The new memos released Thursday by Director of National intelligence John Ratcliffe detail the FBI's conduct during a mid-August 2016 counterintelligence briefing, Trump's first as the GOP nominee, in which an agent was secretly inserted to gather evidence of later-disproven Russia collusion.
The extraordinary notes confirm information first divulged last December by the Justice Department inspector general that the Comey FBI used the August 2016 briefing as a way of sizing up then-candidate Trump and Flynn in the Russia case and gathering evidence against them.
Let's be clear... when you add this together with other new documents that prove the FBI never actually believed Trump was conspiring with the Russians, it's hard to justify any of these actions (whether they be FISA warrants, or adding a live operative to snoop around).
In every case they claim that they were following up on the Trump Russia conspiracy, you can simply replace that pretense with whatever other pretense you might like to use. You can no longer suggest it was about a legitimate Trump Russia investigation. Either way... at end of the day, it's still the FBI using nearly every resource available to them to spy on Trump and his staff with pretty much zero actual reason to do so.
I find it ironic that the same people who believe this sort of federal intervention was completely acceptable are currently upset that Federal agents are protecting Federal buildings from being burned down and looted.

All this while he loads taxpayer dollars out the back door of the White House as fast as he can, gathered from cheesy schemes to get public money and from payoffs disguised as donations for dismantling all the parts of government, especially protective regulations, that get in the way of the rich and corporate elites.
Now, consistently ten points behind in the national polls in his election campaign, desperate measures are called for. He has dusted off his reality TV skills and sent unmarked and unwelcome “federal police” (there really is nothing by that name generally in the US) into the streets of cities run by Democrats, trying to pick a fight.
Of course, this is all staging of a “reality” that really doesn’t exist in America, just as “American carnage” didn’t exist at the time of his inauguration, but it is a conflict he must fabricate and dramatize, and weave into the political screenplay of his campaign.
Trump is desperate to mislead the American people into believing there is a national, urgent conflict tearing America apart — hopefully giving him an issue that can pull him out of the electoral hole he is in, caused by his own incompetence and impulsiveness.
Trump is quite proficient at building lie upon lie until the old lies become truth, and to keep pressing hard until his manufactured version of “truth” forces its way into the American consciousness, until that is all we can talk about in our daily discourse.
Trump learned as much from the performance art of professional wrestling, which he also briefly participated in, as he did from reality television. Professional wrestling revived itself by doing away with actual wrestling, and instead indulging in the theater of good versus evil.
Trump has chosen to play a “bad guy”forever. There’s never going to be a switchback to a “good” character because he more closely identifies with the bad guy role, and his audience prefers that role because it more closely aligns with their inner aspirations — to be rich, offensive, insensitive, racist and sexist whenever they feel like it, and to never apologize for being an asshole, a state of mind to which they believe they are entitled.
So, as sophisticated viewers and audience members, who know from history that in the 1930s, while they were on the rise, Nazis and Italian and Spanish fascists also had a strong sense of theater, we must ask ourselves: what do we do?
We know Trump’s fascism for what it is, we know he is spending millions of our tax dollars staging cheesy dramas across America from Mt. Rushmore to Portland to Chicago for his followers, who eat it up with the same maniacal fervor as wrestling fans.
Yet, we also know that dramas, even bad ones, become part of our collective consciousness and our memory, and memory becomes prologue for the next downward spiral in American democracy and the next wave of fascism. Dramatic enactment creates reality.
Some of Trump’s audience members are already taking it seriously, from Charlottesville to attacks on synagogues to the arming of white supremacists. And the injuries sustained by lawful protestors in Portland from unmarked “federal police” are real as well — all too real and horrid.
Do we hit the streets and become reality stars in Trump’s reality TV campaign commercials or do we abstain and keep organizing to defeat him and the Republican Congress in November?
It is reality TV, but because of the way we humans internalize drama, it is also becoming reality — a reality invented by Trump that reshapes America minute by minute as he grinds down our optimism, our imagination, and our sense of objective reality. Sometimes nightmares don’t go away on their own, we have to wake up, turn the light on and force them to end.

America’s Founders, schooled in a profound philosophical and literary tradition dating back to classical antiquity, understood the fragility of civil peace and the danger of the lustful, vengeful mob.

'We are living in fear': Florida health department workers write to DeSantis after several employees test positive

Employees at the central offices of the Florida Department of Health have written to Gov. Ron DeSantis to express concern that his administration has not done enough to keep them safe from the coronavirus.
“The Department is not taking any extra precautions to keep us and our families safe,” a letter sent on Friday by health department employees states, describing a lack of safety precautions at FDOH’s central offices in the state capital, Tallahassee. Yahoo News obtained the text of the letter, which was signed by “Concerned State of Florida Employees.”
In recent weeks, Florida has become the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S., reporting about 10,000 new cases on a daily basis. On Friday, the state reported 135 new deaths from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
The situation in the Sunshine State has become so grave that President Trump announced on Thursday that he would be canceling the portion of the Republican National Convention that was to take place in Jacksonville, the state’s largest city.
Citing “the flare-up in Florida,” Trump said that “the timing for this event is not right.”
That decision was a blow to DeSantis, who won the governorship largely because of Trump’s surprising endorsement. A close ally of the president, he has been sharply criticized for what critics have called an inattentive handling of the coronavirus crisis. A recent poll found that only 38 percent of Floridians approve of his response to the pandemic.
DeSantis’s office did not reply to requests for comment from Yahoo News.
The health department has largely been absent from the response ever since the state’s surgeon general was removed by a DeSantis aide from a public briefing for urging citizens to partake in social distancing measures. Several weeks after that incident, the department fired Rebekah Jones, a geographer who had created and was managing its well-regarded coronavirus dashboard.
Jones has alleged that the firing was in retaliation for her refusal to manipulate data.
The letter suggests that a climate of political retribution does indeed prevail at the health department. “We are living in fear and feel our lives and our family’s lives don’t matter,” it says, “but too afraid to speak up for the fear of being fired. We want to be protected like everyone else!”
The letter says that after “several” health department employees tested positive for the coronavirus, and one family member of an employee died as a result, the state failed to take action.
“Management was alerted of the confirmed cases and knew everyone in the office had possibly been exposed,” the letter says. “Nothing was done by management; our office has not been cleaned or sanitized. We all are still sitting here in cubicles one to two feet apart from each other, in violation of social distancing. No one is following the governor’s required mask order in the office or in the building for that matter.”
An employee at the health department confirmed that mask wearing was sporadic at its central offices. As for updates to employees, there had been none, that person said. “This administration has not sent any communications to its employees,” the department employee told Yahoo News.
The letter notes that the state’s Emergency Operations Center requires employees to undergo “aggressive screening.” That center was closed earlier this week after 12 people there tested positive for the coronavirus. A deep cleaning of those offices followed.
The health department did not immediately respond to a Yahoo News request for comment.

Black Man Known for Standing Outside With ‘Vote Trump’ Signs Murdered in Broad Daylight
When they say “Black Lives Matter,” it is clear the left does not mean black lives like the one of Bernell Tremmell.
Tremmell was well-known in his Milwaukee community for being an outspoken advocate for President Donald Trump. He would spend his days out in the heat at City Hall or in his neighborhood with his homemade signs urging people to reelect the president in November.
On Thursday afternoon, the 60-year-old activist was fatally shot in broad daylight outside his business, Expression Publications. The storefront was covered in signs with bible versus, along with “Vote Donald Trump 2020,” and “Re-Elect Trump 2020.” The suspect reportedly drove up, shot him, and drove away.
Law enforcement sources told “The Dan O’Donnell Show” that they do not yet know the motive for the murder, since they have not yet made any arrests, but “detectives are investigating the possibility that Tremmell was killed over his political beliefs.”
Reggie Moore, Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention director, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he had “intervened in a dispute between Trammel and a young man” that he thought was “related to a Trump sign that Trammell was carrying.”
It is unclear if the altercation was a factor in his death.
“I had an interaction with him last Saturday across the street from Walmart on Capitol Drive,” one woman who did not wish to be identified told the radio show. “It was the second time I had seen him with his Trump sign and I pulled my car over to chat with him. What a nice, friendly man! We chatted for several minutes, and I told him I was proud of him and he’s very brave to put himself out there so visibly as a Trump supporter!”

Well Denny, if you want to deploy 100 million doses of the vaccine the moment it is "proven" then you have to investing in ramped up production.
