But the reality here is plain. Neither the Foreign Agents Registration Act or the Logan Act are serious federal charges that have been pursued by out Federal law enforcement up until the time Trump was elected President. Even then, while some (Paul Manafort) got the book thrown at them over FARA, others (members of the Podesta group) were asked to retroactively register and did not suffer any sort of fines or punishment, much less felony criminal charges.
If these were serious federal crimes, then why has almost nobody (in the case of FARA) or literally nobody (in the case of the Logan Act) been previously charged with crimes for committing these dastardly deeds? So far, not one legal expert who supported the charges against Flynn has been able to explain why "suddenly" these actions became horrible crimes, after being basically ignored for so many years.
Moreover, if they had planned on charging Flynn (or his son) with FARA violations violations, or had planned on charging Flynn with violations of the Logan Act, then why was the case thought to have been closed? Certainly they threw the book at Paul Manafort. There was no reason to believe that the FBI or the Mueller probe was going easy on people associated with Trump.
At the end of the day, Mueller's team did not charge Flynn or his son with any FARA violations and they certainly were never going to charge the General with the Logan Act. Their interview did not even remotely touch on any sort of FARA violations, and was "supposedly" justified because they were concerned that he was in violation of the Logan Act (which is complete nonsense).
The sad reality is that they threatened charges against him, as well as charges against his son because they believed they could pressure him into telling them something about Russian collusion or some other nefarious actions being conspired by the President and the higher ups. When he didn't provide the information that they sought, they took what they could... which was literally nothing more than perjury.
The problem was that he actually never committed that crime. That's the bottom line.

Because FBI agents aren't automatically privy to a new administration foreign policy discussions.

Basically the concept of the sanctions being discussed was a matter of the Russian Ambassador asking Flynn about them and Flynn telling him that they would deal with it later (and to not escalate in the meantime).
There is a fairly good argument to be made... that the Russian Ambassador wanted to bring up sanctions and Flynn refused to discuss the subject.

I don't pay much attention to the polls until October, right now they are just polling for the narrative they want (there's no penalty for being wrong this early) and Biden has it easy being out of the spotlight and hunkered down in the basement.

Former President Barack Obama, talking privately to ex-members of his administration, said Friday that the “rule of law is at risk” in the wake of what he called an unprecedented move by the Justice Department to drop charges against former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, Yahoo News reports.
In the same chat, Obama also lashed out at the Trump administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic as “an absolute chaotic disaster.”
He added: “That’s why, I, by the way, am going to be spending as much time as necessary and campaigning as hard as I can for Joe Biden.”

General Flynn was fully exonerated, the FBI was exposed for illegally setting him up and ambushing him, 53 transcripts were released showing no one had any evidence of Russian collusion, and CNN is reporting on OAN's Chanel Rion carrying a chair.

Said Bright: “I am not disgruntled. I am frustrated at a lack of leadership. I am frustrated at a lack of urgency to get a head start on developing lifesaving tools for Americans. I’m frustrated at our inability to be heard as scientists. Those things frustrate me.”
He added: “We see too many doctors and nurses now dying. And I was thinking that we could have done more to get those masks and those supplies to them sooner. And if we had, would they still be alive today? It’s a horrible thought to think about the time that passed where we could’ve done something and we didn’t.”

There is a specific rule allowing for this motion under Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 48(a). There are specific Supreme Court cases like Rinaldi v. United States addressing the standard for such dismissals....

The Justice Department has dismissed cases in the past including the Stevens case.That was requested by President Obama's own Attorney General Eric Holder for the same reason: misconduct by prosecutors. It was done before the same judge, Judge Sullivan. How is that for precedent?

Rates of interpersonal deception — the lies I tell you and you tell me — have been remarkably stable in deception research over time. But, as others suggested, something is unusual about President Trump. His rate of deception has increased since taking office.
As of early April, Trump has told 23.3 lies per day in 2020, a 0.5-lie increase since 2019. What’s more, Trump has averaged 23.8 lies per day since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in the US — another 0.5-lie increase. Even during a pandemic, when the public needs to trust and rely on him the most, deception remains a core part of the president’s playbook.
