“The Democratic majority came into power looking to avoid this at all costs. And here we are.
"Trump, who once said he would not do business with the Democrats if they were investigating him, is now getting impeached and will get his top trade deal passed at the same time.
"Trump won in 2016 in part because he dumped all over NAFTA. Now he’s just cut a new deal that experts say is not dissimilar to NAFTA.
“There’s a lot of talk about how all of this will affect the election.
"Fair enough — but the election is 11 months away. A lot will happen between now and then.
"Anyone who tells you they know how the politics of all this will play in 2020 is selling you something.”

Obama gave Pearson Publishing $350 million to create Commoncore text and Pearson gave Obama a $65 million dollar book deal in return.
It's not the first time Obama has done things like this, either. IWB notes that Obama's net neutrality stance benefited Netflix, and surprise, surprise, he got a lucrative deal with Netflix, too.

Every time dems accuse Republicans of doing something it turns out they actually did it themselves.
Flashback Quote of the Day
“For quite long periods, at any rate, people can remain undisturbed by obvious lies, either because they simply forget what is said from day to day or because they are under such a constant propaganda bombardment that they become anaesthetized to the whole business.”

McConnell and Trump Differ on Impeachment Strategy
December 10, 2019 at 1:34 pm EST
CNN:
“In conversations with the White House, the Kentucky Republican has made clear he hopes to end the trial as soon as he can, an effort to both get impeachment off his lap and protect his conference from potentially damaging votes should the process break out into partisan warfare.
"That will include a continuous whip count until McConnell feels he has the votes to acquit the President and end the show. He has even floated a 10-day minimum during these talks.”
“But the show is exactly what Trump wants. He’s made clear to advisers privately that rather than end the trial as quickly as possible, he is hoping for a dramatic event, according to two people familiar with his thinking. He wants Hunter Biden, Rep. Adam Schiff and the whistleblower to testify. He wants the witnesses to be live, not clips of taped depositions. And he’s hoping to turn it into a spectacle, which he thinks is his best chance to hurt Democrats in the election.”
Republicans Poised to Call No Witnesses In Senate Trial
December 10, 2019 at 2:29 pm EST
Washington Examiner:
“Senate Republicans do not expect to call witnesses President Trump might want to hear from most in an impeachment trial, OH NO! TRUMP WON'T LIKE THAT!!!! conceding there are not the votes to summon key figures such as Hunter Biden and the unidentified government whistleblower whose complaint sparked the process.
“Senate impeachment rules require a majority vote to call witnesses, and with just two out of 53 votes to spare, there is no ‘appetite’ among Republicans to pursue testimony from people that Democrats blocked Republicans from subpoenaing during the House investigation. Indeed, Republicans might forgo calling witnesses altogether, OH NO! saying minds are made up on Trump’s guilt or innocence and that testimony at trial on the Senate floor would draw out the proceedings unnecessarily.”

Said Giuliani: “He wants me to do it. I’m working on pulling it together and hope to have it done by the end of the week.”

With the IG Report out, the bigger picture.
1) Team Mueller (Weissmann, Van Grack, etc.) pursued an obstruction case against Trump - when they knew the underlying investigation was based on lies, omissions, and altered evidence.
2) IG was wrong to say there was no evidence of "bias" or "intentional misconduct"
Powerful circumstantial evidence: all these "failures" worked to further the goal of FISA renewals.
3) Consider whether Halper assisted w/ (re)opening the Flynn/Russia investigation.
Halper met w/ FBI on 8/11/16 - where he said "he had been previously acquainted w/ Flynn"
4) The predication for the Flynn/Russia investigation:
Flynn's December 2015 travel to attend the RT Gala in Moscow - after which he fully debriefed the US Govt.
[Halper's accusations that Flynn was having an affair w/ a Russian spy (@RealSLokhova) may also be part of this]
We reached out to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) for comment on the IG Report's findings of FBI/DOJ lies and misconduct.
"The court does not have a comment."
The Flynn CI/FARA (Russia) case was opened on 8/16/16
IG Report Confirms Schiff FISA Memo Media Praised Was Riddled With Lies
The new inspector general report on FISA abuse settles the debate between Republicans and Democrats on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Both groups put out memos about the Department of Justice’s efforts to secure a warrant to wiretap Carter Page.
At the time of their release, the media praised Democrat Adam Schiff and his memo and vilified Republican Devin Nunes and his memo. Nearly two years later, the inspector general’s report vindicates the Nunes memo while showing that the Schiff memo was riddled with lies and false statements.

FAKE NEWS in bed with the CORRUPT OBAMA ADMINISTRATION
even fake news is now reporting on this
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/former-boeing-manager-
Pierson said he first noticed signs of trouble in the plant in late 2017. Boeing was pushing to increase the production of airplanes at Renton from 47 to 52.
More planes mean more parts, and some of Boeing’s suppliers began struggling to meet the demand, Pierson said.
The delay in parts caused a slowdown in production that had to be made up. But the Renton plant didn’t have the manpower, Pierson said.
As a result, overtime hours piled up. Less than 10% of the planes were being delivered on time during this period, Pierson said, prompting senior managers to push workers to produce more, faster. Pierson said workers were putting in consecutive 50- to 60-hour work weeks without taking days off.
“I know people that worked more than five weeks in a row,” Pierson said, adding that he heard reports of some employees going eight weeks without a day off.
The supply chain delays, coupled with the tremendous time pressures, led to the factory producing 737 Max aircraft out of sequence, Pierson said. Airplanes are marvels of design and engineering. Every part serves a specific purpose and every plane is supposed to be assembled according to a specific plan.
But at the Boeing plant in Renton, Pierson said, some of the steps were being performed at places and times different than the initial plans. He grew increasingly concerned that a corner might be cut or a crucial step overlooked.
"For the airplane, you want to build it a certain way," Pierson said. "I don't know of any work that's more detailed."
He likened out-of-sequence work to building a house and deciding after the floors were put down to rip them up to finish electrical and plumbing work.
Pierson said the problems were compounded by other management decisions that he said prioritized speed over safety.
Company executives canceled the daily meetings among individual teams that Pierson considered crucial to sharing information between shifts, he said. Boeing leadership replaced these “tiered” meetings with a larger meeting in which managers were often put on the spot to answer why they weren’t hitting production goals.
By May of 2018, the situation was spiraling out of control, Pierson said. No matter how many hours people worked, they struggled to keep up with the push to complete more than 50 airplanes a month.
“It just became full speed out of control," Pierson said. "The sheer volume was just overwhelming.”
Pierson wrote the email to Campbell a month later.
The pair also spoke in person. During the meeting July 18, Pierson said he ticked off a series of problems at the plant and repeated his position that it should be shut down for a limited window of time.
Pierson said Campbell insisted that wasn’t possible. “I kind of got mad and said, ‘You know, I've seen military operations shut down for a lot less,’” Pierson recalled.
Pierson said he was stunned by Campbell’s reply. “He said, ‘Well, the military’s not a profit-making enterprise,'” Pierson said.
Campbell, who has since retired, could not be reached for comment.
Alarmed by his experience, Pierson decided to retire in August 2018. “I felt like I was abandoning the Titanic,” he said.
Lion Air went down near Indonesia two months later. “As soon as I heard it was a Max, my stomach just dropped,” Pierson said. “I knew a Max is a plane that's only been in service for a year or so. And I knew it had to be made some time in that time frame.”
Pierson said he was lying in bed when he heard the news that a second Boeing 737 Max went down in Ethiopia in March 2019. “I actually screamed and my wife woke up,” he said. “I just couldn’t believe it.”
Just three weeks earlier, he had written to the Boeing board of directors imploring them to take action and saying he didn’t want to wake up one morning to the news of another crash.

A federal judge in El Paso on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration’s plan to pay for border barrier construction with $3.6 billion in military funds, ruling that the administration does not have the authority to divert money appropriated by Congress for a different purpose.
The Trump administration was planning to use those funds to build 175 miles of steel barriers, and the court’s permanent injunction casts new doubt on Trump’s pledge to erect 450 linear miles of fencing by the end of next year.
District Court Judge David Briones, a Bill Clinton appointee, said in his ruling that the administration’s attempt to reprogram military construction funds by emergency proclamation was unlawful and that the plaintiffs in the case were entitled to a permanent injunction halting the government.

“TREASON?” Those seven letters say it all. To the president, criticism is treasonous. I find this to be a very un-American position. Former president Theodore Roosevelt argued that it was treacherous not to criticize the nation’s chief executive, as long as it was honest criticism. “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public,” he wrote. “Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or anyone else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about anyone else.” We do not owe the president our silence. We owe him the truth.
In summer 2018, he ordered staff to revoke the security clearances of former intelligence officials who disagreed with him, and he directed the White House press secretary to announce that the credentials of former CIA director John Brennan, a frequent administration critic, would in fact be rescinded. What would we have said if his predecessor, President Barack Obama, had done the same? Only a few weeks later, in reference to the op-ed, he demanded that “the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her [the author] over to the government at once!” Trump went further and launched a search effort using taxpayer dollars and official government resources to draw up a short list of people considered potential suspects, before the effort fizzled out for lack of leads. It was Trumpian in every way, a pointless and emotion-driven exercise. He has suggested worse be done to his critics. In September 2019, the president issued a veiled threat against an intelligence community employee who reported the president for inappropriately coaxing a foreign government to investigate one of his political opponents. Trump said the employee was “close to a spy.” He continued, “You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart, right? The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now.” The implicit suggestion was that the whistleblower should be hanged. Such behavior is unbecoming of a president and the presidency. To anyone with even a modest reverence for the principle of free speech, it is also morally wrong. The nation’s chief executive should never under any circumstances use his office and its extraordinary powers to seek revenge against whistleblowers and political opponents. These are actions we would expect from tin-pot dictators in repressive countries and which we would openly decry as a nation. Yet it is happening in real time here at home, setting a chilling precedent for the use of executive authority.
Judge Blocks Trump’s Attempt to Divert Funds for Wall

The day began like any other in the Trump administration: with a self-inflicted crisis. It was Wednesday, December 19, 2018, and the White House was dealing with a communications problem. The State Department had decided to unveil an economic development program in Latin America the day before, which experts believed would reduce violence and instability in the region. There was one catch. The president was on the brink of scrapping it. He reportedly thought it was too expensive and threatened to kill the deal by tweet. Its architects panicked about whether the president was going to create a diplomatic row. As it often does, the main show turned out to be a sideshow. The president hadn’t yet come down from the residence to the Oval Office. We all knew why. It was prime tweeting hour, and at 9:29 a.m., he fired off a missive from the executive mansion: “We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency.” Within minutes, news broke that the president had decided to withdraw. He later tweeted: “After historic victories against ISIS, it’s time to bring our great young people home!” The announcement reverberated across Washington. It was contrary to what had been recommended to him. From the top Pentagon officials to leaders of the intelligence community, most of the president’s top advisors cautioned against arbitrarily pulling the roughly two thousand US troops out of Syria. ISIS was still a potent threat, he was told, and America’s exit would allow the group to reconstitute and plot more deadly attacks. An early pullout would also cede the area to a dictator who used chemical weapons on his own people, to the anti-American Iranian regime that was expanding its reach in the region, and to Russia. What’s more, it would probably result in the slaughter of Kurdish forces who had helped us go after terrorists. In every way, withdrawal would damage US security interests.
The president was unmoved. Rather than convene his national security team to discuss options, he bucked them with a tweet. “People are going to fucking die because of this,” a top aide angrily
"Democrats have decided to limit their impeachment articles to Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress."
No , Really That's it? There has to be more. is this just phase 1 of the Impeachment role out?
Even Jonathan Turkey is hammering the news media for the way they're falsely reporting the IG report.

Majority of voters don’t want Trump impeached, removed from office: poll
A majority of voters now oppose impeaching and ousting President Trump from office, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday — the same day Democrats unveiled articles of impeachment against the commander in chief.
The poll found that 51% of registered voters surveyed said they don’t want to see Trump impeached and removed from office — compared to 45% who do.
What is significant is that Quinnipiac is generally a Democrat leaning poll and there is no reason to believe they changed their sampling or methodology now.
Those calls for censure are getting louder.

mainstream media cannot dispute this fact: Comey’s FBI repeatedly misled the FISA court and omitted key facts about the phony Steele Dossier, which launched the 2-year, $35M Russia investigation.”
— Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, in a tweet, Dec. 9
This is a tricky tweet. The use of “which” also suggests the dossier assembled by former British spy Christopher Steele triggered the investigation, rather than Papadopoulos’s loose lips. That would support the previous, now-debunked narrative.
But, as noted, the report did document how key facts about the dossier were not disclosed. “We identified multiple instances in which factual assertions relied upon in the first FISA application were inaccurate, incomplete, or unsupported by appropriate documentation, based upon information the FBI had in its possession at the time the application was filed,” the report said, adding that the omissions “made it appear that the information supporting probable cause was stronger than was actually the case.”
AD
For instance, the FBI failed to disclose that Page had been approved as an “operational contact” with another agency (Page has said this is the CIA) and that he had disclosed his contacts with certain Russian intelligence officers. Moreover, the FBI appeared to use these contacts as evidence against him in seeking a court order to conduct surveillance.
McDaniel also pins the failure on “Comey’s FBI,” referring to FBI Director James B. Comey, who was fired by Trump on May 9, 2017. The FISA application to monitor Page was renewed at least once, in June 2017, after Comey was fired.
Steve Guest, an RNC spokesman, defended the tweet by pointing to this line in the report: “We found that the FBI did not have information corroborating the specific allegations against Carter Page in Steele’s reporting when it relied upon his reports in the first FISA application or subsequent renewal applications.”

Could this year be the warmest on record????? Yep, it sure could.....will be close but will certainly be one of the top 5 evah!!!!! Please pay special attention to the world stats when it comes to having cold spells in the US......BWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
One of the world’s hottest years on record—but not so for the contiguous U.S.
A startling global-vs-U.S. contrast in temperatures is another key feature of 2019 as we near its end. This year through November is only the 45th warmest year to date for the contiguous U.S., and the coolest since 2014. That year was the last time daily record lows outnumbered daily record highs, and it may happen again this year, according to meteorologist Guy Walton. However, 2019 has also the warmest year to date in Alaska—and it will likely be the second or third warmest year globally, as noted in a sobering report last week from the World Meteorological Organization. Keep in mind that the contiguous U.S. represents only 5.4% of the planet’s land area, and only about 1.6% of Earth’s total surface area (land plus ocean).
Globally, “the five-year (2015-2019) and ten-year (2010-2019) averages are, respectively, almost certain to be the warmest five-year period and decade on record,” reported the WMO in a news release. “Since the 1980s, each successive decade has been warmer than the last.”
The WMO report occurred at the start of the UN's two-week-long 25th Conference of Parties (COP 25) meeting in Madrid, whose goals include preparing for the next phase of the Paris Agreement to limit greenhouse emissions. We’ll have more on the Madrid meeting in an upcoming post.

President Trump has paid $2 million to eight charities as part of a settlement in which the president admitted he misused funds raised by the Donald J. Trump Foundation to promote his presidential bid and pay off business debts, the New York State attorney general said on Tuesday.
The foundation’s giving patterns and management came under scrutiny during Mr. Trump’s run for office, and last year the New York attorney general filed a lawsuit accusing the president and his family of using the foundation as an extension of their businesses and the campaign.
The payments were part of a settlement announced last month that capped a drawn-out legal battle. In the end, the president admitted in court documents that he had used the foundation to settle legal obligations of his businesses and even to purchase a portrait of himself.
“Charities are not a means to an end, which is why these damages speak to the president’s abuse of power and represent a victory for not-for-profits that follow the law,” the attorney general, Letitia James, said in a statement. “Funds have finally gone where they deserve — to eight credible charities.”
