Let's go nuclear, everybody's nuclear, come and get nuclear with me!

GOP on course to set records for amount of Justices confirmed
Senate Republicans deployed the “nuclear option” on Wednesday to drastically reduce the time it takes to confirm hundreds of President Trump’s nominees. In back-to-back votes, Republicans changed the rules for the amount of time it takes to confirm most executive nominees and district judges — marking the second and third time Republicans have used the hardball tactic since taking over in 2015.
Republicans have set a record for the number of appeals court judges confirmed during an administration’s first two years, but they’ve accused Democrats of using the chamber’s legislative rulebook to slow down lower-level executive and judicial nominations.
A similar resolution passed the Senate in 2013 that cut debate time for most executive nominations to eight hours and district judges to two hours. But that resolution, which passed with bipartisan support, only controlled the 113th Congress.

So let's face the facts of life here folks. There simply isn't any need in 2019 for the Senate to argue for nearly a day over each and every District court nominee. Everyone knows how everyone else is going to vote, and nobody will change anyone's mind, regardless of how many hours are spent on the subject.

The entire working use of the time allotted is for the minority to stall the confirmation process of open District and Appeals court Justices. As of now, while there are only five Appeals court Justices awaiting confirmation, there are nearly sixty District Courts missing a Judge right now. If my math is correct (and it usually is) the five appeals court Justices could still in theory take upwards of 150 hours (or close to four weeks). The 60 or so District court Justices would take about 120 hours (or approximately three weeks).

So Democrats still have plenty of time to stall, but this makes it a near certainty that all open District court nominees will be confirmed. There seemed to be little question that Democrats were hoping to tie at least a few of those over into the 2020 election time period.

When all is said and done, Trump will have appointed two of the nine USSC Justices, nearly a quarter of all appeals court Judges, and sixteen percent of the District Court members. Plus whatever other vacancies come up over the next year and a half, or next five and a half years.... depending!

McConnell has a history of doing things for short-term tactical gains, regardless of the cost. He did more than anybody else to open the floodgates to unlimited dark money in politics, famously declared his top priority was for President Barack Obama “ to be a one-term president ” and killed the Supreme Court nomination of Merrick Garland in 2016 by refusing to act on it. Between 2009 and 2013, McConnell’s Republicans blocked 79 Obama nominees with filibusters, compared with 68 in the country’s entire previous history.

Schumer denounced McConnell’s hypocrisy. “This is a very sad day for the Senate,” he said. Glaring at McConnell, he called the move to limit delays to two hours “a mockery of how this institution should work.”

You will regret this when Schumer becomes the majority leader in January of 2021.

Trumpism will destroy the Republican party.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Schumer, turning to point at McConnell, called his decision to change the rules a “shame” and a “disgrace.”

“That is not the Senate we want,” Schumer said. “For Leader McConnell to brag about confirming more judges than ever before and then complain about Democratic obstruction and say the process is broken so you have to change the rules is the height of hypocrisy.”

Trumpism is the height of hypocrisy.

McConnell helped save the US Constitution with that move.

He spanked your team good.

Trump was born on Oct. 11, 1905, in the Bronx. His parents, as the certificate indicates, were born in Germany and had only recently arrived back in the United States at the time Fred Trump was born.

This maniac should not be allowed to shape the judicial branch for the next 50 years.

His grandfather was a draft dodger just like his grandson.

Hillary wanted to put up wind. Wind. If you ― if you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations: Your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer. You tell me that one, OK? “Rrrrr, rrrrr” ― you know the thing that makes the ― it’s so noisy. And of course it’s like a graveyard for birds. If you love birds, you’d never want to walk under a windmill because it’s a very sad, sad sight. It’s like a cemetery. We put a little, we put a little statute for the poor birds. It’s true. You know in California, if you shoot a bald eagle, they put you in jail for five years. And yet the windmills wipe ’em all out. It’s true. They wipe ’em out. It’s terrible. And I told the other day at CPAC. Great people at CPAC. We had an incredible thing. I had nothing to do. It was early on a Saturday morning. I had just gotten back from dealing with Kim Jong Un. We had a walk. He wasn’t ready for a deal but that’s OK because we get along great. He wasn’t ready. I told him, you’re not ready for a deal. That’s the first time anybody has ever told him that and left. It never happened to him before. Nobody’s ever left. But I said you’re not ready for a deal, but we’ll make a deal. We have a good relationship. We have a good relationship. But I told a story about, at CPAC. The woman, she wants to watch television. And she says to her husband, “Is the wind blowing? I’d love to watch a show tonight, darling. The wind hasn’t blown for three days. I can’t watch television, darling. Darling, please tell the wind to blow.” No, wind’s not so good. And you know, you have no idea how expensive it is to make those things. They’re all made in China and Germany, but the way, just in case you’re ― we don’t make ’em here, essentially. We don’t make ’em here. And by the way, the carbon, and all those things flying up in the air, you know the carbon footprint? President Obama used to talk about the carbon footprint, and then he’d hop on Air Force One, a big 747 with very old engines, and he’d fly to Hawaii to play a round of golf. You tell me, the carbon footprint.

WASHINGTON — It’s no secret that President Trump really, really dislikes wind power. He’s been vocal on the subject for years, ever since a battle with Scottish officials over a plan to build what he called a “really ugly wind farm” within sight of his golf resort in Aberdeen.

More recently, in rallies and speeches, Mr. Trump has stepped up his attacks on wind turbines, suggesting that their noise can cause cancer (there’s absolutely no evidence of this) and predicting power failures when the wind stops blowing (also not true).

Here’s a closer look at a few of his recent comments.

You might get cancer. (You won’t.)

During a sometimes rambling digression about wind turbines at the National Republican Congressional Committee's annual spring dinner in Washington on Tuesday, Mr. Trump said: “They say the noise causes cancer.”

The suggestion that turbine noises cause cancer is completely unfounded. “The American Cancer Society is unaware of any credible evidence linking the noise from windmills to cancer,” a spokeswoman for the group said in an email.

Separately, some researchers have been investigating claims that noise from wind turbines might cause other health problems like nausea, headaches or sleeplessness. So far, experts haven’t found strong evidence of links to those conditions, although that debate is likely to persist.

When compared to the research around coal power, an energy source that Mr. Trump has long championed, the difference is stark

i'm old enough to remember when the pearl clutchers around here told us that trump was going to destroy NATO...

The Trump administration has made great strides in recent months to transform the cash-strapped and perpetually ailing North Atlantic Treaty Organization into a viable global military force that has the capabilities to confront Russia and other rogue regimes allied with terror forces.

Vice President Mike Pence, in wide-ranging remarks on Wednesday before a gathering of NATO members in Washington, D.C., outlined a series of reforms the Trump administration has taken to boost NATO’s military readiness and position it as a force that can combat Russian aggression, as well as that of regional terror groups.

Pence told NATO members the United States "will no longer agree to any measures or treaties that force unilateral disarmament upon us," a direct reference to Russia's continued construction and use of missile systems that violate international arms treaties.

This vision has guided the Trump administration's efforts to push NATO members into contributing greater financial resources to the organization, as well as recent efforts to create joint forces that can deploy to critical areas on the fly.

Pence also took direct aim at Turkey, a NATO member that has bucked the organization by growing closer to Russia and purchasing Moscow's advanced missile systems. The Trump administration recently canceled the sale of advanced F-35 war planes to Turkey as a result of this behavior, which Pence said is unacceptable.

"We released a National Security Strategy advancing peace through American strength," Pence said. "We initiated the modernization of our nuclear arsenal. And in January of this year, President Trump unveiled our nation's new strategy for missile defense."

"Together with our NATO partners, we created the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force to prepare combat-ready battlegroups to be able to move into the Baltics and Poland within days," Pence added. "We began the four 30s initiative—which, by 2020, aims to ready 30 mechanized battalions, 30 air squadrons, and 30 warships for deployment within 30 days."

The Trump administration also is spearheading the creation of new NATO commands in Virginia and Ulm, Germany, in a bid to "ensure the swift movement of our troops" across the globe.

Norfolk, Va., for instance, "is the proud new home of NATO's focus on the future, the Allied Command Transformation Center, which is tasked with assessing the latest global trends and devising the ability to meet and match them," Pence said.

More than half of the House Judiciary Committee’s 81 targets in its obstruction of justice and corruption investigation into President Donald Trump have declined to produce documents, according to a POLITICO analysis.

Two weeks after committee chairman Jerrold Nadler’s March 18 deadline, 14 witnesses contacted by POLITICO indicated through attorneys or in public statements that they had provided no documents to the panel. Approximately 30 individuals and entities ignored the committee’s requests altogether as of Wednesday morning, according to a Republican aide.

Mueller could have concluded he thinks Trump was guilty of obstruction, but chose not to. He could have alleged a Trump/Russia conspiracy, or could have charged Trump officials & family members with conspiring with Russia, but didn't. These last-gasp efforts don't change that.

But what is not there is what TDS losers are believing

“The giant sign outside my office says ‘DREAMers Welcome Here’ because we know and value the contributions that these young people have made to their communities,” the California senator said in a Wednesday statement about the DACA job offer. She continued:

But right now, those same young people are banned from giving back to their country by working for Congress. That has to change … Government works best when it reflects the people it represents. Our nation’s DREAMers are some of our best and brightest, and it’s time they had the opportunity to get a job or paid internship on Capitol Hill."

I think this is going to be very awkward for Mueller. We now know that the man who “told” me this information was working with the FBI, not Russia. Hence, the entire investigation was an entrapment op against Trump and his team by Comey/Brennan/Obama.
