The Barr summary

So according to everyone in the know, sometime today A.G. William Barr will send another letter to the ranking members of Congress, and one would assume allow for a public release of the same letter that will summarize the "conclusions" of Special Counsel.

Since the special counsel was tasked to look into Russian influence individually as well as look for coordination from any Americans the report will not necessarily focus as much on what people are interested in (even if they probably should be interested in other things).

Keep in mind that this letter will be heavy on what Mueller found, and I suspect that it will focus much on the 30 some people who "were" indicted.  Since any foreign influence of our elections is illegal, it's unlikely that there are other Russians to be named that were not part of the two sets of indictments that Mueller brought before the Grand Jury.

Those indictments, of course, would of the group of hackers who Mueller determined hacked the DNC and Podesta email servers, as well as the trolling farm who were illegally using our social media platforms to run political ads.

Had Mueller found the behavior of Natalia Veselnitskaya (for instance) at the Trump Tower meeting to be within the scope of a foreign agent manipulating our elections, then there is no reason to believe that she would have been indicted. The fact that she was never indicted suggests that Mueller did not find the meeting to rise to the level of election assistance, much less a criminal conspiracy.

So what we know is what is in the indictments. There are no more indictments coming. There are no sealed indictment that Mueller has been holding back and even if there had been, he would have unsealed them at the end of his investigations.

The two indictments that covered the Russian agents both made clear that there was no known coordination with any Americans. To the degree that Americans were involved, they were said to have been "unwittingly" involved. None of these Americans had any association with Trump or his campaign. People who know Mueller have suggested that his indictments are very comprehensive and would not leave anything out (certainly not earth shattering information). Had there been coordination between either Russian groups with known Trump associates we would have known.  This would also be criminal and would have led to more indictments.

To the degree that Mueller looked at obstruction is anyone's guess. It was no part of his original task, and much of what was talked about was purely speculative. One has to assume that if Mueller took a serious interest in "obstruction" that he would have at least attempted to subpoena the President. It would be blatant misconduct for him to suggest obstruction (having never talked to the President) and derelict for him not to have tried had he otherwise thought there was a strong case.

I suspect that Mueller may have been more in the Alan Dershowitz camp on the issue of obstruction. Possibly just too much of an old school straight shooter to attempt to get clever and cute with a new definition of obstruction (that would likely be seen as highly dubious and political). Better to err on the side of caution and look more strictly at whether or not the President obstructed in any traditional manner (lying, witness tampering, destruction of evidence).  The fact is that Mueller completed his investigation suggesting that he was not hampered in any manner. Similarly the President never sought to shut down the FBI investigation even though it was in his power to do so.

Should someone who had authority to shut this whole thing down two years ago, but chose to let it run its course be charged with obstruction? Objectively it makes almost no sense.

We'll see what the report says. I suspect that it will fall well short of what liberals are hoping for (even today as they have reenergized themselves after the shock of hearing there were no new indictments). But I wouldn't be surprised if Mueller had something negative to say about Trump. Just not anything that rises to the level of a criminal action (high crime or misdemeanor).

The truth is that Mueller is not recommending any more indictments and that there are no sealed indictments. The truth is that Mueller did not find any evidence of any criminal actions in regards to the Trump campaign and Russia.

Which, as we all should remember, was the entire point of this special counsel.

It was never a special counsel to put someone in charge of making political opinions about whether or not Trump is a good President. People can make up their own minds about that.

Muellers one and only sole exclusive purpose was to determine if there was criminal conspiracies or criminal acts regarding Trump, his campaign, and any Russian influence.

er did not find any evidence of any criminal actions in regards to the Trump campaign and Russia.

YOUR UNFOUNDED OPINION!!!!

Mueller mandate was to investigate whether there was ruasian interference in the election....nothing else...

Mueller is supposed to carry on the investigation that former FBI Director James Comey told Congress about before he was fired by President Donald Trump. That includes any links between Trump campaign associates and Russia, as well as "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation," according to the letter appointing him.

Try again Lil Scotty and learn something about what you are posting....LOLOL

Adam Schiff was on ABC News this morning.

He was not asked to explain the "clear evidence" of collusion he lied about.

He was not asked about his secret meeting with Glenn Simpson.

He was given a platform to push a debunked hoax.

Adam Schiff is Jussie Smollett with a necktie.

The Trump News Cycle:

2: Trump calls it #FakeNews

3: The media claim Trump is attacking the 1st Amendment by criticizing them

4: Turns out Trump was right

5: Media pretend X never happened; accuse Trump of something else

The special counsel has demonstrated that Russia intervened in the 2016 election with the goal of helping Mr. Trump, that the Trump campaign welcomed Russians promising incriminating information on behalf of their government about Hillary Clinton and that his advisers knew about stolen Democratic emails in advance.

The investigation has demonstrated as well that Mr. Trump was seeking to do business in Russia even as a presidential candidate longer than he had previously disclosed and that he surrounded himself with crooks and liars in the form of advisers who repeatedly dissembled to investigators.

Whether or not that a criminal enterprise with the Russians, they both discredited our election system.

It will take the defeat Trump to repair our Constitutional government.

And I quote:

(i) any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump and

(ii) any matters that arose or may arise direction from the investigation

(iii) any other matters within the scope

He had any and every responsibility to fully investigate any links or coordination and determine whether or not there was any criminal actions.

HE SPENT NEARLY TWO YEARS AND NEARLY $17 MILLION

Let's just say that the (smart) President Trump has avoided any illegal actions, very carefully.

But, if there is evidence of cooperation with the fake Social media accounts, like his "Russia find the 3,000 emails ". Pre knowledge the wiki leaks that surfaced the next day, maybe it's not a crime. But a high crime and misdemeanors as determined by the house Judiciary committee??

Myself, unless there is not a bombshell, impeachment should not be pursued. The Democrats have an agenda, it would be buried by the impeachment hearings

What we currently know is not at issue anymore. Nothing publicly known has been determined by Special Counsel as a crime. Those arguments are over.

Not only does Mueller know everything you known, but he spent 22 months, 17 million, had 15 attorneys and a staff of over 30 people working on these issues.

He looked into everything. Social media, Trump's statements, hacking. Literally EVERYTHING you know, he looked into it. If he didn't look into something you think he should have, then what you think you knew was wrong.

So there is not "evidence" of criminal conspiracy / criminal collusion or Mueller would have found it. Doesn't matter what Idiot Schiff claims. Or Beto O'Rourke. Or anyone else.

The reality is that this was never about what we knew. Everyone agreed that Don Jr met a Russian lobbyist with Kushner and others. The disagreement was whether or not it was "criminal" to have that meeting. You believed it was. Mueller disagreed with you.

We all knew Trump made a statement about how the Russians should turn over the Clinton deleted emails if they had them. It wasn't illegal. Not only that, but those emails (30,000 deleted emails) were not part of what was hacked. The DNC and Clinton campaign servers were hacked and released. Her personal server very well may have been hacked by someone, but they were never released by Wikileaks.

You see Mueller has to play by the rules and can only rely on actual factual evidence. He cannot bring a CNN rumor or MSNBC analysis and turn it into an indictment. He must have facts.

If you believe he missed "facts" - then your "facts" were not "facts".

Why? Do you think the conclusions are magically going to change for you?

Commonsense said...

According to the letter there was insufficient evidence as to intent, motive, and nexus to prove an obstruction charge.

That's not unusual. If you require a motive to make an otherwise legal action obstruction of justice then you're already behind the 8-ball.
