Exactly... why even attempt to deny it anymore?

It’s always been a “coup” attempt, so let’s stop shying away from that C-word

When Mark Zaid, a lawyer for the so-called “whistleblower,” tweeted on January 30, 2017, that the “#coup has started,” he was telling the truth.

On December 12, 2016, a month after the presidential election and a month before Trump’s Inauguration, I called the attempt to nullify the 2016 election a “coup” attempt. I don’t know if I was the first to use that C-word, but I was earlier than most.
The issue at that time was the interference with the Electoral College by intimidating Electors into changing their votes using the now-debunked claim of Russia collusion as the excuse, The one thing you must understand about the unfolding media-Democrat Electoral College coup attempt:
We are witnessing nothing short of an attempt to steal the election by some Democrats and a very supportive mainstream and leftwing media, by causing Electors in the Electoral College to go rogue and vote for Hillary, or at least not vote for Trump.

I watched that video of Donald Trump Jr coming on The View (which was entertaining to say the least) and it reminded me that many, many Democrats "still" feel that the election was somehow not legitimate and that Donald Trump was not duly elected. Once you allow yourself the fantasy that your preferred candidate had her rightful Presidency "stolen" from her, it becomes easy enough to justify whatever "coups" you want to engage in.

Obviously the crazies on The View are representative of these liberals, who rushed Don Jr en masse when he suggested that his dad was duly elected.  They pretty much had lock step opposition to him even making the statement (oh that's not true. The election was not legitimate). One would have thought (by now) that liberals would have moved past their paranoid fantasies of a stolen election, but many obviously have not.

All of these crazy fucked up "stolen election" arguments are the very pretense of why liberals believe that they have some sort of "right" to stop Trump from being President. Whether it be the attempts to get Electors to go rogue during the Electoral College vote, to demanding that someone step forward and engage the 25th amendment protocol, to demanding that this impeachment charade is a legitimate process meant to actually remove Trump for criminal conduct. Conduct that (of course) even Democrats concede is not criminal (by any standards other than House political standards - which they are allowed to make up as they go).

So yeah.. it's time to stop pretending that what liberals have been actively doing since the day after the election is something other than an all out attempt to stop Trump from being President. Which, btw, is the very definition of a coup!

Republicans Set Up 3 Fall Guys for Trump

“House Republicans’ latest plan to shield President Trump from impeachment is to focus on at least three deputies — Ambassador Gordon Sondland, Rudy Giuliani, and possibly acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney — who they say could have acted on their own to influence Ukraine policy,” the Washington Post reports.

“All three occupy a special place in the Ukraine narrative as the people in most direct contact with Trump. As Republicans argue that most of the testimony against Trump is based on faulty secondhand information, they are sowing doubts about whether Sondland, Giuliani and Mulvaney were actually representing the president or freelancing to pursue their own agendas. The GOP is effectively offering up the three to be fall guys.”

Mulvaney Subpoenaed to Testify In Impeachment Probe

“The House committees investigating President Trump and Ukraine issued a subpoena Thursday night for acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney to testify at 9 am on Friday as part of their impeachment inquiry,” two sources familiar tell Axios.

“Mulvaney is the highest-ranking White House official to be subpoenaed yet, and the midnight-hour move suggests the committees are reaching into the final phase of their private investigation as they prepare to take their inquiry public next week.”

Six days after Trump revealed highly classified information to two top Russian officials in May 2017, then-national security adviser H.R. McMaster sought to downplay it.

“He shares information in a way that is wholly appropriate. . . . The president wasn’t even aware, you know, where this information came from,” McMaster said. “He wasn’t briefed on the source or method of the information, either.”

Of course, this statement came less than 24 hours after McMaster disputed the original Washington Post story on Trump’s disclosure, only to have Trump admit in a tweet that he shared the information.

Impeachment Tests Ties Between Barr and Trump
November 8, 2019 at 7:05 am EST

New York Times: “For a while at least, he seemed to have found his Roy Cohn, a lawyer to defend him against his accusers and go after his enemies. But the relationship between President Trump and Attorney General William P. Barr may be growing more complicated with the rising threat of impeachment.

“Rather than publicly join the fight against House Democrats pursuing the president, Mr. Barr has remained out of the fray, resisting requests by intermediaries from Mr. Trump to go before the cameras to say no crime had been committed. While Mr. Barr exonerated the president in the spring at the end of the Russia investigation, he has been more reticent in the current matter.

“The reluctance hints at a new distance between the two men.”

No, Clinton didn't start the birther thing.

Despite what Trump says, the 2008 Clinton campaign and the candidate herself never trafficked in the rumors.

09/16/2016 03:55 PM EDT Updated 09/16/2016 04:24 PM EDT

After years of denying the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s presidency, it was only in the midst of his own presidential campaign that Donald Trump began falsely claiming Hillary Clinton was the true progenitor of the “birther” conspiracy theory claiming Obama was not born in the United States.

But that’s swapping one discredited claim for another. Numerous fact checks, reports and interviews — in 2008 and 2011, when Trump revived the controversy — revealed that although some Clinton supporters circulated rumors about Obama’s citizenship, the campaign and Clinton herself never trafficked in it.

“There has never been evidence that Clinton or her campaign started the birther rumors,” said Ben Smith, editor in chief of BuzzFeed, who as a POLITICO reporter in 2011 linked the origin of the “birther” movement to a fringe politician in Illinois. Some hardcore Clinton backers circulated the rumors in 2008, but the campaign itself steered clear.

“As we reported, some of her supporters flirted with the idea in 2008 — but it has its origins in the fever swamps beginning in Illinois in 2004,” he said.

Purported media fact-checkers are “refuting” Donald Trump’s debate claim that the 2008 Hillary Clinton campaign birtherized Barack Obama without responding to his specifics.

It is impossible to tell from the CNN.com, NBCNews.com and ABCNews.com and New York Times fact check items on Trump’s exchange with moderator Lester Holt that he singled out key Hillary advisor Sidney Blumenthal for peddling the rumor to a Washington reporter in 2008.

Holt asked Trump what “took you so long” to finally acknowledge Barack Obama was born in the United States.

Trump replied, “I’ll tell you very — well, just very simple to say. Sidney Blumenthal works for the campaign and a close, very close friend of Secretary Clinton. And her campaign manager, Patti Doyle, went to — during the campaign, her campaign against President Obama, fought very hard. And you can go look it up, and you can check it out.

“And if you look at CNN this past week, Patti Solis Doyle was on Wolf Blitzer saying that this happened. Blumenthal sent McClatchy, highly respected reporter at McClatchy, to Kenya to find out about it. They were pressing it very hard. She failed to get the birth certificate. When I got involved, I didn’t fail. I got him to give the birth certificate. So I’m satisfied with it. And I’ll tell you why I’m satisfied with it.”

NBC News.com completely omitted the crucial Blumenthal reference from its fact-check item. “Trump said Clinton and her campaign started the ‘birther’ movement” but “they didn’t.”

Actually, he did not expressly say Clinton and her campaign started it; he merely noted how they allegedly pushed it. The misleading summation linked to a Politifact round-up of the issue. It noted that a Clinton campaign volunteer, later fired, circulated an email claiming Obama was born in Kenya.

But the Poltifact story completely omitted new claims by former McClatchy Washington Bureau chief James Asher that in 2008, Hillary Clinton’s top advisor Sidney Blumenthal convinced him to send a reporter to Kenya to investigate the possibility that Obama was born there.

“As we reported, some of her supporters flirted with the idea in 2008 — but it has its origins in the fever swamps beginning in Illinois in 2004,” he said.

In fact, birtherism, as it’s been called, reportedly began with innuendo by serial Illinois political candidate Andy Martin, who painted Obama as a closet Muslim in 2004. That spiraled into a concerted effort by conspiracy theorists to raise doubts about Obama’s birthplace and religion — and essentially paint him as un-American.

Martin, who briefly launched a little-noticed presidential campaign last year, has disavowed the movement he’s often credited with starting, though he still foments similarly discredited doubts about Obama’s religion.

Clinton’s 2008 hands are recoiling at Trump’s revisionism about their role in propagating the lie about Obama’s citizenship. “The suggestion that the Hillary campaign was pushing birtherism in 2008 is bunk. It's fiction,” said Phil Singer, who was Clinton’s 2008 press secretary.

The New York City Bar Association on Wednesday publicly called on U.S. Attorney General William Barr to immediately recuse himself from any further Department of Justice processes related to the ongoing investigation into the Trump administration's controversial dealings with Ukraine.

In a statement by the NYCBA, which boasts nearly 25,000 lawyers and law school members in the major metropolis, the association said that by failing to recuse up to this point Barr has "undermined" his "unique role in safeguarding the rule of law" and his sworn duty to the U.S. Constitution.

"To help remedy that failure," reads the statement, "the New York City Bar Association urges that Mr. Barr recuse himself from any ongoing or future review by DOJ of Ukraine-related issues in which Mr. Barr is allegedly involved. Why Is Christopher Steele Still a Thing?
The ex-spy and infamous “dossier” author posits yet another elaborate theory of foreign infiltration

Steele first appeared in connection with the Trump story as a “well-placed Western intelligence source” in a 2016 Yahoo News article by Michael Isikoff. The piece claimed a Trump aide named Carter Page was discussing the lifting of sanctions with Rosneft chief Igor Sechin.
Christopher Steele became famous in the United States as the author of a “dossier” that claimed Russians had been “cultivating, supporting, and assisting” Donald Trump “for at least 5 years.”

Now Steele is back, claiming that the Russians have been cultivating the Tories and Boris Johnson for… five years.

You can’t make this stuff up. The only thing comparable would be Ahmed Chalabi lobbying for a sequel invasion after the WMD hunt in Iraq came up empty, and having the same humiliated media figures and politicians reach for pom-poms all over again.

Steele, in fact, was a private opposition researcher hired by the “premium research” firm Fusion-GPS, on behalf of the Hillary Clinton campaign. The Yahoo story came out on September 23, 2016; it would be over a year before Steele’s status as a paid Clinton researcher would be made public.

After Isikoff’s piece came out, the Clinton campaign released a statement about how it was “chilling” to learn that “U.S. intelligence officials” were “conducting a probe into suspected meetings between Trump’s foreign policy adviser Carter Page and members of Putin’s inner circle.”

If the merry-go-round trick of commenting gravely about a story you yourself planted sounds familiar

Trump called it “a very big deal celebrating the end of the war.”

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was cited by RIA news agency as saying on Thursday that Putin’s invitation to his U.S. counterpart to attend Victory Day in Moscow had been “received with interest,” but there had not yet been any reply from the White House.

While U.S.-Russia relations have hit a low point after American intelligence agencies concluded that Moscow interfered in the 2016 presidential election to help Trump, the two leaders have maintained what appears to be a good relationship.

CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) – Questions surrounding Jeffrey Epstein's apparent suicide have popped up everywhere lately, and now they have even made their way to the bottom of a beer can.

Printed on the bottom of the cans sold at Tatical Ops Brewing in Fresno is the message, "2019/11/06 EPSTEIN DIDNT KILL HIMSELF."

Manager Carlos Tovar said he first thought of the idea about a week ago.

The idea came to him because the question of if Jeffrey Epstein actually committed suicide is "a big thing right now."

"Epstein didn't kill himself" memes have taken social media and the internet by storm since his death was first reported.

The brewery will only be releasing one batch of the cans, about 54 packs worth.

The message can be found printed underneath blue cans of their Basher Oatmeal Stout.

The cans are already available for purchase, you can pick up a pack after 4 p.m., which is when the business opens for the day.

Vindman Said ‘No Doubt’ of Quid Pro Quo
November 8, 2019 at 1:26 pm EST

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a Ukraine expert who listened to President Trump’s July call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said in his House testimony “there was no doubt” that Trump was seeking political investigations of political rivals, the Washington Post reports.

Said Vidnman: “It was a demand for him to fulfill his — fulfill this particular prerequisite in order to get the meeting.”

oh yeah... vindman.

he's the fucking genius who said trump is attempting to subvert US foreign policy.

foreign policy that is, in fact, established by the POTUS himself.

LOL. get fucked.

Trump again called for the unmasking of the whistleblower, whose identity is protected by federal law, and suggested that person be sued “for treason."
_______________

Lots of luck suing for treason someone who only reported that he/she became disturbed by hearing what Trump's own inner circle was saying about their concern regarding the phone call (which some of them sought to hide from the public).

Especially since a number of those in the inner circle are corroborating that Trump was indeed trying for a quid pro quo both before and after the call.

let's go to the videotape -

REPORTER: The whistleblower laws protect the whistleblower. You know it's illegal to out a whistleblower?

SEN. RAND PAUL: Actually, you see you've got that wrong too.

REPORTER: No, we don't.

RAND PAUL: You should work on the facts. The whistleblower statute protects the whistleblower from having his name revealed by the inspector general. Even The New York Times admits that no one else is under any legal obligation.

The other point, and you need to be really careful if you really are interested in the news, is the whistleblower actually is a material witness completely separate from being a whistleblower because he worked for Joe Biden at the same time Hunter Biden was receiving $50,000 per month. So the investigation into the corruption of Hunter Biden involves this whistleblower because he was there at the time.

Did he bring up the conflict of interest? Was there a discussion of this? What was his involvement with the relationship between Joe Biden and the prosecutor? There are a lot of questions the whistleblower has to answer.

Bolton Knows of ‘Many Relevant Meetings’ on Ukraine

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton’s lawyer told lawmakers he has knowledge of “many relevant meetings and conversations” connected to the Ukraine pressure campaign that House impeachment investigators DO NOT YET KNOW ABOUT, the New York Times reports.

Sure James...

We just go around and around and around and around and around in circles...

Meanwhile, support for impeachment continues to go "down" the more people hear?

Why do you suppose that it?

I know it's impossible for you to consider any perspectives that do not associate with politicalwire, politico, WaPo or the NYT...

But have you actually taken seriously the main point that people do not believe that "Quid Pro Quo" is impeachable... and that the more it appears that Democrats are just beating that same "dead horse" without coming up with something new... the more and more people are going to tire of it???

In other words... have you considered that this isn't about "proving" anything? That regardless of how many people step forward and demand whatever it is that they want to demand... that at the end of the day the Ukrainians got their aid, nobody was investigated... and even had Ukraine had agreed to investigate, that people don't see the condition as "illegal"?

Or are you a block of wood?

BREAKING: Two White House officials told lawmakers the "blatant" push for politically motivated investigations from President Donald J. Trump left "no ambiguity" what the Ukrainians needed to do to secure a highly sought meeting — and the effort was coordinated by acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, according to deposition transcripts

The former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg upended the 2020 Presidential race on Friday by offering Donald J. Trump ten billion dollars to leave the White House by the end of the day.

“I will deposit ten billion dollars into your account in Moscow, Riyadh, or wherever you do your banking these days,” Bloomberg announced. “All you have to do is go.”

In addition to the ten-billion-dollar offer, Bloomberg told Trump that he would cover the moving expenses of Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Kellyanne Conway, and any other associates “that you haven’t already gotten rid of.”

On Capitol Hill, congressional Democrats expressed sadness that Bloomberg’s offer, if successful, would eliminate the need for impeachment, which many of them had been looking forward to.

But Representative Adam Schiff of California struck a more philosophical note. “If ten billion dollars gets rid of Donald Trump, that’s a quid pro quo I’m okay with,” he said.

If the impeachment investigation of President Donald Trump were a play, the first act would now close.

That's because, starting Wednesday, we will begin to hear witnesses in the inquiry testifying publicly. Which will be a MAJOR change from the release of transcripts from closed-door interviews that have dominated the conversation around impeachment to date.

Those transcripts have provided a more robust picture of the goings-on in the White House both before and after that fateful July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. And that picture makes a few things very clear:

1. Several senior officials were convinced the call was inappropriate from the get-go.
2. Trump personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney were knee-deep in the attempts to convince (coerce?) Ukraine to open investigations into Joe and Hunter Biden as well as the whereabouts of the hacked Democratic National Committee server.
3. US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland openly floated a quid pro quo -- security aid for opening investigations -- in a conversation with a top Ukrainian official.

The truth is, however, wrapping your arms around these lengthy -- and, at times, hard to follow -- transcripts is no easy task. And that means that for most people outside the world of politics, the real impeachment inquiry will begin next week.

We are a visual people. Images have a power to move us that words on a page often do not. (He says as someone who writes for a living.) The public hearings, then, are the truly high-stakes fight here. There will be moments from each day of testimony, moments that get played (and replayed) on cable TV. Moments that will come to define not just a witness but the proceedings more broadly.

Get ready.

The Point: Act 1 is over. And Act 2 is where all the major drama happens.
