Reports! Taylor struggled and bumbled under cross examination!

Reports are that Bill Taylor's "explosive" testimony went awry once he was cross examined by Republican lawmakers. Republicans on the committee stated that Taylor quite literally had no actual knowledge of anything, but rather was providing literally nothing but hearsay information. Moreover, most of his testimony was in direct contrast to first hand accounts as well as what other available documented information.

I hate the bad orange man!

According to these accounts, Taylor came off as a partisan deep state player who was very upset at his own reduced role in the Trump administration, and seemed to carry a ton of personal animosity towards Trump and those Trump trusts in these situations.

Not to mention, all of the things he suggested was going to happen, never actually happened. Under normal circumstances the idea that his information was hearsay, contradicted by more valid accounts and information, and did not pan out to anything rooted in reality "should" make people take what he says with a grain of salt.

Add it all up, and you have a disgruntled employee lashing out at the boss because things are changing in a manner that he doesn't like. What he has is quite literally nothing more than unfounded rumors that he would like to air to make his boss look bad.

The fact is that while Schiff can keep his fan base in the dark by leaking what he wants them to hear to the usual liberal MSM players, who will then report it as fact. Then liberals will hypocritically demand that any rebuttals leaked to FOX News or anyone conservative is akin to "fake news".

The bigger problem for Democrats is that this person "WILL" testify in an open public hearing. The public will hear EVERYTHING that he says, including what happens under cross examination. With Schiff and the Democrats "leaking" the good stuff and denouncing the "bad stuff" as fake news, they will have little to gain and everything to lose from airing this in an open setting!

Support for the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump's dealings in Ukraine continue to grow, as does support for his removal from office, a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday found.

A 55% majority of registered voters said they approved of the inquiry, while 43% said they disapproved. A week ago, 51% of voters said they approved and 45% disapproved. Quinnipiac has found support for the inquiry to be in the low-50% range since it was announced at the end of September

The poll found that slightly less than half of Americans support impeaching Trump and removing him from office, though support for such a move has been trending up since the inquiry began.

Currently, 48% support Trump's removal. That is two percentage points higher than last week and 11 points higher than on Sept. 25.

But opinions on impeachment continue to divide sharply along party lines. Only 10% of Republican voters approve of the inquiry while 88% disapprove, and just 6% think Trump should be removed. By contrast, 93% of Democrats approve of the inquiry while 7% disapprove, and 86% think Trump should be removed.

Holding the Line

Politico reviews Holding the Line: Inside Trump’s Pentagon with Secretary Mattis by Guy Snodgrass.

“The book is the first account from inside the highest reaches of the Pentagon of how Trump has remade the American national security apparatus, reporting that Mattis respected the president for having highly tuned political skills but came to believe his policies were undermining the nation. And it reveals that even a Cabinet member like Mattis, a four-star general with ample experience in wartime, found himself unable to make a difference in shaping major decisions.”

I guess Ch thinks that in public testimony Taylor will come off looking bad when he affirms, "I thought then and I still think now that it was crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign."

EVEN FOX NEWS, AFTER QUOTING SOME OF THE ANTI TAYLOR STATEMENTS, ADMITTED:

However, Taylor did testify that he was told U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland informed top Ukrainian aide Andriy Yermak weeks later that “security assistance money would not come until President Zelensky committed to pursue the Burisma investigation.”

Taylor testified that he learned of the Sondland-Yermak conversation during a phone call with National Security Council aide Tim Morrison.

“I was alarmed by what Mr. Morrison told me about the Sondland-Yermak conversation,” Taylor testified. “This was the first time I had heard that the security assistance not just the White House meeting — was conditioned on the investigations.”

So according to Taylor's testimony, the Ukraine government eventually was informed of the apparent reason for the aid delay.

That same day, Taylor said, he sent Sondland a text message asking if security assistance and a White House meeting "are conditioned on investigations," prompting Sondland to request Taylor call him.

"During that phone call, Ambassador Sondland told me that President Trump had told him that he wants President Zelenskyy to state publicly that Ukrain will investigate Burisma and alleged Ukrainian interference in the 2016 U.S. election," Taylor testified.

“By mid-July it was becoming clear to me that the meeting President Zelensky wanted was conditioned on the investigations of Burisma and alleged Ukrainian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections,” Taylor testified.

Trump Repeatedly Tried to Cut Anti-Corruption Programs

“The Trump administration has sought repeatedly to cut foreign aid programs tasked with combating corruption in Ukraine and elsewhere overseas, White House budget documents show, despite recent claims from President Trump and his administration that they have been singularly concerned with fighting corruption in Ukraine,” the Washington Post reports.

Ukraine Knew of Aid Freeze Before It Was Public
October 23, 2019 at 11:53 am EDT

New York Times: “To Democrats who say that President Trump’s decision to freeze a $391 million military aid package to Ukraine was intended to bully Ukraine’s leader into carrying out investigations for Mr. Trump’s political benefit, the president and his allies have had a simple response: There could not have been any quid pro quo because the Ukrainians did not know the assistance had been blocked.”

“But in fact, word of the aid freeze had gotten to high-level Ukrainian officials by the first week in August.”

“The problem was not a bureaucratic glitch, the Ukrainians were told then. To address it, they were advised, they should reach out to Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House chief of staff.”

Absolutely James...

What's going to happen when he is asked what proof he has that there was ever any agreement between Trump and Zelensky to pursue the investigations in exchange for the aid...

Considering the aid was provided and Zelensky never make any of his public statements or actually started the investigation.

Taylor will have to admit...

Sorry, but I have absolutely no evidence that any quid pro quo ever actually happened.

Because that is STILL the undeniable truth that you seem to just ignore.

(btw... that is called cognitive dissonance).

because, James... I can accept that Taylor stated these things and that a whole bunch of people (NOT NAMED TRUMP OR ZELENSKY) may be talking about these things

But I cannot get past the fact that the Aid WAS PROVIDED to Ukraine without anything associated with Biden, Burisma, or whatever being given in return.

All the rest is conjecture, rumor, talk, bluster, or whatever.

Doesn't matter that a bunch of people stated that someone was going to drive 100 miles an hour down HWY 3 this morning on his way to work.

The cop cannot pull him over if when that person passes him, they are actually going 55.

The actual behavior sort of HAS TO HAVE HAPPENED!!!

Democrats Found the ‘Smoking Gun’
October 23, 2019 at 12:47 pm EDT

Kurt Bardella:
“For eight years, House Republicans searched for a ‘smoking gun’ that could unravel the presidency of Barack Obama. They presided over hundreds of oversight hearings, issued more than 100 subpoenas, held the attorney general in contempt of Congress, and even formed a special select committee devoted exclusively to one investigation, on Benghazi.

“As someone who spent five years working alongside Republicans on the Oversight Committee, I can tell you that we never found a ‘smoking gun’ like the testimony that was provided yesterday from the senior U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, William Taylor.

“As I read through Taylor’s statement, which was given under oath, I couldn’t help but think to myself how my former Republican colleagues would have reacted if similar testimony had been given by a career diplomat during the Obama administration, especially during the Benghazi investigation, which produced 33 hearings in two years.

“The reality is that if Pompeo, Jordan, and House Republicans had received the kind of bombshell testimony we heard from Taylor yesterday, they would have immediately moved to impeach the president.”

Since he took office, President Donald Trump has frequently claimed a “deep state” is trying to sabotage his presidency, denouncing a supposed corrupt conspiracy in the U.S. government that he says is working in the shadows to undermine him. But ultimately, Articles of Impeachment against Trump may be drafted on the testimony of career bureaucrats, relying on routine skills built over decades of public service. It’s their credibility, expertise, and meticulous records that may prove the most damaging to a president who has long disparaged such discipline.

He's a graduate of West Point and a Vietnam veteran, who has served since Reagan was President.

The bullshit conspiracy theories are the talking points provided by the President to his pathological supporters like Scott A**hole.

GETTING DARKER AND DARKER

‘A Very Dark Moment’
October 23, 2019 at 1:25 pm EDT

A GOP source close to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) spoke to National Journal on the rapidly changing politics of impeachment:

“This is shaping up to be a very dark moment for the Trump White House.”

The source added: “It’s getting to be a harder choice for more people. Whether that’s enough for enough senators to take decisive action… every single move has been in the wrong direction for Trump.”

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

It is clear that, by this point, Taylor had become immensely concerned. On Aug. 16, after hearing from Volker that Ukrainian officials had asked that the United States submit an official request to reopen a Ukrainian investigation into Burisma, Taylor strongly advised that the United States “stay clear” and referred Volker to a relevant Justice Department official. After being told by Morrison that “the ‘President doesn’t want to provide any assistance at all’” to the Ukrainians, Taylor says he began preparing to resign. At the suggestion of then-National Security Advisor John Bolton, Taylor first sent a cable to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo “describing the ‘folly’ I saw in withholding military aid to Ukraine” and stating that he “could not and would not defend such a policy” on August 29. That same day, the story of the hold on security assistance broke, leading Ukrainian officials to contact Taylor for an explanation—something he was “embarrassed” he could not give them. As for his cable, Taylor “received no specific response[,]” other than a report that Pompeo had carried the cable into a related meeting at the White House.

Ukraine Leader Felt Trump Pressure Even Before Taking Office
October 23, 2019 at 1:23 pm EDT

“More than two months before the phone call that launched the impeachment inquiry into President Trump, Ukraine’s newly elected leader was already worried about pressure from the U.S. president to investigate his rival Joe Biden,” the AP reports.

“Volodymyr Zelenskiy gathered a small group of advisers on May 7 in Kyiv for a meeting that was supposed to be about his nation’s energy needs. Instead, the group spent most of the three-hour discussion talking about how to navigate the insistence from Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, for a probe and how to avoid becoming entangled in the American elections.”
