From what little I did see, it appears that he was able to accomplish something that most Presidents have had issue with, and that was getting the other Party to stand up and cheer for him.
That being said, I am sure (according to all of the critics) that his tie was the wrong color, his hair was messy, his cadence was off, he offended someone, was too something, not enough of something else, and no doubt he will be fact checked into next week..
But what the hey. I suppose I could watch it on tape delay and give a real analysis... or not.

Could be good for a 5 point bump. It was pitch perfect except for the mentioning of the "ridiculous investigation'. Otherwise, it hit all the notes most Americans were looking for.

According to an analysis of FBI crimes data and city law enforcement data analyzed by the El Paso Times, violent crime in El Paso peaked in 1993. Border fence construction didn't begin until 2008, and was completed in 2009. But violent crime fell long before the wall was built in El Paso, with violent crime falling 34% between 1993 and 2006 in the city.
And according to the El Paso Times, from 2006 to 2011, violent crime in El Paso actually increased by 17 percent.

Unlike our esteemed host I watched the entire speech and the response.
It was just another campaign speech.

As is often the case in State of the Union addresses, the people who watched tonight's speech leaned more towards the president's own party, at least compared to Americans overall. In the latest CBS national poll released last month, 25 percent of Americans identified themselves as Republicans. Among those who watched Tuesday night's address, that figure was 43 percent, and Republicans helped bolster the overall approval of the address.
He will probably get a 4% upgrade in the popularity polls. But it won't last long.

That narrative didn't age very well. It only lasted until the partisan breakdowns were release. Democrats and Republicans came down about what was expected with 94% approval from the GOP viewers as oppose to only about 23% from Democrats (I was actually surprised it was that high).
The real kicker was that 80% of independent voters approve of the speech. That pretty much wiped out the margin of victory the Democrat enjoyed last November when they took the House.
