#Walk Away

White millennials are equally divided between supporting Republicans and Democrats in this year's critical midterm elections, as a campaign urging people to "Walk Away" from the Democratic Party has picked up steam online.
Young people do not like President Donald Trump, but whites between the ages of 18 and 34 said they are equally likely to vote for a Republican as for a Democrat in the elections for Congress this November. A full 39 percent said that "if the election for U.S. Congress were held today," they would vote for the Republican in the district where they live. Another 39 percent said they would vote for the Democrat.
This represented a nine-point shift away from Democrats since 2016. That year, only 33 percent of young white voters said they would elect a Republican to Congress, while 47 percent said they would choose a Democrat.
Young white men made the greatest shift toward the GOP. In 2016, nearly half of them (48 percent) said they would vote for a Democrat, while only 36 percent said they would vote Republican. This year, 46 percent said they would choose a Republican, while only 37 percent said they would vote Democrat — a 21 percent shift in favor of the GOP. (link)

There were two generic polls released yesterday (Thursday).

Rasmussen had the Democrats only up 6.

Economist/YouGov was down to Democrats +4

What kind of Red Wave will occur if the R's pull ahead, basically in neutral territory right now.

Job approval rating is at 40%.
Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Voters Have Dim View Of Trump, Dems On Immigration Quinnipiac University

"Sad," "terrible," "bad," "wrong," are the words most frequently used by American voters to describe the practice of separating children from their parents when families try to enter the U.S. illegally, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today.

In fact, the 18 words most frequently used in an open-ended question by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University National Poll, allowing for any answer, are all negative.

The top words and the number of times they were used, not percentages, are:
Sad - 79 times;
Terrible - 67 times;
Bad - 53 times;
Wrong - 47 times;
Disgusted - 45 times;
Horrible - 39 times.
American voters disapprove 58 - 39 percent of the way President Donald Trump is handling immigration.

President Trump is racist, 49 percent of voters say, while 47 percent say he is not racist. But 50 percent of voters say the main motive for Trump's immigration policies is "a sincere interest in controlling our borders," while 44 percent say the main motive is "racist beliefs."

Democrats in Congress are more interested in "exploiting the nation's immigration issue for political gain," 60 percent of voters say, while 34 percent say they are more interested in "resolving the nation's immigration issue."

"The words are G-rated, but a punch to the gut of President Donald Trump's immigration policy," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

"When it comes to the separation of immigrant kids from their parents, American voters are clearly appalled."

Separating children from their parents was a violation of human rights, American voters say 60 - 36 percent. The Trump Administration has a responsibility to unite these children with their parents, voters say 83 - 12 percent. Undocumented immigrants are not more likely than American citizens to commit crimes, American voters say 69 - 25 percent.

President Trump's Approval, Character Traits

American voters disapprove 55 - 40 percent of the job President Trump is doing, compared to a 52 - 43 percent disapproval rating in a June 20 Quinnipiac University National Poll and reversing a trend which showed Trump's net approval inching up.

The president gets negative grades on most character traits:
58 - 38 percent say he is not honest;
55 - 43 percent say he does not have good leadership skills;
55 - 43 percent say he does not care about average Americans;
62 - 34 percent say he is not level-headed;
63 - 32 percent say he is a strong person;
57 - 39 say he is intelligent;
60 - 37 percent say he does not share their values;
62 - 36 percent say he does not provide the U.S. with moral leadership.
Voters approve 53 - 39 percent.

The lack of civility in politics is a serious problem, American voters say 91 - 7 percent. While 47 percent of voters blame Trump more for this lack of civility, 37 percent blame the Democrats more. Voters say 55 - 39 percent that Trump has emboldened people who hold racist beliefs to express those beliefs publicly.

Civility

The lack of civility in politics is a serious problem, American voters say 91 - 7 percent. While 47 percent of voters blame Trump more for this lack of civility, 37 percent blame the Democrats more. Voters say 55 - 39 percent that Trump has emboldened people who hold racist beliefs to express those beliefs publicly.

"The latest survey warrants more low-key sparklers than soaring Roman candles as President Trump's approval stalls and voters say civility has gone out the window," Malloy said.

From June 27 - July 1, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,020 voters nationwide, with a margin of error of +/- 3.7 percentage points, including design effect. Live interviewers call landlines and cell phones.

The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts nationwide public opinion surveys, and statewide polls in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Iowa, Colorado and Texas as a public service and for research.

Bottom line Scott.

Motivation to get out and vote is the key. The problem with the Republicans is the white, female suburban voters. If the Democrats can motivate them and more importantly the millennials to get out and vote in higher than average rates the house will change hands. The Senate majority will probably be sustained.

#impeachment is off the table unless there is a blue Wave. Not likely.

So folks we are seeing that the blue Wave has been reaching hurricane force. " July 4th , 2018 Roger Amick

The white female suburbain voter is just as likely to vote Republican as well as Democrat. This is especially true if they are married. This is the demographic that Clinton shockingly lost in 2016.

Single milinnial females are likely to vote Democrat but single male milininnals who are tired of being bashed by "feminist" are increasingly turning to the GOP.

If the Democrats can motivate them

and you're going to do this how, exactly?

by telling them their tax cut is crumbs?
by telling them that an invasion of the southern border is in their best interests?
by telling them that 4+% GDP sucks?

the fact is you don't have a single legitimate issue by which to motivate them. you have lies, hyperbole, crazed rhetoric and not much else to offer.

white, female, suburban voters are NOT a problem for the GOP, but they are a huge problem for your side.

only just over two months, as the reuters story broke april 30th.

and if you think the democrats have regained the ground they've lost in that poll by going apeshit on ICE and climbing the statue of liberty you're fucking delusional.

The new survey is a Harvard-Harris Poll, by former Clinton pollster and strategist Mark Penn. It was conducted in late June with 1,448 registered voters.

On the issue of separations, Penn began with a threshold question: “Do you think that people who make it across our border illegally should be allowed to stay in the country or sent home? Sixty-four percent said they should be sent home. Thirty-six percent said they should be allowed to stay.

Then Penn asked: “Do you think that parents with children who make it across our border illegally should be allowed to stay in the country or sent home?” The presence of children made little difference in the result: 61 percent said they should be sent home, while 39 percent said they should be allowed to stay.

The vast majority — 88 percent — opposed separating illegal immigrant families while they are in the U.S., and they blamed the Trump administration for the policy. On the other hand, 55 percent said illegal immigrant families should be held in custody “until a judge reviews their case” — essentially the new Trump family detention policy.

Put the numbers together, and a substantial majority said illegal border crossers, and the children they brought, should be returned to their home countries. To that end, 80 percent favored hiring more immigration judges “to process people in custody faster.”

“They (poll respondents) rejected family separation while narrowly favoring family detention,” Penn said in an email exchange. “Mostly they want people who cross the border illegally to be turned around and returned home efficiently.”

Penn’s polling found other results broadly favorable to the Trump approach to immigration.

For example, Penn asked, “Do you think we need stricter or looser enforcement of our immigration laws?” Seventy percent said stricter, while 30 percent said looser.

Penn asked whether respondents “support or oppose building a combination of physical and electronic barriers across the U.S.-Mexico border.” Sixty percent supported the barriers, while 40 percent did not. Sixty-one percent said current border security is inadequate.

Penn’s polling also found overwhelming opposition to sanctuary cities. He asked: “Should cities that arrest illegal immigrants for crimes be required to notify immigration authorities they are in custody or be prohibited from notifying immigration authorities?” Eight-four percent — a huge number — said that cities should be required to notify immigration authorities. Just 16 percent said cities should be prohibited from doing that.

Penn polled the newest progressive immigration proposal, the “Abolish ICE” campaign to disband U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Sixty-nine percent of those surveyed said ICE should not be abolished, while 31 percent said it should.

Finally, Penn found widespread support for the fundamental provisions of the immigration bills, based on Trump’s “four pillars,” that were recently rejected by the House of Representatives. “Would you favor or oppose a congressional deal that gives undocumented immigrants brought here by their parents work permits and a path to citizenship in exchange for increasing merit preference over preference for relatives, eliminating the diversity visa lottery, and funding barrier security on the U.S.-Mexico border?” Penn asked. Sixty-three percent supported the plan, while 37 percent opposed.

“Overall, Americans want to show compassion for those that are here, but want much tougher enforcement of immigration laws,” Penn said.

Trump's speech in Montana sounds whackadoodle. He has had such low energy past week or two. Recently, he couldn't remember Justice Kennedy's name and thought Appalachian Trail is called Talahassee Trail.

The crowd in Great Falls Montana was not necessarily representative of the entire state. They have been electing Democrats as governor and Senators for years. I lived in Billings Montana for eight years and it's not just a stand behind and follow the party lines.

Private payrolls miss expectations as companies can't find enough people to hire

Jobs in the U.S. grew by 177,000 in June, ADP and Moody’s Analytics say, while economists polled by Thomson Reuters expected a gain of 190,000.

Growth for the previous month, however, was revised up by 11,000 to 189,000.

The report comes a day before the U.S. government’s monthly nonfarm payrolls report for June.

one can only imagine just how pissed off white suburban women must be at the announcement of all this good economic news.
