Meet the Michael Aventatti client

I have a firm recollection of seeing boys lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their "turn" inside the room.

Julie Swetnick - now please respect her privacy

  • She furthermore claims she was a victim of one of these train gang rapes.
  • Makes me wonder why any girl would continue to go to these parties where gang raping was the thing to do. How many times do you suppose girls can be tricked by the old spiked punch, gang rape routine?
  • It also seems amazing to me that these repeated gang rapes went unreported by anyone for 36 years. Not a single victim came forward to report anything. Not a single witness said anything to anyone. Not a single parent notified.

Most Oppose Kavanaugh If Ford’s Allegations Are True

A new NPR/PBS/Marist poll finds that if Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh are true, 59% of Americans said they believe the Senate Judiciary Committee should not confirm his nomination to the Supreme Court.

The poll also revealed that 29% of those surveyed would support Kavanaugh’s nomination regardless of the legitimacy of Ford’s allegations, including 54% of Republicans.

Avenatti’s Client Says Kavanaugh Facilitated ‘Gang Rape’

Michael Avenatti revealed his client as Julie Swetnick, a former student at Gaithersburg high School in Maryland, who attended parties in the early 1980s with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Swetnick claims that she saw Kavanaugh fondle and grope girls at high school parties and forcibly try to remove their clothing to reveal their private parts.

She also witnessed Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge trying to “spike” girls’ drinks at parties with drugs “so that they could be taken advantage of” and that she herself was a victim of a gang rape at a party when Kavanaugh was present.

Feinstein Says Kavanaugh Misled Senators

Sen. Dianne Feinstein told Politico that she has now identified another area in which she believes Brett Kavanaugh was not truthful in communications with senators.

“She said that by directing officials to speak to reporters during the investigation of President Bill Clinton, Kavanaugh may have violated grand jury secrecy laws — even though he told her and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) he never broke those rules.”

Democrats Open Up 14-Point Lead In Generic Ballot

A new USC Dornslife/Los Angeles Times poll found Democrats leading Republicans in a generic ballot test, 55% to 41%.

“If that advantage holds up until election day, just less than six weeks away, it would almost surely be large enough to sweep a Democratic majority into the House.”

Another key takeaway: “Likely voters disapprove of Trump’s overall performance in office by 57% to 39%, the poll found. Almost half of likely voters, 49%, said they ‘strongly’ disapprove, while just under one-quarter, 24%, strongly approve.”

Republicans Don’t Have the Votes Yet on Kavanaugh

NBC News: “Senate Republicans don’t yet have the votes to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, even as Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is projecting a public face of certainty.

“But while vote-counters are closely watching a few GOP senators considered to be most threatening to the confirmation, several more Republicans are monitoring events as they unfold and want to see how the hearing with Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused him of sexual assault in high school, will play out on Thursday.”

Said Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN): “I know the media keeps characterizing three or four people, but I feel like it’s a large number of them that want to see firsthand the accusation and the rebuttal, and again, will be looking at it in a very sober way. So I think it’s much larger than you think.”

Politico offers a whip count: “Here’s whip count according to senators + aides: Tester, Jones and Nelson viewed as firm no votes. Heitkamp now more likely to vote no with Cramer comments. Manchin ‘open’ to Kavanaugh and Donnelly a wild card. Donnelly said at caucus today many in Indiana still support Kavanaugh.”

Second Kavanaugh Accuser Is Willing to Testify

John Clune, the attorney for Deborah Ramirez, Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s second accuser, told the Today Show that Ramirez would be willing to testify about her allegations: “She would be willing to testify but we can’t even talk with the Senate Judiciary Committee about what that would look like and they certainly haven’t invited her, so at this point it’s a moot question.”

He added that his client would prefer an FBI investigation first: “It’s the only intelligent way to get to the truth of what happens.”

Axios:
“Emails show negotiations between Ramirez’s attorney and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are at an impasse. Republicans have requested that Ramirez provide evidence of her allegations before moving forward, while her legal team has requested an FBI investigation.”

Swetnick, in the affidavit posted on Twitter by Avenatti, claims that she saw Kavanaugh, as a high school student in Maryland in the early 1980s, and others spike the drinks of girls at house parties with grain alcohol and/or drugs to "cause girls to lose inhibitions and their ability to say 'No.' "

from Republican Rat Bastard's (rrb) linked source:

A third accuser of Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday publicly identified herself and alleged that Kavanaugh and others while in high school spiked the drinks of girls at parties to make it easier for them to be gang raped.

Julie Swetnick's stunning claims, made on the eve of a Senate committee hearing for Kavanaugh and another accuser, came in an affidavit to a Senate staffer that was released by her lawyer. The White House had no immediate comment on Swetnick's allegations, which were signed under penalty of perjury.

Swetnick, 55, identified herself as a resident of Washington, D.C., who has held multiple clearances for work done at the Treasury Department, U.S. Mint, IRS, State Department and Justice Department, among others.

Swetnick, in the affidavit posted on Twitter by Avenatti, claims that she saw Kavanaugh, as a high school student in Maryland in the early 1980s, "drink excessively at many" house parties in suburban Maryland.

She said he engaged in "abusive and physically agressive behavior toward girls."

During the years of 1981 and 1982 she said she learned of efforts by Kavanaugh, his friend Mark Judge and others "to spike the drinks of girls at house parties I attended with grain alcohol and/or drugs so as to cause girls to lose inhibitions and their ability to say 'No.' "

Certain girls were targeted by those boys, and "it was usually a girl that was especially vulnerable because she was alone at the party or shy."

Swetnick said these efforts by Kavanaugh and his buddy Judge were done so the girls "could then be 'gang raped' in a side room or bedroom by a 'train' of numerous boys."

"I have a firm recollection of seeing boys lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their 'turn' with a girl inside the room. These boys included Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh," Swetnick said.

James said...

She also said in her affidavit sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee that in approximately 1982 "I became the victim of one of these 'gang' or 'train' rapes where Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh were present."

"Shortly after the incident, I shared what had transpired with at least two other people," Swetnick said.

"During the incident, I was incapacitated without my consent and unable to fight off the boys raping me., I believe I was drugged using Quaaludes or something similar placed in what I was drinking."

She says that she shared the story of her own alleged gang rape, which she says took place around 1982, with "at least two other people" shortly after it occurred.

Kavanaugh has repeatedly denied committing any sexual misconduct. He also claims to have been a virgin in high school.

A spokeswoman for Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, in response to the affidavit, said, "This morning Michael Avenatti provided a declaration to the Judiciary Committee. Committee lawyers are in the process of reviewing it now."

Ranking Judiciary Committee Democratic member Dianne Feinstein of California did not immediately respond to CNBC's requests for comment on Avenatti's client.

Avenatti had for several days said he had a client, until now unnamed, who had been aware of gang rapes connected to Kavanaugh. His release of Swetnick's affidavit to the chief counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee comes a day before Kavanaugh and another woman accusing him of sexual assault are due to testify at that committee.

Stormy Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti leaves federal court in the Manhattan borough of New York, U.S., April 26, 2018.

That woman, Christine Blasey Ford, said Kavanaugh held her down on a bed and grinded against while Judge watched during a get together at a house in Maryland in the early 1980s, when they were all high school students.

The New Yorker has published a second woman's account.

Deborah Ramirez, a Yale University classmate of Kavanaugh's, alleged that Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a gathering in front of their peers.

Kavanaugh has categorically denied both of those allegations, and has said that "I've never sexually assaulted anyone" in a Fox News interview that aired Monday.

He vowed not to withdraw his nomination for the high court, and said he would clear his name in public testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Attorneys for Christine Blasey Ford have given the Senate Judiciary Committee sworn declarations from four individuals, including her husband, who say she told them in recent years that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh attacked her when they were in high school.

The signed documents — from Ford's husband, Russell, and three friends — were sent to the committee on Tuesday night and obtained by NBC News Wednesday morning, the day before Ford and Kavanaugh are scheduled to testify before the committee about the allegations. The story was first reported by USA Today.

Read the sworn declarations sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee

In one declaration, a friend of Ford, Keith Koegler, says that Ford told him of the alleged assault in early summer 2016, while they were talking about the sentencing of ex-Stanford swimmer Brock Turner, who was convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman.

If a girl is gang raped and chooses not to report it, no other person should report it either, without permission from the one raped.

In such an atmosphere, I can imagine that a girl would say to herself, "I knew this was going on, and should have left before it could happen to me."

The woman in question chose not to report her own rape.

Kavanaugh nomination: Judge says he is victim of ‘character assassination’ as third woman comes forward

Uncertainty looms over Kavanaugh and the GOP after new misconduct allegation

September 26 at 2:06 PM
Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh is scheduled to appear Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee at a high-stakes hearing. The committee will hear from Christine Blasey Ford, a woman who says President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee sexually assaulted her when both were teenagers.

Lawmakers from both parties and lawyers for Kavanaugh and Ford maneuvered for advantage on the eve of the hearing, and President Trump weighed in on the fate of his nominee as a new accuser came forward.

1:45 p.m.: Democrats on Judiciary call for Trump to withdraw Kavanaugh

The 10 Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday asked President Trump to withdraw the nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh after a third woman accused him of sexual misconduct decades ago.

The Democrats also called for Trump to order an FBI investigation into the alleged behavior of his Supreme Court nominee.

“[Kavanaugh] is asking for a lifetime appointment to the nation’s highest court where he will have the opportunity to rule on matters that will impact Americans for decades,” the Democrats said in a statement. “The standard of character and fitness for a position on the nation’s highest court must be higher than this.”

“Judge Kavanaugh has staunchly declared his respect for women and issued blanket denials of any possible misconduct, but those declarations are in serious doubt,” the statement said.

Flake: Remember that Kavanaugh and Ford are 'human'

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) spoke on Sept. 26 about Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford. (U.S. Senate)

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), a key swing vote on Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh’s confirmation, urged his colleagues Wednesday afternoon to recognize the humanity of the Supreme Court nominee and Christine Blasey Ford, a woman who has accused him of sexual assault.

“We sometimes seem intent on stripping people of their humanity so that we might more easily disregard or defame them and put them through the grinder that our politics requires,” Flake said during a speech on the Senate floor. “We seem, sometimes, to even enjoy that.”

Flake, a frequent critic of President Trump, also took the president to task for questioning the credibility of Ford because she did not immediately report the assault that she alleges took place while she and Kavanaugh were in high school.

“I do not believe that a claim of sexual assault is invalid because a 15-year-old girl didn’t promptly report the assault to the authorities, as the president of the United States said just two days ago,” Flake said. “How uninformed and uncaring do you have to be to say things like that, much less believe them? Do we have any idea what kind of message that sends, especially to young women? How many times do we have to marginalize and ignore women before we learn that important lesson?”

12:50 p.m.: Trump attacks Avenatti as ‘a total low-life!’

President Trump on Wednesday lashed out at Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing a new accuser of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh.

“Avenatti is a third rate lawyer who is good at making false accusations, like he did on me and like he is now doing on Judge Brett Kavanaugh,” Trump said in a tweet. “He is just looking for attention and doesn’t want people to look at his past record and relationships - a total low-life!”

Avenatti also represents Stormy Daniels, the adult film actress who was paid by a personal attorney for Trump to remain quiet about an alleged decade-old affair with Trump.

On Wednesday, Avenatti revealed that he is representing Julie Swetnick, who said Kavanaugh was physically abusive toward girls in high school and present at a house party in 1982 where she says she was the victim of a “gang” rape.
________________

12:45 p.m.: Grassley says new accuser won’t affect Thursday’s hearing

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) said the emergence of a third accuser would not affect the hearing scheduled Thursday at which the panel will hear from Christine Blasey Ford about her allegations of sexual assault against Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh.

Speaking to reporters, Grassley cited Ford’s welfare.

“I feel we shouldn’t disadvantage Dr. Ford any more than she’s already been disadvantaged,” he said.

Grassley did not rule out an additional committee hearing in response to the latest allegations, however. “We’re going to take this step by step and you’ll have to ask me that question . . . Thursday night,” he said.

Asked whether Swetnick’s decision to engage Michael Avenatti as her attorney undermined her credibility, Grassley said: “It seems to me he wants to protect people who are involved in pornography and that he’s running for president. I don’t know what his motivations are. I don’t know what his reputation as a lawyer is.”

He added: “What’s really important here isn’t the lawyer, it’s the person that claims she’s been harmed.”

12:30: Kavanaugh says third accuser’s allegations are ‘from the Twilight Zone’

Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh on Wednesday dismissed the allegations of a third accuser as “ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone.”

His statement, released by the White House, came shortly after Julie Swetnick, a Washington resident, said Kavanaugh was physically abusive toward girls in high school and present at a house party in 1982 where she says she was the victim of a “gang” rape.

“This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone,” Kavanaugh said. “I don’t know who this is and this never happened.”

12:20: Schumer calls on GOP to halt confirmation proceedings

Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday called on Republicans to suspend confirmation proceedings for Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh after he was accused of sexual assault decades ago by a third woman.

“There are now multiple, corroborated allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, made under the penalty of perjury, all of which deserve a thorough investigation,” Schumer said in a statement.

“I strongly believe Judge Kavanaugh should withdraw from consideration,” Schumer said. “If he will not, at the very least, the hearing and vote should be postponed while the FBI investigates all of these allegations. If our Republican colleagues proceed without an investigation, it would be a travesty for the honor of the Supreme Court and our country.”
____________

12:15 p.m. Kavanaugh says he is victim of ‘obvious character assassination’

In his prepared testimony for Thursday’s Senate hearing, Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh says he was ‘not perfect’ in high school and drank beer with friends but strongly denies having committed sexual assault.

“In retrospect, I said and did things in high school that make me cringe now,” he says, adding that “sometimes I had too many” when he drank beer.

But Kavanaugh says what he has been accused of by Christine Blasey Ford is altogether different.

“What I’ve been accused of is far more serious than juvenile misbehavior,” Kavanaugh says in testimony released by the Senate Judiciary Committee. “I never did anything remotely resembling what Dr. Ford describes.”

Kavanaugh says he is the victim of “grotesque and obvious character assassination.”

“There has been a frenzy to come up with something — anything, no matter how far-fetched or odious — that will block a vote on my nomination,” Kavanaugh says, in the testimony released by the Senate Judiciary Committee. “These are last minute smears, pure and simple.”

— Michael Avenatti (@MichaelAvenatti) September 26, 2018

Swetnick said she witnessed efforts by Kavanaugh and others to get girls inebriated so they could be “gang raped” in side rooms at house parties by a “train” of numerous boys.

“I have a firm recollection of seeing boys lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their ‘turn’ with a girl inside the room. These boys included Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh.”

Judge is a friend of Kavanaugh whom an earlier accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, said was present when she alleges Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her about 36 years ago.

In her declaration, Swetnick recounts an alleged incident in approximately 1982 in which she says she was the victim of a “gang rape” at which Kavanaugh was present.

She does not say Kavanaugh participated in the alleged rape or what, if any, role he played, nor does she say where the alleged episode took place.

“During the incident, I was incapacitated without my consent and unable to fight off the boys raping me,” Swetnick says. “I believe I was drugged using Quaaludes or something similar placed in what I was drinking.”

Avenatti, the lawyer who represents adult film actress Stormy Daniels, is exploring a bid for the Democratic presidential nomination and spoken out against Trump and his policies, making frequent appearances on cable television.

In his tweet, Avenatti said he is demanding an immediate FBI investigation into his client’s allegations. To this point, Republicans have resisted the idea of an FBI investigation into Kavanaugh’s accusers.

“Under no circumstances should Brett Kavanaugh be confirmed absent a full and complete investigation,” Avenatti said.

A Judiciary Committee spokesman acknowledged having received the declaration from Swetnick.

“This morning Michael Avenatti provided a declaration to the Judiciary Committee,” spokesman Taylor Foy said. “Committee lawyers are in the process of reviewing it now.”

Ford, a professor from California, has alleged that a drunken Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when both were teenagers in Montgomery County.

10 a.m.: McConnell says Democrats dragging Kavanaugh ‘through the mud’

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blasted Democrats on the eve of a hearing featuring an accuser of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, saying they were dragging the Supreme Court nominee and his family “right through the mud.”

In a floor speech, McConnell noted that the allegations of Christine Blasey Ford had been relayed to a Democratic senator in a confidential letter that did not leak out until the confirmation process was nearing its end.

“What lessons can we draw from this?” McConnell said. “If you write to Senate Democrats in complete confidence about an extremely sensitive matter, you will soon wind up a household name, and if you’re a public servant whose confirmation the far left happens to oppose because they dislike the fact that you will interpret the law and the constitution according to what they mean ... they will not hesitate to weaponize uncorroborated allegations and drag your name and your family right through the mud. That’s what these guys will do to you.”

9:30 a.m.: Trump praised Kavanaugh as ‘an absolute gem’

President Trump praised his Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh and continued to attack Democrats on Sept. 26. (Reuters)

President Trump on Wednesday called Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh “an absolute gem” and again accused Democrats of a “con game” as they try to derail his Supreme Court nominee.

In comments at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Trump also praised the work of Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee, saying they had been very respectful of Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford, a professor from California.

“The Republicans could not be nicer, could not be more respectful of the process, certainly could not be more respectful to the woman, and I’m okay with that.” Trump said. “I think I might have pushed it forward a lot faster.”

He also praised Kavanaugh, saying he is “outstanding.”

“You don’t find people like this,” Trump said. “He’s outstanding. He’s a gem. He’s an absolute gem, and he’s been treated very unfairly by the Democrats, who are playing a con game. They know what they’re doing. It’s a con. They go into a backroom and they talk with each other and they laugh at what they’re getting away with.”

9:20 a.m.: Ford releases sworn declarations from husband and three friends

Attorneys for Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who says Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when both were teenagers, have sent four sworn declarations to the Senate from people who say Ford told them of her allegations before Kavanaugh was nominated to the Supreme Court.

The declarations — from Ford’s husband and three friends — do not provide direct corroboration of the alleged attack but suggest Ford shared details about her recollection in the years before Kavanaugh’s nomination by President Trump on July 9.

Only one account, from Russell Ford, the husband of the California professor, has been previously reported.

Meanwhile, lawyers for Kavanaugh released five pages of his calendar from 1982 to news organizations in an attempt to bolster his contention that he was not at a house party with Ford 36 years ago.

The calendar, which has been shared with the Judiciary Committee, includes several weeks that summer, which were blocked out for trips to the beach and sports camps. It also includes many detailed appointments, such as one for a haircut.

7:45 a.m.: Ramirez lawyer says she would be willing to testify

John Clune, a lawyer for a second accuser of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, said Wednesday morning that his client would be willing to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee but wants the FBI to investigate her claims.

Deborah Ramirez, a classmate of Kavanaugh’s at Yale University, told the New Yorker magazine that he exposed himself to her at a party when they were both first-year students.

“She would be willing to testify, but she wants to us to be able to have this conversation about what this is going to look like, what the process is going to be and if there is going to be an FBI investigation into what happened in her case.”

Republicans have resisted calls from Democrats to have the FBI investigate Kavanaugh’s accusers.

7:30 a.m.: Kavanaugh lawyer says focus on drinking is ‘totally unfair’

Beth Wilkinson, a lawyer for Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, said Wednesday that it is “totally unfair” for critics of the Supreme Court nominee to suggest that an admission that he drank beer in high school had some bearing on allegations of sexual assault.

During an appearance on “CBS This Morning,” Wilkinson also downplayed the importance of items on Kavanaugh’s yearbook page, saying they were not evidence of an assault against Christine Blasey Ford.

“When [Kavanaugh] spoke on television the other day, he admitted that, you know, he has had beers,” Wilkinson said. “I think that’s true of most people in college. He’s admitted that maybe he drank more than he should have on certain occasions, and of course he has his yearbook page. I think most of us would go back and probably wish we could rewrite our yearbook page, whether it was, you know, our choice of music or the kind of silly, stupid things that we put on there.”

“But that really doesn’t go to whether he did what he’s accused of,” she said. “I think that’s really the problem. I think because people can’t find corroboration for these things, they’re now going out and saying, ‘Well, he was doing other things that make you think it’s more likely.’”

Gabriel Pogrund contributed to this report.

Swetnick is about 3 1/2 to 4 years older than Kavanaugh. So whe she was 16 Kavanaught was 12. When she graduated from high school Kavanaugh was finishing his freshman year. In your teens that is a hugh socal gap. It's highly unlikely she actually attended the same parties Kavanaugh did. And for sure it would be extremely unlikely she would be attending high school parties after she went to college.

That's just not done.

Swetnick is my age, but said she attended High School in DC from 1981 to 1983, which would equate to my Freshman and Sophomore years of College. My last year of school was 1980-1981. If I went a house Party in 1982, I would have been a Sophomore in college.

This would make her two years older, but according to her, in the same Grade as Kavanaugh. Something doesn't jive. Either her years do not match up, she was held back at least one year in school, or she was a college aged person attending high school parties.

So to summerize:

She graduated high school in 1980.

She stated between 1981 and 1983 as an adult she attended 10 high school parties wher she witness or was a victim of gang rape.

But did not report it to the police or warn any other girls of the danger they are in. The only thing she did was to protect herself by not drinking the punch..

And here is the topper. On being questioned by judicial commettee staffers she could not name any coarberating witnesses.

Senate probing new allegation of misconduct against Kavanaugh,

WASHINGTON — The Senate Judiciary Committee is inquiring about at least one additional allegation of misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, according to a letter obtained by NBC News and multiple people familiar with the process.

Republican Senate investigators asked Kavanaugh about the new complaint, NBC News has learned, during a phone call on Tuesday between Kavanaugh and committee staff. Sources told NBC News that Kavanaugh denied the allegation in the letter during the call and a spokesman for the committee declined to comment.

A Republican aide on the committee said the conversation took place shortly after noon. While Republican staff posed questions to Kavanaugh, their Democratic counterparts were also on the call but did not ask any questions.

According to an anonymous complaint sent to Republican Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado, Kavanaugh physically assaulted a woman he socialized with in the Washington, D.C., area in 1998 while he was inebriated.

The sender of the complaint described an evening involving her own daughter, Kavanaugh and several friends in 1998.

“When they left the bar (under the influence of alcohol) they were all shocked when Brett Kavanaugh, shoved her friend up against the wall very aggressively and sexually.”

“There were at least four witnesses including my daughter.” The writer of the letter provided no names but said the alleged victim was still traumatized and had decided to remain anonymous herself.

A Democratic source said the minority wasn’t satisfied by the Republicans’ questions about the incident during the call, calling them cursory, and believed it should be investigated more deeply.

NBC News reached out to the White House for comment.

Kavanaugh, a federal judge who was nominated to the Supreme Court on July 9, has staunchly denied public allegations from three women alleging sexual misconduct.

President Trump on Wednesday placed himself at the center of the anguished national debate over sexual assault, suggesting in his defense of embattled Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh that the #MeToo movement was “very dangerous” and unfairly threatened an entire class of powerful men.

Trump’s expansive argument cast doubt on the credibility not only of the three women who have accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault, but also on scores of other women who have claimed sexual abuse by prominent men, including the president himself.
