Is Bloomberg already a top tier candidate?

Michael Bloomberg has entered the Democratic race with a bang. At least relative to "most" of the candidates running for President on the Democratic side. In the past two polls, his support has been 5% and 6%. While that doesn't appear to be too terribly impressive, it's enough to put him firmly within the top five and he would be nipping at the heels of Pete Buttigieg (who was at 9% in both those two polls).

Meanwhile, it would appear that several Democrats are just not gaining any traction. Steyer, Bennett, Gabbard, Castro, and Booker have all failed to garner more than 2% in any recent national poll. Klobuchar has a couple of 3% to her credit, but still is flailing. Harris and Yang are doing inconsistently slightly better. But these are candidates that have been running for a while. Bloomberg is new on the scene and it's sort of amazing how he has bypassed so many of these candidates.

This is simply not a very strong Democratic field. It seems like there is a flavor of the month, that person comes into the spotlight, people do not like what they see, then they falter. Buttigieg actually appears to be on his second go round as the flavor of the month. One has to believe that the same things that turned people away the first time, will do the same a second time. At the end of the day he is a less than likable smug little guy with no practical experience beyond being a Mayor.

All of this goes back to being good news for Slow Joe Biden, who has remained fairly consistently between 25% and 30% (giver or take a percent or two). But the question is whether or not that sort of consistent minority support will be enough to get him the actual nomination, especially considering what a disaster he continues to be on the campaign trail.
