From hundreds of thousands to thousands...

Women's March draws thousands, brings 'renewed energy' to start new decade: 'We are not resting'
The chants, signs and energy were on par with the past three years, even if the crowds for Women’s March 2020, held Saturday, Jan. 18, didn’t match the turnout of previous Southern California events.
Organizers had expected less than 10,000 in D.C. for this year's "Women Rising" march — about a tenth of the 100,000 or so who turned out last year on an equally snowy and windy day, and a fraction of the 500,000 who jammed the street in 2017.

So from 500,000 to about 10,000 (if even that), this anti-Trump woman's march has started to tank. Quite literally this the number has dropped by about 98% and reflects a general burn out of people trying to remain constantly triggered.

Or perhaps the fact that Trump didn't start WWIII, destroy the country, or tank the economy. In fact the economy is doing better than just well, women are doing better under Trump, trade deals are getting signed, illegal immigration is down, and even crime is down.

I guess the two percent that are still angry enough to protest Trump's mere existence are just doing so as little more than a matter of spite.

A mob in Puerto Rico just found a warehouse full of unused disaster supplies. PR people demanding answers. One answer is that Trump was right. He sent them and those in charge didn't do anything with it.

NY Post reporting. Let's see if any of the left wing media report it.

Dershowitz Says Abuse of Power Not Impeachable

Alan Dershowitz, a member of President Trump’s legal defense team for the impeachment trial, told CNN that he will be arguing in the Senate that abuse of power and obstruction of Congress do not amount to impeachable offenses, even if proven.

Democratic Senator ‘Fine’ if Hunter Biden Testifies

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) told CNN it would be “fine” if Senate Republicans requested Hunter Biden as a witness in the impeachment trial against President Trump in exchange for House Democrats’ requested witnesses.

Said Brown: “I think you bring in — We take the position that we want to hear from the witnesses. I don’t know what Hunter Biden has to do with the phone call the President made.”

He added: “The point is we need witnesses, we need to know who they are with the right to call witnesses, additional witnesses later. But I don’t understand how you come to the American public, make the case that this is a real trial, if there are no witnesses and there is no new evidence.”

Senators Must Keep Quiet During Trial

Associated Press:
“No cellphones. No talking. No escape. That’s the reality during the Senate’s impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, which will begin each day with a proclamation: ‘All persons are commanded to keep silence, on pain of imprisonment.’ After that, 100 senators will sit at their desks for hours on end to hear from House prosecutors, Trump’s defense team and possibly a series of witnesses.”

Trump Wants Trial Done by State of the Union

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said President Trump hopes to have the Senate impeachment trial “behind him” before he delivers the State of the Union address next month, CNN reports.

It may be that the only thing he will have behind him will be Speaker Pelosi sitting there looking triumphant.

Alan Dershowitz, the Harvard Law emeritus professor who recently joined President Trump’s legal team, on Sunday distanced himself from a response by two White House lawyers to House Democrats’ impeachment case against the president, noting that he did not sign on to the document.
“I didn’t sign that brief,” Dershowitz said in an interview on ABC News’s “This Week.” “I didn’t even see the brief until after it was filed. That’s not part of my mandate. My mandate is to determine what is a constitutionally authorized criteria for impeachment.”
Dershowitz is one of four lawyers who were selected personally by Trump and announced Friday as new members of the president’s legal team. The others are former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi and former independent counsels Robert Ray and Kenneth W. Starr.

I LOVE THIS PRESIDENT WHO HAS SUCH A FIRM GRASP ON THE TRUTH, AS SEEN IN JULY OF 2018:

President Trump emerged from his historic summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday saying he doesn’t believe that Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

“I don’t see any reason why it would be,” Trump said during a joint press conference with Putin following their discussions. “President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today.”

But Putin himself acknowledged that he preferred Trump over Hillary Clinton in the election. “Yes, I did,” he said. “Because he talked about bringing the U.S.-Russia relationship back to normal.”

Trump said the pair “spent a great deal of time” in their discussions on Moscow’s alleged meddling.

Putin told reporters that Trump raised the issue of so-called election interference in their one-on-one talks.

“The Russian state has never interfered and is not going to interfere into internal American affairs, including election process,” Putin said through a translator. “Any specific material, if such things arise, we are willing to analyze together.”

Putin’s denial, and Trump’s seeming acceptance of it, flies in the face of the conclusion of six top U.S. intelligence agencies that Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. election.

HERE'S EVEN MORE REASON I'M WORRIED:

Schiff, Nadler Slam Trump Team’s Defense That ‘Abuse Of Power’ Isn’t Impeachable

The impeachment managers on Sunday rejected what they described as “absurdist” and “ignorant” legal claims made by Trump’s defense team.

Two of the most prominent impeachment managers rejected arguments from Donald Trump’s defense team claiming the president shouldn’t have been impeached for abusing the power of his office.

In separate interviews on Sunday, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the Intelligence Committee chairman and lead impeachment manager, and Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), the Judiciary Committee chairman, lambasted defenders of the president for arguing that the conduct at the heart of Trump’s impeachment isn’t impeachable. On Sunday, Schiff called their claims “absurdist.”

Over the past week, Trump’s defense team, which includes lawyer Alan Dershowitz, amplified its assertions that Trump’s demands for Ukraine to investigate his political rivals did not warrant impeachment.

In December, the House voted to impeach the president on two articles: abuse of power and obstructing the congressional investigation into the alleged abuse.

On Sunday, Dershowitz told the host of ABC’s “This Week,” George Stephonopoulos, that Trump should not have been impeached even if all the evidence and arguments laid out by the House are accepted as fact.

“The vote was to impeach on abuse of power ― which is not within the constitutional criteria for impeachment,” Dershowitz said. The claim rests on Dershowitz’s belief that abuse of power is not among the “high crimes and misdemeanors” for which a president can be impeached.

Stephanopoulos: "Is it your position that President Trump should not be impeached even if all the evidence and arguments laid out by the House are accepted as fact?"

Alan Dershowitz: "That's right."
__________

“That’s the argument I suppose you have to make if the facts are so dead-set against you,” Schiff responded in a separate “This Week” interview. Schiff noted that along with several administration officials, Trump himself has already admitted to the conduct at the core of his impeachment. Schiff rejected the suggestion Trump’s conduct is unimpeachable.

“You had to go so far out of the mainstream to find someone to make that argument, you had to leave the realm of constitutional law scholars and go to criminal defense lawyers,” he said of Dershowitz.

"The only thing really new about the president's defense is that they're now arguing – I think because they can't contest the facts — that the president cannot be impeached for abusing the power of his office.

“The logic of that absurdist position that’s being now adopted by the president is he could give away the state of Alaska, he could withhold execution of sanctions on Russia for interfering in the last election, to induce or coerce Russia to interfere in the next one,” Schiff added.

During an interview on “Face the Nation,” Nadler said the argument from Trump’s defense team is “simply ignorance,” adding previous impeachments prove “there is no question” as to whether a president can be charged for abuse of power.

There wasn't any.

But abuse of power could be unlawful. But doesn't have to be. It's too ill-defined. It could also be just his political opponents creating their own definition.

And obstruction of Congress sure as hell is made up bullshit.

How has Harvard suddenly become a beacon for stupidity...

Any acts that is "evil" and "drastically subvert the Constitution" are already defined as criminal acts. If the act in question is not labeled as a crime, it is very likely neither "evil" or something that "drastically subvert the Constitution".

But it is good humor.
