Federal judge blocks Keystone XL pipeline, dealing a major blow to Trump

NEW YORK (AP) -- A video distributed by the Trump administration to support its argument for banning CNN reporter Jim Acosta from the White House appears to have been doctored to make Acosta look more aggressive than he was during an exchange with a White House intern, an independent expert said Thursday.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted the video, which shows Acosta asking President Donald Trump a question on Wednesday as the intern tries to take his microphone away. But a frame-by-frame comparison with an Associated Press video of the same incident shows that the one tweeted by Sanders appears to have been altered to speed up Acosta's arm movement as he touches the intern's arm, according to Abba Shapiro, an independent video producer who examined the footage at AP's request.

Earlier, Shapiro noticed that frames in the tweeted video were frozen to slow down the action, allowing it to run the same length as the AP one.

This certainly settles it....Whitaker is eminently qualified to act... as AG,,,,,,Unlike fat ass donnie...!!

Nine former athletes were elected to public office on Tuesday night, but one former athlete just got a major promotion without having to run for election.

Matthew Whitaker was tabbed by President Donald Trump to become Acting Attorney General on Wednesday after Trump fired (now-former) Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Whitaker was Sessions’ chief of staff, and he was also a tight end for the University of Iowa football team in the early 90s.

Whitaker grew up in Iowa, and was a football star at Ankeny High School. And he was actually a star — his achievements led to his 2009 induction in the Iowa High School Football Hall of Fame. The backup tight end played under coach Hayden Fry at the University of Iowa, and was the starting tight end when Iowa played (and lost to) the Washington Huskies in the 1991 Rose Bowl.

Whitaker made one catch in the 1991 Rose Bowl, and he told HawkeyeNation.com that it stands tall in his memory.

A day after Judge Glenn Devlin of Houston lost his reelection bid, he released nearly all of the juvenile defendants who appeared before him, as long as they answered no when he asked if they planned to kill anyone.

Devlin, one of the 59 Republican jurists in Harris County who was replaced by Democrats, allegedly said: “This is obviously what the voters wanted,” when he released juveniles who have been charged with a wide range of crimes, according to ABC 10.

It is not known how many juveniles were released, but the number, according to the outlet, is at least seven — four of whom faced aggravated robbery charges.

Anybody that knows anything about Florida elections (And that excludes you Dennis) know that the statewide reporting authority for elecfions resides with the Secretary of State, not the Attorney General.

The Secretary of State's roll is little more than a coordernator for statewide and multi-county congressional elections. The real power to run the elections reside with the 67 county supervisors of elections.

65 out of the 67 counties reliably and honestly run their elections. These include predominantly Democratic counties of Leon, Pinallis, Hillsbourgh, Alachlua, and Orange counties. Only Broward and Palm Beach counties can't get their act togather.

Trump Played Central Role In Hush Money Payoffs

President Trump intervened directly to suppress stories about his extramarital relationships with Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, the Wall Street Journal reports.

“Taken together, the accounts refute a two-year pattern of denials by Mr. Trump, his legal team and his advisers that he was involved in payoffs to Ms. McDougal and a former adult-film star. They also raise the possibility that the president of the United States violated federal campaign-finance laws.

“The Wall Street Journal found that Mr. Trump was involved in or briefed on nearly every step of the agreements. He directed deals in phone calls and meetings with his self-described fixer, Michael Cohen, and others. The U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan has gathered evidence of Mr. Trump’s participation in the transactions.”

Florida teacher finds ‘provisional ballot box’ in storage area

By Joe Tacopino

November 8, 2018 | 7:08pm | Updated

A teacher in Florida found a container labeled “Provisional Ballot Box” in a storage area of her elementary school on Thursday.

Lakeisha Williams, of Broward County, said she discovered the ballot box two days after Election Day at Miramar Elementary School — where it was apparently left behind by election workers.

“I went into the area that we use for storage and saw it in there,” Williams told The Post.

Williams said she did not touch or look inside the box. Instead, she told the school’s principal and they decided to contact a local state representative.

“I don’t know where it is now,” Williams said, noting that all provisional ballots needed to be received by county officials before 5 p.m. Thursday.

Votes are still being counted in the Sunshine State."

It ain't over until it's over. The blue Wave is a.

While much of the post-election attention is being sucked up by vote-counting chaos in Florida (who could have predicted it), there’s another Senate race with an ongoing dispute over votes that may have escaped your attention. This race’s conclusion might help upend the conventional wisdom about the 2018 election.

And guess what, Republicans are suing to prevent all the votes from being counted:

As the Arizona Senate vote count starts to tip into Democratic terrain, a judge Friday will hear a lawsuit by the GOP seeking to limit the tally — or expand it in the state’s conservative-leaning rural areas.

Four local Republican parties filed a lawsuit Wednesday night challenging the state’s two biggest counties for allowing voters to help resolve problems with their mail-in ballot signatures after Election Day. If the signature on the voter registration doesn’t match that on the sealed envelope, both Maricopa and Pima County allow voters to help them fix, or “cure” it, up to five days after Election Day.

We seem to see the same pattern over and over again: A race is extremely close, Democrats demand that every vote be counted, and Republicans, having spent the time leading up to the election putting up as many hurdles as possible to voting, particularly among minority groups, try to shut down the counting before all the votes can be counted. This effort is carried out with lawsuits and through an intense propaganda campaign roping in every Republican with a functioning larynx and often centered on Fox News, where the president’s good friend Sean Hannity is whipping himself into hysterical outrage and demanding that “Somebody needs to go to jail here” because votes are still being counted in Florida.

So what’s taking so long in Arizona? On election night, Republican Martha McSally led the Senate race there, a result which helped solidify a narrative in the media that while Democrats did well to win control of the House, Republicans practically ran the table in the Senate and because of that the election was basically a wash. That narrative is completely wrong, which I’ll elaborate on in a moment, but as of now, Democrat Kyrsten Sinema is leading McSally by just over 9,000 votes.

But we don’t know if that will hold, because there still appear to be hundreds of thousands of votes to count. Things are moving so slowly in Arizona because the state counts the election day votes first, then moves on to the early and mail-in votes, which make up most of the votes in the state. That’s why Maricopa County — which accounts for more than half of Arizona voters — has hundreds of thousands of ballots still to count. Here’s one incredible detail from the county’s chief election official:

Fontes said his office’s 1980s-era computer system is partly to blame. It was put in when Maricopa was far smaller and only a handful of its residents voted by mail.

He said the system only allows his office to tally about 75,000 votes a day. There are another 375,000 votes outstanding in Maricopa County alone as of Thursday night.

The tally in Maricopa is extremely close, with Sinema slightly leading, so anything could happen.

I have never met Mr Whitaker. Trump this morning on the way to Europe in a press conference.

Matthew Whitaker, whom President Donald Trump named as his acting attorney general on Wednesday, privately provided advice to the president last year on how the White House might be able to pressure the Justice Department to investigate the president’s political adversaries.

Whitaker was an outspoken critic of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe before he became the chief of staff to Attorney General Jeff Sessions in September 2017. That has rightfully raised concerns that Whitaker might now attempt to sabotage Mueller’s investigation. But new information suggests that Whitaker — while working for Sessions — advocated on behalf of, and attempted to facilitate, Trump’s desire to exploit the Justice Department and FBI to investigate the president’s enemies.

He could be facing a Constitutional crisis.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Not late voting. The only issue is that the late voting and mailings and in some States there are provisional ballots. They have to be clarified as legitimate before they are counted.

I guess that you don't care.

President Donald Trump said Friday that he didn't know Matt Whitaker — the man he tapped to replace Jeff Sessions as attorney general on an acting basis — and claimed he hadn't discussed special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe with him.

"I didn't speak to Matt Whitaker" about the federal probe into Russian election interference, Trump told reporters on the White House South Lawn on Friday.

"I don't know Matt Whitaker," Trump added. "He was always extremely highly thought of and still is."

Whitaker, who had served as Sessions's chief of staff since late 2017, was tapped by Trump on Wednesday to become acting attorney general after Sessions resigned at the president's request.

Trump: Didn't speak to Whitaker about Mueller probe before appointing him
He therefore took over the role of overseeing Mueller's work from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and will be, at least temporarily, in a position to have a significant impact on the scope of the probe.

Sessions had recused himself from overseeing the probe because of his involvement with Trump's presidential campaign.

In an interview that aired less than one month ago, Trump said he did "know Whitaker."

"I can tell you Matt Whitaker is a great guy, I know Matt Whitaker," he told "Fox and Friends" during an Oct. 11 telephone interview.

Is he lying or he just doesn't remember??

Either way it is very disturbing.

Did voting problems influence outcome in Georgia election?

Nov 09, 2018
By Alan Judd, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter...More
A poll worker in Atlanta hoarded the last of his precinct’s provisional ballots, doling them out to select voters while turning others away.

Cobb County wouldn’t let a new resident cast a ballot even though both her driver’s license and her voter registration card displayed her new address.

Fulton County still can’t verify that it received an Atlanta woman’s ballot in October. When the woman asked an election official over the telephone whether her vote had counted, she said the official “just kind of snorted.”

Such irregularities appear to have occurred across Georgia in this week’s election for governor and other statewide offices, according to interviews by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution with voters, campaign operatives and election officials.

However, no evidence emerged of systematic malfeasance – or of enough tainted votes to force a runoff election between Republican Brian Kemp and Democrat Stacey Abrams.

The race remained too close to call Friday, three days after voting concluded. In unofficial returns, Kemp led with 50.3 percent of the vote. That is about 13,000 more than half the 3.9 million votes cast; runoffs occur when no candidate gets at least one vote more than 50 percent.

Republican Brian Kemp, appearinig with Gov. Nathan Deal, resigned as Georgia’s secretary of state Thursday after declaring himself the winner over Democrat Stacey Abrams. BOB ANDRES / BANDRES@AJC.COM (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
As county and state election officials prepared to certify the results early next week, Abrams’ campaign spent Friday trying to ensure that provisional ballots cast by voters whose eligibility was questioned on Election Day are recorded. Voters filed into voter registration offices with evidence of their identities, their addresses, their citizenship or other details that could prove their eligibility.

Some were not successful.

Spelman College freshmen Kennedy Hayes and Maya Barefield said they registered this fall – Hayes during a voter registration drive on the Atlanta campus, Barefield on a form she mailed to the Secretary of State’s office. But they had to cast provisional ballots on Election Day after poll workers couldn’t verify their registrations. The result was the same Friday at the Fulton County elections office. Both students, who had been eager to vote for Abrams, a Spelman alumna, left disappointed, their votes uncounted.

“It’s really disheartening,” Barefield said. “I’ve wanted to vote since I was 15 and first started getting interested in politics. And I wanted to vote for someone I really want to be governor. Knowing my vote isn’t going to help when it’s so close – it’s just sad.”

As bad as Nancy Pelosi is the Democrats want to choose someone worse for speaker.

Someone who will guarantee the next Congress will be investigation, investigation, investigation.

You're going to see a political party commit suicide on national TV.

you're going to see that anyway. the kamikaze wing of the democrat party seized control on inauguration day. who is speaker is a distinction without a difference. max-scene is being made chairman of a finance committee. rich, since she's been investigated for financial corruption. schiff is as big a liar and leaker as we've seen in DC in decades. and now he's going to run the intel cmte. and old jerry golden corral nadler himself is going to run the judiciary cmte. geniuses all.

so fuck it, let nancy be speaker. the bonus is we get to see her have a mini stroke every time she's on camera. it's good for a laugh.

then let the dems go down the same road the GOP did with clinton. and it will end much the same way - with trump's popularity high, and his re-election secured.

to me, the only unknown will be whether or not the left decides to turn our cold civil war into a hot one. and i'm up for either.

During a Friday morning gaggle with White House reporters before Trump's trip to Paris, CNN's Abby Phillip asked the president if he was hoping Whitaker, who previously criticized Robert Mueller's special counsel investigation, would "rein in" the Russia probe. "Do you want [Whitaker] to rein in Robert Mueller?" Phillip asked.

Trump's response left the stunned reported speechless. "What a stupid question that is," Trump said and, just in case it was lost, repeated "what a stupid question."

"But I watch you a lot," Trump continued. "You ask a lot of stupid questions."

Trump then demonstrably walked away, leaving the shocked reporters screaming more questions in his wake.

A lost cause.

"Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema expanded her lead to 20,203 votes over GOP Rep. Martha McSally Friday evening as Arizona election authorities continued to count ballots in the state’s uncalled Senate race.

Sinema’s lead amounts to just over 1 percentage point after more than 2 million votes have been counted. Sinema was up by 9,610 votes earlier in the day before the counties processed approximately 80,000 additional votes Friday -- but slightly more than 350,000 ballots have yet to be counted across the state."

Benny‏Verified account @bennyjohnson

So you're telling me the army of reporters who feverishly advanced every conceivable conspiracy theory of Russian election meddling in 2016 - without proof of a single fraudulent vote - see nothing wrong with thousands & thousands of votes popping up from nowhere in AZ, FL, GA?
