To be clear, these were the Nigerian brothers that were caught on tape. The only two people that were seen on any of the surveillance footage. They were not originally considered suspects because Smollett told police that his attackers were white and shouting racial slurs.
The police are now confirming that they found rope, bleach, and other items matching the specifics of the so called attack. The Nigerians deny being racist (obviously as they are black), deny being homophobes, and deny having any feelings about Donald Trump. At one time the Police were considering charges, but have released them and suggested that the testimony from the brothers "shifted the trajectory of the investigation."
Both of the brothers were a former cast member of the show Empire, and they are now telling police that Smollett paid them to stage the attack. Smollett is now claiming to be devastated that the attack was perpetrated by people he knew, and is adamantly denying that he paid them, or that the attack was staged.
On another note, it was said that Smollett recently received a hate letter (go figure) that was sent to FOX. It was said that Smollett was very upset that FOX was not making a bigger deal out of this letter. There is much speculation that this anger may have driven Smollett to stage an assault to call more attention to himself.
So I guess we have to make a choice.

- Two extras associated with Smollett were paid to stage a hate crime in order to draw attention to Jussie Smollett and the fact that he is black and gay and that there are still people in this world who do not like either.
Meanwhile, the producers of Empire have slashed Smolletts role in the second to last episode of Empire. He went from being the focus in nine scenes and having a big musical number, to being in only four scenes, none of which will "focus" on Smollett's character.

BOWLING GREEN, KY. (WBKO/WVLT) -- A Middle Tennessee man is accused of pulling a gun on people wearing "Make America Great Again" hats over the weekend at a Kentucky business.
According to the police report, officers were called to Sam's Club Saturday due to a person with a gun. One of the victims, Terry Pierce, said Phillips pulled a gun on him because he was wearing a MAGA cap.
Pierce tells 13 News that he was shopping with his wife when Phillips "Pulled a .40 caliber out and stuck it in my face, backed up and said, 'It's a good day for you to die.'"
Pierce went on to tell 13 News, "I said, 'Then pull the trigger. Put the gun down and fight me or pull the trigger. Whichever one you want.' And he backed up and he said it again, he said, 'It's a good day for you to die.'"
Phillips’ wanton endangerment charge is punishable by 1-5 years in jail. He appeared in court on Monday where the judge entered a not guilty plea for Phillips. The judge also said he would appoint the accused an attorney.
A preliminary hearing has been set for Friday at 9:00 a.m, WBKO reported.

House Democrats, who have been examining the issue for months, said they plan to investigate whether people close to Trump sought to profit by using White House connections to gain federal approvals.
“Based on this snapshot of events, the Committee is now launching an investigation to determine whether the actions being pursued by the Trump administration are in the national security interests of the United States, or, rather, serve those who stand to gain financially as a result of this potential change in U.S. foreign policy,” wrote Cummings, a Maryland Democrat.
The proposal, which began as a bid to sell nuclear reactors to the Saudis under the direction of Trump adviser and fundraiser Tom Barrack, the report said, was initially pushed by former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Cummings’ office has previously raised concerns that a consulting business Flynn once ran appeared to have a financial interest in the idea.

Tuesday is a nice day across the Northeast. Temperatures near 40 in New York, light winds out of the north at 5 mph to 10 mph, and wall-to-wall sunshine sound like a tranquil day — especially by February standards. But high up in the atmosphere, it’s a different story.
The jet stream, the high-altitude air current along which storms travel, is furious. The river of air was clocked at more than 230 mph over Long Island on Monday. That measure comes from the 250 millibar pressure level, meaning it was at a height above 75 percent of the atmosphere’s mass. It sets the record for the fastest 250 millibar wind speed ever recorded over New York and, probably, the country.
A Virgin Atlantic flight from Los Angeles to London peaked at a whopping 801 mph Monday evening 35,000 feet over Pennsylvania. “[N]ever ever seen this kind of tailwind in my life as a commercial pilot,” tweeted Peter James, a jet captain.
It appears that’s a record for the Boeing 787-9 twin jet, which in the past has flown at speeds up to 776 mph. The ordinary cruising speed of a Dreamliner is 561 mph, with a maximum propulsion of 587 mph. Any speed gained on top of that is thanks to Mother Nature’s helpful boost.
