What is really funny is all the old white republicon operatives don't have enough blood to run 2 heads at the same time and fall for a young piece of russian ass collecting information from them.....and menstral keeps slurping...

Maria Butina, who was charged last month with being a covert Russian agent, passionately promoted gun rights and better relations with Russia, charming a string of older men along the way. Clockwise from top right: Ms. Butina in 2014 with James W. Porter II, then president of the N.R.A.; Wayne LaPierre, the group’s executive vice president; and Rick Santorum, the former

WASHINGTON — Twelve days after a young Russian gun-rights activist gained access to some of America’s most prominent conservatives, at an elegant dinner near the Capitol, a Republican operative was eager to keep the momentum going.

In a February 2017 email, the operative, Paul Erickson, proposed another “U.S./Russia friendship” dinner. He noted that the activist, Maria Butina, who now is accused of being a covert Russian agent, was making an “ever-expanding circle of influential friends.”

Ms. Butina, he wrote in the email, had just met Susan Eisenhower, the granddaughter of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, during a visit to Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. The Russian woman had also gotten to know the ex-wife of a supermarket heir, who had endowed an institute dedicated to furthering American-Russian relations, and the “silky smooth” former Russian diplomat who ran it.

Yesterday our cultist non scientist menstral postulated that rain in the hot desert was a normal thing..... I beg to differ...

Rain is rare at temperatures above 100°F
It is rare to get rain when the temperature rises above 100°F (38°C), since heat of that intensity is usually accompanied by a high pressure system with sinking air, which discourages clouds and rainfall. In addition, when a shower or thunderstorm does bring rain, the cold outflow from the approaching cell typically cools the air before rain starts falling. The July 24, 2018 rain in Imperial was due to a flow of moisture coming from the southeast caused by the Southwest U.S. monsoon, a seasonal influx of moisture due to the difference in temperature between the hot desert and the cooler ocean areas surrounding Mexico to the south. The air on that day was flowing from the Gulf of California, where water temperatures were a bathwater-like 88°F (31°C), about 5°F (3°C) above average. Evaporation from this hot water provided more moisture than is usually available to the atmosphere over the Desert Southwest. You can see a continuous stream of clouds affecting the Imperial region during the late afternoon and early evening hours of July 24 (lower left side of the animation from a tweet from NWS Phoenix, embedded above). These cells were not intense enough to generate a cooling outflow of air like a thunderstorm would.

Idiot. I said "it's not unusual for rain to be hot in the desert when it rainns at all." I really though that one did not have to explain how rare it is that it rains at all in the desert.

After all that's why it's called a desert.

Chinese retaliation adds $131 billion of goods to the global tariff pile. EU, Canadian and Mexican retaliation for $20 billion of steel rounds it all out. The maximum potential of goods slapped with tariffs totals $644 billion.

Critics correctly claim that tariffs are a tax — always. But they’re only a tax. These tariff tax rates range from 10 percent to 25 percent. Pretend it was all at 25 percent. Then, the potential annual global max tax is $161 billion (644 X .25 = 161).

Sound big? It’s not. Try multiplication and division. Global GDP was $80 trillion in January. It’s growing about 5 percent in dollars this year (3 percent real growth plus 2 percent inflation).

So, 2018 global economic growth is about $4 trillion (80 X 5 percent = 4). Our max $161 billion tax, divided by $4 trillion of growth, is merely 4 percent of 2018’s normal growth. A negative? Yes. But, minuscule relative to normal growth! Way too tiny to cause recession — or even get lathered over. Pundits make mountains from molehills. Even if we triple that, it’s only 12 percent of one year’s growth.

WASHINGTON — In the last five days, President Trump has thanked Kim Jong-un of North Korea for his “nice letter,” reminisced about his “great meeting” with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and offered to meet Iran’s president, Hassan Rouhani, without any preconditions.

During those same five days, the Treasury Department imposed sanctions on a Russian bank accused of helping North Korea with weapons-related activities. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo listed stringent preconditions for any engagement with Iran. And the administration’s top intelligence and law enforcement officials vowed to combat Russian interference in the midterm elections, while Senate Republicans pushed a bill that would impose harsh new sanctions on Moscow.

Bhe assault on the truth is intentional.

When the Washington Post published a remarkable story on its front page revealing a recent spike in the number of “false and misleading claims” made by President Trump. In his first year as President, Trump made 2,140 false claims, according to the Post. In just the last six months, he has nearly doubled that total to 4,229. In June and July, he averaged sixteen false claims a day. On July 5th, the Post found what appears to be Trump’s most untruthful day yet: seventy-six per cent of the ninety-eight factual assertions he made in a campaign-style rally in Great Falls, Montana, were “false, misleading or unsupported by evidence.” Trump’s rallies have become the signature events of his Presidency, and it is there that the President most often plays fast and loose with the facts, in service to his political priorities and to telling his fervent supporters what they want and expect to hear from him. At another rally this week, in Tampa, Trump made thirty-five false and misleading claims, on subjects ranging from trade with China to the size of his tax cut.

These astonishing statistics were compiled by a small team overseen by Glenn Kessler, the editor and chief writer of the Post’s Fact Checker column, who for much of the last decade has been truth-squadding politicians and doling out Pinocchios for their exaggerations, misrepresentations, distortions, and otherwise false claims. At this point, Kessler practically has a Ph.D. in the anthropology of the Washington lie, a long and storied art form which has always had skilled practitioners of both parties. But Trump has challenged the Fact Checker, Kessler told me over coffee this week, in ways that have tested the very premise of the column. The President, for example, has a habit of repeating the same falsehoods over and over again, especially as they concern his core political causes, such as trade or immigration or getting European allies to contribute more to nato. What should Kessler do, he often asks himself, when Trump repeats a four-Pinocchio whopper? Since taking office, the Post fact-checking team found, Trump has repeated close to a hundred and fifty untruths at least three times. Kessler has instated a Trump-specific database in response. Initially, the Post planned to compile the database of Trump’s misrepresentations as part of a project for his first hundred days in office. But the numbers kept piling up; now, Kessler told me, he is committed to keeping it up for Trump’s full term, documenting every “untruth” (per Post policy, he does not use the label “lies” even for the most egregious Presidential whoppers). “We’re kind of doing it for history,” he said.

History books will likely declare the last few months a turning point in the Trump Presidency, and Kessler’s laborious work gives us metrics that confirm what is becoming more and more apparent: the recent wave of misstatements is both a reflection of Trump’s increasingly unbound Presidency and a signal attribute of it. The upsurge provides empirical evidence that Trump, in recent months, has felt more confident running his White House as he pleases, keeping his own counsel, and saying and doing what he wants when he wants to. The fact that Trump, while historically unpopular with the American public as a whole, has retained the loyalty of more than eighty per cent of Republicans—the group at which his lies seem to be aimed—means we are in for much more, as a midterm election approaches that may determine whether Trump is impeached by a newly Democratic Congress. At this point, the falsehoods are as much a part of his political identity as his floppy orange hair and the “Make America Great Again” slogan. The untruths, Kessler told me, are Trump’s political “secret sauce.”

You all love the secret sauce.

You can watch the rallies either live or Fox or YouTube. He's not looking like a person who is supposed to be the President of the United States and he's wavering his arms and pointing out the cameras and journalists and calls them the enemy of the people.

Our economy is growing rapidly and that is great news. But the trade wars are going to be very destabilizing on the economy. The costs of a Ford F150 could increase by $1,500 because of the taxes aka tarrifs on Chinese steel. His claim that steel manufacturing is skyrocketing is blatantly false. Not just misleading.

The $12.5 billion to soy began farmers is deficit spending. There is no supply side recovery of the expenditures. It's just an attempt to avoid a massive election disaster in the agricultural sector that normally would vote for Republicans. The candidates have to walk a fine line on either supporting the President or carefully dancing in circles.

The closer we get to the release of the investigations into alleged Russian intervention and possible conspiracies with the campaign, he is going to get worse..

He's been saying now that he will destroy any Republican who dares to differ with him.

Turnout in this year’s U.S. House primaries is up, especially on the Democratic side
BY DREW DESILVER

Americans appear to be more engaged with this year’s midterm elections than they typically are. Not only do about half of registered voters report being more enthusiastic than usual about voting, up from 40% in 2014, but turnout has surged in the 31 states that already have held their congressional primaries – particularly among Democrats.

In those states, nearly 13.6 million people – or 10.1% of registered voters – have voted in Democratic primaries for the U.S. House of Representatives, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of state election returns. By this point in the 2014 midterm election cycle, fewer than 7.4 million people – or 6% of registered voters – had cast ballots in Democratic House primaries. (The same 31 states have held primaries as by this date in 2014.)

The total number of votes cast in Democratic House primaries so far this year is 84% higher than the total for the equivalent point in 2014. One reason: There have been a lot more contested primaries, which tend to attract more voters.

More contested House races are driving higher turnout, particularly among Democrats

Republican turnout in House primaries also has increased, from a combined 8.6 million votes at this point in 2014 (7% of registered voters) to 10.7 million (7.9%) so far this year. But the increase is much smaller (24%) than on the Democratic side, and the total number of votes cast in Democratic House primaries is considerably higher. U.S. Senate and gubernatorial primaries also is above 2014 levels.

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018/07/27/turnout-in-this-years-u-s-house-primaries-is-up-especially-on-the-democratic-side/

The Democrats will have control of the house of Representatives. The Republicans are likely to keep control in the senate. But once again they have been released from the prison of Trump angry and irrational behavior Mr Trump will be even worse.
