Well that was fun... now let's get back to work!

This guy just wrecked the entire justification for impeachment!

There are and always have been conditionality placed on our sovereign loan guarantees for Ukraine. Conditions include anti-corruption reforms, as well as meeting larger stability goals and social safety nets. The International Monetary Fund does the same thing. Congress and the executive branch work together to put conditionality on some security assistance in the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.”
“The pervasive and longstanding problem of corruption in Ukraine included exposure to a situation involving the energy company Burisma,” said Kent. “The primary concern of the U.S. government since 2014 was Burisma’s owner, Mykola Zlochevsky, whose frozen assets abroad we had attempted to recover on Ukraine’s behalf.”
Kent, a diplomat in the State Department, noted that in 2015, he raised concerns to then-Vice President Joe Biden when Hunter, his son, had was named to a position on the board of the natural gas firm. The elder Biden was acting as the chief diplomat to Ukraine at the time.
“In February 2015, I raised my concern that Hunter Biden’s status as a board member could create the perception of a conflict of interest,” said Kent.

So this is a guy who has been working with US/Ukraine relations for some time. He suggests:

  • That conditions have always been a part of aid to Ukraine! That proves factually that Quid Pro Quo is not bribery and not a crime.
  • That an ongoing probe of corruption (including Burisma) was in place before Trump was even President. This suggests that continuing these investigations or investigating why these investigations stopped is a valid policy/concern.
  • That there was ongoing concerns (including his own) about Hunter Biden sitting on this board prior to Trump even being President. This suggests that Hunter Biden needs to answer questions and that it is in the Nation's best interest to understand what he was doing sitting on the board of Burisma!

Sorry... but there is literally nothing left of this impeachment.

Mark Meadows went ballistic during the first break of the meeting today. I watched it live.

“I think what happens is when we start to look at the facts, everybody has their impression of what truth is. Just like you as reporters have your impression of what the truth is. The ultimate judge will be the American people, and I think most of them will see what I’m seeing in the room, reporters and people in the audience yawning because this is all about a policy difference between the president of the United States and a few people in the State Department.”

The use of the Latin language quid Pro quo is an attempted to distract attention from the high crime and misdemeanor charges of bribery and extortion.

The Chairman Scihff made it clear that bribery and extortion are being investigated by the house committee.

"The use of the Latin language quid Pro quo is an attempted to distract"

Shift the goal posts, keep going with your "Callapsable Impeachment".

Taylor conversation with the sinking Schiff , is all heresay.

Good point...

If this (Taylor) was a person who otherwise agreed with the President's positions, then possibly it would carry weight. But the problem is that it all looks partisan when the issue isn't just what they believe he did "wrong" - but that they make a point of disagreeing with everything he did. Makes them look like just Anti-Trumpers... Something EVERY TRUMP SUPPORTER will simply use to ignore EVERYTHING he says.

Meanwhile Kent was a horrible witness for the Democrats and I suspect many others will fall just as short. Democrats needed to catch an inside royal flush straight, and got the two of diamonds instead.

But even what Trump Supporters or Democrats thing... doesn't matter.

What matters is that this isn't going to change the GOP Senators who will vote to acquit the President should it go to trial. The only "new" things we have learned are the things that the Democrats have been hiding (like the rest of Kent's testimony).

It's a loser!
