As stated before, Biden can probably afford to lose one or the other, or even both if the margins are very close. But he cannot afford to get blown out in both Iowa and New Hampshire. Right now Biden is "barely" holding on to third place in Iowa, and Warren has surged past him in New Hampshire.
If he were to lose by double digits (or thereabouts) and fall down to 3rd or 4th place in either state, the momentum would certainly be a problem. Primary seasons are all about expectations, momentum, and to a large degree controlling the narrative.
Much of American (who sees Biden as the frontrunner today) would be surprised if he falters in early states. Biden (as much as any candidate in recent times) is the frontrunner because he is known as the frontrunner. I don't believe there is necessarily a "good" reason for this status.
Furthermore, Biden has struggled in the spotlight, and we have not had a debate in some time now. Things have been quiet and he has stayed out of view... yet still appears to be dropping. Perhaps it is the fact that Hunter, Burisma, and Joe himself keep coming up in the impeachment hearings. But if that is the case, then Quid Pro Joe will be in big trouble if impeachment goes to the Senate for Trial.

The "entire" argument being made is that there is something corrupt about the idea of investigating Burisma Holdings.
You cannot make such an allegation and then say that the accused has no ability to defend against those allegations. Democrats cannot just demand such a thing to be admitted into a court as "fact" just because they say so.

The survey also finds that 1 in 4 Americans, 25%, think that Trump did nothing wrong.
Still, nearly 1 in 3, 32%, say they made up their minds about impeaching the president before the news broke about Trump’s July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in which Trump urged his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

Donald Trump has claimed he will “strongly consider” testifying to Congress in the ongoing impeachment inquiry to remove him.
He tweeted: “Our Crazy, Do Nothing (where’s USMCA, infrastructure, lower drug pricing & much more?) Speaker of the House, Nervous Nancy Pelosi, who is petrified by her Radical Left knowing she will soon be gone (they & Fake News Media are her BOSS), suggested on Sunday’s DEFACE THE NATION....

Trump turns everyone into trash.
It seems like every story you read about Secretary of State Mike Pompeo always includes the sentence that he graduated “first in his class” from West Point. That is not a small achievement. But it is even more impressive in Pompeo’s case when you consider that he finished No. 1 even though he must have flunked all his courses on ethics and leadership. I guess he was really good in math.
I say that because Pompeo has just violated one of the cardinal rules of American military ethics and command: You look out for your soldiers, you don’t leave your wounded on the battlefield and you certainly don’t stand mute when you know a junior officer is being railroaded by a more senior commander, if not outright shot in her back.
The classes on ethics and leadership at West Point would have taught all of that. I can only assume Pompeo failed or skipped them all when you observe his cowardly, slimy behavior as the leader of the State Department. I would never, ever, ever want to be in a trench with that man. Attention all U.S. diplomats: Watch your own backs, because Pompeo won’t be.

In the closed-door deposition Saturday, we once again heard a consistent theme damaging to the Democrats’ impeachment effort: 1) the suspension of aid to Ukraine was always temporary, and 2) it was not for any political consideration.

If I were one of those OFFICIALS, facing possible jail time for perjury, I would want simply to TELL THE TRUTH.
Something Trump does NOT want them to do. That would be "disloyal."
SO, he's trying to keep them from testifying and of course he would NEVER have the courage to testify himself and tell, as Pelosi said, whatever "truth" he wants to tell.
