Martha McSalley appointed to Senate in Arizona

Taking over from Jon Kyl, from John McCain

Will presumably run in 2020 as a pseudo-incumbent. Not sure she is the best choice, considering she could not defeat a Democrat who routinely made fun of the entire state of Arizona and had no problems with Americans joining the Taliban. But perhaps she is the best that they have.

Obviously, two years as a Senator will work to her benefit. But I still find this a dubious pick (from a strategic standpoint).

The problem is that there's no one who was really better.
