No (you *&^%ing idiots) Trump won't fire Mueller

But he might fire Rosenstein!

What some people don't realize is that that ever since Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand resigned a few weeks ago, it would leave conservative Trump appointee Noel Francisco effectively in charge of Mueller probe. Let's face it, there is no chance that Trump could expediently get anyone confirmed to replace either Rosenstein or Brand within any reasonable time. Especially if that person was going from being nominated by Trump, directly to supervising the probe. So that effectively would put the Solicitor General (fourth in line) in charge of the probe. I believe after that, it might be the local cub scout pack leader from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

While there is little chance that Francisco would do anything radical (like shut down the probe) there is little doubt that he would likely put Mueller on a much shorter leash than the spineless Ron Rosenstein, who apparently in his spare time enjoys retroactively providing authorization for investigations that started weeks prior. Francisco might even (gasp) force Mueller to concentrate on the Russian involvement in the 2016 election and whether or not there was actual collusion. You know, Mueller might have to actually follow the actual legal justification for the special counsel appointment.

Wouldn't that be a novel concept?

Trump has spent his career in the company of developers and celebrities, and also of grifters, cons, sharks, goons and crooks. He cuts corners, he lies, he cheats, he brags about it, and for the most part, he’s gotten away with it, protected by threats of litigation, hush money and his own bravado. Those methods may be proving to have their limits when they are applied from the Oval Office. Though Republican leaders in Congress still keep a cowardly silence, Mr. Trump now has real reason to be afraid. A raid on a lawyer’s office doesn’t happen every day; it means that multiple government officials, and a federal judge, had reason to believe they’d find evidence of a crime there and that they didn’t trust the lawyer not to destroy that evidence.

On Monday, when he appeared with his national security team, Mr. Trump, whose motto could be, “The buck stops anywhere but here,” angrily blamed everyone he could think of for the “unfairness” of an investigation that has already consumed the first year of his presidency, yet is only now starting to heat up. He said Attorney General Jeff Sessions made “a very terrible mistake” by recusing himself from overseeing the investigation — the implication being that a more loyal attorney general would have obstructed justice and blocked the investigation. He complained about the “horrible things” that Hillary Clinton did “and all of the crimes that were committed.” He called the A-team of investigators from the office of the special counsel, Robert Mueller, “the most biased group of people.” As for Mr. Mueller himself, “we’ll see what happens,” Mr. Trump said. “Many people have said, ‘You should fire him.’”

There are far to many Republican cowards who insist that the President is not a crook or con artist. Instead they write diatribes against the free press and the dedicated leaders and investors as politically motivated enemies of the President, many of whom have risked their lives in the effort to keep America safe.

The time is coming Mr. Trump.

alky, the campaign finance allegation first came up during stormy skanks interview with the heiress anderson vanderbilt. iow, the allegation is not new nor is it really even news.

what's really at issue here and what we're commenting on is why this investigation has drifted so far afield of the original case - russian collusion in the election.

since THAT began we have a handful of folks charged with the flimsiest of process crimes, manafort charged with nonsense unrelated to trump or his campaign, and 13 worthless indictments of russians who will never return to answer the charges.

so now this entire fiasco has been reduced to trying to determine if trump paid $130,000 for a piece of ass.

the fact that your assclowns on the left can still approach this issue with a straight face is hilarious. for chrissakes, next you'll be raiding the caddyshack at mar-a-lago to see if trump took an illegal mulligan last weekend.

trump should not fire mueller, and he won't. mueller has proven himself to be a dirty cop and a partisan hack. you don't fire scumbags like him. that makes him into a martyr. you let him dig his own hole and bury himself. let him destroy HIS OWN reputation. he's a piece of shit. you don't throw a piece of shit a martyr's lifeline.

McConnell said the Senate will pass a resolution to protect Muller and Rosenstein. They have finally come up with spine to stand up to the wrongdoings of their President. No one outside of the so called brace stand beside Muller. The new Quinnipiac poll found that only 13% of Americans want him to be fired. Over 50% of the Republican voters support the legislation and the investigation into his actions that may have criminal charges.

you idiot, there's no need for legislation to protect mueller. the power to fire mueller is vested in the executive powers of the president. to propose specific legislation to prevent mueller's firing would fly in the face of article II, section 1:

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.

https://constitutioncenter.org/interactive-constitution/articles/article-ii

if your goal is a constitutional conflict, this is how you get there.

btw genius, alan dershowitz had dinner with trump last night. through all of your drama, hyperventilating and fainting couch histrionics, dershowitz has been a voice of reason. i'm confident that dershowitz provided excellent counsel and trump listened. so put down the smelling salts and prepare yourself for yet another mueller disappointment.

hey, keep your chin up. maybe stormy has a dress with trump's splooge on it. that'll keep mueller occupied like a kitten with a laser pointer.

what dumb fucks like the alky can't seem to grasp is that as they cry and whine about some so far non-existent 'constitutional crisis,' the remedy they advocate - legislation to protect mueller - actually creates one.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A bipartisan group of four senators is moving to protect special counsel Robert Mueller's job as President Donald Trump publicly muses about firing him.

Republican Sens. Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Democratic Sens. Chris Coons of Delaware and Cory Booker of New Jersey plan to introduce legislation Wednesday that would give any special counsel a 10-day window in which he or she could seek expedited judicial review of a firing, according to two people familiar with the legislation. They were not authorized to discuss the bill ahead of its release and requested anonymity.

You mean the people on Trump's staff who are empowered to speak for him?

Or all of the people who credibly claim that they've had to talk him out of it? The lawyers on staff?

All of that, but I'm mainly thinking of the steady stream of belligerent bitterness on Twitter, his threats, his attacks on everyone involved including his own top staff. It sounds like someone who wants to fire Mueller so bad he can taste it, but knows that he'll get in trouble if he does.

You're free to disagree, and you can plausibly say "Trump never stated in public for the record that he wanted to fire Mueller", but that's weak ground to stake your position on isn't it?

The fact that the media asks the question, and the press secretary answers... is about the media bringing it up.

You do understand this, correct?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I never said that the President was going to fire Muller. He wants to, and Steve Bannon said that Trump should fire Rosenstien, and write an executive order that would repeal the ruling from 1999, then he would be able to replace Rosenstine with his choice of assistant director, who then could either fire Muller.

One thing is certain is that Scott would support the scheme with a 500 word diatribe in support.

wphamilton said...

Uh huh, right after they say that they've had the lawyers look into it and they've decided that Trump can fire him. LOL. Spending time and resources, and injecting controversial opinions, because it's some that they'd never consider. What I "do understand" is that the press spokesman offers throwaway lines like that to assuage the most gullible of Trump's core supporters.

commie said...
