Maybe she just needs a good spanking?

Nancy Pelosi called me into her office?
House Democrats exploded in recriminations Thursday over moderates bucking the party, with liberal Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatening to put those voting with Republicans “on a list” for a primary challenge.
Inside the Democratic meeting, one of those freshmen — Rep. Xochitl Torres Small (N.M.) — reacted sharply to Ocasio-Cortez’s comments and rose to urge her colleagues to respect the political reality of representing a swing district, according to multiple people present. A spokesman for Torres Small did not respond to a request for comment.
The Democratic infighting reflects a fractured caucus and diverse freshman class, with dozens of moderates elected in districts that President Trump won in 2016 at odds with hard-charging liberals. The split has exposed divisions among Pelosi and her top lieutenants, Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (Md.) and Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (S.C.), over the party strategy to keep its newfound majority.

After the Amazon pull out, it's rumored that the NY elite are not happy with their Representative and are already recruiting someone to make a primary run in 2020. Obviously she is (for better or worse) a rising star among the liberal left of the Democratic Party, which also causes her some issues with the moderates and veterans who are more adept at how to play the Congressional game.

But there is a good chance that her star power could wane if she continues to ruffle everyone's feathers. I don't suspect she is actually going to be beaten in 2020, either in the primary and definitely not in the general, but a strong challenge would be sending Ocasio-Cortez a serious signal.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could not make up her mind over how to vote on the Bipartisan Background Checks bill, which included an amendment that would notify ICE if an illegal alien attempts to purchase a firearm, Republican North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson *told The Daily Caller on Thursday.

“I thought it was pretty amazing to watch the Democrats try to decide ‘Do we want to protect illegal immigrants or do we want to confiscate guns more?’ It was kind of funny,” Hudson said at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Hudson continued, “You had Ocasio-Cortez, who actually voted yes then switched to no then switched back to present then switch back to yes. So watching them twist themselves in knots trying to decide what’s more important to them—protecting illegal immigrants or confiscating guns was pretty funny.”

Takeaways from a Failed Summit
March 1, 2019 at 9:25 am EST

Richard Haass: “Things never should have reached this point. Summits at most are expected to negotiate the last 10% of a deal. The Hanoi summit appeared to have it backwards, requiring that the leaders negotiate 90% on the spot. The Hanoi summit showed the dangers of a president who over-personalizes diplomacy. Foreign policy is mostly about the details, not the chemistry.”

“By overplaying his hand, Kim may have saved the president from himself. If reports were right, the U.S. was prepared to agree to offer a degree of sanctions relief in exchange for North Korea dismantling one of its enrichment facilities. But North Korea could have done this, and still maintained or even expanded its ability to enrich uranium and produce bombs and missiles.”

“Although disappointed with the summit outcome and concerned about what comes next, U.S. allies in the region (above all, South Korea and Japan) will be relieved that President Trump did not give away too much in Hanoi — and, in particular, that he did not put the U.S. troop presence in South Korea on the table, or repeat the language used at the Singapore summit, which called for the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. That suggested the U.S. nuclear guarantee might be negotiable.”

Democrats Face a Dilemma on Impeachment
March 1, 2019 at 8:56 am EST

First Read: “How do they reconcile their growing belief that President Trump has committed crimes — especially after Michael Cohen’s testimony on Wednesday — with their hesitation/reluctance to consider impeachment?”

“Yes, going down Impeachment Road is a political risk. (Hello, Newt Gingrich and congressional Republicans!) And yes, Democrats want to wait for Mueller.0

“But if you believe that what President Trump has done is way worse than Clinton ever did, aren’t you tolerating/normalizing this kind of behavior if you don’t consider impeachment ASAP?

“But here’s something to chew on: Has the impeachment process already begun (with Cohen’s testimony, more hearings, Mueller on the way), but Democrats just aren’t calling it that?”

The Zogby Poll®: Voters reject socialism; Half of voters have an unfavorable impression of socialism; A majority of Democrats do not want their party to declare itself a "socialist party"

According to a Zogby Poll® of 1,744 likely voters, conducted randomly online from 2/14/19 to 2/17/19 with a margin of error of +/-2.3 percentage points, socialism is not fashionable among all likely voters, and especially among Democrats.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. personal income fell for the first time in more than three years in January as dividends and interest payments dropped, pointing to moderate growth in consumer spending after it fell by the most since 2009 in December.

The report from the Commerce Department on Friday also showed inflation pressures remaining tame, which together with slowing domestic and global economic growth gave more credence to the Federal Reserve's "patient" stance towards raising interest rates further this year.

Personal income slipped 0.1 percent in January, the first decline since November 2015, after jumping 1.0 percent in December. Income was weighed down by decreases in dividend, farm proprietors' and interest income. Wages increased by a moderate 0.3 percent in January after rising 0.5 percent in December.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast incomes rising 0.3 percent in January.

The Commerce Department did not publish the January consumer spending portion of the report as the collection and processing of retail sales data was delayed by a 35-day partial shutdown of the government that ended on Jan. 25.

It reported that consumer spending, which accounts for more than two-thirds of U.S. economic activity, dropped 0.5 percent in December. That was the biggest decline since September 2009 and followed a 0.6 percent increase in November.

Households cut back on purchases of motor vehicles and recreational goods in December, leading to a 1.9 percent plunge in spending on goods. Spending on goods increased 1.0 percent in November. Outlays on services edged up 0.1 percent, held back by a decline in spending on household electricity and gas. Spending on services advanced 0.4 percent in November.

When adjusted for inflation, consumer spending fell 0.6 percent in December, also the largest drop since September 2009, after rising 0.5 percent in November.

Senator Harris, who might be as dumb as nine chickens or might be a cynical political operator who believes that her constituents are dumber than nine chickens — a supposition for which her election presents compelling evidence — complained on behalf of the morons she represents, writing: “The average tax refund is down about $170 compared to last year. Let’s call the President’s tax cut what it is: a middle-class tax hike to line the pockets of already wealthy corporations and the 1%.”

Nope. Wrong on every count. She couldn’t have written a wronger take if she had tried. Refunds are down (to the extent that they are down, more below) because withholding is down, and most taxpayers, according to the government’s figures — and maybe Senator Harris knows someone in government she could ask? — are paying lower taxes. Those refunds aren’t disappearing into the pockets of the hated 1 percent — most of whom would not break stride to bend over and pick up Mr. 50th Percentile’s federal income-tax payments should they happen step over them on the sidewalk — because they already have disappeared into the pockets of the taxpayers currently bitching about their diminished returns.

But it gets better: The talking point about tax refunds being down was based on early and incomplete data. It isn’t even clear that the average refund actually will be lower once all the refunds are processed. But, if they aren’t lower, then the IRS messed up. Lower refunds are the right outcome.

Representative Ocasio-Cortez — and, in her case, I’m leaning toward “dumber than that weird little runt heel of bologna left over when the deli guy is done slicing, when you’re buying bologna for some reason” — played a similar class-warfare game when she complained about “giving” Amazon $3 billion that instead could be invested in filling potholes and such, apparently being in a state of pristine ignorance about what a tax credit is. Very few things bring out the stupidity in a creature of politics like tax credits.

Streaking into the scene like a blazing comet of asininity comes Robert Reich, the gormless lawyer who plays an economist on television, who sets those lower individual returns — lower returns because the money was never taken away in the first place — against the gigantic tax returns coming to General Motors and Ford. “While millions of Americans have seen their refunds shrink,” Reich writes, “some of the most profitable corporations in the country are filing for massive refunds.”

Indeed, they are.

Sen. Bernie Sanders' new deputy national press secretary likely won't be eligible to vote in the 2020 election due to what she says is her status as an undocumented immigrant.

The hiring of Belen Sisa, an Arizona leftist activist, was announced Wednesday evening. Sisa, who says she was brought to this country illegally from Argentina by her parents at age six, is currently protected from deportation under President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Amid deliberations on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which was somehow seen as controversial, Democrat leaders reaffirmed their belief that newborn babies are precious gifts, nearly as precious as the right to kill them.

"Don't get us wrong, we believe newborn babies are very precious," said Senator Kamala Harris. "We just don't believe they're quite as precious as your constitutional right to snuff out their innocent little lives."

"When I see their little joyful faces, I'm reminded that miracles are real, as are your rights to smother their lives before they've gotten to experience life at all," she said.

Other Democrat leaders agreed with Harris' comments, with Cory Booker claiming that he loves children as well as your "God-given right to kill them." "It's like, this is our Spartacus moment," he said. "This is our moon shot: are we going to let their adorable little faces stop us from ending their lives? Are the women of this nation going to give up their right to kill babies just because they're a human life? I think we can do better. I think we can do it."

"I am Spartacus! I am Spartacus!" he added for some reason.

At publishing time, Democrat legislators had clarified that universal healthcare, climate change action, and raising taxes on the wealthy are also more precious than the face of a newborn baby.

President Trump and those around him are no strangers to issuing false or misleading denials. But this is one of their most egregious to date.

The Washington Post has confirmed that Trump directed then-White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly last year to get a top-secret security clearance for his son-in-law and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner. That clearance had been held up for a year over concerns of career intelligence officials. Kelly, who was apparently uncomfortable with the whole situation, documented the request in an memo. The New York Times, which broke the news, reports that then-White House counsel Donald McGahn did the same.

By May, it was reported that Kushner had gotten the clearance.

Attempting to override the concerns of intelligence officials is certainly a questionable move. Those officials have worried that foreign governments may be able to get leverage on Kushner because of his business dealings and shoddy disclosures. This is technically an authority that a president has; whether he should have exercised it to help his own family is another question.

Setting that aside, though, both the president and his daughter Ivanka Trump, Kushner’s spouse, have issued denials that now look ridiculous.

“The President had no involvement pertaining to my clearance or my husband’s clearance. Zero,” Ivanka Trump told ABC News last month. When ABC’s Abby Huntsman asked whether she and Kushner had received any “special treatment,” Ivanka Trump said, flatly, “No.” (She also said at the time that the delay was simply due to a backlog, which is contradicted by lots of reporting.)

Weird: All Of Google's Self-Driving Cars Are Veering To The Left For Some Reason

Well, this is odd.

Google's self-driving cars all seem to be veering hard to the left for some reason.

The driverless vehicles also refuse to make any right turns at intersections, emitting a blaring "BIGOT ALERT" error should they attempt such a maneuver. The cars will take hour-long detours just to avoid any appearance of merging, veering, or turning right at all. One particularly feisty driverless vehicle even activated its Gatling cannon and blasted away at a sign that read "RIGHT TURN ONLY," according to a statement from Google.

"It's just a bug, entirely unintentional," said one Google engineer. "I guess when we were programming them we accidentally put in a few lines of code that indicated that leaning to the right is horribly evil. We'll have to take out those bits of programming, I suppose, if these cars are going to turn right. We definitely want them to go right."

The Google engineer was then fired for his problematic comments.

What a weird coding quirk! Hopefully, they can get it fixed soon!

Google programmers also said they were trying to figure out why the cars are running over every person in a MAGA hat that they see.
