Will it matter?

Are Democrats still going to back Creepy Joe Biden?

There has been a consensus among prudent Democrats that Joe Biden is the most electable of the 114 candidates running at this point. He has consistently polled well above most other candidates in head to head matchups with the President and leads much of the national primary polls. With the primary goal of Democrats to oust Trump by any means possible, it might be hard to let go of someone who seems to give you the best shot to win.

Or at least he did. Now one has to wonder how serious these allegations are, and whether or not the seven women (so far) who have complained about his behavior will make a difference running against the Commander in Chief.

In some ways you can make the argument that he is no worse than Trump. But then you sort of are conceding that issue for the general election. Certainly there candidates (especially women candidates) who will not bear the burden of having allegations of inappropriate behavior such as this. Do you really want to concede that moral high ground?

It's hard to call it "sexual assault" but it's more than just an issue with boundaries. You simply don't see Joe Biden smelling hair or kissing other men whom he barely knows. There is something sexual about it and possibly something of a power trip. The idea that this behavior is somewhat generational falls flat, since not many men I know go around acting in this manner. At least not without getting slapped across the face for the effort.

Less than two months ago, Alva Johnson, a former Trump campaign staffer, came forward to accuse Donald Trump of kissing her without her consent in 2016. In so doing, Johnson became the 16th woman to accuse the president of groping, kissing, or assaulting her. At least seven additional women have accused Trump of sexual harassment.

Beyond the slew of accusations, Trump was infamously recorded bragging about groping women on a hot mic. When his remarks were published by the Washington Post in October 2016, Trump issued a perfunctory apology and downplayed it as “locker room talk,” but the behavior he boasted about reflects the accounts of many of his accusers.

And amazingly not one of them spoke up before he ran for president even though he was a famous TV star and businessman in his own right before.

Please!!!

Trump blasts report that Mueller aides think AG William Barr sugarcoated his summary

Washington (AFP) - Donald Trump wanted a victory lap after the apparent flop of the Russia collusion probe, but on Thursday, 11 days later, the president instead found himself being chased in circles.

Over and over the president has crowed that special counsel Robert Mueller's massive investigation into the Trump team's links to Moscow resulted in total "exoneration."

But that claim is based on the conclusions of Trump's handpicked attorney general William Barr who released a four-page summary of the still secret report. The actual report, running hundreds of pages, has yet to be released publicly.

And US media reports have now quoted sources from the previously almost totally leak-proof Mueller team saying that Barr's characterization glossed over potentially damaging findings.

"Members of Mueller's team have complained to close associates that the evidence they gathered on obstruction was alarming and significant," The Washington Post said late Wednesday.

The New York Times -- another mainstay of insider US political reporting -- quoted its unnamed sources saying that Barr "failed to adequately portray the findings of their inquiry and that they were more troubling for President Trump than Mr. Barr indicated."

The Justice Department was forced Thursday to defend Barr's summary, saying "every page" of Mueller's report was flagged as potentially containing confidential material and insisting it would be released in full once "appropriate redactions" had been made.

And in a furious tweet, Trump said the Times "had no legitimate sources, which would be totally illegal, concerning the Mueller Report. In fact, they probably had no sources at all! They are a Fake News paper who have already been forced to apologize for their incorrect and very bad reporting on me!"

- Vindication -

This is not the way it was meant to be for the Republican as he launches his 2020 reelection fight.

For two years Trump loudly, repeatedly excoriated Mueller's "witch hunt" and dismissed as nonsense the idea he might have colluded with attempts by Russia to tilt public opinion in his favor during the 2016 election.

The Barr summary looked like a stunning vindication.

an accurate blast.

it wasn't mueller's aides who made the comments. it was some second hand associates, twice removed. hearsay of hearsay.

in other words, fake news made up by the NYT and bozo's post.

and you and the alky fell for it. good one denny!

The amount of cognitive dissonance in the anti-Trump media is a wonder to behold. They'll shred their last bit of credibility to keep this shit show of a conspiracy theory going.

They just can't let go. It's sad really.

and i'm still waiting for even one of those 16 alleged victims to follow through on their claims.

could it be that they're scared off by the fact that it cost skanky daniels almost $300 large to peddle her bullshit?

heh.

the alky loves to tout all these alleged victims. just once i'd like to see the allegations actually lead to something.

You won't. Every accuser who went to court has lost her case.

One lawyer had a case quietly dismissed and quit because to continue would have been to suborn perjury.

In order for me to be accused of hypocrisy I would have to tell you that it matters (to me) that Joe Biden likes to fondle, kiss, and smell the hair of young women... but it doesn't matter to me what Trump might do.

As much as there is a pretty good argument that there is a difference between documented behavior that has been photographed and videotaped, vs allegations from women who so far are zero for however many times they tried to sue the President, the fact is that I neither condone the behavior or necessarily find it completely disqualifying.

You cannot hardly turn around anymore without someone accusing you of sexual harassment. Moreover, Presidents from Slick Willie Clinton to JKF were known to engage in sexcapades, and I hardly think it matter a lot to their Presidency.

The issue here is that Democrats are the Party obsessed with #MeToo and the whole victim mentality. Republicans are not. So it WOULD be a little hypocritical after the allegations against Trump, the shitshow that was the Mueller hearings, etc, etc, for Democrats to back a Candidate for President who is going to be known through the Campaign as "Creepy Joe Biden" the man you loves to kiss and snuggle very young girls he doesn't know.

But after the whole Al Franken deal, and some of the blowback from people, some Democrats do not know whether to shit or go sailing on this subject.

and their behavior since the biden story got legs is absolutely fascinating. mika is probably the most glaring example of how quickly they're willing to jettison #me too for political expediency.

she's out there publicly begging anyone who will listen to not jeopardize the electability of gropey joe, because getting rid of trump suddenly trumps 'believe all the wymyn.'

we don't need a green new deal. we need someone to harness the power of liberal hypocrisy.
