This has been one of those dumb media stories about Ocasio-Cortez (as if are another kind of story about her). Funny thing is that not many in the media are really taking Ocasio-Cortez to task about comments that obviously are very insulting to a lot of Americans. But being tone deaf and a Democrat is sort of acceptable behavior. Apparently when Democrats say insulting things, it is just a matter of showing passion for an issue. You know, versus a Republican, who is called a bigot, racist, sexist, anti-Semite, or whatever, even if the words have to be twisted and analysed ten different ways to arrive at those conclusions.
There really does seem to be a ton of hostility with many newer members of the Democratic Party against the Jewish community, Israel, and the religion in general. While I am not sure Ocasio-Cortez made these "concentration camp" analogies to piss off Jews, and throw more fuel on the fire, she certainly didn't take a step back and think before she spoke.

Last time I checked, they were using the same detainment centers that have been used for years. Moreover, many criminal are put in jail while they wait for a trial.
The fact is that the law determines that many of these border crossers are actually "criminals" for doing so. I get that AOC and others in the Democratic Party (so desperate for new voters) want them just immediately released into society... but that's not how the rule of law works.
The Jews who were rounded up, put in slave labor camps, and sometimes just exterminated did not commit any crimes. They didn't cross borders. They were not living in Germany without citizenship papers, hiding in the shadows. They were pulled from their houses, separated from family members, and put into camps.
The reality is that these families that come here should fully expect to be detained, sometimes be separated from other family members, at least until they can sort out the legalities. There is no "entitlement" of non-citizens to just enter the country and be allowed to roam free.

Our task was easier this time because, by now, we’ve assembled a database of more than 10,000 false or misleading claims from Trump. The president often deploys the same lines, over and over, in interviews, tweets and campaign rallies.
So here are some of the highlights — and lowlights — of Trump’s announcement on June 18 that he will run for reelection.

When Trump wears us down by his frequent, even daily violation of the law and our democratic norms, we must not only make a record of it, but support those organizations and individuals who are keeping his administration strapped down with lawsuits, like Lilliputians tying down a dangerous Gulliver, one who wants to eviscerate government to prepare for his return to the private sector, because after all, every move he makes has the picture in his mind of one beneficiary - himself.
Every day we spend watching the dismantlement of government and society, we are growing stronger. Without realizing it, Trump is creating an American majority that will last for decades, one that is sure of it’s own anti-racism, it’s sense of fairness and inclusion, of the rightness of human and civil rights, of the need to make certain the poor, working class and middle class will no longer slide out of our consciousness while we self-indulge in consumerism.
Be patient, but stay active, it all counts, especially by keeping our consciousness activated and prepared for our great leap forward as a society. There is more Trump behind us than there is in front of us, of that I am positive.

Many of AOC's wet nurses tried to make the distinction between concentration camps and death camps to back up her foolish assertion. Let me tell you the difference. The people who are detained in the U.S. "concentration camps" are there of their own accord. They left their countries willingly and came to request asylum in the U.S. If asylum hopefuls wanted to leave and return to their own country, they could do that. By contrast, Jews did not willingly present themselves to the concentration camps. They were not free to go home if they wanted. Jews were taken from their communities in countries where they lived, they were rounded up, and millions were killed. That was the plan, it was the final solution. The U.S. is not planning to exterminate the migrants. We did not seek them out and forcibly bring them here. So no, there are not "concentration camps" in the home of the free. Thank you and goodnight.
