Barr derangement syndrome!!!

Just saying!

No conspiracy, no coordination, no obstruction, no bullshit!
“How did we get to the point where the evidence is now that the president was falsely accused of colluding with the Russians, accused of being treasonous and accused of being a Russian agent, and the evidence now is that that was without a basis?” he asked. “And two years of his administration have been dominated by allegations that have now been proven false. But to listen to some of the rhetoric, you would think the Mueller report had found the opposite.”

To be clear, William Barr was pretty unflappable during his Senate hearing. But certainly the same cannot be said about the clearly nutso, over-the-top, deranged group of nut-jobs formerly called Democratic Senators. It was painful to watch Democrat after Democrat try to outdo each other as to the degree they could be disrespectful to the Attorney General. No question, Hirono won that battle hands down. She spent 4:55 out of her 5:00 time splot calling Barr names, demeaning his character, and demanding he resign. The last five seconds was used to scream out her one insulting question.

But I will provide that Kamala Harris and Cory Booker were at least honorable mentions, for no other reason than they were able to simultaneously talk, interrupt, and smirk all at the same time. I vaguely remember that Harris believed that Barr didn't do enough evaluating before drawing his conclusion, and Booker asked approximately 50 question and allowed 0.4 of second on average for Barr to answer before interrupting.

All in all it was good political theater. I mean where else can you see a bunch of adults feint utter destain because they had to wait two weeks for a report that they were never technically entitled to in the first place. Yeah, we had four separate investigations spanning two and half years, costing millions and millions of dollars, and they are having a cow because they wanted to see summary reports a few days earlier than they would have otherwise seen the entire report.

I have to actually think to myself. Is that actually true? Did what I am writing "actually" just happen, or am I in one of those really strange dreams? Did I really watch United States Senators (full grown adults) have complete meltdowns over the timing of the release of a report that they were not actually even entitled to?

Did I?

The Democrat meltdown was historic.

Barr was accused of hiding things that were in the report that has been released for two weeks.

Then Harris accused him of not reviewing all the evidence, all 1.4 million documents sent over by the Trump administration alone.

If he did that we would be here until the Ivanka Trump administration.

Truly God put Democrat senators on earth so everybody can understand the definition of stupid.

Keep slurping truthers....Barr is another abhorrent trump defender who lies just as good as donnie...His statement that the POTUS can stop any investigation that he feels unfounded should give everyone pause....but, not Lil Scotty who never misses a trump slurp....sad very sad... Amazing he did not recall the sharing of data with russians....kinda makes me feel that not only did he not look at the evidence....he did not read the report either...,. Didn't he say the evidence did not support obstruction????? Without reviewing it, how can he make that statement....??? And you will keep slurping.....

William Barr exposed the rampant desperation of Trump’s foes

It was politics at its most dishonest as they tried to argue that up is down and black is white. Barr was mostly stoic, but allowed himself a brief moment to brilliantly summarize the outlandish effort to twist reality.

No better, more concise statement has been made about the bankrupt nature of the Democratic Party and its leaders. They bet everything on Mueller validating their Big Lie of Russia, Russia, Russia, and now they have nothing.

Their threats of impeachment are hollow and their resistance movement is breaking into factions about how much socialism they should offer to voters in 2020.

Party voters should direct their fury at leaders who led them to this bitter dead end.

The nation will soon forget the bad political theater, especially with another development moving toward center stage as Barr promised again to investigate the conduct of law enforcement and the intelligence agencies during and after the 2016 campaign, including the massive numbers of leaks.

At one point, he talked of possible “overreach” by top officials, then added: “But what we have to be concerned about is a few people at the top getting into their heads that they know better than the American people.”

At another point, he said, “We have to stop using the criminal justice process as a political weapon.”

The references are unmistakable and the strongest sign yet that Barr suspects wrongdoing in very high places. It’s also a sign that the worm is turning.

Dems got the special counsel investigation they demanded and were able to play offense against Trump since 2016. Now the focus shifts to the other side of the story — the plot to steal the election and then undermine a duly elected president.

Finally, we are getting to the history that matters most.

I think Barr made the point well enough, Roger.

This was always a witch hunt. Mueller probably knew when he took over the case that it was a witch hunt. Obviously others in the FBI knew it was a witch hunt.

No American citizen should be bullied into "silence" by our law enforcement community, especially when they are skirting the issues of ethical and legal behavior. Every American has the right to fight back against allegations.

In fact, four of our Amendments in the Bill of Rights are in regards to protections for people accused of crimes. We take innocent until proven guilty, assumption of innocence, due process, and keeping our law enforcement from using their enormous weight to ruin people over political or personal reasons.

How did you do that!?!?!?

So they are either some of the dumbest fucks on the planet, or some of the most corrupt, or quite possibly a little bit of both.

But what we know at this point is that nothing in the "Dossier" was true. It was Russian disinformation designed to sow discord, and all it needed were people desperate and gullible enough to believe it... and corrupt enough to act on it.

Those desperate, gullible, corrupt people included James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Democrats in congress, Robert Mueller and apparently most of the Mueller staff.

Now all you have to whine about is the timing of how the exonerating report was released. Think about it. From a grand conspiracy between rival superpowers to a grand conspiracy of wanting to put out a report in it's entirety rather than by piecemeal.

And now Democrats want to "impeach" Barr over how a report was released? My how the not-so-mighty have fallen into the area of absolute pettiness.

If any President believes that any investigation into his actions is a witch hunt, there are absolutely no restrictions upon his actions. NONE.

Why would you say that Roger?
Sort of dumb opinion to have.

I would rather go with what the Attorney General said about it. You cannot take away a President's right to be President just because he is under investigation. He can still fire people who need to be fired. He can still make the same constitutional acts that Presidents are allowed to take.

And yes, the President can defend himself to the media, he can defend himself on Twitter, he can say good things and bad things about people within the investigation. A President is no different than any other American, and he has the same rights as any other person.

The problem here is with the 10 items Mueller's report cites to be possible "obstruction". Almost all of them dealt with the President attempting to defend himself in the media. Whether that is criticizing a witness he felt wasn't telling the truth, or asking key people (like McGahn) to dispute media stories that were technically untrue. These are things he has a right to do...

Even more so, because we all know now that he was never guilty (not even remotely so) of any of these allegations pushed on him for the past two years.

Comey knew the truth. He told the truth to Trump. But wouldn't tell the public. Mueller knew the truth. Probably within a few days of taking over the investigation. Yet he let everyone continue to believe that the President was in trouble for 22 months while he chased process crimes and investigated "obstruction".

The reality... is that we would have been much better off if Sessions would not have recused himself. We could have listened to Comey say under oath that there was no evidence of collusion and that the President was never under investigation... we could have accepted the Senate and House investigations... and left it at that.

Then spend the 22 months and $30 million dollars on a task force of people who didn't chase their legal tails around in circles... but instead did something like figure out how to protect ourselves from future attacks on our elections.

That would have made sense, Roger.

The President was correct to offer that as an alternative.

In retrospect, I don't know how you could possibly disagree with that.

It was very frightening to see Barr act like Trump's personal lawyer and not the Attorney General of the United States when he went before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday.

Just as frightening was seeing the GOP Senators provide cover, especially Committee Chairman, Sen. Graham.

No President is a king. No one is above the law. As I've stated previously, Presidential powers must be held in check by the Congress & the courts. It's a delicate balance that has tipped towards the Exec. Branch for too long.

Congress needs to pull its collective head out of its ass and put country before party and put a stop to Trump's obstruction.

The GOP needs to stop galloping towards authoritarianism.

Barr admitted he had never even reviewed the underlying evidence of the Mueller report

What Barr said was that they used the exact same procedure that they use for all decisions regarding whether to charge someone. The idea isn't that an A.G. or D.A.G. is going to filter through all of the underlying evidence that was used for an investigator to garner a summary or recommendation.

As Barr said, it is standard procedure to assume that the people who work for you (in this case Mueller and his team) were accurately relating the underlying work that was done to come to his 10 items in his report.

The idea that an Attorney General (or any District Attorney) is going to go back to the law enforcement, dig up all of the evidence, spend the same amount of time that the original investigators did to rehash the investigation... is preposterous.

bottom line: if you really wanted Barr and Rosenstein to evaluate everything, then there would have been no need for Mueller to write any report. In fact, Mueller's report (by those standards) is irrelevant and unnecessary and should be completely ignored, because the A.G. or D.A.G. didn't go back through every little detail and confirm it.

It's called being in upper management. They made decisions based on the summary positions presented to them by people who did the bulk of the work to summarize. The CEO of a company cannot rehash the underlying information for every decision or he would never make any decisions.

It was a question designed to do exactly what it did. Provide a talking point for the gullible.

Before he allegedly walked into a synagogue in Poway, Calif., and opened fire, John Earnest appears to have written a seven-page letter spelling out his core beliefs: that Jewish people, guilty in his view of faults ranging from killing Jesus to controlling the media, deserved to die. That his intention to kill Jews would glorify God.

Days later, the Rev. Mika Edmondson read those words and was stunned. “It certainly calls for a good amount of soul-searching,” said Edmondson, a pastor in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, a small evangelical denomination founded to counter liberalism in mainline Presbyterianism. Earnest, 19, was a member of an OPC congregation. His father was an elder. He attended regularly. And in the manifesto, the writer spewed not only invective against Jews and racial minorities but also cogent Christian theology he heard in the pews.

ATTORNEY GENERAL William P. Barr entered office with more credibility than many Trump appointees. A veteran of the George H.W. Bush administration, Mr. Barr avowed loyalty to the Justice Department’s mission and, nearing the end of his career, seemed to have little incentive to serve as another Trump sycophant. Yet Mr. Barr has lit his reputation on fire, and he just added more fuel during his Wednesday testimony before a Senate panel.

Much of the hearing centered on the attorney general’s decision to release a highly misleading representation of the findings of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s Russia investigation. In particular, Mr. Barr failed to acknowledge the alarming nature of Mr. Mueller’s analysis on whether President Trump obstructed justice, and he did not explain why the special counsel declined to say whether Mr. Trump was guilty of the charge. This really matters: Given the damning account in Mr. Mueller’s report, what appeared to be keeping the special counsel from accusing the president of criminal acts was not the lack of evidence but the fact that the president cannot be charged under Justice Department rules.

Mr. Barr defended himself Wednesday by insisting that his memo, publicized weeks before he released any additional material, was technically accurate, despite the fact that his spin deeply affected the reception of Mr. Mueller’s full report when the public finally got it. It was not supposed to be a full summary of the special counsel’s report, he insisted — just a brief explanation of the top-line conclusions. Mr. Barr’s long history in Washington belies his argument: He should have known how his pre-spinning of the Mueller report would distort the truth of the special counsel’s damning findings to the president’s benefit. He did it anyway.

Who knows more about being an Attorney General than a retired construction worker from California such as yourself.

Rich coming from the asshole who bragged what a genius he was the other day about law you are constantly wrong about....Barr sold his soul to the devil....why is beyond me unless trump blew him in the oval office....so sad and so predictable.....LOLOLOLOL

This was an investigation into the Russian intervention and possible "collision" .

Yes, the Attorney General of the United States, not the lawyer for the President, should have looked into the details before issuing a highly partisan summary.

You are not arguing with me, Roger.

You are arguing that you know better than Barr.

It's one thing if people (like yourself) want to pretend that your vast knowledge of the constitution, criminal law, charging decisions, and the details of the Mueller investigation

Makes your "opinions" about something like whether or not to Charge someone better than the "opinions" of the Attorney General.

But it's quite another when you make out as if you understand better than Barr does what is and is not normal procedures for carrying out the duty of the office.

The reality is that as you sit here right now, you probably know deep down that Barr did exactly what Barr and every other A.G. has done when they had to make charging decisions... and that would be to accept the summary and arguments being made by those investigators who work for them are factually accurate.

Otherwise there wouldn't be a point to having investigators who investigate and write summaries. You would just have the same people who investigate make the final decisions.

But somethings the information gatherers and number crunchers are not the final decision makers, precisely because the decision makers do not have the time to be the information gatherers, number crunchers and be the one who makes all the calls.

The one that counts is the Attorney General's.

Unfortunately, he is not fulfilling his oath to protect the defend the Constitution.

It is very obvious that Trump got what he wanted. Nixon did the same thing.

Lots of fake facts our little scotty choose to ignore....Maybe you should take a quick perusal as to why trump was investigated...no such thing as a coincidence....but his lying was continuous!!!

Herein lies two problems.

First, you are basically saying that the 440 page Mueller report was either inaccurate or incomplete and that ultimately it could not be trusted at face value to be correct in the summaries made.

Second, you are wanting to forget that this is a black or white "LEGAL" decision to be made entirely based on the Constitution, the Law, and Precedent. Politics should play exactly ZERO role in these decisions.

You are just made because the entire thing has blown up and now you look like an idiot for running around the past two years like a chicken with your head cut off screaming Conspiracy Conspiracy Conspiracy!

Obstruction was always a "booby prize" if collusion fell through. As many legal experts who have read this report have concluded, the "obstruction" portion of this investigation started the moment Mueller took the job. The idea was as much about entrapping people into process crimes as it was investigating the dead end of collusion.

BWAAAAAAAAAA!!!! About as humorous as your fake law expertise, Lil Scotty....Barr is a liar, just like trump....he didn't read the evidence because he had all ready made up his mind.....Yeah, his hemming and BS stuttering when asked simple yes or no questions was evidence of him hiding something, just like trump....who got his Roy Cohn into the AG to protect him and fuck the county which you accept with a BIG GULP !!!

President Trump's hiring of Rudy Giuliani was the Perfect Lawyer for the job.

C.H. Truth said...

he didn't read the evidence because he had all ready made up his mind

Well on certain issues he had already made up his mind, as would most Attorney Generals would on certain issues of the law. There is nothing wrong with having constitutional beliefs. In fact, I suspect that most people in the Justice department have lots of predefined ideas about what is and what isn't a crime.

But at the the end of the day, his opinion is the one that counts. He is by nature the most qualified person to make the call.

He was Mueller's boss during the Investigation.
Just as he was Mueller's boss when Mueller worked for the DOJ.

He has always been a superior officer to Mueller. His entire career. Always one step ahead of Mueller. There is a reason for that.

Anonymous said...

So now the line by Socialist Democrats is AG Barr is a liar.

Wow. Ok.

C.H. Truth said...

Let's also be clear.

The DOJ or any local DA office has to determine if they can prove a case unanimously to 12 jurors beyond a reasonable doubt.

When you cannot get 12 law experts to even agree if something is or isn't a crime... how can you possibly claim that you can make those charges stick?

The reality is that there is absolutely no way on god's green earth that you can convince 12 random people that the President is guilty of a crime for actions that the A.G. the D.A.G. and multiple other people within the Department of Justice say isn't even a crime to begin with? Not to mention, people like Alan Dershowitz, Andrew McCarthy, etc, etc...

You need EVERYONE TO BE CONVINCED - not just some really passionate people.

There is literally no chance to secure a conviction... even (as Barr points out) you concede that it is a crime, because there is no way to prove the three things necessary. Barr repeated pointed out the flaws in the argument. Repeated stated that the President had many many arguments on his behalf that a defense attorney would use to get a simple acquittal on the facts.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I am arguing with you Scott.

You are defending Barr.

He had enough time to get into the details of the investigation, because they were investigating the President!

I may be a retired construction worker, who also moved up into a very complicated position.

We had to understand highly complex engineering and construction work, in operating hospitals. I trained two people who both had college degrees in construction management how to do their job.

Both are very successful. One works for USC. He's the director of the building management and construction of new campus buildings.

I'm capable of discussing politics and the Constitution, and I try to think outside of partisan politics and see the bigger picture.

I don't like to give the executive branch unlimited authority, above the law.

You don't care because there is an (R) beside his name.

Roger

I am not the one who stated that it is not normal procedure for an Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General to go back through all of the underlying documents before making a judgement.

That was the Attorney General who stated that.

So you are arguing that the Attorney General cannot draw a conclusion unless he spends the time to go through every document gathered over 22 months by over two dozen different people. By some accounts, they gathered hundreds of thousands of documents that not even Mueller has reviewed in its entirety.

Are you seriously making that argument?

or more to the point... did you seriously fall for what Kamala Harris tossed out there as political "trick"?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I didn't fall for a trick but you sure did.

You know, the only other adversary of ours who's anywhere near as good as the Russians is China. So why should Russia have all the fun? And since Russia is clearly backing Republicans, why don't we ask China to back us,'" Clinton said during an interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, before invoking comments Trump made in 2016.

"And not only that, 'China, if you're listening, why don't you get Trump's tax returns. I'm sure our media would richly reward you,'" Clinton said. "Now, according to the Mueller report, that is not conspiracy because it's done right out in the open. So if after this hypothetical Democratic candidate says this on your show, within hours, all of a sudden, the IRS offices are bombarded with incredibly sophisticated cybertools looking for Trump's tax returns, and then extracts and them and then passes them to whatever the new WikiLeaks happens to be and they start being unraveled and disclosed, nothing wrong with that."
