According to the transcript of a July call between Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s newly elected president, Trump raised the issue of “CrowdStrike” and suggested Ukraine might be in possession of the “server,” a reference to the DNC server.

“I would like you to do us a favor,” Trump said. “I would like you to find out what happened with the whole situation with Ukraine, with CrowdStrike. The server, they say Ukraine has it. There are a lot of things that went on, the whole situation.”

To say the least.

CrowdStrike’s Ties to Democrats

CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity firm with strong ties to the Democratic Party. After the DNC server was hacked in early 2016, Perkins Coie, a politically connected law firm, hired CrowdStrike on behalf of the DNC to find out who was behind the intrusion. (Perkins Coie is the same law firm that hired Fusion GPS on behalf of the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign to dig up Russia-related dirt on Team Trump before the election.)

That isn’t the extent of CrowdStrike’s dubious political ties. Its co-founder, Moscow-born Dmitri Alperovitch, is associated with the Clinton Foundation; in 2015, CrowdStrike received $100 million in funding from Google whose chairman, Eric Schmidt, was a generous supporter of Hillary Clinton. CrowdStrike’s president is Shawn Henry, who headed up the FBI’s cybercrimes division during the Obama Administration when Robert Mueller was director.

According to an October 2016 profile in Esquire, at the same time, the Obama Justice Department was concocting the Trump-Russia collusion ruse, Alperovitch and Henry were working with top Justice officials on cyber “war games.” In March 2016—as the DNC email system allegedly was compromised by the Russians—Alperovitch and Henry organized “four teams of ten people—representing the government, the private sector, European and Australian allies” for the exercise. (Another participant included a former member of GCHQ, the British intelligence agency working with former CIA Director John Brennan in 2016 on the Russian collusion scheme.)

Among the officials working with CrowdStrike on the exercise was John Carlin, Mueller’s former chief of staff and then head of the Justice Department’s national security division. Carlin facilitated the October 2016 FISA warrant for Trump campaign aide Carter Page; he also received regular briefings from then-deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe on both the Clinton email investigation and the Trump-Russia collusion probe. (Michael Atkinson, the intelligence community’s inspector general at the center of the so-called whistleblower controversy, worked directly for Carlin in 2016 and 2017.)

Probably just a coincidence, right?

Then, in June 2016—around the same time Christopher Steele began compiling his anti-Trump dossier and James Comey’s FBI was investigating Trump campaign aides—Alperovitch authored a report that concluded hackers tied to the Kremlin were responsible for the DNC server breach.

“CrowdStrike stands fully by its analysis and findings identifying two separate Russian intelligence-affiliated adversaries present in the DNC network in May 2016,” he wrote.

Trump’s Road from Wishing Impeachment to Dreading It
September 29, 2019 at 7:38 am EDT

Politico: “The president for months genuinely believed he’d gain politically from an impeachment inquiry because he thought Democrats were out to get him on any issue they could, and such an inquiry would make that clear.”

“Privately, he talked to aides about the way Democrats even picked up seats in the 1998 midterms as President Bill Clinton faced impeachment hearings. Trump also latched onto the fact that removing a president required the approval of two-thirds of the Senate — so he felt assured that as long as he maintained the support of Senate Republicans, he would be fine.”

“The president’s optimistic, even nonchalant attitude melted away this week in a series of sudden developments as he crisscrossed meetings at the United Nations in New York. Trump and a coterie of aides were stunned by a swift progression of events that upended their longtime thinking about how an impeachment scenario would proceed. By the time they returned to the White House Thursday, they had tested and retested strategies on the fly as they began to recognize the perilous road ahead that would likely look far different from anything this president or any of his predecessors faced.”

THE ONLY "STRATEGY" HE HAS LEFT IS TO FUME AND FUSS

Sounds like a lot of wishful thinking.

This story is turning out like all the others. A lot a hysteria at the beginning then we find out nothing illegal or improper happened.

Then story quietly goes away.

ulvaney on Shaky Ground
September 28, 2019 at 9:09 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 39 Comments

“Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney is on shaky ground in the wake of a bad week for President Trump,” CNN reports.

“The sources say the President is not upset with Mulvaney for the White House releasing the summary of his July 25 call with Ukraine’s leader or the whistleblower complaint because he had been convinced that it was necessary.”

“What Trump and other aides are frustrated with, according to the sources, is that Mulvaney did not have a strategy for defending and explaining the contents of those documents as soon as they were publicly released.”

THAT'S LIKE ASKING MULVANEY TO DO THE IMPOSSIBLE

Ukraine Envoy to Testify Next Week

“Former US Special Envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker plans to appear at his deposition next Thursday in front of three congressional committees,” CNN reports.

“The source would not say if the White House is seeking to use executive privilege to constrict Volker in terms of what he can say or provide.”

This is a very good question and one I asked when Adam Schiff lied in his opening statement.

If The Case For Trump’s Impeachment Is So Strong, Why Are Liberals Lying About It?

Almost everything about the allegations that have Democrats moving toward impeachment of the President is a lie, a proven lie. And they don’t care.

The call with Ukrainian President Zelensky did take place, so that part is true. From there, the lies begin.

“There was a quid pro quo” they said. The President threatened to withhold aid money from Ukraine unless Zelensky investigated Joe and Hunter Biden, we were told. The transcript showed that did not happen.

That fact did not stop any Democrat from saying it did. It did not stop anchors at CNN and MSNBC from saying it did.

On MSNBC, Katy Tur summarized the transcript this way: “Will you do me a favor and investigate Vice President Biden’s son? Will you do me a favor and get involved in the 2020 election? Vice President Biden is my chief political opponent.”

On CNN, Brianna Keillor said President Trump told Zelensky, “’I would like you to do us a favor…’ the President asks Zelensky to dig up dirt on Biden and his son, Hunter.”

The only problem is the President said nothing of the sort. The President was asking for Zelensky’s help investigating attempts by the previous Ukraine government’s meddling in the 2016 election. Read the transcript for yourself. To get to any mention of Biden you have to skip 540 words, fully three quarters the length of an op-ed. But CNN and MSNBC simply erased those words and created their own version of the conversation.

There was a time when the media reported on Ukraine’s attempt to influence our election made news. In January of 2017, Politico ran a story with the headline, “Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump backfire.”

while hypocrisy is the bedrock of liberalism, liberalism's default position on every issue and topic is to LIE.

liberalism's promise is based upon LIES. every liberal policy proposal is a LIE.

lying is the very essence of liberalism. it is mute without the ability to LIE.

As true today as it was 4 days ago.

This was awkward for MSNBC.

Well worth the read. Of course one has to have an open non-TDS infected mind.

Why Trump Did Nothing Wrong in His Phone Call with Zelensky

Much of the confusion around this case stems from the entanglement of two groups specializing in bamboozlement: lawyers and spies. Espionage and the law have specialized argots that hide fabrication and skulduggery. Nonetheless, critical analysis reveals that the call was in bounds and that objections to it reduce to absurdity.

My argument relies on an assertion, a distinction, and showing the absurdity of the other side of the argument taken to its logical conclusions.

There's too much to try to summarize. You have to read the full article itself.
