Orcs March On Minas Tirith In Mostly Peaceful Protest

MINAS TIRITH—Orcs marched on Minas Tirith this morning in a mostly peaceful protest.

The rioters marched for peace, justice, and love in a calm, peaceful, orderly gathering outside the city walls. The mostly peaceful protesters launched peaceful siege projectiles at the city and sent Nazguls to maul Gondorian soldiers in a demonstration of their love and tolerance.

"Everything is very calm, very peaceful here," said a reporter from Gondor News Network. "It's very tranquil." Just then, an Oliphaunt charged right at him and flattened him into lembas bread.

Gondor's government was criticized for "police brutality" when, after a long period of inaction, Rohan's armies finally charged in to break things up.

"We were just peacefully protesting -- Gondor had no right to peacefully protest back," said one Orc. "Two of their agents were even having a contest to see how many of us they could kill -- and they were killing the majestic, endangered Oliphaunts! I'm literally shaking right now."

These guys are so good.

Trump is Holding COVID Aid Hostage for His #1 Priority: Defunding Social Security
(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Nancy Altman, President of Social Security Works, in response to Donald Trump demanding that the next coronavirus relief package include a cut in the payroll tax, Social Security’s dedicated revenue:

“The coronavirus pandemic is raging across America. Essential workers are in desperate need of tests and personal protective equipment (PPE). Millions of Americans are at risk of eviction. Over 57,000 nursing home residents and workers are dead. Hospitals are in danger of becoming overwhelmed.

Donald Trump is doing nothing to address any of this. Instead, he’s stated his intentions to hold any Congressional relief package hostage for his top priority: Defunding Social Security by starving it of its dedicated revenue.

As economic stimulus, this approach makes no sense. Payroll tax cuts waste money, delivering the wealthy and powerful the largest cuts while providing nothing to those who need it most, such as the millions about to lose their COVID unemployment benefits.

But cutting Social Security contributions advances a longstanding right-wing ideological goal: Weakening our Social Security system.

Congress must not give into Trump’s hostage-taking. Every Senator and Representative needs to call Trump’s bluff and work together to quickly send a COVID relief bill to Trump’s desk — without including any cuts to Social Security’s dedicated revenue.”

I want to preface this difficult post by saying that Black Lives Matter and that should remain at the center of every conversation right now about police brutality and the Feds involvement in Portland, OR.

I have attended several non-violent protests around Portland in support of BLM since late May. Last Sunday and again on Tuesday, I joined the Wall of Moms as they stood together in defense and support of protesters on the front line.

As a 41 year old white woman with immense privilege and mother of 3 young children, I was inspired to use not only my voice, but also my body, to defend our First Amendment right to protest and send a clear message that Black lives are worth fighting for.

Last night (Saturday July 25), I joined the Wall of Moms once again to march from the Salmon Street Springs fountain to the Justice Center, where we lined up in rows up and down 3rd Avenue, about 10 feet from the fence that federal troops erected around the building. We chanted “Black Lives Matter” with other protesters and repeated the names of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Shai’India Harris (as well as countless others that filled my head and heart). Around 10:45 pm, we saw federal officers exit the Justice Center and line up on the other side of the fence. Some of the friends I was with decided to leave at that point, but I checked in with my buddy and two other friends and we decided to stay on.

I pulled out my phone at 10:52 pm and snapped a few pictures of the fence and the federal guards standing opposite me. I put my phone back in my pocket, pulled my safety goggles down from where they sat on my helmet to cover my eyes, inserted a pair of ear plugs, and locked arms with the women next to me. I remember some confetti had been launched on the far right side of us. I could hear a marching band playing in the intersection to our left. I didn’t notice anything in particular happening around me or in front of me in those moments. I was looking around, looking forward, and taking it in.

Just before 11 pm, I heard a BOOM and felt something hit my face.

I fell backwards into the other moms, who must have caught me because I don’t remember hitting the ground. I was pulled backwards and then picked up by someone who carried me through the crowd yelling “MEDIC! OUT OF THE WAY!” I never saw this person because there was blood gushing down my face, but I am forever grateful for them for swiftly and selflessly carrying me to safety. I was laid down in the back of a medic vehicle and a number of kind, brave, and caring medical professionals helped me. After they stopped the bleeding, they called an ambulance and transported me to a second vehicle on a gurney through a sea of tear gas. I covered my face and listened as medics and protesters yelled “MAKE WAY” to carry me through. The second medic vehicle was to take me to an ambulance that never arrived, so the driver offered to take me to the hospital himself. I am in awe of the care and compassion shown to me by these volunteer medics and protesters alike. I felt safe in their presence.

At the hospital, my CAT scan showed no brain damage or skull injury, but it did reveal a “foreign substance” all over my forehead and even in one of my eyes. The doctors couldn’t see it, but they pointed out the appearance of tiny fragments that had pierced my skin, like gravel but there was no gravel to recover. I received 7 stitches, some pain medication, and sent home, with advice to follow up with an eye doctor. One nurse also advised me to file a police report.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I am lucky to be surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors who want to help and care for me. I will ask for help if needed, I promise.

If you really want to help, I would ask that you find ways to participate in or support the BLM movement. Donate to volunteer medical services, or organizations supporting protesters. Sign petitions, speak out. Support Black-owned businesses and support Black moms and dads, who have been part of the Wall of Moms for generations and continue to fight.

And VOTE. Vote like you could get shot in the face for stepping out and speaking up.

Catatonic with hate

The law enforcement officers involved are some of the nicest, friendliest people I have ever worked with. From several different agencies, they have come from around the country. Everyone is kind, generous, sharing food, giving each other rides home, and offering to host or show around each other in their home towns in the future. West Virginia, Idaho, Georgia, everyone is supportive, walks around with a smile and a pat on the back. Once they step out the doors of the courthouse, though, they are met with a hostile hatred from fellow citizens I consider unmatched in my life. I have seen mentally ill, frothing-at-the-mouth individuals screaming at people in front of liquor stores or Walmart parking lots, but that is one single, unhinged individual. Multiply that by 1,000 people, standing 10-20 yards in front of you, who also have rocks and other hidden weapons.

As the night goes on, the rioters become so hateful it is surreal. Their voices hoarse, their sentences jumbled, they seem almost catatonic with hate. The unrest seems to draw the mentally ill and drug abusers. Some seem to be both. The officers stand calmly, listening to it, taking it, only making a move if the rioters try to destroy the property or enter the area they have been told repeatedly not to enter. They [the agents] don't even respond to thrown projectiles, merely calmly dodging them. Some of the things screamed at us, ad nauseum:

"Go home! You're Nazis, racists, the Gestapo! Fuck you, fuck your mom, you suck! Quit your job and go fuck yourself! I'm going to get all your fucking names!"

I'm seeing African American Federal Protective Service inspectors, twenty year's law enforcement officer, being called the N-word to their face for the first time in their careers, by a scrawny, pasty white booger-eating communist shithead.

We get more surreal things yelled at us. One guy kept repeating, "You shot my fucking dog!" over and over, but we have seen zero dogs anywhere at any point. One guy wanders down the skirmish line when things are more in control and says, "Why are you shooting at them? You don't need to. Their shields are made of cardboard. There's no threat. No one is armed..." And he repeats that night after night with a backpack full of wildflowers, which he places everywhere.

Much of it is contradictory. One rioter begged to be shot, begged, but then screamed that we were guilty of shooting people. He told us to lay down our weapons and join them, and then said he would kick all our asses.

White man charged with stabbing Black Trump supporter in Portland

A White man was charged with stabbing a Black President Trump supporter in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday.

Blake D. Hampe, 43, was charged with felony assault after he stabbed a man about 2:30 a.m. Saturday during demonstrations near the city’s federal courthouse, police said.

The Portland Police Bureau said officers were called to the scene at Southwest 5th Avenue and Salmon Street when they found Mr. Hampe being held down by several protesters and one male victim with a stab wound.

“Police attempted to create a crime scene but were unable to due to the aggressive crowd behavior and lack of community cooperation,” the bureau said in a statement. “The victim was transported to an area hospital with a serious injury, and the suspect was arrested.”

Drew Duncomb, a conservative videographer and vocal supporter of Mr. Trump who goes by the name Black Rebel on social media, identified himself as the victim in a series of Twitter posts, saying he was released from the hospital Sunday.

Mr. Duncomb posted a video from his hospital bed saying he believed he was stabbed by an Antifa member. He launched a crowdfunding page on Fundly, asking for help to pay his medical bills. It had raised more than $2,000 as of Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hampe was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and held on a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday.

The ‘1619 Project’ Gets Schooled

The New York Times tries to rewrite U.S. history, but its falsehoods are exposed by surprising sources.

By Elliot Kaufman of The WSJ. Excerpts:
"‘So wrong in so many ways” is how Gordon Wood, the Pulitzer Prize-winning historian of the American Revolution, characterized the New York Times’s “1619 Project.” James McPherson, dean of Civil War historians and another Pulitzer winner, said the Times presented an “unbalanced, one-sided account” that “left most of the history out.” Even more surprising than the criticism from these generally liberal historians was where the interviews appeared: on the World Socialist Web Site, run by the Trotskyist Socialist Equality Party."

"“I wish my books would have this kind of reaction,” Mr. Wood says in an email. “It still strikes me as amazing why the NY Times would put its authority behind a project that has such weak scholarly support.” He adds that fellow historians have privately expressed their agreement. Mr. McPherson coolly describes the project’s “implicit position that there have never been any good white people, thereby ignoring white radicals and even liberals who have supported racial equality.”"

"The American Revolution didn’t found a “slavocracy,” as Ms. Hannah-Jones puts it. Instead, in Mr. Mackaman’s telling, it “brought slavery in for questioning in a way that had never been done before” by “raising universal human equality as a fundamental principle.” Nor was protecting slavery “one of the primary reasons” the colonists declared independence, as Ms. Hannah-Jones claims. It’s no coincidence the abolitionists rapidly won votes to end slavery in five of the original 13 states, along with Vermont and the new states of the Midwest."

"Mr. Mackaman also protests Ms. Hannah-Jones’s “cherry-picking” of quotes to present Lincoln as a “garden-variety racist.” He attributes the misleading picture to her “totally racialist interpretation.” If whites and blacks are supposed to be “diametrically opposed to each other,” he says, “then you have to disregard all the history that runs contrary to that—and there’s an awful lot.”"

It took The New York Times seven months to admit a problem with its 1619 Project — and even its correction preserves the fundamental lie of its bid to rewrite American history.

The 1619 Project, which puts the nation’s true founding in the year African slaves were first brought here, insists that “out of slavery grew nearly everything that has truly made America exceptional: its economic might, its industrial power, its electoral system.” The Post’s Twisted History series showed earlier this month how wrong this was — in particular, project lead Nikole Hannah-Jones’ claim that the American Revolution was fought primarily to preserve slavery.

Scholars of all political stripes from a variety of disciplines objected to Hannah-Jones’ essay immediately on its publication last August, especially this crucial line: “Conveniently left out of our founding mythology is the fact that one of the primary reasons the colonists decided to declare their independence from Britain was because they wanted to protect the institution of slavery.”

That’s a lie, pure and simple, and the paper still hasn’t corrected it. It “made an important clarification,” in Hannah-Jones’ words. A new “editors’ note” explains, “A passage has been adjusted.” Namely, it added two words: The essay now says protecting slavery was the main reason “some of” the colonists fought to rebel from England.

Sorry: Preserving slavery was not a major motive for declaring independence, and next to no one fought in the war for that reason: The colonists didn’t think slavery was under threat, because it wasn’t.

Curriculum based on NYT's wildly wrong 1619 Project would be educational malpractice
In fact, the ideas behind the revolution also spurred anti-slavery sentiment. Many delegates condemned the practice on the floor of the Constitutional Convention, with New York’s own Gouverneur Morris calling it “a nefarious institution — It was the curse of heaven on the States where it prevailed.”

Tensions over the abomination, so flagrantly at odds with the high phrase “All men are created equal,” put North and South at odds from the start.

After the change, Hannah-Jones tweeted, “In attempting to summarize and streamline, journalists can sometimes lose important context and nuance. I did that here.” No, you rewrote American history — and pushed to indoctrinate children with that lie. And you’re still lying.

https://nypost.com/2020/03/14/new-york-times-corrects-the-1619-project-but-its-still-a-giant-lie/

Anonymous said...

These errors, which concern major events, cannot be described as interpretation or “framing.” They are matters of verifiable fact, which are the foundation of both honest scholarship and honest journalism. They suggest a displacement of historical understanding by ideology. Dismissal of objections on racial grounds — that they are the objections of only “white historians” — has affirmed that displacement.

On the American Revolution, pivotal to any account of our history, the project asserts that the founders declared the colonies’ independence of Britain “in order to ensure slavery would continue.” This is not true. If supportable, the allegation would be astounding — yet every statement offered by the project to validate it is false. Some of the other material in the project is distorted, including the claim that “for the most part,” black Americans have fought their freedom struggles “alone.”

So we're into our 5th month of defeating COVID-19. These words made me laugh but there's a lot of truth mixed in to consider. . .

1. So let me get this straight, there’s no cure for a virus that can be killed by sanitizer and hand soap?

2. Is it too early to put up the Christmas tree yet? I have run out of things to do.

3. When this virus thing is over with, I still want some of you to stay away from me.

4. If these last months have taught us anything, it’s that stupidity travels faster than any virus on the planet, particularly among politicians and bureaucrats.

5. Just wait a second – so what you're telling me is that my chance of surviving all this is directly linked to the common sense of others? You’re kidding, right?

Tennessee Governor Refuses to Close Bars
July 27, 2020 at 7:31 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) refuses to shutter bars in the state even after top White House coronavirus adviser Dr. Deborah Birx directly encouraged the state to do so Monday, the Tennessean reports.

“Birx said she traveled to Tennessee because the state teeters on a precipice from which other Southern states had already fallen: The virus has spread among asymptomatic young people into rural areas, and it now threatens to reach new levels of infection.”

Said Birx:
“It is at this very moment where we could change the trajectory of the epidemic before it goes into full … of what we call logarithmic spread, as we’ve seen across the South.”

What’s happening

As the national reckoning on race brings fresh scrutiny to how Black history is taught in public schools, one Republican senator introduced a bill intended to stop the teaching of a New York Times project that reframes the history of slavery in the U.S.

Sen. Tom Cotton’s bill, the “Saving American History Act of 2020,” would withhold federal funding for teaching journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones’s “The 1619 Project.” The project, for which Hannah-Jones won a Pulitzer Prize, is set to be included in the curriculum of schools in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York City. The bill is not expected to pass, and Hannah-Jones responded by tweeting a link to the project’s curriculum.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

American educators are grappling with how to address race in the wake of nationwide protests against the killings of Black Americans — an issue that also emerged following the civil rights movement.

There’s no national curriculum on race or Black history in public schools. (A bill introduced in May by Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, would provide funding for schools teaching about Black history and require that national history tests include questions about Black history.)

States are largely free to design their own lesson plans. Only a handful have laws that mandate Black history lessons. A CBS News investigation found that curriculum requirements for Black history vary widely among the 50 states. The investigation found that most states require students to learn about slavery and the civil rights movements, but that interpretations of those topics vary drastically. For instance, in 16 states, states’ rights, rather than slavery, are cited as the cause of the Civil War.

Why there’s debate

Educators and historians widely agree that Black history must be taught in schools, but there’s debate about how to teach it to students. Some argue that teaching Black history would prevent it from being repeated. If Americans learned more about race from a young age, the current racial justice movement might not need to exist, they say. It’s important to teach about the brutality of events like the 1921 Tulsa race massacre and to avoid sanitizing Black history, they argue.

Other educators believe that Black history is taught with too much focus on violence and oppression and should include lessons about the joy and triumphs of Black people. Black history must be humanized so that Black people aren’t seen as addendums to American history, they argue.

There are also concerns from a few educators that only one version of theories about race will be taught. When we teach the construction of Blackness, we must also teach the construction of whiteness, one educator argues. Another says that teachers should include several theories of race, even those that are considered controversial, to allow students to critically examine race and racism from multiple perspectives.

What’s next

Students and educators will return to classrooms in a few weeks, and schools are rethinking their curricula on American history as protests for racial justice continue. But as experts urge school districts toward new curriculum and teacher training, schools will have to balance those initiatives with deep budget cuts due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Perspectives
Teaching about race is a way to fight racism

“If we can teach today’s students to understand systemic racism and our individual roles in perpetuating it, then perhaps we’ll have fewer future adults saying things like, ‘It was just a rogue cop.’” — Editorial, Los Angeles Times

Teach students more about the triumphs and contributions of Black Americans

"We are not taught enough about how Black men and women put their lives on the line to create what we know today as the multiracial vision of American democracy. Given the type of society we're striving towards, the type of society we'd like to be, let's let our kids know very early on what [African Americans'] particular contributions really are.” — Westenley Alcenat to CBS News

Don’t teach a sanitized version of Black history

“These folks are to be honored for their accomplishments — but we should not ignore lessons that explore the impact of racism in the Black experience. It’s imperative that teachers not reinforce a milquetoast version of Black history that is anti-Black because of its erasure of painful truths.” — Rann Miller, Edutopia

Teach Black history so its tragedies are not repeated

“Black people have been saying this for the past 400 years, this is not a new movement. Each generation has had their point in time where they’re trying to say through protest, through rebellion, ‘listen to us, listen to us.’ In many ways we wouldn’t have a Black Lives Matter movement if Black lives mattered in the classroom.” — LaGarrett King to NBC News

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Students should learn different arguments about how race affects America

“Presenting a single story about race — and pretending it's a holy writ — won’t make students more aware or informed; it will instead make them into cynics who mouth the right incantations when we say the word. Our job is to teach them to ask questions of the universe, not to answer the questions ourselves. Let’s see if we can summon the courage to do it, even in our own very dangerous time.” — Jonathan Zimmerman, Inside Higher Ed

When you treat Black history as a secondary part of history, you reduce its importance

“As long as we continue to treat these as addendums to a larger American narrative, we’re failing these kids in large part because we’ve reduced these histories to second-class status.” — Julian Hayter to NBC News

We must retrain teachers to teach about race

“Until teacher education programs conduct an overhaul of their content to be more inclusive and accurate, what happens at the school level will always be negligent.” — Dionne Grayman to Washington Post

Parents have a responsibility to teach children about race from an early age

“We cannot lose sight of the responsibility parents have in challenging outdated assumptions about people of color, racism and bigoted language. Parents are a crucial part of the education system. They cannot be left out as schools proceed through this deeply important project of fostering racial justice in our children ... As parents, we are our children’s first teachers.” — Coda Rayo-Garza, San Antonio Express News

Teach the history of the construction of whiteness to fully understand race

“We need to know that the construction of whiteness has its own history. That history includes white people who think of themselves as individuals without a meaningful racial identity as well as white nationalists and Klansmen parading around in theirs.” — Nell Irvin Painter, NBC News

Senator Tom Cotton Roasted After Defending Slavery As ‘Necessary Evil’
JULY 27, 2020 BY MICHAEL STONE
Facebook
Twitter

Racist: Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton is in hot water after defending slavery as a “necessary evil” while arguing against a school curriculum based on the New York Times’ “1619 Project” initiative.

Cotton, speaking with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, declared:

"The 1619 Project is left-wing propaganda. It’s revisionist history at its worst. It won’t be much money. But even a penny is too much to go to the 1619 Project in our public schools. The New York Times should not be teaching American history to our kids.

"We have to study the history of slavery and its role and impact on the development of our country because otherwise we can’t understand our country.

"As the Founding Fathers said, it was the necessary evil upon which the union was built, but the union was built in a way, as Lincoln said, to put slavery on the course to its ultimate extinction."

Cotton’s claim that slavery “was the necessary evil upon which the union was built” was immediately met with outrage and anger.

In an attempt at damage control, Cotton has since tried to distance himself from the remark. On Twitter Cotton called reports quoting his claim concerning the necessity of slavery “the definition of fake news.”

Cotton’s facile attempt at damage control fails. His words are clear. The grammar of the sentence leaves no room for doubt. While it is true that Cotton used his reference to the Founding Fathers to bolster his claim, the fact remains that he is the one claiming that slavery was “the necessary evil upon which the union was built.”

Bottom line: Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton is being roasted after defending slavery as “the necessary evil upon which the union was built.”

TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THE TWITTER RESPONSES HE GOT.

Perdue’s campaign blamed an outside vendor and described the altered photo as an “unintentional error” that was caused when a filter was applied.

According to the Jewish news site the Forward, which first reported on the ad, the black-and-white photo of Ossoff was “changed by having his nose lengthened and widened, even as other parts of his face stayed the same size and proportions.”

As Dr. Anthony Fauci prepared to throw out the first pitch of MLB’s season, President Donald Trump broke some baseball news of his own.
Trump announced in the middle of a COVID-19 press briefing last Thursday that he had been invited to throw out the first pitch at a New York Yankees game. He would do so on Aug. 15, a date that saw the rival Boston Red Sox visiting Yankees Stadium.

It turns out that announcement was news to the Yankees, according to a New York Times report published Monday.
But Trump had told reporters that he got the invitation directly from Yankees president Randy Levine, a longtime Trump supporter who was once rumored to be a candidate to serve as his chief of staff.

Trump Spending 9-in-10 Ad Dollars on States He Won
July 28, 2020 at 6:27 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

President Trump is spending 92% of his advertising money to keep states he won in 2016, playing a game of defense in areas a Republican incumbent should be able to count on, Bloomberg reports.

“The spending data paints a very different picture than Trump himself, who boasts that he’s in strong shape for re-election and that a string of recent polls showing Biden leading comfortably are wrong. For an incumbent president to be defending so many once-friendly states is a sign of trouble.”

A special education teacher near Tulsa, Oklahoma, said she is haunted by the fear that she “signed my own death warrant” by voting for Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

And Op-ed published in USA Today on Thursday, Nancy Shively, a self-described lifelong Republican, condemned the president’s push to reopen schools during the coronavirus pandemic — with in-person instruction beginning this fall — as well as his threats to withdraw federal funding from those that don’t.

Shively, who is over 60 and has two autoimmune diseases, said she was “terrified” by the idea of returning to class in a matter of weeks.

Republicans Who Attacked Obama on Ebola Now Defend Trump
July 28, 2020 at 7:08 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“In the run-up to the 2014 midterm elections, Republican David Perdue excoriated President Barack Obama over his handling of the Ebola outbreak — contending that Obama had ‘failed to lead’ and ‘took a serious threat far too lightly,'” CNN reports.

“Six years later, Perdue, a first-term senator, is on the ballot again in Georgia — and now is running on the same ticket as a president struggling to get control of a virus far more deadly to the country.

“But Perdue has praised Donald Trump, even as the president has
repeatedly downplayed the coronavirus,
contended it would disappear,
called on states to be ‘liberated’ as they were trying to isolate from the virus,
was late to embrace mask wearing
and has falsely claimed that more testing is the lone reason for more cases.”

Said Perdue: “It’s a totally different situation.”

@TheDemocrats, by contrast, are willing to order your businesses shut as long as possible to maximize the virus narrative to push for mail-in voting (aka-fraud).
Dem voters- are you getting it yet?

The left has done to this country everything that they feared and dreaded Donald Trump would do when he was elected.

Because it's not "my" projection but their own internal polling that has them scared s-less.

uh huh.

and you and goddard have a secret pipeline into this internal polling. a pipeline manned by anonymous people whose identity is secret except to a select few like you, goddard and haberman.

top. secret. internal. polling.

that would be secret polling of the internal variety.

Barr Heads to Capitol Hill
July 28, 2020 at 7:35 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“Attorney General William Barr will travel to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for his first congressional testimony in more than a year, and lawmakers are prepared to press for explanations on the federal response to nationwide protests of police killings of Black Americans and the handling of criminal cases involving President Trump’s allies,” the New York Times reports.

“The hearing before the House Judiciary Committee is certain to be tense and likely one of the final congressional oversight showdowns of Mr. Trump’s first term.”

Trump’s Opposition to Mail Ballots Hurting GOP
July 28, 2020 at 7:26 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“Republicans once dominated voting by mail in Florida. But that was before President Donald Trump got involved,” the AP reports.

“After months of hearing Trump denigrate mail-in balloting, Republicans in the critical battleground state now find themselves far behind Democrats in the perennial push to urge their voters to cast ballots remotely. While Democrats have doubled the number of their voters who have requested mail ballots compared to 2016, Republicans have increased their numbers by about 20% since then.

“The recent tally is the hard evidence confirming many Republicans’ fears about Trump’s tweeting about mail-in voting:
GOP voters are listening and appear less likely to take advantage of what many election and health officials agree is the easiest and safest way to vote in a pandemic.”

Twitter Pulls Misleading Video Shared by Trump
July 28, 2020 at 7:24 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Twitter pulled a video making false claims about the novel coronavirus after it was shared by President Trump, CNN reports.

The video showed doctors touting the controversial anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine as “a cure for COVID” and doubting the effectiveness of wearing masks.

Hey rat hole....maybe you can elucidate why trumps poll numbers are tanking???????

"elucidate" BWAA?

my, what a big word from a golden corral dweller.

believe those polls at your peril, BWAA.

the left has a long history of bullshitting itself and it's base when it comes to polling.

see: dukakis, michael or clinton, hillary.

and it's possible, in fact it's highly likely, that every trump supporter who's being polled has gotten the memo and is lying through their fucking teeth.

A Trillion-Dollar Staring Contest
July 28, 2020 at 7:50 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Playbook:
“High-stakes legislative debates aren’t always battles of ideas. They don’t necessarily test the power of persuasion. They’re staring contests between powerful political leaders who are trying to humiliate their opponents, and squeeze as much out of them as possible while seeking to achieve a political and policy victory that’s palatable to the majority of their internal constituency — their colleagues — and their external constituency, the voters.

“No one excels at these affairs like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker Nancy Pelosi — the respective party leaders. And no one has watched from the sidelines and admired the negotiating game — and longed to get in it — like Mark Meadows, the former House Republican from North Carolina and current White House chief of staff.

“Washington is now kicking off what’s shaping up to be a real cliffhanger over another round of coronavirus relief 98 days before Election Day.”

Key takeaway:
“The general consensus of aides in both parties,
on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue,
is that Democrats have a healthy negotiating edge.”

Well now, isn't that nice to know.

Here’s the guys involved. I just have to ask. @andymstone, what business does Facebook have overruling the medical expertise of licensed doctors who’ve seen hydroxychloroquine work in patients and in studies? Is Facebook unilaterally deciding what science or medicine is accurate?

About the same Cocid-19 credentials as VERY lo iq's media intern who drove a Zamboni. How the hell do these guys get to determine the "truth" and allow Facebook to perform censorship?
