More liberal lies!

Actually a recycled lie. But amazing what the left gets away with!

These pictures were originally circulated prior to the 2018 elections, and probably convinced unsuspecting people that Trump himself went and wrapped a bunch of kids in tin foil.  Problem was he wasn't President and these are actually thermal blankets (most people should be so lucky).

Since it worked so well the first time, why not pull the same garbage again with the upcoming 2020 elections? I am sure it "still" convinced the CHT liberal stooges that it's all Trump's fault.

The Salt Lake Tribune's editorial board on Saturday came to the defense of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), arguing it's correct to call the Trump administration's migrant detention facilities "concentration camps."

"They are not work camps. They are not death camps. At least, not on purpose," the board wrote. "Our government is not building massive gas chambers and industrial crematoria. It is not conducting sick medical experiments on members of an unfavored class."

"But that does not mean that the places into which we are herding tens of thousands of migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers are not properly called concentration camps. Because that is precisely what they are," the board added.

The editorial also took issue with how Utah lawmakers have responded to the crisis at the southern border.

The board acknowledged that the detention facilities are in no way similar to the concentration camps Nazi Germany built for the mass slaughter of European Jews during World War II.

Yes, we do have concentration camps.

They are not work camps. They are not death camps. At least, not on purpose. Our government is not building massive gas chambers and industrial crematoria. It is not conducting sick medical experiments on members of an unfavored class.

But that does not mean that the places into which we are herding tens of thousands of migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers are not properly called concentration camps. Because that is precisely what they are.

When some in the public eye dare to tell that truth, as the media-savvy Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did the other day, enablers of the administration’s cruel policies cry foul. They say that using correct terms such as “concentration camps" — or, worse, invoking the term “Never again” — unfairly equates what is going on now at our southern border with the Nazis’ “Final Solution” — the deliberate murder of millions of people.

It is true that we are not doing that. We are doing this. The two are not morally equivalent. And we probably don’t have reason to fear that this is necessarily going to become that.

But, then, we never do.

Because that starts as this. Some of the people who study, and some of the people who survived or are descended from survivors of the Holocaust, are pointing out that that crime against humanity did not arrive overnight.

It worked its way up, from nasty political speeches (check) to politicians seeking and gaining power with promises to protect the purity of the nation from foreign invasion (check) to denying basic human rights and decency to people of an unfavored class (check).

The same warning is being raised by past residents of the internment camps — concentration camps — in which we confined Americans of Japanese origin or descent during the dark days of World War II.

The places where these tempest-tossed humans are being held are kept deliberately uncomfortable and largely out of view of the public, the press, members of Congress and even the courts. The whole point is to keep them beyond the reach of the rights and protections that, by our Constitution and international treaties, are afforded to all persons, not just citizens.

The people being held there are cold, hungry, dirty and often sick. Children are separated from parents. Children are caring for children. Medical care is not to be found. A few — not millions, but a few — have died.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Our nation is operating concentration camps for refugee children. We need to stop denying that and decide if we are comfortable with that fact. And how we will explain it to our children.

The CHT host doesn't give a flying fuck because he is in love with the Orange man who stole his mind.

The administration actually told the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals the other day that it is under no obligation to provide refugee children with soap, toothbrushes or anywhere to sleep but cold cement floors in overcrowded cages. They’ve already cut off funding for education, counseling and recreation.

The argument that our government’s failings don’t matter because the migrants have broken the law is legally and morally bankrupt.

People have a moral right to seek a better life, and a legal right to seek asylum. If our border and immigration system isn’t up to the task, that’s not their fault, it is ours.

Federal officials, from the White House on down, work for us, spend our money, act in our name. We hold them to account, not the huddled masses. Complaining that we shouldn’t have to deal with this crisis is like carping that forests shouldn’t burn and rivers shouldn’t rise.

And what are the elected officials from Utah — home of a global church, the welcoming Utah Compact and a population generally decent when it comes to refugees — doing?

Well, Sen. Mitt Romney has a bill to boost the use of the E-Verify system that is supposed to tell employers if job applicants are legally allowed to work in the U.S. Not a bad idea, probably, but kind of like bringing a roll of paper towels to a hurricane.

Good, caring, moral Utahns, and their elected representatives, should be shouting bloody murder over this extended and deliberate abuse of human rights. If nothing else, our separation-of-powers expert, Sen. Mike Lee, should be demanding congressional oversight and authorization of what is and isn’t happening.

Our nation is operating concentration camps for refugee children. We need to stop denying that and decide if we are comfortable with that fact. And how we will explain it to our children.

JUNE 24, 2019

We are learning of even more horrifying details about the conditions at detention centers where children are being held on the border.

Hundreds of children have been detained under dangerous conditions, in some cases for up to weeks at a time. Lawyers who recently visited the centers described seeing young children and teenagers not being able to shower for days or even weeks, inadequate food, flu outbreaks and prolonged periods of detention.

One doctor who visited one of the detention centers said the conditions "could be compared to torture facilities."

Image
Almost 300 migrant children were removed from one particularly egregious border patrol facility in Texas.

Some of the children were wearing dirty clothes covered in mucus or even urine, said Elora Mukherjee, the director of the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic at Columbia Law School. Teenage mothers wore clothing stained with breast milk. None of the children had access to soap or toothpaste, she said.

“Almost every child I spoke with had not showered or bathed since they crossed the border — some of them more than three weeks ago,” she said. “There is a stench that emanates from some of the children because they haven’t had an opportunity to put on clean clothes and to take a shower.”

DHS officials told NBC News that the children are being transferred from the facility to a “tent detention camp” in El Paso, Texas, where they will remain indefinitely under custody of Border Patrol until they are handed over to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Erika Andiola, immigration rights activist and Chief Advocacy Officer at the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, joined Chris Matthews today to discuss the issue.

When asked if conditions would improve for the migrants in their new facility, Andiola said she did not know.

“What I can tell you is that I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the same or worse conditions," she said.

“There has to be a solution right here, right now.”

June 24, 2019
Hundreds of migrant children have been transferred out of a filthy Border Patrol station in Texas where they had been detained for weeks without access to soap, clean clothes or adequate food, the authorities confirmed on Monday, suggesting that worsening conditions and overcrowding inside federal border facilities may have reached a breaking point.

The move came days after a group of lawyers was given access to the station in Clint, Tex., about 20 miles southeast of El Paso, and said they saw children as young as 8 caring for infants, toddlers with no diapers, and children who said they were waking up at night because they were hungry.

Though the station had held a relatively small population of migrants, compared to the tens of thousands who have been crossing the border each month, the lawyers’ accounts offered a rare view into a system that has largely been hidden from public view.

Other examples of facilities with poor conditions have trickled out in recent months through reports published by the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general, as well as from other lawyers who have occasionally been allowed in. Access to the facilities has been largely restricted, however, even as federal authorities have declared that the number of migrants on the border has escalated beyond their ability to safely handle.

“We continue to experience a humanitarian and security crisis at the southern border of the United States, and the situation becomes more dire each day,” said Evelyn Stauffer, a spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Human Services’s Office of Refugee Resettlement, which houses children after they have been transferred out of temporary border facilities.

Ms. Stauffer added that the agency, along with the Homeland Security Department, Defense Department and Justice Department, had requested $4.5 billion to help care for the growing number of migrant children who are in shelters.

“We cannot stress enough the urgency,” she said.

The visit by lawyers to the Clint facility on June 17 was allowed as a result of a judge’s order in a long-running court case concerning the conditions under which migrant children are held in government facilities. After they arrived and observed what was happening, the lawyers, including representatives of some of the nation’s most prominent law schools, immediately began lobbying for the children to be released.

[Read more about the children held in unsanitary and overcrowded conditions.]

Some 249 of the children were transferred into a shelter system maintained by the Office of Refugee Resettlement, according to Ms. Stauffer; an unknown number of others were sent to a temporary tent facility in El Paso, according to Elizabeth Lopez-Sandoval, a spokeswoman for Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, Democrat of Texas, who began looking into the overcrowded facility in Clint last week after reports about the conditions there.

Hundreds of Migrant Children Are Moved Out of an Overcrowded Border Station https://nyti.ms/2WXhaQs

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Some sick children had been quarantined in Clint, and the lawyers who traveled there were allowed to speak to those children by phone, but not in person.

Ms. Lopez-Sandoval said that only 30 children remain in Clint. The Border Patrol station there was meant to be temporary; children are supposed to be transferred out after 72 hours. But many had been languishing there because the Department of Health and Human Services’s shelters were full.

The strain on that system began to let up last week as a result of two changes: First, the Mexican government launched tougher efforts to limit the number of border crossers from Central America, under pressure from President Trump. Second, the Department of Health and Human Services scaled back a policy requiring fingerprints from family members who applied to sponsor children in its care, speeding up the children’s release from government facilities. Many of those who apply to sponsor such children are undocumented themselves and unwilling to submit identifiers that could put them or their family members in danger of arrest and deportation.

A Department of Homeland Security official said that conditions in the tent facility in El Paso were much better than in Clint because the facility had been built especially for families, though it was not known whether the children had been given access to soap or showers since they arrived.

The official, who asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to discuss the situation, said that the children would have been screened medically when they arrived in El Paso, though it was not yet clear if any had required hospitalization.

People have a moral right to seek a better life, and a legal right to seek asylum.

not quite. people have a basic human right to seek a better life. morality, or better yet the moral relativism so often espoused by the left has no play here. they might have a basic human right, but it cannot come at the expense of someone else. not in a free society.

you're right about the asylum piece though. but the operative word is SEEK. there is no guarantee of asylum, and coming up with a story about how you'll die in your third world shithole if not granted asylum in the US is not your ticket in.

If our border and immigration system isn’t up to the task, that’s not their fault, it is ours.

and this is where you and the rest of the numbskulls on the left disconnect from logic, reason, and the law.

our border and immigration system exists for two distinct reasons alky -

to protect the security of our border and to vet, screen, and allow in those who we want.

we owe absolutely fucking no one admission, asylum, safe haven, or whateverthefuck else you want to call it.

it's OUR FUCKING BORDER. we get to say who gets in and why, and how long they're allowed to stay.

look genius. instead of trying to smuggle in fresh democrat voters, try getting the ones that already reside here to vote for you. perhaps try something unifying instead of divisive. stop pitting special interest groups against one another in some fucked up class warfare charade.

“Let nobody misunderstand what she was saying. When she used the words ‘concentration camps,’ what she meant to invoke was the Holocaust. She didn’t make distinctions between death camps and detention centers, between Dachau and Auschwitz. Even in the concentration camps that may not have been death camps, so many people died because they were forced laborers and everything like that. And of course, ‘Never Again’ is the direct invocation of the Holocaust.”

“By making that comparison, she becomes a Holocaust denier, because what’s she’s saying is: ‘Gee, if all that Hitler did is what Trump is doing on the southern border,’ then there were no death camps, there were no killing squads, there was no genocide, there was no murder of a million-and-a-half babies, there were no selections where people were picked based on their health and whether they were twins and subjected to the most gruesome form of punishment.'”

More fake science....Update of my post of last week about a forecasted record heat wave for europe....My premise than was to see how those models verified.....Well, I'll be!!!!! Short term forecasts.....are predicting a massive heat wave for today and tomorrow.....Yep....modeling dead nuts!!!!! BTW no single weather event will confirm GW....but the trend and yearly averages will certainly approach record numbers again as the warming trend is getting pretty hard to ignore even for idiots like the goat fucker, Lil Scotty and our dearest cramps....!!!!

From todays Wa Post

By Ian Livingston June 24 at 3:40 PM
An intense heat wave is set to bake Europe in coming days, and it could be historic, potentially shattering records across a large portion of the continent.

The heat wave is expected to peak in the middle part of this week, when a swath from Spain to Poland is expected to see temperatures at least 20 to 30 degrees (11 to 17 degrees Celsius) above normal. Actual temperatures should surge to at least 95 to 105 degrees (35 to 40 degrees Celsius) over a sprawling area, with some spots hotter.

Weather Underground’s Bob Henson notes that this projected heat wave is “unusually strong for so early in the summer.”

Early summer heat waves can be especially lethal, as people have not yet had time to acclimatize to the higher temperatures. Older adults, the homeless and those without air conditioning are most susceptible to heat-related illnesses.

ADVERTISING

“Heat waves are silent killers,” tweeted Stefan Rahmstorf, a climate scientist at Postdam University. “The 2003 European heat wave has caused about 70,000 fatalities. Last year’s hot summer in Germany has been estimated to have caused at least 1,000 excess deaths.”

The hottest temperatures are likely to occur across western and central mainland Europe, escalating Tuesday and peaking Wednesday into the end of the workweek.

In Paris, temperatures may approach 100 degrees Wednesday through Friday. The city, along with more than half of France, is under an orange alert, the second-highest level on the country’s heat scale. The scale was instituted after the 2003 summer heat wave, which was blamed for 15,000 deaths.

Farther northeast, Berlin should also flirt with the century mark. Even Copenhagen on the main island of Denmark is set to head into the 80s.

This heard on the radio this morning concerning 350 children crowded into squalid conditions in holding cells intended for 150. The children, who only now have been moved, were found hungry, filthy, sick, scared, with no basic hygiene, no soap, no showers, open toilets, no cots, sleeping on concrete floors beneath inadequate blankets, with very little adult supervision so that eight year-olds were trying to look out for 17 babies who cannot walk.

Some had been detained for nearly a month although by law they are not supposed to be detained for more than 72 hours.

A typo in the state’s automatic voter registration bill would have forced non-citizens to register despite their ineligibility — but lawmakers vowed it would be fixed.

The bill directs designated state agencies such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, State Board of Elections and Department of Social Services to automatically enroll residents who fill out any paperwork with their agencies.

An “opt-out” box would let people choose not to enroll. But sloppily written instructions specifically directed ineligible non-citizens to not check the box.

The instructions were actually supposed to tell them to check the box so they wouldn’t inadvertently be registered.

“There is a drafting error which [the Democratic] majority has recognized will be fixed in a chapter amendment,” Assembly Democrats wrote in a memo obtained by The Post.

A “chapter amendment” means lawmakers will pass the bill as-is and then edit the language after the fact.

———————

This “accident” would have provided illegals with clear legal cover to greatly impact upcoming election outcomes.

Does anyone honestly think that if non-citizens overwhelmingly voted Republican such an “accident” would ever occur?

Not likely.

Concentration camps existed long before Auschwitz.

...after WWI ended, the evolution of concentration camps took another grim turn. Where internment camps of the First World War had focused on foreigners, the camps that followed—the Soviet Gulag, the Nazi Konzentrationslager—used the same methods on their own citizens.

In the first Cuban camps, fatalities had resulted from neglect. Half a century later, camps would be industrialized using the power of a modern state. The concept of the concentration camp would reach its apotheosis in the death camps of Nazi Germany, where prisoners were reduced not just to a number, but to nothing.

Acting director of US Customs and Border Protection to resign

WASHINGTON — Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner John Sanders told employees on Tuesday that he would be stepping down from his post on July 5, according to a spokesman for the agency.

The resignation of Sanders, who became acting commissioner just two months ago, follows reports of children living in squalor at border stations where they often lack child care, bedding or even basic hygiene items.

Sanders was named acting commissioner after upheaval at the Department of Homeland Security led to the firing of Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in April and then CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan took over DHS in an acting role. CBP is part of DHS.
