Conventional wisdom moving on Russian collusion?

The damning proof of innocence that FBI likely withheld in Russian probe
If President Trump declassifies evidence in the Russia investigation, Carter Page’s summer bike ride to a Virginia farm and George Papadopoulos’s hasty academic jaunt to London may emerge as linchpin proof of FBI surveillance abuses during the 2016 election.
The two trips have received scant attention. But growing evidence suggests both Trump campaign advisers made exculpatory statements — at the very start of the FBI’s investigation — that undercut the Trump-Russia collusion theory peddled to agents by Democratic sources.

The interesting thing is how conventional wisdom is moving on this one. Up until the past few weeks it was assumed by most that Mueller's report would be devastating to the President and that it was just a matter of how much of the claims of Trump-Russia collusion would be exposed.

But now it seems that the conventional wisdom is that Mueller has not uncovered any proof, and that the report will provide very little in terms of ammunition for the left.  There are still some who will argue for the rest of their lives that Trump colluded with Putin to steal the election, but unless Mueller's report confirms this that will quickly become the minority opinion.

Moreover, we are now wallowing into the possibility that if Trump didn't collude with the Russians, that perhaps all of this time the FBI spent trying to prove something might not have been in the best interest of truth and justice. There is a growing demand by many that if Mueller's report is a dud, that a second special counsel should be formed to get to the bottom of whether or not these investigations were honest pursuits of the truth, or just a means to hassle and delegitimize a candidate (and then a President) that many in the FBI and DOJ did not approve of.

As Adam Schiff likes to argue, there is already plenty of evidence in the public eye that the FBI and players in the DOJ were acting in bad faith. It is just a matter of to what degree and how high up the ladder it went.

I think Trump will declassify a lot of this, but if he does it before Mueller's report, he'll be accused of obstruction of justice.

President Donald Trump on Friday insisted there should be no report from special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, denouncing the investigation as "illegal."

every single individual within the FBI that was even remotely attached to this fishing expedition belongs in prison, and comey, mccabe, page and strzok need to die there.

there needs to be consequences for what they did that will discourage anyone else from ever trying the same.

and the FBI needs to be destroyed, every remnant of it burned, and the earth salted upon which it stood.

The key takeaway from the devastating Lisa Page testimony is that late into 2017 the FBI still suspected the case against Trump could’ve been “literally nothing.” YET, the FBI already swore in front of the FISA court that they’d VERIFIED the info used in the 2016/17 investigation

oh look, it was a john mcstain flunky who was responsible for peddling the steele dossier to the asshat media:

An associate of late Arizona Sen. John McCain described in detail his contacts with a dozen journalists and several government officials regarding the infamous Steele dossier, according to a transcript of a court deposition unsealed Thursday.

David Kramer, a former State Department official, said in a deposition on Dec. 13, 2017 that he provided a copy of Christopher Steele’s dossier to reporters from McClatchy, NPR, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and BuzzFeed and CNN’s Carl Bernstein.

He also shared the report with State Department official Victoria Nuland, Obama National Security Counsel official Celeste Wallander and Illinois GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger.

Kramer’s deposition sheds new light on the campaign by Steele and his employer, Fusion GPS, to disseminate the dossier to the press and government officials.

And in investigating Russian collusion Mueller and his gang of all democrat pit bulls ignored the checks Hillary actually wrote to Russian actors ala Jessie Smollett.

It is normal to criticize the press.

What is abnormal is wiretapping them. Barack Hussein Obama did.

What also is abnormal is using the national security apparatus to spy on political opponents. Barack Hussein Obama did.

What is abnormal is to set up your successor for an investigation by working with CNN to hand the new president a Fake Dossier. Barack Hussein Obama did.

What is abnormal is to implant your political appointees in the early stages of the new administration to sabotage the new president. Sally Yates, Jim Comey, and others were mutineers.

The transfer of power has not been normal because for too long the nation has mollycoddled the left's nastiness and treachery.

Instead of extending courtesy and deference to our new president by being gracious in losing, the left rioted on Inauguration Day.

The media never gave him a honeymoon, as it started its coverage by stating falsely that President Trump removed the bust of Martin Luther King from the Oval Office.

Barack Hussein Obama allowed his first secretary of state and would-be successor to accept millions in foreign bribes to her Fake Charity that operated as a campaign-in-waiting.

Barack Hussein Obama also stopped any prosecution of her for making state secrets available to anyone including her foreign donors.

Peter Strzok's Congressional Testimony: Robert Mueller Never Asked Me About My Many, Many Anti-Trump Texts. He Didn't Seem to Care About Them At All.

After the anti-Trump texts came to light, Mueller booted Strzok from the special counsel probe, but according to the FBI agent's testimony, Mueller's team never asked him whether the anti-Trump bias revealed in his text messages impacted his investigation of alleged collusion between Donald Trump's campaign and Russia.
In the June 2018 hearing, Strzok repeated over and over that Mueller's team never asked him about the anti-Trump bias in the texts or whether that bias impacted his work. This news seems particularly damning since it suggests the special counsel's team did not care whether Strzok's work was colored by anti-Trump bias.

...

"Did special counsel Mueller or the other attorney in the room ask you whether or not your expression of personal belief about Donald Trump influenced any of the actions or decisions that you had taken or any of the evidence or information that you had gathered?" Ratcliffe asked.

Strzok replied, "No."

The global grounding of the 737 Max aircraft isn’t just bad news for Boeing (BA) – it’s likely to weigh on key metrics of the health of the U.S. economy as well, according to a new report from Wells Fargo Securities.

Boeing has more than 5,000 orders booked for the 737-Max, including 376 deliveries. In the event that some of these orders get rolled back, expect to see overall U.S. durable goods orders take a hit, said Tim Quinlan, Wells Fargo Securities senior economist.

“If some of those orders were to be canceled, the Commerce Department would subtract them from the headline figure in the month in which they occur for the durable goods report,” Quinlan said, citing discussions with Commerce Department staff.

That is 16.25 murders per year by undocumented immigrants... JUST IN THE STATE OF ARIZONA!

You don't want to admit that underlying everything his campaign promises was to keep the demographics in favor of the white suburban voters. And Yes, it has a deeply racist attitude towards Mexicans and central America. There is no invasion. They are not an army invaders, the vast majority are families fleeing from dictatorships and drug cartels.

We are a nation of immigrants, my earliest relative came from Germany in 1759. He is buried in Pennsylvania. Unless you are a native American, you are all immigrants.

The worst part of the whole thing is the expansion of executive authority. If President Harris declares a National emergency to deal with climate change! Would you mind that expansion of executive privilege to control spending, that is the duty of the house of representatives, not the President following his campaign promises as he waved his arms like a madman!

You are betraying everything you used to stand for because Trump told you to do so.

The author of this opinion piece of shit is the chief editor of the Washington Times.

To appreciate the significance of the two men’s interactions with Halper, one must understand the rules governing the FBI when it seeks a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant such as the one secured against Page.

First, the FBI must present evidence to FISA judges that it has verified and that comes from intelligence sources deemed reliable. Second, it must disclose any information that calls into question the credibility of its sources. Finally, it must disclose any evidence suggesting the innocence of its investigative targets.

Thanks to prior releases of information, we know the FBI fell short on the first two counts. Multiple FBI officials have testified that the Christopher Steele dossier had not been verified when its allegations were submitted as primary evidence supporting the FISA warrant against Page.

Likewise, we know the FBI failed to tell the courts that Steele admitted to a federal official that he was desperate to defeat Trump in the 2016 election and was being paid by Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to gather dirt on the GOP candidate. Both pieces of information are the sort of credibility-defining details that should be disclosed about a source.

Both of the allegations are made up opinions. The FBI didn't intentionally withheld information to get the FISA warrant. He has no evidence to support this very important issue.

You have chosen to believe what he says, not based upon the facts, but that you agree that there was a deep state conspiracy to defeat Trump in the election.

Because of politics?

C.H. Truth said...

Roger

Comey admitted under oath that the Steele dossier was unverified.

That is not opinion. Unless you are suggesting that Comey was committing perjury and should be charged.

The source, Steele was fired. They continued to use the dossier after the author was fired.

Unless you are arguing that a fired source is still considered "reliable" then that is also a fact.

Two days after then-acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe formally put President Trump under criminal investigation in May 2017, bureau officials reached out to the author of the controversial "Steele dossier" for more information, even though they had fired him for misconduct six months earlier.

Text messages and congressional testimony transcripts reveal that McCabe’s “Russia team” re-established direct contact with ex-British spy Christopher Steele to build a case against the president for espionage and obstruction of justice after Trump had fired FBI Director James Comey on May 9, 2017.

Comey had previously described the dossier – opposition research alleging Trump-Russia ties that was paid for by the Clinton campaign – as “salacious and unverified.” The FBI had severed ties with Steele in November 2016 due to behavior that convinced his handlers he was not a trustworthy source.

Former federal prosecutors and investigators described the move to RealClearInvestigations as "desperate." They also said the FBI’s decision to suddenly re-engage with a discredited confidential source raises fresh questions about the evidentiary grounds on which the FBI opened an unprecedented probe targeting the president.

“It suggests that McCabe lacked evidence to make an espionage case against Trump and was desperate to find it — even if that meant going back to the same unreliable source of still-unverified dossier dirt,” former federal prosecutor Solomon L. Wisenberg said.
