The LAW passed by CONGRESS provides the executive branch with the authority to set terms and conditions for financial aid. It neither illegal or unusual for the executive branch to ask for something in return for aid, and contrary to the rhetoric, the President doesn't have to "follow the deadline". If the President decides not to provide approved aid by the end of the fiscal year, the aid is then invalid and Congress would have to approve it again.
For instance... when Quid Pro Joe asked the government of Ukraine to fire a prosecutor (for whatever reasons) or they would not get the aid, the President fired the Prosecutor General and the aid was released. That was classic "Quid Pro Quo". Open and obvious.
According to YOUR own logic, Biden and the Obama Administration broke some sort of law by asking for something in return for the Aid... only it wasn't illegal by "real" standards.
Perhaps if you demanded that Joe Biden step out of the race for tying "Quid Pro Quo" to foreign aid... you might have a sliver of credibility for your argument that it's illegal if Trump does it.

Trump is also on the cusp of flipping the Second Circuit of Appeals (which covers New York, Vermont, and Connecticut) and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals (which covers Georgia, Florida, and Alabama). Trump has even made notable gains on the notoriously liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (which covers Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands) where there are now 16 Democrat-appointed judges and 12 Republican-appointed judges with one vacancy.

I have been in agreement with Andrew McCarthy, Alan Dershowitz, and plenty of others from the start.
The LAW passed by CONGRESS provides the executive branch with the authority to set terms and conditions for financial aid. It neither illegal or unusual for the executive branch to ask for something in return for aid, and contrary to the rhetoric, the President doesn't have to "follow the deadline". If the President decides not to provide approved aid by the end of the fiscal year, the aid is then invalid and Congress would have to approve it again.
For instance... when Quid Pro Joe asked the government of Ukraine to fire a prosecutor (for whatever reasons) or they would not get the aid, the President fired the Prosecutor General and the aid was released. That was classic "Quid Pro Quo". Open and obvious.
According to YOUR own logic, Biden and the Obama Administration broke some sort of law by asking for something in return for the Aid... only it wasn't illegal by "real" standards.
Perhaps if you demanded that Joe Biden step out of the race for tying "Quid Pro Quo" to foreign aid... you might have a sliver of credibility for your argument that it's illegal if Trump does it.
But at the end of the day. Biden and Obama "got" the prosecutor general fired. Then they released the aid. Trump didn't actually get what those (behind the scenes) claim he asked for. So logically, the criminal action was much, much, much worse in regards to what Biden did.
