Mueller's boss says Mueller "could have" reach a decision...

Barr criticizes Special Counsel
Attorney General William Barr said he believes special counsel Robert Mueller could have reached a decision on whether President Trump committed obstruction of justice, regardless of long-standing Justice Department policy that prohibits the indictment of a sitting president.
"The opinion says you cannot indict a president while he is in office, but he could've reached a decision as to whether it was criminal activity," Barr added. "But he had his reasons for not doing it, which he explained and I am not going to, you know, argue about those reasons."
When he became aware that Mueller would not make a determination in his obstruction of justice probe — which investigated 11 instances in which Mr. Trump tried to derail the Russia investigation — Barr said he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein "felt it was necessary" for them to make decision on the issue.
In a letter to Congress after Mueller submitted his report, Barr said he and Rosenstein concluded that the nearly two-year investigation did not contain sufficient evidence to establish Mr. Trump obstructed justice.
Meanwhile, Barr takes a second shot at Mueller:
Mueller said the U.S. Constitution "requires a process other than the criminal justice system to formally accuse a sitting president of wrongdoing." Many Democrats said the special counsel's remarks represented a referral of his investigation to Congress, which has the power to impeach and remove a president from office.
Barr said Thursday he did not know what Mueller was "suggesting" in his statement. "The Department of Justice doesn't use our powers of investigating crimes as an adjunct to Congress," he added.

This has been a clear message that William Barr has sent throughout this process, and it's obvious that he believes Mueller "used" the Department of Justice to do things that were clearly not within the scope of his appointment.

Barr has stated in the past that the DOJ does not sit Grand Juries to turn information over to Congress. He reiterates this point to a greater degree by pretty much stating that the DOJ does not appoint Special Counsels to do investigative work to turn over to Congress.

Its obvious that Barr sees Mueller as overstepping his authority. It's also obvious that Mueller "knew" that Barr would see it that way, which is why he closed up shop within a matter of weeks after Barr became the Attorney General.

I would offer that if Jeff Sessions was still A.G. and Rod Rosenstein was still the person overseeing the Special Counsel, that Robert Mueller would still be digging, leaking, and conniving to undercut the Trump Presidency. Likely planning to unload a bigger pile of crap than he did, sometime right around election time 2020.

Jonathan Turkey is hammering Mueller. To come out, turn a 400 page report into 8 minutes of incoherent nonspeak and refuse to answer any questions, Mueller hurt his own reputation more than anything.

Your President sucks cock.

Sailors from the McCain were not invited to Mr. Trump’s speech on another ship, the Wasp, at the Yokosuka Naval Base, although crew members from most other American ships at the base were, a Navy service member based at Yokosuka said.

When several sailors from the McCain — wearing uniforms that bore the ship’s name and insignia — turned up anyway

Russia, Russia, Russia! That’s all you heard at the beginning of this Witch Hunt Hoax...And now Russia has disappeared because I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected. It was a crime that didn’t exist. So now the Dems and their partner, the Fake News Media,.....

Later today as he was getting ready to leave, a reporter asked him if they were going to impeach him. He said, "the courts will not let it happen"

His ignorance about the Constitution is amazing because, if the Senate convictions him, the courts have no Constitutional authority in the impeachment process.

Roger, a simple question .
Will Speaker in Name Only Polosi Impeach this President?

Which Democrats would find the strength to vote against Impeachment?

Damn it White Joe.
"Greenpeace, a left-wing environmental group, released its “climate change report card” results on Thursday, ranking the Democrat presidential candidates on the issue, including former Vice President Joe Biden, who received a D-minus grade.

“Biden, the Democratic front runner, has yet to release a detailed plan on how he will combat climate change,” a Bloomberg report said. “But the scorecard evaluated 19 candidates on their commitments to ending the use of fossil fuels and support for environmental policies based on statements, legislative records and published plans. Some candidates also responded to a 29-question survey from the environmental group.”

I don't think that the house will have impeachment hearings, but they will have investigations into alleged wrongdoing by the President in section two of the Muller investigation report.

If they jump right into impeachment hearings, they will be doing what Trump wants. He will not get convicted by the Senate, and he will keep shouting Witch Hunt and hoax. It would probably get him reelected.

i think it's morbidly fascinating to live in such a historic time where we get to witness the presumption of innocence - a concept that dates back to english common law and well before - get shitcanned.

i honestly never thought i'd live to see it.

all over a fable concocted to excuse an epic political defeat.

where this will get really interesting is when we get to test out all the new precedents that have been set.

an outgoing GOP president can now spy on a likely democrat presidential candidate using all means at their disposal - FBI, CIA, NSA, etc..., and when the democrat wins, the outgoing GOP president gets to appoint an "independent" (LOL) counsel to "investigate" (LOL) the incoming president for a full two years into his or her first term. those handpicked to be on the investigative team will be the most rabidly partisan conservatives on the earth. (hopefully the second coming of lee atwater) and they will enjoy the luxury of being able to probe, dig, leak, accuse, fuck with, lather, rinse, repeat the incoming democrat president from the womb to the present day. nothing will be off limits, no legislative work gets done (thank God), and the nation gets plunged into the next biggest clusterfuck in a generation.

we really run the risk of completely destroying all that the founders created, but hey...

...orange man bad, folks. and you just can't un-ring that bell.

would someone please reclassify idiocracy from comedy genre to documentary?

The news media will suddenly discover "constitutional principles" that can't be violated.

North Korea has executed the country’s special envoy to the United States over February’s failed summit between Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump, South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo newspaper reported Friday.

Kim Hyok Chol, the chief negotiator who led the working-level negotiations with the U.S., was executed in March alongside several other officials in punishment for the outcome of the event, the newspaper reported. Trump and Kim met in Hanoi, Vietnam, for their second official summit to discuss Pyongyang’s nuclear program, but the talks abruptly collapsed after the pair failed to come to a deal. Tensions with the North have only increased in recent months after a period of relative calm.

“Kim Hyok Chol was investigated and executed at Mirim Airport with four foreign ministry officials in March,” an unnamed North Korean officials told the Chosun Ilbo, according to a translation from Reuters.

1140
WASHINGTON — Thomas B. Hofeller achieved near-mythic status in the Republican Party as the Michelangelo of gerrymandering, the architect of partisan political maps that cemented the party’s dominance across the country.

But after he died last summer, his estranged daughter discovered hard drives in her father’s home that revealed something else: Mr. Hofeller had played a crucial role in the Trump administration’s decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census.

Files on those drives showed that he wrote a study in 2015 concluding that adding a citizenship question to the census would allow Republicans to draft even more extreme gerrymandered maps to stymie Democrats. And months after urging President Trump’s transition team to tack the question onto the census, he wrote the key portion of a draft Justice Department letter claiming the question was needed to enforce the 1965 Voting Rights Act — the rationale the administration later used to justify its decision.

Those documents, cited in a federal court filing Thursday by opponents seeking to block the citizenship question, have emerged only weeks before the Supreme Court is expected to rule on the legality of the citizenship question. Critics say adding the question would deter many immigrants from being counted and shift political power to Republican areas.

Keep slurping Lil Scotty, your days of old white elitism is being challenged with transparency on how you have tried to stack the deck in your minority status.....Hopefully the supremes will act accordingly!!!!

A trove of documents brought to the attention of the Supreme Court on Thursday makes it hard to see the Trump administration’s efforts to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census as anything but a partisan power grab.

The court will decide before the end of June whether Wilbur Ross, the commerce secretary, was justified under federal law in adding the citizenship question — a move that would nearly certainly lead to a serious undercounts of Hispanics and in immigrant-rich communities. During a hearing on the case in April, it appeared that a majority of the justices was prepared to allow the administration to include the question.

But the explosive new evidence disclosed by the plaintiffs in the case ought to give the justices pause about the ruling they’re about to issue. This is one of the most consequential cases before the court this term. The decision on it will have far-reaching effects on the distribution of political power and federal funding across the country for the next decade and beyond.

According to the plaintiffs who brought the New York challenge to the citizenship question, Mark Neuman, a key adviser to Mr. Ross on census issues, and John Gore, a Justice Department official who oversees voting rights enforcement, gave false or misleading testimony during the course of the litigation about why the Trump administration was so intent on including a citizenship query in the decennial count.

As detailed in The Times and in court filings on Thursday, Thomas Hofeller, a longtime Republican expert on redistricting who died last year, was a major force behind adding the citizenship question to the census. The plaintiffs say in the court filings that Trump administration officials concealed his role in the matter “through affirmative misrepresentations” that may merit sanctions against government officials.

Judge Jesse Furman of Federal District Court, the first of three judges to strike down the citizenship question, has asked the Justice Department to respond to the charges and has scheduled a hearing for next week.

Trying to figure out the point of these post other than Dennis being annoyed.

So far the only thing I can come up with is:

1. Working for Kim Jon Um is not a good career move.
2. Elections have consequences. Especially those decennial elections that coincide with the census.

No, the Supreme Court will decide the whether executive branch in the form of the Commerce Secretary has authority to put the question on the census. The answer should be unequivocally yes.

Partisanship is irrelevant to the question.
