Bipartisan Infrastructure Funding Package that Sells Off Government Assets to Pay for Program on Way

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is working on an infrastructure package to help America’s poorest communities, Breitbart News has learned.
The package, which will sell off government debt assets and split the money between deficit reduction and infrastructure spending, would cost taxpayers nothing–as it would transition wasteful government assets into serving as a revenue-raising tool."

A majority of the money goes to economicly poor areas.

The President has been making the United States a pariah as we withdraw from the post World War Two preeminent nation on earth.

Four years ago, after the Ukraine invasion, the United States led the charge to throw Russia out of the G-8. Now, as leaders of the Group of 7 nations gather in Quebec, President Trump says he thinks Russia should be readmitted. The climate is so bitter that the French finance minister termed the meeting the “G-6 plus one.” In reality, it’s the “G-7 minus one,” since President Trump has so alienated the United States from its core partners that we have effectively absented ourselves.

America stands alone, weakened and distrusted. Without United States leadership, the G-7 can accomplish little. And, when next we need our allies to rally to fight terrorists, place sanctions against North Korea, combat a pandemic or check China and Russia, will they join with us after we have so disrespected them?

His tweets attacking the core of NATO couldn't make Putin any happier. The sanctions and tariffs are going to have a catastrophic impact upon our economy that has been growing for the longest period in history.

The bottom line is that China will step forward as the preeminent nation on earth. And the Russians are advancing in the middle East as he withdraws us from our preeminent role.

We are going to be reduced to a second tier power because of his inept conduct on both foreign affairs and economic issues with his irresponsible tariffs against Canada Mexico and other countries that have been maintained an economic and military presence since World War Two.

Welcome to a second tier power.

I wrote 90% of it and used better English than Jimmy can do even when he's not drunk.

Trump is a liar about beaner kids. rrb loves it.

WASHINGTON — In a lengthy, unprompted question-and-answer session with reporters on Friday morning, President Trump again pointed his finger at Democrats for a series of recent cases in which migrant children were taken from their parents following illegal border crossings.

“I don’t like the children being separated from the parents. I don’t like it. I hate it, but that’s a Democrat bill that we’re enforcing. We can change it in one day. All they have to do is come and see us,” Trump said.

In fact, the spate of child separations are the result of recent Trump administration policy. There is no law that orders parents and children to be separated after illegal border crossings, and Democrats have never pushed for such a policy.

Friday’s remarks were not the first time Trump has tried to blame the opposing party for children being taken from their parents at the border.

“Separating families at the Border is the fault of bad legislation passed by the Democrats,” Trump wrote in a June 5 tweet. “Border Security laws should be changed but the Dems can’t get their act together!”

Associated Press fact checkers reviewed that tweet and concluded the separations were “likely” the result of a new “zero tolerance” policy announced by Attorney General Jeff Sessions in April. That policy orders authorities to treat all illegal border crossings as crimes, which means adult border crossers are arrested. Typically, when a parent is jailed, their children are separated from them.

“So while separating families might not have been the administration’s intention, it is an obvious consequence of the policy,” the Associated Press wrote.

The policy drew condemnation from the United Nations earlier this month. Speaking to reporters in Geneva, Ravina Shamdasani, a spokesperson for the U.N. Human Rights Office, called for an “immediate halt” to the separations.

“The practice of separating families amounts to arbitrary and unlawful interference in family life, and is a serious violation of the rights of the child,” Shamdasani said.

The separation policy has led to traumatic situations, including a case documented by the New York Times where a 5-year-old boy from Honduras was unable to speak to his parents for an extended period after being placed in foster care. According to the newspaper, the boy cried extensively and slept with drawings of his mother and father. According to figures provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, more than 650 children were separated from their parents during a two-week period last month, the Associated Press reported. A spike in border apprehensions has followed Trump’s call for increased enforcement.

The White House did not respond to a request of clarification on what Trump was referring to when he blamed the familial separations on Democrats. In his comments, Trump seemed to connect the issue with the failure to reach a larger deal with Democrats on immigration reform.

Trudeau Slams Trump Over Tariffs

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “sharply criticized President Trump’s tariffs and promised Canada would answer with its own on July 1 unless the United States reversed course,” the Washington Post reports.

Said Trudeau: “I highlighted directly to the president that Canadians did not take it lightly that the United States has moved forward with significant tariffs on our steel and aluminum industry. Particularly, they did not take lightly that it’s for a national security reason that for Canadians … who stood shoulder to shoulder with American soldiers in far off lands in conflicts from the first World War onwards, it’s kind of insulting.”

He added: “Canadians, we’re polite, we’re reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around.”

HER3'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE HAVE AN IDIOT FOR A PRESIDENT

QUEBEC CITY — President Trump told foreign leaders at the Group of Seven summit that they must dramatically reduce trade barriers with the United States or could risk losing access to the world’s largest economy, delivering his most defiant trade threat yet to his counterparts from around the globe.

Trump, in a news conference before leaving for Singapore, described private conversations he held over two days with the leaders of Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Canada. He said he pushed them to consider removing every single tariff or trade barrier on American goods and that, in return, he would do the same for products from their countries. But if steps are not taken, he said, the penalties would be severe.

“We’re like the piggy bank that everybody is robbing,” Trump said. “And that ends.”

But there were numerous signs here that leaders of other countries stood their ground, having stiffened after months of attacks and insults. Each country now faces crucial decisions about how to proceed. If they do not back down and Trump does try to stop — or at least slow — the flow of trade, it could impact the flow of hundreds of billions of dollars in goods, potentially impacting millions of jobs in the United States and around the world.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sharply criticized Trump’s tariffs and promised Canada would answer with its own on July 1 unless the United States reversed course.

“I highlighted directly to the president that Canadians did not take it lightly that the United States has moved forward with significant tariffs on our steel and aluminum industry,” he said at a conference at the meeting’s end. “Particularly, [they] did not take lightly that it’s for a national security reason that for Canadians … who stood shoulder to shoulder with American soldiers in far off lands in conflicts from the first World War onwards, it’s kind of insulting.”

“Canadians, we’re polite, we’re reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around,” Trudeau said.

The U.S. leader described the meetings with his counterparts as cordial, and he repeatedly blamed past U.S. leaders for what he views as a trade imbalance. He also said other nations had taken advantage of decades of U.S. complacency in regard to trade, something that he planned to end.

The two-day session under crystalline blue skies in Charlevoix, Quebec, put Trump’s transactional view of alliances, economic leverage and trade relationships into sharp focus for other nations often frustrated by Trump’s ad hoc decision-making.

At this second G-7 gathering of Trump’s presidency, he has largely answered the question of whether he would follow through on campaign promises to punish nations he accuses of taking advantage of the United States.
He did not back away or blunt his critiques, and despite first-name references to “Angela” and “Justin,” Trump did little to disguise his distrust of the international consensus model of world affairs that the G-7 represents.

James said...

The weekend meeting marked the first time other countries began employing a new way of dealing with Trump in person, pushing back on his declarations and threats and trying to illustrate the damage he was doing to the U.S. economy.

Representatives from other G-7 countries said they felt as though they had made progress in conveying their positions to Trump, something many of them felt pressured to do by voters at home.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s office released a photograph as Trump left the summit Saturday that showed her locked in an exchange with Trump: He is seated, arms folded, wearing an inscrutable expression. She stands opposite him, leaning over a table with both arms extended as other leaders and aides look on.

A Reuters photographer, meanwhile, captured a photograph Friday of the imprint that French President Emmanuel Macron left on Trump’s right hand after a handshake, suggesting the French leader used a forceful grip.
Trump had grumbled to aides ahead of the meeting that he didn’t want to go sit through lectures from the other leaders, and he mused about sending Vice President Pence in his place.

He arrived at the meeting late and left early, holding a solo news conference on Saturday morning where he gave the trade ultimatum and said the size of the U.S. economy means other nations can’t win a trade war.

“We win that war a thousand times out of a thousand,” Trump said.

Trump said he was delivering this message to a wide range of countries, not just those at the meeting. He specifically cited India as being a country that he could impose new penalties against as well.

“We are talking to many countries,” he said. “We’re talking to all countries. And it’s going to stop. Or we’ll stop trading with them.”

Trump often appeared more interested in the unprecedented summit he will hold Tuesday with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, where he said he looks forward to sizing up both Kim and the potential for ending one of the world’s most dangerous nuclear standoffs.

“It’s a one-time shot, and I think it’s going to work out very well,” Trump said, adding later that there is also a significant chance of failure. He said he’d probably know within the first minute of his sit-down with Kim whether he can make a deal. Trump credited his intuitive “touch” as a dealmaker.

He bristled at a question that touched on the apparent disconnect between his confrontations with democratic allies in Canada and his enthusiasm for a meeting with a dictator.

“I figured,” he said dismissively, when the questioner identified himself as representing CNN. “Fake news CNN,” Trump said.

Trump repeated his view that Russia should be readmitted despite its annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula four years ago.

The leaders discussed the question of Russia’s inclusion in the group but reached no conclusion, Trump said.

“We didn’t do votes or anything, but it has been discussed,” he said.
Trump first referred to the Crimean annexation, which led to the G-7 disinviting Russia, only obliquely.

“Something happened a while ago where Russia is no longer in,” he said. “I think it would be good to have Russia back in.”

“We’re looking for peace in the world. We’re not looking to play games,” Trump added.

Russia is a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council and plays a significant role in international security issues. It also holds a seat in the larger Group of 20.

James said...

Trump is not the first politician to make the realpolitik argument that Russia belongs at the G-7 table, but his position is a complete turnabout from the Obama administration, which condemned the 2014 annexation and imposed sanctions on Russia as punishment.

“Crimea was let go during the Obama administration, and, you know, Obama can say all he wants, but he allowed Russia to take Crimea. I might have had a very different” response, Trump said.

Trump’s pitch that world leaders eliminate all tariffs — or else — was his latest attempt to reorder the global trading system, which he says is stacked unfairly against the United States.

The two-day summit here was intended to cool tensions between Trump and other world leaders, but as they departed on Saturday it became clear that many are still searching for answers and also for ways to deal with the unpredictable U.S. leader.

For example, on Friday evening, the White House issued a statement saying Trump and Trudeau were very close to a deal to rework the North American Free Trade Agreement.

But during his comments on Saturday morning, Trump said there were still a number of different ways the NAFTA talks could play out, including the possibility of doing separate deals with Mexico and Canada, effectively cleaving the longtime agreement in two.

“It was not contentious,” Trump said. “What was strong was the language that this cannot go on, but the relationships are very good.”

“The European Union is brutal to the United States, and they know it,” Trump said, adding that other leaders acknowledge as much in private.
“It’s like the gig is up,” he said. “They can’t believe they got away with it.”

European officials described things much differently. Their leaders confronted Trump about how his protectionist policies had given them no choice but to retaliate with tariffs of their own, a person familiar with the encounter said. These tariffs, they told Trump, would hurt everyone. Trump had tried to essentially splinter the European leaders by negotiating some changes with Germany and different ones with France, but those leaders appeared locked together.

They had been careful not to reveal their approach before meeting with Trump, Although it appeared very calculated.

“If you have a strategy, do not explain your strategy before the meeting — because if you are explaining your strategy before the meeting, you are losing your strategy,” European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker told reporters.

As for Trump’s proposal to eliminate all tariffs, he said it was unclear how other countries would respond.

“I did suggest it,” Trump said. “I guess they are going to go back to the drawing board and check it out.”

Amid tensions, all G-7 members sign statement

Analysis: The West is in crisis, despite Trump's glowing assessment

After G-7 Summit, Trudeau moves forward with tariffs

EARLIER:
LA MALBAIE, Quebec — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says all countries attending the Group of Seven summit have signed a joint communique despite sharp trade tensions with the U.S.

Trudeau says the U.S., Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Japan figured out "consensus language" they could all agree to.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently slapped tariffs on Canada, Mexico and the European Union, angering his counterparts before he arrived at the summit. Some had predicted it would be difficult for all the leaders to reach any kind of consensus because of the sharp disagreements.

But Trudeau says what the leaders did this weekend was "roll up our sleeves" and figure out language they could agree to on a broad range of issues.

UPDATE:
President Trump tweets that he now doesn't endorse G-7 joint statement after Canadian PM's "false statements."

Coats Warns Russia Is Trying to Influence Midterms

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats told the Atlantic Council that Russia “is attempting to influence the midterm elections in the United States in November as well as divide the transatlantic alliance.”

Coats said Russia had already undertaken an “unprecedented influence campaign to interfere in the US electoral and political process” in 2016 and has also meddled in France, Germany, Norway, Spain, and Ukraine.

He added: “These Russian actions are purposeful and premeditated and they represent an all-out assault, by Vladimir Putin, on the rule of law, Western ideals and democratic norms.”

Steve Hilton: Trump’s criticism of G-7 is ‘unprecedented’ scream the elite -- That’s the whole point of Trump!

You know you’re getting somewhere when your opponents are all attacking you in the same way.

So President Trump should feel a strong sense of satisfaction with a job well done after leaving the slightly pointless Group of Seven (G-7) summit in Canada on Saturday for another likely far more consequential summit in Singapore with North Korea dictator Kim Jong Un.

The U.S. president’s critics are all using identical language in their denunciations of his policy positions.

The complaints from U.S. allies over President Trump’s trade policies is that these polices are “unprecedented.” They say he is undermining the “rules-based international order.”

That, as far as the global foreign policy establishment is concerned, is all you need to say. End of discussion. Notice that they don’t actually engage with the substance of President Trump’s arguments at all.

We hear these criticisms from the pompous pearl-clutchers of the international elite. These include:

· World leaders with their bland communiques carefully crafted by time-serving bureaucrats who think they really run the show.

· Arrogant and unaccountable corporate stooges who run globalist multilateral institutions like the International Monetary Fund and the European Union.

· Self-regarding after-dinner pontificators of the Washington think tank circuit who float snootily over the real-world catastrophes engendered by their ideology without ever acknowledging that it may have even the slightest defect.

· The gullible commentators and journalists who unquestioningly lap up all this self-serving elitist Pablum while presenting themselves as fearless pursuers of “the truth.”

Seated in front of Ormsby were 71 disheveled immigrants caught illegally crossing the Rio Grande. The number of defendants has soared amid President Trump’s crackdown on a new surge of border crossers. But the mass hearing was remarkable less for its size than for who it included: parents.

For the first time, federal courtrooms here and across the Southwest are being flooded with distraught mothers and fathers who have been charged with misdemeanor illegal entry and separated from their children — a shift in policy touted by the administration as a way to stop families from trying to reach the United States but decried by critics as traumatizing and inhumane. Last month a Honduran father separated from his wife and 3-year-old son killed himself in a Texas jail cell, The Washington Post reported Saturday.

[A family was separated at the border, and this distraught father took his own life]

In McAllen alone, 415 children had been stripped from their parents between May 21 and June 5, according to federal public defenders.

Now, on the morning of June 6, 14 more parents from Central America were facing an agonizing choice with uncertain consequences. They could plead guilty in the hope of speeding up their reunification with their children, but risk damaging their chances of receiving asylum in the United States. Or they could plead innocent and head to trial, a process that could take days or weeks and prolong their separation from their kids.

Seven miles from Mexico and surrounded by brushlands that are home to the border’s busiest smuggling routes, the Bentsen Tower federal courthouse has become one of the anguished epicenters of family separation.

On Wednesday morning, the evidence of that was the tears on the parents’ faces. Many clutched fliers with a phone number they could call to try to get their kids back from the increasingly crowded federal shelters where they are being housed.

Sen. John McCain pushed back Saturday night against President Donald Trump's reversal of an agreement to sign onto a statement by the G7 countries, saying that Americans would continue to stand with its historical allies.

"To our allies: bipartisan majorities of Americans remain pro-free trade, pro-globalization & supportive of alliances based on 70 years of shared values," the Arizona senator tweeted. "Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn't."

Earlier in the evening, Trump tweeted that Canadian prime minster Justin Trudeau was "meek" and "mild" and that his statements were "false."

Trump is tearing apart the alliance of Democratic governments we put together after World War Two as I stated earlier.

The President has been making the United States a pariah as we withdraw from the post World War Two preeminent nation on earth.

President Trump at the Group of 7 meeting in Canada on Friday. The president finds himself isolated on the global stage.Doug Mills/The New York Times
By Peter Baker and Michael D. Shear
June 9, 2018
WASHINGTON — Shortly before leaving the annual meeting of major world powers on Saturday, President Trump boasted that it had been “tremendously successful” and that on a scale of 0 to 10, “the relationship is a 10.”

Fewer than nine hours later, the relationship was plummeting toward a zero. With a petulant tweetstorm from Air Force One, Mr. Trump all but blew up the Group of 7 nations that the United States has led for more than four decades and essentially declared open political war on America’s closest neighbor.

Whatever hopes that other leaders had of pacifying Mr. Trump and papering over their widening differences on trade, security and the world order vanished in a flurry of harsh recriminations. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada rebuffed Mr. Trump’s positions in public comments, prompting Mr. Trump to refuse to sign the carefully crafted final communiqué.

The blowup left the United States alienated from its allies even more than it had been since the end of World War Two. President Eisenhower put together NATO and built alliances around the world to contain the Soviet Union and communist countries around the world. The Soviet Union collapsed not long after the famous comment by President Ronald Reagan's "Mr Gorbachev tear down that wall!.

Mr Trump has declared the end of the alliance that has maintained world peace since 1945.

On Wednesday morning, the evidence of that was the tears on the parents’ faces. Many clutched fliers with a phone number they could call to try to get their kids back from the increasingly crowded federal shelters where they are being housed.

As Allison Moody, a special assistant U.S. attorney, read the charges against the immigrants, they stood, one by one, in front of the magistrate to plead.

“Culpable,” they said, again and again, using the Spanish word for guilty. By 10:30, the count was 56 culpables and running.

But when it came time for number 57, Diego Nicolas-Gaspar hesitated.

The Guatemalan fleeing violence and poverty had rafted across the Rio Grande a day earlier with his son, only to have the 11-year-old taken from him by Border Patrol agents. Now he feared that if he pleaded guilty, he’d be deported without the boy.

“No culpable,” he said uncertainly.

As Ormsby began to set a trial date for the following week, the immigrant’s attorney interjected.

“Your honor, he’s been separated from his son,” said assistant federal public defender Azalea Aleman-Bendiks. “We would prefer to have him not continued in custody because he is traveling with his 11-year-old son. He’s been separated from him and if he doesn’t get back today, the chances of him being reunited with him go down.”

1: He is obsessed with reversing every single action by the negro President.

so alky, you've decided to inject racism into an issue where none exists. how very liberal of you. why didn't you just use the 'n' word to describe 0linsky. you know you wanted to.

btw, one of my favorite things about the trump presidency is that he rarely references 0linsky.

during the 0linsky regime hardly a day went by in his first 4 years where he didn't whine about something he inherited from bush. trump otoh has chosen to shitcan huge swaths of skeets' legacy while rarely mentioning the asshole, let along his half-rican american heritage.

so is trump obsessed with reversing the actions of his marxist predecessor? only the really stupid and shitty actions that harm america, which is basically all of them.

also, iran has now confirmed that they directly facilitated the attack on 9/11. how much do you want to bet that lurch and skeets knew this when they cut that shitty deal with those cocksuckers?

For the first time, federal courtrooms here and across the Southwest are being flooded with distraught mothers and fathers who have been charged with misdemeanor illegal entry and separated from their children

just think... they could've all stayed together had they just remained in the home country vs. coming here ILLEGALLY.

you see alky, it's always the most fundamental concepts that can be broken down into their logical components.

break the law, get caught, and expect bad things to happen to you.

simply remarkable, no?

Maybe we should just have everyone incarcerated have their family brought to jail with them. Don't want to break up any families, right?

heh. indeed. the left fails to grasp that concept. virtually every time someone breaks the law and ends up in jail a family is being broken up.

yet liberals only care about the illegal aliens.

indeed. but that's how craven democrats are these days. they need to import new voters to make up for all the voters they've lost over the years with their completely fucked up policies.

they've been reduced to celebrating and supporting hamas and ms-13, and can't figure out why normal average americans are repulsed by them.

clueless assholes.
