I guess Ch overlooked the story in the last part of Matthew chapter 2 according to which Mary and Joseph had to escape from Bethlehem and go to Egypt with the baby in order to avoid the wrath of King Herod who, wanting to kill the Magi-announced newborn "King of the Jews," killed all the two year old or younger male babies of Bethlehem in an attempt to kill Jesus.
Mary and Joseph lived in Egypt until the death of Herod and even then, Matthew says, they could not return to Bethlehem because Herod's cruel son Archelaus had ascended to throne, and so they went north and ended up in Nazareth where Jesus grew up.

On November 15, President Donald Trump granted clemency to three members of the military convicted or charged with war crimes — a controversial move that was at odds with those at the Pentagon.
One of those men was Navy SEAL Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, who had his rank restored by the president after being demoted by the Navy to petty officer 1st class.
The latest episode of The New York Times' show "The Weekly," show members of SEAL Team 7 who reported Gallagher talking to investigators about him in shocking and sometimes emotional interviews.
Navy SEAL Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher was accused of killing a teenage ISIS fighter in US custody in Iraq and of shooting at Iraqi civilians.
In July 2019, a jury acquitted Gallagher of all counts but one in an extraordinary trial that saw prosecutorial interference and intervention by Trump.
He was found guilty of posing with the body of the dead ISIS fighter, and Trump's action last month restored Gallagher's rank after the Navy court demoted him to petty officer 1st class.
In the latest episode of The New York Times' show "The Weekly," videos show members of SEAL Team 7 talking to investigators about Gallagher in shocking and sometimes emotional interviews.
"The guy is freaking evil, man," Special Operator First Class Craig Miller says in the video.

James - we both know that historians do not believe that King Herod was out to kill the baby Jesus. The story of children being massacred by Herod or anyone fleeing was not corroborated by other historians or by other Gospels.
We also know that Mary and Joseph were living in Nazareth when Jesus was conceived, "traveled" to Bethlehem like many people, and by all historical accounts he was grew up in Nazareth.
Either way, there were no "borders" back in the day and most everything was ruled by the Romans. They were not refugees or immigrants. They settled and lived in exactly the same place (Nazareth) they started from.
