it's the economy stupid!

Trump's approval rating on economy hits new high: Gallup
President Trump's approval rating on the economy has reached a new high, according to a Gallup poll published Tuesday. The poll showed that 56 percent of adults in the U.S. approve of Trump's handling of the economy, the best mark of Trump's presidency and the highest approval rating for Trump on any of the 14 issues in the poll.

Respondents were split heavily along partisan lines in their views of Trump. Ninety-three percent of Republicans approve of Trump's handling of the economy, compared to just 20 percent of Democrats. Additionally, just 6 percent of Democrats approve of Trump's overall job performance, while 90 percent of Republicans approve, according to the poll.

So just out of curiosity, what's not to like about the economy? GDP is growing, wages are up, the market is stable, unemployment is at record lows. It's almost as if certain people want to believe things are bad, because otherwise they might have to credit a particular President?

Yet only 20% of Democrats believe that all of this good economic news means that the economy is good? Would it be fair to suggest that the other 80% suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome? For the life of me, I cannot come up with an alternative explanation.

"Can I ask about the economy because this economy is going pretty well? I feel like the bottom has to fall out at some point. And by the way, I'm hoping for it. Because I think one way you get rid of Trump is a crashing economy. So, please, bring on the recession. Sorry if that hurts people, but it's either root for a recession or you lose your democracy," Maher said on the Friday broadcast of his HBO show Real Time.

i think that maher speaks for democrats as a whole. they're so consumed by TDS they're openly expressing a desire for the economy to crash so they can blame trump and use it to run him out of the white house.

of course, when you're a multi-millionaire like maher, this is a desire with no downside. they may want to stop wondering why they've lost the blue collar union vote however.

The US federal deficit hit $310 billion in the first four months of the 2019 fiscal year, the Treasury Department reported Tuesday.

That amount represents a 77% increase compared to the same period in fiscal year 2018.

The increase was driven by a 2% drop in tax revenue and a 9% increase in spending.
The US federal deficit just keeps getting bigger.

But the president's overall approval rating still sits at just 43 percent, according to the poll. Another 54 percent of adults, meanwhile, disapprove of Trump's performance as president.

Trump gets the lowest marks on his handling of relations with Russia, race relations and corruption in government, according to the poll. The poll found that 39 percent, 38 percent and 37 percent approve of Trump's handling of those three issues, respectively.

Trump will have much more flexibility after the next election to address exploding entitlement costs.

well alky, you don't have to be an economist to understand the value of aligning spending outflows with revenue inflows.

since all spending originates in the house, let us know when palsi pelosi introduces her spending austerity bill.

oh, and whining about a $310B deficit while advocating for a $90+ TRILLION green wet dream/medicaid for all/free college for all is just a tad hypocritical.

no shit.

not exactly a 'man bites dog' headline, eh?

Roger the anti-debt man!

Let's see how he feels the next time a Democrat is President and they have a Chamber or two in Congress...

Unlimited American Express card style spending would be my guess.

Roger the anti-debt man!

hey, give roger points for consistency. debts and deficits only concern him when a republican occupies the white house. (don't let the fact that all spending originates in the house interfere with roger's point here.)

so staying on roger's point - the 0linsky regime fucking doubles the debt, accumulating more debt than all previous administrations combined and it's no biggie.

“So let’s discuss a text that hits home for me,” Goodlatte said. “On August 26, 2016, you texted Ms. Page ‘Just went to a Southern Virginia Walmart. I could smell the Trump support.’ And smell is in capital letters, all capital letters. What does Trump support smell like Mr. Strzok?”
