Biden offers nothing of substance in acceptance speech...
Even his most avid supporters are pleading with him to move out of his basement, become engaged in the campaign, and address the country with something specific. But the questions remain as to whether or not he is actually capable of moving beyond a teleprompter.
The Biden campaign is making many of the same mistakes that the Clinton campaign did. They seem to be playing as if it's the fourth quarter, they have a three touchdown lead, and all they have to do is not give up the big play. But as the saying goes, the "prevent defense" many times "prevents" the team that is leading from actually winning.
I still believe that a vast majority of the voters want more than just Biden to "not be Trump" which is basically the strategy at this point. Think of it like buying an older used car back when you were buying older used cars. The problems you had with your own car were known and mostly acceptable. But fear of what "might" be wrong with another car that obviously will have issues keeps you with the "thing you know".

LOL He sure does a much better job of using a teleprompter than Trump has ever managed to pull off.
Trump's handlers desperately wish they could get him to stick to his scripted speech and avoid the little asides and ramblings that get him into so much trouble.
Sure Reverend...
Because being President of the United States is about how well you read a speech off a teleprompter. And let's be honest. Compared to Obama or people who "can" give speeches, slow Joe is miserable.
This was quite possibly the shortest acceptance speech in history (what was it 20-25 minutes)... why do you suppose that was?
Unlike Trump who rants on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and....?
"May history be able to say that the end of this chapter of American darkness began here tonight as love and hope and light joined in the battle for the soul of the nation.
--And this is a battle that we, together, will win. I promise you."

Bidens handlers literally whisk him away to non-existent "other events" and he has been coached to avoid giving any response ("we are not taking questions"). He is even given a script on who to call on the few times he has allowed questions.
WHO'S WORRIED ABOUT GETTING INTO TROUBLE ???
ROFLMFAO !!!
Sorry Reverend...
If giving "speeches" is how you judge which person to vote for, then that is just a limitation of your ability to judge people with any sort of competency.
Secondly, if you actually believe that the reader's digest condensed version of a nomination acceptance speech Biden gave last night was some sort of powerful force that changed the focus of the election... well then, again Reverend... that's just on your judgement.

What actual policies of Biden/Hoe bring the Nation together?
President Trump Approval number rise during the Dystopian Democrat Convention.
It was a masterful speech.
This week we saw a path forward to a better nation for all.
Next week we will see fear and anger from every direction.
Most Americans want a better and normal life, not an America of fear and hatred.

What a phenomenal speech by Joe Biden. I’m proud to be supportive of him and Kamala.

Amen! It's wonderful to contemplate having a President who is a real human being again, a caring, upstanding, decent and compassionate person.

And the 13 year old kid who stuttered, but he was happy that Joe Biden helped him!
---Instead of going backwards, we are moving on!
You didn't even watch it.
Instead you looked at the White House site and his Twitter account.
Dan Rather's reaction last night:
The cadences and words of Joe Biden tonight reminded me of the politics of the past, politicians I covered in an age of wide ties and wide lapels. It was a throwback to a time, when some of us (the Vice President, and myself) were much younger and many of voting age today weren't even born.
It may not have been in the style of Cicero, or Barack Obama. But in its own way, it had a strength that summoned the best of American ideals and spoke movingly of this nation's potential if we can rally in unity. It was plain-spoken and delivered in a way true to the man that those of us who have covered him over the decades have seen on and off camera. This nation has witnessed the gaudy sugar rush of a reality TV construction that betrayed a cynical and divisive attack on the American narrative. This speech clearly staked out an opposing topography of decency and empathy.
Of all the speakers at the convention, I suspect Biden could have benefited most from a live audience. But the empty hall spoke of the times in which we find ourselves, which are, in turn, one of the most potent rationales for his candidacy. And it also allowed for an intimacy of delivery and impact.
Biden's words, and more importantly, his delivery, was a refutation of some of the character attacks that have been lobbed against him by the president and his acolytes. Biden was sharp, and focused. But perhaps most importantly, he exuded the basic humanity that has been heralded throughout the convention.
This was not a policy address. There were no 22-point plans, no arching multifaceted outline of legislative activities. It was about a man who wanted to make the case that he would put the needs of the nation ahead of himself.
Joe Biden's path to this moment, in politics and in his personal life, has had immense and heartbreaking hurdles. He touched on that tonight. But more than that he looked straight into the camera and into the eyes of the American people. He seemed to say, I am the man who can understand your pain and I am the man who will roll up his sleeves to make sure we can have better days ahead. Together. As Americans.
Well said, Dan Rather!
And yes, he did look right into our eyes and into our hopes, our dreams, our souls, and we looked into his.
‘An Ally of the Light, Not the Darkness’
August 20, 2020 at 11:39 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
“Joe Biden on Thursday condemned the grim and divisive path that he asserted President Trump has set the country on, pledging in his acceptance speech of the Democratic presidential nomination to be a leader for all Americans, rather than playing only to his base,” Politico reports.
Said Biden:
“Here and now I give you my word. If you entrust me with the presidency, I will draw on the best of us, not the worst. I will be an ally of the light, not the darkness.”
And here's a reaction this morning of a GOP pollster. (I guess he watched some other speech than the one Ch claims to have seen.)
GOP Pollster Sees ‘Significant’ Challenges for Trump
August 21, 2020 at 9:39 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Longtime Republican pollster Frank Luntz complimented Joe Biden’s convention acceptance speech, telling CNBC the former vice president succeeded in changing the narrative and toeing the line between both ideological factions of his party.
Said Luntz:
“The Democrats are trying to make this a referendum on Donald Trump, not his policies, not the issues, but on Donald Trump himself.”
He added:
“I do believe that Joe Biden is ahead, and I do believe the challenges for Donald Trump are significant.”
YEP. SIGNIFICANT!
“While I'll be a Democratic candidate, I will be an American president. I'll work hard for those who didn't support me, as hard for them as I did for those who did vote for me,” Biden said, adding, "I will draw on the best of us, not the worst of us. I will be an ally of the light, not the darkness."
He spoke to the middle class construction trades and said that we will build a better America. The infrastructure was a masterful reach out to middle class Americans who want a better America than the deeply divisive President who spreads fear instead of hope
Ch says he sees
"nothing of significance"
SIGNIFICANT! says GOP pollster.
LOL
You keep spreading the message from the President, that Biden is sleepy Joe.
Using a teleprompter is no evidence of incompetence, it is a party line.
Trump on Trial
August 21, 2020 at 9:33 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
The Washington Post excerpts Trump on Trial, a new book that
“lays out the backstory and aftermath of President Trump’s impeachment,
including how his alarm-raising request to a foreign country centered on one person —
his political rival Joe Biden.”
The book concludes Trump may never have been impeached had he not been worried about facing Biden in the presidential election.

Trump on Trial: The Investigation, Impeachment, Acquittal and Aftermath

I think the big difference is obvious when you look at it hard...
Dementia Joe can appear to be emotional and caring, when he talks about things like family, loss, and personal stuff. He seems stiff, detached, and almost robot like when he talks about the issues. It's like he goes from talking from his heart, to then just reading off a teleprompter.
It's night and day.
It might make him appear like a real person who cares about life... but as a politicians he seems like it's just party line rhetoric. He makes little effort to hide it. He makes it out as if this is just about replacing the bad orange man with someone else.
Hey... if that's your only goal as a Democrat... to replace Trump with someone you personally like more. Then Democrats could have picked almost anyone.
Trump will not go out and talk much about his family or his personal life. He won't provide heartwarming stories, and to the degree he does it will appear a little out of character (which might actually make it somewhat appealing).
But where Trump does display his emotions, his passion, and his raw personality is actually talking about the issues. Talking about the things he has accomplished or wants to accomplish. Whether it's somewhat symbolic (like his wall) or something more tangible (like his executive actions on Covid relief) he is "all in" on what he does. He's not just reading off a laundry list of things provided to him by a focus group and his advisors.
His "realness" is in his Presidency more-so than in his personal life. As much as people want to deem him to be selfish and self absorbed, by all tangible objective measures... he cares more about policy (to a degree that is almost immeasurable) than Biden and most Democrats do.
You see that passion in someone like Bernie. We know very little about Bernie Sanders as a person. His wife's name, his kids, his close friends. What do we know? But we know what he stands for as a Politician.
Everyone knows Joe. We know his wife, his kids, way too much about a Senator/VP out of the public eye for the past four years. What we have no clue about is what sort of politician he really is. What does he (or what has he ever) really care or cared about. Segregation? Being against school bussing? Taking a knee because it's what his Party is doing today?
That is the difference...
and anyone honest would admit that... even you liberals.
so nothing, ok.
Simple, tell us what Slow Joe and The Hoe will actually do.
Chicago Mayor uses COPS the build a safe zone.
For her life.
Trump once in the campaign said that, unlike Obama, he would never use a teleprompter.
If he never had,
he would be in even worse trouble now.
“While I'll be a Democratic candidate, I will be an American president. I'll work hard for those who didn't support me, as hard for them as I did for those who did vote for me,” Biden said, adding, "I will draw on the best of us, not the worst of us. I will be an ally of the light, not the darkness."
Dementia Joe is the party line
Dementia Scott A**hole squared
We do know a bit about Trump's personal life, his disgusted wife, his dysfunctional family, his porn mistress...

The 13 year old kid made me cry
If you really want to see some reading without conviction, watch Trump on those moments when he really does read what his handlers have provided for him to read from the teleprompter.
His heart ain't in it.
Rolling Blackouts in CA continue.
Green Energy failure.
Roger how much of CA. is imported from States burning dependable coal to keep CA out of the dark?
A sizable portion of the electorate are determined to vote AGAINST Trump even more than they are going to vote FOR anyone else.
That's just a fact that polls strongly indicate.
And if that were true of Biden, the Republicans would sure try to exploit it.
But what is wonderful is this:
Biden can "exploit" it just by authentically being Biden.
You guys are just disappointed, frustrated, and furious.
You had hoped Biden would really flub up, look weak, stutter, lose his train of thought, mispronounce words, have trouble reading, etc.
Didn't happen.
It was a masterful speech, masterfully delivered.
Biden says he will seek to be a President for ALL Americans (something which Obama, Bush, Clinton, and other Presidents have also said).
Trump doesn't even pretend to try to do that.
DeJoy: “The only change I made is that, ‘The trucks should leave on time.’ Theoretically, everyone should have gotten their mail faster.”
Cutting overtime and destroying sorting machines doesn't make mail delivery faster.
He lied under oath
The Republican Senator from Wyoming is not happy with DeJoy
DeJoy claims that he had no idea that mailboxes and mail sorting machines were being removed.
He lied under oath
yawn@alky and Jane.
President Trump, who has repeatedly railed against mail-in voting, says he has concerns about in-person voting as well, and wants to use law-enforcement as poll watchers on Election Day.
He will use Sheriffs to intimidate minority voters
Wow...rogerand James working very hard here trying keep bob dole 2020 propped up.
Scott A**hole is out of his mind.
Fox news praised the speech
Fox News's Chris Wallace praises Biden's speech: "I thought it was an enormously effective speech. Remember, Donald Trump has been talking for months about Joe Biden as mentally shot ... I thought that he blew a hole, a big hole in the characterization." https://t.co/sChU4jBzw2
“While I'll be a Democratic candidate, I will be an American president. I'll work hard for those who didn't support me, as hard for them as I did for those who did vote for me,”
Well his boss did zero work over eight years for people who didn't support him. He did everything he could do to shut his dissenters out.
I have no faith that Dementia Joe cares about any Trump voter or what they want in this country.
At the very least Trump can point to what was positive improvement in many lives of people who voted for Hillary (prior to Covid which sucks for everyone).
Do you really expect ANYONE to believe that Dementia Joe will act differently than Obama did, or that he cares about Trump voters any more than Hillary did (she loved those deplorables).
Nonsense
He was the main sponsor of the violence against women bill
I have no faith whatsoever that the President cares about anyone else but himself.
If you really want to see some reading without conviction, watch Trump on those moments when he really does read what his handlers have provided for him to read from the teleprompter.
His heart ain't in it.
Well that goes to my point, doesn't it?
Trump will be passionate about what he believes in... and dispassionate about how he might be "told" to act from his "handlers". That is exactly the point I am making.
You find being obedient to focus groups, political advisors hoping to secure election votes, and party line to be what a good politician is about.
That is exactly what most people find unappealing, if not disheartening regarding politics.
most people want someone who has passion for what they believe and don't just stick their thumb up to the wind to see which way it is blowing today.
Difference between your theories and mine.
Obama rescued the country from the worst recession since the Great Depression, under another Republican President.
Bill Clinton did the same thing. He created 21 million jobs are reduced to deficit to almost zero
Fact check =TRUE

You keep following the party line, when you said "told" to act from his "handlers"
Real leaders take advice from others who have more knowledge about certain events and historical events, are true leaders.
For example during the Cuban missile crisis, JFK was advised to fire nuclear weapons, but the other men who understand the Soviet Union, and Gorbachev and the President agreed to withdraw missiles from Turkey and the Russians withdrew the missile from Cuba.
A nuclear war would have destroyed the planet.
Trump refuses to listen to his advisers on anything and follows his impulsive decisions

Leaders lead... they might take advice from time to time, but people will not follow someone who has no thoughts of their own and they certainly won't follow someone who cannot maintain a consistent set of values and beliefs over time.
Ronald Reagan won 49 states. They say he never had to change his campaign stump speeches. It was exactly the same speech he gave to Californians that he gave to Minnesotans that he gave to New Yorkers that he gave to Texans.
People understood that what Ronald Reagan stood for is what "he" stood for and that he wasn't pandering to the lowest common denominator in every room he went.
Sure, Reagan no doubt had advisors and people who assisted in getting things done. But he didn't have a room full of people telling HIM what HE stood for that particular day.
There is no way that you lead by following. You lead by leading and inspiring people. That takes, at the very least, some semblance of believably and conviction in your job.
You got your directions from the President
In 47 years, Joe did none of the things of which he now speaks. He will never change, just words!
The President refuses to read the daily intelligence briefings.
He has fired every single person who dared to tell him negative information on Vladimir Putin.
Ronald Reagan had experts to help him to make important decisions.
Unless you won't believe any negative about about this President, you can't make rational comments.
Leaders lead... they might take advice from time to time, but people will not follow someone who has no thoughts of their own and they certainly won't follow
You Lil Schitty have never been a leader or had one in your life!!!!!!!! Very sad to really know you are a worthless dheeple of the GOP of trump....the biggest loser evah!!!!!!!!
John Meacham
What he's saying: "This is a grave moment in America. A deadly virus is ravaging us. Our jobs are evaporating. Our democracy is under assault from an incumbent more interested in himself than he is the rest of us," Meacham said.
"If we live in hope, we open our souls to the power of love. We've been taught to love our neighbors as ourselves. As individuals and as a nation, however, we fail at following that commandment more often then we succeed."
"But when we fail, we must try again and again and again, for only in trial is progress possible. From Jamestown forward, our story has become more full and fair because of people who share the conviction that Dr. King articulated on that Sunday half a century ago."
"The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice. Bending that arc requires all of us. It requires 'We the People.' And it requires a president of the United States with empathy, grace, a big heart and an open mind. Joe Biden will be such a president."
He not a partisan historian. He said that the President is the greatest threat to the country in history.
I'm going to post the link to his speech last night but Scott won't watch it because he's close minded

Biden will lead us forward!

Scott didn't watch the speech. He depends on Faux News and Breitbart News etc.
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy denounced QAnon after a candidate who previously embraced the conspiracy theory won a GOP primary in Georgia, becoming the highest-ranking congressional Republican to publicly condemn the unfounded theory.
“Let me be very clear. There is no place for QAnon in the Republican Party. I do not support it and the candidate you talked about has denounced it."
I tweeted the link to Scott

Biden made an amazing speech of acceptance of the Democratic nomination. America began its rise tonight...and will take it to the next level on the day we elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. My first thoughts were founded in the negativity of the last 3 and a half years. Tonight I'm positive rather than negative. Hope has returned.
