Big rumor?

Rumor has it that McConnell and some of the more "moderate" members of the Senate (eg: Romney, Collins, Murkowski) are working out some behind the scenes agreements, where if Mitch can keep the right flank of the Party under control, that you will see a unified GOP front throughout the removal hearings.

In other words, no Hunter Biden, no Adam Schiff, and no political grandstanding. Just a straight ahead trial like procedure where things move along quickly and professionally. The quicker the trial and the less "circus" it turns into, the better for everyone involved. That way McConnell keeps everyone (including the moderates) on board.

The other option is to turn it into a circus, embarrass Democrats, likely win some points with the Party base, but risk losing two or three members on the final vote.

Romney and Murkowski are going to vote how they are going to vote. Collins was courageous on the Kavanaugh vote so I would give her a pass in a tight race.

There no way Republicans would not want a pound of flesh. No after the way the Democrats ran impeachment.
