Left wing crazies will not give up!

Opinions | George Conway and Neal Katyal: How Pelosi should play her impeachment cards

The first article of impeachment effectively charges the president with shaking down Ukraine; the second impeaches him for his unprecedented obstruction of Congress. That gives the speaker room to maneuver. She could choose to tweak her announcement and send only the second article, on obstruction, for trial. Or she could transmit them both — along with a House-approved provision advising the Senate that if it fails to obtain adequate witnesses and documents, the House will reopen the investigation into Article I and subpoena that material itself.

Well let's be clear here folks, Pelosi is sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate next week because she lost the support she needed to hold on them any longer.  When you lose Democratic Senator after Democratic Senator, the opinion of George Conway holds little weight.

Moreover, this is a total cave by Pelosi. Not only did she get no concessions from McConnell, she probably galvanized GOP support against her. It's time for Democrats to admit defeat, capitulate to the process, and then spend some times licking their collective wounds.

But this complete and total humiliation is not lost on the far left of the Party. It's also not lost on those most likely to believe that this charade of  is actually fundamentally sound. I loath to think that anyone believes the rhetoric stated here.

As far as unprecedented. Did people forget that Trump was investigated all the way through the 2016 election. Moreover, Trump (and  his campaign) was investigated for far less cause than a possible Burisma investigation has and the scope of that investigation was way more widespread than anything Burisma would be subjected to. Literally they used unfounded (aka: made up) research paid for by the Clinton team to justify their investigation. With Burisma, even the Democrats own witnesses admitted it was a legitimate cause. Ironically, the only way that Burisma would implicate Biden is if there was actual malfeasance by Biden.

Oh, and the unprecedented obstruction? Did they forget that the Obama administration completely shut down congressional investigations into both the Fast and Furious fiasco and the IRS targeting scandal? Subpoenaed documents were withheld and Obama officials ignored subpoenas to testify when Congress was investigating the so called "scandal free" Obama administration. Unprecedented my ass!

Either way... this thing is ending by the end of January and I promise you that the American public will continue to want to "move on". Nancy Pelosi will not "reopen" an investigation that she prematurely shut down for political timing reasons. If the crazies like George Conway want to continue to play this for political effect, then it will backfire. You can take that to the bank!

How Pelosi should play her impeachment cards

she doesn't have any cards to play.

the house has NO constitutional influence over the senate in this or any impeachment proceedings.

zero. zip. nada.

these guys are fucking delusional.

My favorite is the suggestion that Pelosi send over the articles with a threat that the House will reopen their investigation if the Senate fails to.

Isn't the second article of impeachment based on the false premise that the House couldn't complete their investigation because of White House obstruction.

If, in fact, the House could reopen their investigation and continue to gather more evidence (possibly go to court to enforce their subpoenas)... it actually kills off their entire case for "obstruction" and it just proves that the House didn't do their job.

especially since that's basically a given. especially if the donks hold the house in 2020 which is increasingly unlikely.

Isn't the second article of impeachment based on the false premise that the House couldn't complete their investigation because of White House obstruction.

something like that. ask the alky. he's an expert on objection of justice.

peloshee* must be privately admitting to herself that impeachment was the dumbest fucking idea of all time. if not now, then she will when she becomes the first speaker in history to lose the house majority TWICE.

A trial has the prosecutor and the defendant.

The prosecution will get 4 jurors to support subpoenas to Bolton and others. As well as the documents withheld by the President.

It won't be less than 3 weeks of coverage by the Fake News will greatly anger the President.

Famous last words!

Protests erupt in Iran over plane's downing that killed 176
NBC News

A group of Iranian protesters demanded that the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei step down on Saturday after the government said its military had by mistake shot down a Ukrainian plane, killing all 176 people on board.

Those aboard the doomed flight included 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians and 11 Ukrainians, including the nine crew members. Ten passengers were from Sweden, four from Afghanistan, three from Germany and three from the United Kingdom.

The protesters in Iran expressed anger at what they perceive as an initial cover-up.

Prior to Iran's admission Saturday, it had denied shooting down the Ukraine International Airlines flight, which crashed shortly after it took off from Tehran early Wednesday.

But U.S. intelligence officials had said earlier that evidence suggested that the plane was shot down by an Iranian missile by mistake, multiple officials said.

"Commander-in-chief (Khamenei) resign, resign," videos posted on Twitter showed hundreds of people chanting, in front of Tehran’s Amir Kabir university.

The crowds included middle-class professionals as well as students.

The Iranians, after denying they shot down the airliner, admitted a few days later that they had, and apologized, calling it "an unforgivable mistake."

I heard last night on the radio that in 1988 when one of our warships mistakenly shot down an Iranian passenger jet, and denied doing it even longer, George W. Bush eventually said, "I don't care what the facts are, there will be no apology."

Is that true?

Correction: I misheard. That would have had to have been George H. W. Bush. Did he say it?

This might surprise you.

I'm glad they assassinated the Iranian general. The reason think that the government of Iran is in danger. The people want a government that is not the revolutionary government branch.

They know what the sanctions are causing the government to collapse. The younger generation wants a true democracy and contact with the outside world.

Iran is trying hard keep that from happening in Iraq. Because they want the same thing, contact with the rest of the world.
