To be clear, I think that this movement had gained some momentum over the past few weeks with some fairly peaceful protests over what many do agree is an unfair tax. The whole gas tax deal seems a bit Hunger Games in the design. You set up a tax that greatly burdens our outlying cities and towns, while using the funds to pay for things that likely benefit the big city (Paris).
But with the sort of violence that took place over the past few days here, I believe that these actions may have damaged the cause. Sadly, it's probably not the fault of the yellow jackets themselves, as it's likely that it wasn't even the normal protesters who may have been turning things violent. Most people believe that the cause has been infiltrated with far left and far right groups who are simply using the yellow jacket cause as an excuse to go ransack things and set some stuff on fire.
But either way, this sort of violence and destruction (especially in a city like Paris) is simply bad optics. You don't look mad, you look out of control.

it's morbidly fascinating to watch western europe commit suicide, and to do it so deliberately in the name of diversity and warmyl cooling.

This is why Democrats should never be in control of anything. Not Congress. Not the Presidency, not state legislatures, not governors, not even mayors and city/county commissioners.
