But do Border Agency Officials know about how to secure a border?

Federal border officials pressed the case today for a border wall — even as Democrats showed no sign of yielding to President Donald Trump’s $5.7 billion funding request. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials hosted a background press briefing to highlight the value of barriers as part of a broader system that prevents illegal entries.
“The barrier itself is the backbone of the system,” said one CBP official at the briefing, which was held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. The official added that a barrier is “not as effective without technology or without access roads.”
So, yeah. Why listen to the experts, facts, or anything else? Just listen to your liberal media parroting the Democratic talking points memo, and citing skewed polling instead.

Now it is one thing to oppose the wall because you are actually not in favor of border security in general. While almost nobody openly makes this argument, ultimately it is the de facto standard belief for most liberals.

But it's quite another if you are one of those who is trying to argue that a fence is ineffectual. There is quite literally no historical, statistical, or logistical evidence that a southern barrier doesn't work to help border agents better patrol the border. All evidence suggests that border crossings are reduced by as much as 95 percent in areas where there is fencing. Every pre-Trump Presidency opinion on the subject (including Chuck Schumer) involves praise for the wall,. All of the actual arguments made by border agents and those who represent them are strongly in favor or more barriers being built.

All the left is doing is passing along liberal rhetoric.

Border agency officials push wall amid shutdown standoff

Of course officials who work for trump will support the boss.....seems the rank and file feel otherwise......

Poll shows federal workers don't prefer a border wall to getting paid
Dylan Stableford 4 hours ago

President Trump has claimed repeatedly that most federal workers support his tactic of shutting down the government to enforce his demand for a border wall — including those directly affected by it. But a new poll of government employees shows that few actually do.

According to the survey conducted by the Government Business Council and GovExec.com and released Tuesday, 71 percent of federal workers oppose the shutdown, compared to just 21 percent who support it. Just 34 percent of federal employees surveyed support Trump’s demand for funding for the wall, while 56 percent oppose it. And of those workers against the wall, more than 80 percent say they are strongly opposed to it.

There is quite literally much historical, statistical, or logistical evidence that a very long barrier will work to help border agents better patrol the border.

The Russians constructed a wall between East and West Germany. It had armed security guards with permission to use deadly force were not very effective in keeping people from seeking asylum.

We are not going to have effective control over hundreds of miles of open country barriers.

There has been rhetorical hate on the blog, supporting the use of deadly force against families attempting to enter the United States, and leaving their bodies to rot as a deterrent for illegal immigration.

What the President is proposing is contrary to American values. The people who support his campaign promises are using right wing rhetoric.

You got this one wrong, Rog...

"Given the lie" would be more appropriate.

The FACT is that in places where this is a border barrier, the crossings diminish by upwards of 95% and it takes about 10% of the resources to patrol, that it does for open borders.

This is why Border Security Agency has always and still do suggest not only that it is important, but that it's the first priority. Everything else works "around" the fact that they would like a physical barrier.

I have to ask you a serious question Rog.

Given:

- All facts state that a barrier works.
- most everyone (including Schumer) supported the barrier prior to Trump.
- Those who secure the border for a living see it as the first spending priority.

Do you actually "believe" what the Democrats are saying?

The bombshell story by the New York times reported on the motive for the investigation was triggered by the President and his actions in response to the requests of the Russian government.

your "bombshell" has backfired on the FBI and their behavior in a big way. you obviously have only been watching MSDNC seeking updates on the story.

The Times breathlessly frames its story as the revelation that Trump might have been “secretly working on behalf of Russia.” Right on cue, the anti-Trump fraternity went into full-swivet mode. Probably the most comical contribution to this almanack of rhetorical incontinence was written by Max Boot, who offered “18 Reasons Why Trump Could Be a Russian Asset.” Reason number one: that Trump, the head of a multi-billion dollar real-estate development company with interests all over the world, had business dealings with Russia. Excellent, Max!

In fact, though, what the Times story revealed was simply that, pace repeated assurances by James Comey, Trump was the target of the investigation from the beginning. As McCarthy notes, “the only thing the story shows is that the FBI, after over a year of investigation, simply went overt about something that had been true from the first. The investigation commenced during the 2016 campaign by the Obama administration—the Justice Department and the FBI—was always about Donald Trump.” Moreover,

"The FBI and DOJ knew this would be controversial—the incumbent administration spying on the opposition campaign in the absence of corroborated evidence of a crime."

Let’s pause to ponder that last bit: “spying on the opposition campaign in the absence of corroborated evidence of a crime.” “Controversial”? You think? How about nefarious and probably criminal? Richard Nixon is unavailable for comment.

In a way, you have to admire the cunning of the Obama minions. Faced with exposure of their “controversial” tactic, they went to work. “[T]hey designed the investigation,” McCarthy explains,

"in a way that allowed them to focus on Trump without saying they were doing so. Before Trump was elected, they papered the files to indicate that they were focusing on the Trump campaign or people connected to it, like Page and Papadopoulos. This way, they could try to collect evidence about Trump without formally documenting that Trump was the target."

In other words, we are staring into the bowels of the biggest political scandal in the history of the United States. Americans pride themselves on living in a republic in which the peaceful transfer of power is a hallmark of our political life. But what we have here is an effort by one administration to thwart that process. Remember: there was no crime. There was always only the Steele Dossier, that rancid pile of slander that was paid for by Trump’s political opponents. That was the stated basis for the FISA warrants: uncorroborated rumor instigated and circulated by the Clinton campaign.

according to new information released by Republicans on the House Oversight Committee.

Two of President Donald Trump's Republican allies on Capitol Hill are raising questions about a leak investigation involving Baker in a letter to the Justice Department on Tuesday. Baker has become a central focus of some Republicans recently as his closed-door testimony to lawmakers last fall confirmed that top officials at the FBI were concerned that the President may have been working to benefit Russia, particularly after the firing of FBI Director James Comey.
In a letter to US Attorney John Durham, Reps. Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan of the conservative House Freedom Caucus cite a previously undisclosed portion of Baker's transcript where his lawyer interjected to say: "he's been the subject of a leak investigation that is ... still active at the Justice Department."

This was a Chuck Schumer quote.

Proof positive that the Chuckster used to support a wall prior to Trump becoming President.

You continue to show your cognitive dissonance by simply refusing to accept reality.

Reality - these border barriers work by statistical evidence
Reality - Border agents and the border agency are strongly in favor of more spending on the border barrier.
Reality - Democrats like Chuck Schumer were for the border barrier "before" Trump became for it.

Now you can choose to accept these facts (and they are all undisputed facts) or you can continue to wallow in your cognitive dissonance and bias confirmation.

If you actually wanted effective border security.

Then you would provide the funding and allow the border security agency and those who are in charge decide how to use the funding in a manner that they feel would best help them do their jobs.

If the Democrats are correct, then the border security agency will not use any funds to build a wall, they would simply use the funds in the same manner that Democrats suggest that they should.

But of course, the Democrats would never allow the people who are in charge of this to make their "own" decisions... because they know that those in charge of border security don't agree with them.

So they want to chop them off at the knees... and call their security tactics "immoral"

here's some logic that even roger might be able to comprehend:

Democratic opposition to construction of a border wall is ostensibly based on three primary contentions: a border wall (1) is immoral, (2) doesn’t work, and (3) is racist.

The first two contentions are utterly nonsensical for a host of reasons, not the least of which is that they can’t both be true. If a wall is immoral because it keeps out desperate migrants, then it must work.

The accusation of “racist,” progressives’ default epithet for nearly everything they oppose, is similarly incoherent. It’s true that there would be a disparate impact on “people of color” if a wall were built on the southern border. But to paraphrase Willie Sutton, that’s where the illegal immigrants are. A wall is colorblind.

The Left habitually conflates facially neutral policies that have racially disparate results with racism. That’s because more than half a century after passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, instances of disparate treatment and intentional racial discrimination are increasingly difficult to find. Disparate impact is a far easier standard to meet. As my colleague Gail Heriot says, there’s not a standard, test, or policy that doesn’t have disparate impacts between different groups. Invoking disparate impact provides the Left with almost unlimited opportunities to engage in racial and social engineering to “correct” the disparities.

The same progressives who maintain that a wall is racist are utterly silent about the adverse impact of illegal immigration on black Americans. More than any other group in America, blacks are harmed by the influx of illegal immigrants. Numerous studies outline the economic impact of illegal immigration on black employment and wages. Hundreds of thousands of black workers have been displaced due to competition from low-skilled illegal immigrants, particularly in the service, hospitality, construction, and agricultural sectors of the economy. Yet not one protest from members of the Congressional Black Caucus, who have anointed themselves the guardians of black interests, nothing from the Democratic party that takes black votes for granted, nothing from members of news media who breathlessly broadcast any racial disparity under some version of the headline “World Ends; Women and Minorities Hardest Hit.”

In contrast to neutral policies that have an unintentional racial impact, however, the failure to secure our borders happens with knowledge of, but indifference to, the fact that blacks are particularly harmed by illegal immigration.

Blacks simply can’t compete with progressives’ hatred of Trump and desire to enhance their electoral prospects.

It also would have added to the construction of a physical border, including double fencing. And it would have added to the amount of virtual security like drones and mobile surveillance.

That bill would have set aside a whopping $46.3 billion over ten years to move toward the more militarized border. But with the federal government now spending nearly $4 billion per year on border security, it’s not much less than what the Gang of Eight would have hoped.

yup, except for one thing -

it's extremely easy to get behind an issue that you know deep down inside has no chance of passing and/or being implemented, and that's what democrats like 0linsky, clinton and schumer did, and counted on.

they knew goddamn well there was no fucking way that what they assured us they wanted would pass or be implemented...

...until now. until TRUMP.

hence their flip-flop on the issue.

if you always operate from the perspective that democrats are being dishonest, deceptive and disingenuous, the riddle solves itself.

Reagan got fucked by democrats and had to learn the hard way.

H.W. Bush got fucked by democrats and had to learn the hard way.

trump has those two glaring examples to guide him, and therefore he's not taking the bait.

democrats: "please re-open the government so we can negotiate a resolution to this issue."

trump: "go fuck yourself."

What Trump, what the Border Security Agency wants, and what is being proposed is an expansion of the exact same sort of non-scalable steel barriers that were previously built with the money granted from previous border security bills that Schumer and other Democrats supported.

Trump has stated that he doesn't require a concrete "wall" - but rather just the border barrier as desired by the border agency.

So you are simply arguing "semantics" here, Denny.

The fact that the same structure was called a "fence" in 2006 and some are calling it a "wall" in 2019 does not change the fact that Schumer and Democrats...

CUOMO: First of all, crime is not the bar of accountability for a president. It’s about what you knew --

GIULIANI: Well, he didn’t collude with Russia either!

CUOMO: -- what was right, and what was wrong, and what did you deceive about? Those are going to be major considerations.

GIULIANI: The president did not collude with the Russians.

CUOMO: He said nobody had any contact, tons of people had contact. Nobody colluded, the guy running his campaign --

GIULIANI: He didn’t say nobody --

CUOMO: -- was working on an issue at the same time as the convention.

GIULIANI: He said he didn’t. He didn’t say nobody. How would you know that nobody in your campaign --

CUOMO: He actually did say that, Rudy. He said, nobody, and then he said, as far as I know.

GIULIANI: Well, as far as he knows, it’s true.

The Secure Fence Act of 2006

The Secure Fence Act of 2006, which was passed by a Republican Congress and signed by President George W. Bush, authorized about 700 miles of fencing along certain stretches of land between the border of the United States and Mexico.

It's not just semantics as you claim.

Leftists Mock Trump’s ‘Fast Food’ Buffet, But Let’s FLASHBACK To When Obama Spent $65k On Hot Dogs

However, when Obama did something very similar, the media never batted an eye.

Emails from global intelligence firm Stratfor, released by WikiLeaks in 2012, show that the Obama administration spent $65,000 of taxpayer money to fly hot dogs to a private dinner party at the White House in 2009.
“RE: Get ready for ‘Chicago Hot Dog Friday,’” read the email’s subject line sent by Chief Innovation Officer Aaric S. Eisenstein.

“If we get the same ‘waitresses,’ I’m all for it!!!” replied Stratfor Vice President Fred Burton replied, asking if they would be “using the same channels.”

“I think Obama spent about $65,000 of the tax-payers money flying in pizza/dogs from Chicago for a private party at the White House not long ago, assume we are using the same channels?” he said.

Under President Donald Trump's administration, thousands more kids may have been separated from their parents at the border under the Trump administration than was previously thought, according to an internal government report released Thursday, with a "steep increase" of such cases a year before "zero tolerance" began.

The latest findings by the Health and Human Services Inspector General's office suggests that tough immigration policies embraced early in Trump's term contributed to the family separations.

Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents were able to apprehend a previously deported child sex offender who tried re-entering the country with a group of other foreign nationals.

A CBP camera operator on Jan. 11 discovered 24 individuals illegally crossing into the United States near the San Luis, Arizona, Port of Entry. The caravan, which was made up mostly of Central American family units, immediately surrendered when confronted by agents.

Among the group was Marcos Velasquez-Taperio, a 37-year-old Guatemalan national who was convicted of aggravated indecent liberties with a minor in Ford County, Kansas, in 2009. After serving 32 months in prison, Velasquez-Taperio was deported to his home country. CBP, which reported the arrest Wednesday, said Velasquez-Taperio will now be prosecuted for re-entry after deportation.

News of the arrest immediately followed the apprehension of Wilfredo Perez-Aguilar, another sex offender from Guatemala. Perez-Aguilar, who was caught Monday trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in Southern California, was convicted in 2005 of sexual abuse and rape of a minor under the age of 12 in Kentucky.

A bystander, Roger Amick of W. Covina CA was quoted as saying - "I don't see what the big deal is. These people are simply trying to come here for a better life and to vote Democrat. That's worth a few child rape victims if you ask me."

The Titanic Hypocrisy of the Republican Party

Tom Nichols: “This is not normal, in any way. As things stand, more people in the Kremlin than in Washington know what Trump said to Putin. It is almost certain that there are readouts and analyses of Trump’s discussions with Putin — but that for now, they are in Russian.

“Finally, it is exhausting but nonetheless necessary to point out again the titanic hypocrisy of the Republican Party and of Trump’s apologists in the conservative media. If President Barack Obama had shredded his notes of a meeting with the Iranian president, or if Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager were sitting in jail for lying about meeting a Chinese business associate — and alleged intelligence officer — to share polling data, that alone would have been enough for the GOP to impeach everyone from the president to the White House chef.”

President Trump’s former fixer and personal attorney Michael Cohen paid a technology expert to rig online polls in Trump’s favor, the Wall Street Journal reports.

John Gauger, the owner of Red Finch Solutions and chief information officer at Liberty University, said Cohen offered him $50,000 to rig two online polls. Cohen handed Gauger a Walmart bag loaded with about $12,000 in cash during a 2015 meeting at Cohen’s Trump Organization office, but he never paid him the remainder of the promised $50,000.

'The Atlantic’ Calls for Trump’s Impeachment
0
The Atlantic, in its cover story: “The Founders worried about electing a president who lacked character or a sense of honor, but Americans have long since lost the moral vocabulary to articulate such concerns explicitly, preferring to look instead for demonstrable violations of rules that illuminate underlying character flaws. It is Trump’s unfitness for office that necessitates impeachment; his attacks on American democracy are plainly evident, and should be sufficient.

“But some Republican senators may continue to dismiss the more sweeping claims against the president, particularly where no statutory crimes attach. And so the strength of the evidence supporting narrower charges such as obstruction of justice and campaign-finance violations may ultimately determine his fate. If the committee can substantiate these charges, it will place even the most reluctant senators in a bind. When the moment finally comes to cast their vote, and the world is watching, how many will acquit the president of things he has clearly done?”

Well well well. It looks like Mueller's top prosecutor was in on the ground floor of the Hillary Clinton-funded Fusion GPS/ Steele dossier operation back in 2016.
http://thefederalist.com/2019/01/17/top-mueller-officials-coordinated-with-fusion-gps-spouse-in-2016/

A senior Department of Justice official says he repeatedly and specifically told top officials at the FBI and DOJ about dossier author Christopher Steele’s bias and his employer Fusion GPS’ conflicts of interest, information they kept hidden from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. These conversations involved high-level officials, including some who are now senior officials in the special counsel probe. And the conversations began taking place in the earliest days of August 2016, much earlier than previously revealed to congressional investigators seeking to learn the facts about the FBI’s decision to spy on the Trump campaign.

Haters are exposed.

Conservatives’ bizarre, escalating obsession with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) reached a new level this week when The Daily Caller published fake revenge porn of the new congresswoman.

“Here’s The Photo Some People Described As A Nude Selfie Of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” the Caller’s original headline read, before it was changed and the site posted a “we regret the error” message on Twitter. For the record, the photo is not of Ocasio-Cortez, despite what “some people” have said.

Since Ocasio-Cortez, a 29-year-old working-class democratic socialist, unexpectedly toppled powerful white male incumbent Joe Crowley in a June primary, she’s become an object of fixation among Republicans, especially Republican men. Conservative writer Ed Scarry posted a photo of her backside on Twitter, questioning whether her black suit was befitting of a “girl who struggles.” Right-wing media discovered that she ― like a lot of people named “Alexander,” “Alexandra” or some variant thereof ― went by the nickname “Sandy” in high school. A self-proclaimed “proud Christian Dad” on Twitter circulated a video of her dancing in a T-shirt in college as if it would be a career-damaging revelation. A Republican strategist referred to her as “the little girl” on Fox News, which runs segments about her constantly.

Ocasio-Cortez:

I was surprised and I was annoyed because it was a new tack. They’ve been for a very long time focusing on taking quotes out of context or manipulating them or making it seem as though I said things that I didn’t say. This was different in that it was an outright fraudulent thing. You can tell that they’re getting into hysterics because now you’re getting into my actual body, which is definitely crossing a level, definitely crossing a line.

I also think it’s encouraging because this is my sixth day in Congress and they’re out of all their artillery. The nude is supposed to be like the bazooka. You know, like, “We’re going to take her down.” Dude, you’re all out of bullets, you’re all out of bombs, you’re all out of all this stuff. What have you got left? I’m six days into the term, and you already used all your ammo. So enjoy being exhausted for the next two years while we run train on the progressive agenda.
