By Thomas L. Friedman
For once, I am going to agree with President Trump in his use of his favorite adjective: “huge.”
The agreement brokered by the Trump administration for the United Arab Emirates to establish full normalization of relations with Israel, in return for the Jewish state forgoing, for now, any annexation of the West Bank, was exactly what Trump said it was in his tweet: a “HUGE breakthrough.”
It is not Anwar el-Sadat going to Jerusalem — nothing could match that first big opening between Arabs and Israelis. It is not Yasir Arafat shaking Yitzhak Rabin’s hand on the White House lawn — nothing could match that first moment of public reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.
Under normal circumstances, this sort of story would dominate the headlines for several days, if not weeks, with analysis and opinion and discussion panels all trying to determine what exactly this sort of breakthrough means for the Middle East.
But, alas, the President that would be responsible for brokering such a deal is not Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, or Joe Biden.... but rather Donald Trump. The fact that NYT columnist Thomas Friedman is willing to provide some kudos to the President tells you exactly how important this actually is.
Moreover, this would be the sort of election fodder that would propel a sitting candidate into the proverbial driver's seat in a normal election year. Of course, many people are focused on other things, like supporting Anitfa destroying cities while liberal local leaders order their police to stand down, or upset about whether or not farmers in North Dakota are wearing a mask.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are apparently more interested in reviving the Charlottesville riots as a point of interest, for god knows what reason other than to attempt to once again repeat the debunked hoax that Trump believes that KKK members are "good people". But I suppose if that is all you got, then that is all you got.
Quite literally here folks, we are looking at possibly the largest step in recent history towards resolving the Israeli Palestinian problem that has been going on for decades (or longer). This is something that most every President has worked towards and not achieved. This is the legacy that Bill Clinton and others dreamed of.
But almost nobody in our lame stream media cares to bring it up?
Why... because they can't stand giving credit to the bad orange man for anything.

The fact that kudos are given disproves what you all the time try to claim. That people hate Trump just because they hate Trump. They hate Trump because the overwhelming majority of his policies are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.
In this case, he finally managed to stumble at least partially into what Democrats have wanted all along. Less annexation of lands meaning that there is still at least some small chance (not much any more) for a two state solution, which is the only viable course both for Israel and the Palestinians.
In this case, he finally managed to stumble at least partially into what Democrats have wanted all along.
LOL.
the exact opposite is true.
nice try trying to take credit, you drooling fucking retard.
0linsky's "contribution" was his searing, visceral hatred of Israel, and funneling BILLION$ to the mullahs in iran who seek to "wipe Israel from the face of the earth."
The Arab Peace Initiative that Biden cited was proposed by Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah at the 2002 Arab League Summit in Beirut, Lebanon, endorsed by that summit, and later endorsed at the 2007 summit in Riyadh. It called for full Israeli withdrawal from Golan Heights, which would leave Israel vulnerable to attacks from above it, withdrawal from the Biblical Judea and Samaria, where the ancient Jewish kings were crowned, and withdrawal from East Jerusalem, which includes the Temple Mount, the site of the Biblical temples, and for Jews, the holiest place on earth.
As it turned out, Israel never compromised on those issues, and yet the UAE has made peace, so Biden’s citation of the Arab Peace Initiative to buttress his claim that the Obama administration had anything to do with the deal is ludicrous.
But in one sense, Biden is correct, albeit not for the reasons he cited. The Obama administration, by its support for the theocratic, despotic Iranian regime, the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, triggered Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia to link with Israel as all four countries were aware of the Iranian threat to all of them.
Obama’s contempt for Israel was expressed in numerous ways. Michael Oren, who served as Israel’s U.S. ambassador from 2009 to 2013, wrote that while Obama spoke with Jeffrey Goldberg, whom Oren described as Obama’s “conduit on all things Israel-related,” Obama “warned Israel of its growing isolation in the world and vulnerability to boycotts.” Goldberg told Charlie Rose, “I took it to be a little bit of a veiled threat,” adding that he interpreted the words as Obama’s way of saying, “nice little Jewish state you got there, I’d hate to see something happen to it.”

The Obama administration, by its support for the theocratic, despotic Iranian regime, the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, triggered Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia to link with Israel as all four countries were aware of the Iranian threat to all of them.
And Obama's funding of terrorism with his last minute delivery of pallets of cash to Iran, his allowance for ISIS. and his interference into Israeli politics was typical of his failed policies.
And when Trump moved our consulate to Jerusalem leftist pundits said that would end any hope for peace in the region and was a grave, stupid mistake.
Boy are they failures.
Kerry is probably on a plane to Iran this minute to tell them don't worry. Biden will stop this nonsense.
Israel's well being depends on a viable two state solution.
Richard Grenell
@RichardGrenell
.
@JoeBiden’s statement on the historic peace deal fails to include any reference to his appeasement of Iran.
Giving pallets of cash to the Regime in Tehran was an epic disaster for our Arab partners and US security.
Thank God, @realDonaldTrump cleaned up Biden’s mess.
What's even more upsetting for liberals is that much of this was brokered by Jared Kushner, whom most liberals feel is unqualified to be a Presidential advisor.
Of course Kushner is Jewish (something that surprises many liberals who insist that Trump is also an anti-semite along with everything else). Friedman (who wrote the article) is also Jewish.
But at the end of the day, most 2020 liberals prefer to side with Palestine and prefer to be antisemitic (while simultaneously accusing others). People like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are openly antisemitic much to the pleasure of many of your "progressives" who have taken to supporting Palestine (much like the Minnesotans who decide to root for the Packers because they think it makes them rebels).
And yes... as Rat pointed out. Our previous President spent eight years taking us in the opposite direction than we had always gone and are currently going today. If Biden becomes President, I would suspect we might see more secret payments to Iran and more support for anti-Israel countries in that area.
You are ignoring the rule of law and the country is at risk.
President Trump admits to purposely hamstringing our elections, and he doesn't care: “If we don’t make a deal that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it. Sort of a crazy thing,” Trump said on Thursday.
“The president of the United States is sabotaging a basic service that hundreds of millions of people rely upon, cutting a critical lifeline for rural economies and for delivery of medicines, because he wants to deprive Americans of their fundamental right to vote safely during the most catastrophic public health crisis in over 100 years,” Andrew Bates
Even if he loses the election,he will refuse to leave office.
US Postal Service removes mailboxes in Portland
This morning, in an interview with Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, Trump came out and said it: he wants to starve the United States Postal Service to destroy mail-in voting. Claiming that mail-in voting favors Democrats, he said:
*********“Now they need that money in order to make the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots... Now, if we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting, they just can’t have it.”*********

total bullshit.
Israel's well being depends upon the US being a strong and loyal ally, and also Israel taking a fiercely strong posture for their own security.
i never hear Israel chanting "Death To Palestine!!!" but the drumbeat of "Death To Israel!!" is constant from the palestinians and iran. things could be peaceful if only the religion of pieces would cut the shit. Israel has a right to exist. acceptance of that fact goes a long way to establishing peace in the region.
And the "Death to America" chants from Biden/Kerry friends in the region are quietly ignored.
Especially by those with TDS.
President Donald Trump says he has "heard" Democratic candidate Kamala Harris "doesn't qualify" to serve as US vice-president, amplifying a fringe legal theory critics decry as racist.
She was born in the US to a Jamaican father and Indian mother in Oakland, California, on 20 October 1964.
As such, she is eligible to serve as president or vice-president.
For years, Mr Trump promoted a false "birther" theory that ex-President Barack Obama was not born in the US.
Ms Harris, a California senator, was named on Tuesday as the first woman of colour to serve as running mate on a main-party US presidential ticket.
In the midst of the worst medical crisis in history, he is closing down the postal service to suppress voter rights
in the midst of the worst medical crisis in history, US citizens are free to shop, get on an airplane, dine out, worship and RIOT, among other things.

Roger , got a quote of the two Perverts actually saying "people over 5 years old"?
I am sure you do.
Even liberals found the argument is a great deal
Biden said that the governors should mandate mask requirement
We all depend on the postal service everyday. I can't believe some people are so ignorant to the fact that Trump and Republicans are trying and have been for some years now to destroy the postal service. We send money, legal documents, even medicine and don't give it a second thought, we don't here anyone screaming the postal service will deal are mail. But now that people want to send a ballot for voting with the USPS, oh my God we can't trust the postal service. This is bullshit, all they want to accomplish is lower the number of people voting. Big cities or a battle field on the other side of the world snow rain they deliver.

"The 14th Amendment doesn’t say that all persons born in the U.S. are citizens. It says that '[a]ll persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof' are citizens. That second, critical, conditional phrase is conveniently ignored or misinterpreted by advocates of 'birthright' citizenship," von Spakovosky wrote. "Critics erroneously believe that anyone present in the United States has 'subjected' himself 'to the jurisdiction' of the United States, which would extend citizenship to the children of tourists, diplomats, and illegal aliens alike."
However, von Spakovosky argued, "It is just plain wrong to claim that the children born of parents temporarily in the country as students or tourists are automatically U.S. citizens: They do not meet the 14th Amendment’s jurisdictional allegiance obligations. They are, in fact, subject to the political jurisdiction (and allegiance) of the country of their parents. The same applies to the children of illegal aliens because children born in the United States to foreign citizens are citizens of their parents’ home country."

Campus Reform asked Eastman to respond to claims that his op-ed is rooted in racism and birtherism. He called those claims “nonsense.”
“I have been doing scholarly work on this subject long before Kamala Harris came into the mix,” said Eastman. “And unlike the ‘birtherism’ claims against Obama, I did not challenge the fact of her birth in Oakland. Indeed, my article specifically acknowledges that. The issue, then, is simply a legal one. Are the children born to parents who are on only temporary visitor status (such as on a student visa) automatically citizens under the 14th Amendment?”
Eastman acknowledged that the answer to this question is simply “a factual issue to which I do not know the answer.”
He “quite explicitly noted that if either of her parents had acquired lawful permanent residence status by the time of her birth, then she would be a citizen pursuant to the Supreme Court’s holding in the Wong Kim Ark case.”

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) has some concerns about the resulting service delays. She's facing a tough battle for her Seat in the Senate
"I write to request that you promptly address the delays in mail delivery that have occurred following recent operational changes at the United States Postal Service (USPS)," Collins said in a letter to DeJoy on Thursday, released soon after Trump laid out his opposition to funding for the USPS that Collins supports. "Following these operational changes," she wrote, "Mainers are experiencing delays in delivery of needed prescriptions, personal protective equipment, such as masks, and payments sent through the mail. While I support efforts to improve the USPS's financial condition, I am concerned that the reported changes will have the opposite effect, reducing service to the public and driving away customers."

According to a Trump's lawyer. Trump's Mother was an immigrant and his father is the son of immigrants, so by Prof Eastman's argument Trump's father wasn't a US citizen and since he married an immigrant that makes Trump ineligible to be President.

Your low double digit IQ is very apparent in everything you say
So now we know: Sweden got it largely right, and the British establishment catastrophically wrong. Anders Tegnell, Stockholm’s epidemiologist-king, has pulled off a remarkable triple whammy: far fewer deaths per capita than Britain, a maintenance of basic freedoms and opportunities, including schooling, and, most strikingly, a recession less than half as severe as our own.
Our arrogant quangocrats and state “experts” should hang their heads in shame: their reaction to coronavirus was one of the greatest public policy blunders in modern history, more severe even than Iraq, Afghanistan, the financial crisis, Suez or the ERM fiasco. Millions will lose their jobs when furlough ends; tens of thousands of small businesses are failing; schooling is in chaos, with A-level grades all over the place; vast numbers are likely to die from untreated or undetected illnesses; and we have seen the first exodus of foreigners in years, with the labour market survey suggesting a decline in non-UK born adults.
Pandemics always come with large economic and social costs, for reasons of altruism as well as of self-interest. The only way to contain the spread of a deadly, contagious disease, in the absence of a cure or vaccine, is to social distance; fear and panic inevitably kick in, as the public desperately seeks to avoid catching the virus. A “voluntary” recession is almost guaranteed.
But if a drop in GDP is unavoidable, governments can influence its size and scale. Politicians can react in one of three ways to a pandemic. They can do nothing, and allow the disease to rip until herd immunity is reached. Quite rightly, no government has pursued this policy, out of fear of mass deaths and total social and economic collapse.
If the Israelis agree to cease the annexation of heavily populated Palestinians areas, this treaty may be the greatest historical event in modern history.
If it works out, the President should get the Nobel Prize

The president’s acknowledgement that he is deliberately sabotaging an institution established in the Constitution to steal the election provoked outrage. He is tampering with an election by attacking mail-in voting even as he and Melania Trump have requested mail-in ballots for themselves. And the USPS does not simply handle ballots, it also handles many aspects of our lives: packages, medicines, and so on—things vital to our economy and way of life. “When the president goes after the Postal Service, he’s going after an all-American, highly approved-by-the-public institution,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said.

Trump will die in prison
President Donald Trump told Fox Business on Thursday morning that he would block additional funding and election assistance for the US Postal Service to sabotage mail-in voting.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Trump said he would not sign off on any relief bill that includes emergency federal funds for the USPS and more money to process election-related mail.
"They want $25 billion — billion — for the post office. Now they need that money in order to have the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots," Trump said on Thursday, adding, "But if they don't get those two items, that means you can't have universal mail-in voting."

We Welcome Agreement to Suspend De Jure Annexation Plans, Normalize Israel-UAE Ties
We welcome today’s announcement that Israel is suspending plans to annex parts of the West Bank
and that the United Arab Emirates and Israel are taking steps to establish more normalized ties.
This decision by Prime Minister Netanyahu signals a major retreat from repeated threats to carry out de jure annexation,
and indicates that efforts to oppose annexation -- in Israel, the US and around the world --
have achieved significant success.
Annexation would be disastrous for Israeli security and democracy and for Palestinian rights.
Clarification will be needed that this is not simply a short-term suspension of a disastrous idea,
and the United States and the international community should be demanding that Israel commit permanently not to proceed with any unilateral annexation.
The agreement between Israel and the UAE to move toward fully normalized ties is also welcome news for all who wish to see a stable and prosperous Israel living in peace and security alongside all of its regional neighbors.
It is just the latest evidence that dialogue and diplomacy, rather than unilateral action and belligerence, are the route to long-term security.
Comprehensive peace between Israel and its neighbors in the Arab world, however,
will only be achieved through an agreement that resolves the issues at the core of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
and leads to the establishment of a viable and independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.
Steps toward normalization with the UAE are a positive development, but no substitute for a full and comprehensive agreement, bringing peace to Israel and its neighbors.
Finally, while it is good that de jure unilateral annexation is apparently off the table for the immediate future,
the harmful reality is that creeping, de facto annexation continues every day unabated.
Those who seek a real and lasting peace and security for Israel and its neighbors must continue to advocate for
an end to occupation,
settlement expansion
and ongoing violations of the rights of the Palestinian people -
even if the threat of formal annexation is halted.
