Land of the not so free and home of the not so brave!

I can appreciate everyone's concern. I have people close to me with some of the preexisting conditions that could leave them susceptible to Covid-19. But at a certain point in time, everyone needs to start doing what is right for them.

Let's be clear. The concept of a national lock down cannot go on forever. Without the necessary explanation as to why opening in two weeks is substantially different than opening tomorrow, what (other than unexplained fear) is the reason for the delay?

We are no longer "flattening the curve" and for the life of me there seems to be little explanation as to why the extended delays.  Right now is almost as if our Governors are just pushing the goalposts out a little at a time hoping and praying that we run into some sort of vaccine or cure in the next couple of weeks. As much as I appreciate the metrics provided by the task force, it seems almost arbitrary and somewhat confusing as to what purpose it serves.

When these metrics came out a while back, the suggestion was that upwards of 30 states had areas that would qualify to open. Right now we are lagging well behind those recommendations, and some of the states opening are not even those states meeting the guidelines.

Reports from many parts of the country that are reopening is that people are willing to come out and go to some of these establishments. We have all seen the crowds gathering at beaches, parks, and other areas that have recently opened.  Obviously it will be slower for retail and restaurants, but there are many different reports of limited traffic making it's way back.

However, polling suggests that most people are still not ready to risk any sort of human contact. Again, I can appreciate that and at the end of the day, these people are free to keep themselves locked down as long as they would like to. There will come a time when their employer may provide them an ultimatum regarding work, but how they frequent social gatherings or businesses are completely up to them.

Likewise, people who are preferring to go back out in public (in spite of whatever risk there may be) should also be free to do so. We do, as it stands, still live in a capitalistic Republic with a government that provides many rights to the citizens. We no not live in any sort of monarchy where one person gets to decide how everyone else acts.

Sorry to disappoint you Denny..

But when you are a computer engineer with a company laptop and you support software used all over the world by multitudes of clients...

You have a job that continues regardless of whether or not your physical office is open. Most of us still have to work and get things done even as you and your ilk cower in fear (like itty bitty scardy cats)!

In fact, I have not been in the office since before our state was shut down as I had been working remotely from Seattle prior to our shutdown. I've been working outside of the office for two months, ace!

Will continue as long as it is necessary!

Why is it dems always project their situation and what they did/are doing on others ?

lo iq has previously told how the Trump tax cuts only saved him under $300. That is truly someone with little income.

no iq

And no future.

How did "prepare the hospitals and flatten the curve" turn into "stay in your homes for months, everyone go on unemployment, and give up your constitutional rights to radical, totalitarian Democrat governors?"

It's time to end this BS.

may have to wait till Nancy runs out of ice cream and that may be a REAL LONG TIME.

Someone cut the power to her house and get this over with.

Cuomo put out a 7 criteria list for a region to reopen. No one passes. 5 out of 7 is currently the best.

Sounds like Ch is trying to have it both ways.

As if he is saying,
Those who want to stay home and not infect other people or be infected by them have that right,
and those who want to go out and infect other people and be infected by them have that right.

Hmmmmmm.
A very interesting moral and "Constitutional" question.
