Since a grand whopping total of 31 children under 15 have died from Covid... it's not exactly a child killer. Sometimes being factually correct is better than hyperbole.

But then again... you are probably one of the Americans who believes that 9% of Americans have died from Covid. So not like you care about facts. Pretend that kids are dropping like flies and the President is being insensitive about it.

After all... can Democrats win without lying?

Roger , is this your "Peace in Portland"?

"Protesters reportedly threw rocks and chunks of concrete at Portland officers Friday night after authorities declared an unlawful assembly.

“Despite the public address announcements, the crowd continued to block traffic on East Burnside Street and several continued to trespass on the Kelly Building property,” the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) said in a news release Saturday."

Anonymous said...

"At 10:05 p.m., certain members of the group began taking concrete pieces off of a retaining wall nearby the Kelly Building. These people then smashed the concrete on the ground into smaller pieces which were thrown at officers. Certain people in the crowd shined lasers at officers, which can cause permanent eye damage. Several public address announcements were made regarding this criminal behavior, however it continued for a couple more hours.

As the crowd continued to refuse to disperse from the area of the Kelly Building, targeted arrests were made. A person who was taken into custody was arrested wearing ballistic body armor"

How even owns bullet proof vests, other the LEO's and US Military, oh and Alky's peaceful protestors.

After stalled negotiations with Democrats over Coronavirus Relief Trump signed two orders to keep unemployment benefits, prevent evictions, further stimulate the economy.

The propaganda ministry for the Democrats when nuts. They ask about the delay if Democrats were to sue to stop the benefits.

Trump simply said he doesn't think the benefits will be delayed. Leave unsaid the dare for Democrats to actually sue.

Well he was not going to give the Democrats a series of measures the would essentially legalize vote fraud. And he wasn't about to release violent felons from jail nor bail out states that are in trouble because of Democrat leadership fiscal irresponsibility. Nor allow any other measure that had nothing to do with coronavirus relief.

The Democrat's bill was one big poison pill and they never had any intention to negotiate in good faith. They wanted the issue for the election but Trump outflanked them.

BEDMINSTER, N.J. (AP) — Seizing the power of his podium and his pen, President Donald Trump on Saturday bypassed the nation's lawmakers as he claimed the authority to defer payroll taxes and replace an expired unemployment benefit with a lower amount after negotiations with Congress on a new coronavirus rescue package collapsed.

At his private country club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump signed executive orders to act where Congress hasn't. Not only has the pandemic undermined the economy and upended American lives, it has imperiled the president's November reelection.

Perhaps most crucially, Trump moved to continue paying a supplemental federal unemployment benefit for millions of Americans out of work during the outbreak. However, his order called for up to $400 payments, one-third less than the $600 people had been receiving. Congress allowed those higher payments to lapse on Aug. 1, and negotiations to extend them have been mired in partisan gridlock, with the White House and Democrats miles apart.

Trump largely stayed on the sidelines during the administration’s negotiations with congressional leaders, leaving the talks on his side to chief of staff Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.

Trump’s embrace of executive actions to sidestep Congress runs in sharp contrast to his criticism of former President Barack Obama’s use of executive orders on a more limited basis. And the president’s step-back from talks with Congress breaks with his self-assured negotiating skills.

Watching Republicans walk off a proverbial cliff is stunning and stupefying at the same time. It is stunning because of their inability to appreciate the future ramifications of their current victories. It is also stupefying because of the national shifts that could transform the party for the worse. There is no real plan from Republicans in Congress, other than to distract from the scandals and dismiss the cries from inside their political house.

The lore of Donald Trump might be that of a survivor who broke every rule imaginable while managing to avoid removal. But to the majority of voters, he is an uninformed, unprepared, and unsteady leader in the midst of our historic crisis. Republicans in Congress are slowly starting to say publicly what many have said privately to me for years. "He is a sinking ship that is going to bring the whole crew down if we do nothing about it."

Yet Republicans in Congress continue to do nothing about this. Symbolic gestures such as wearing masks despite erratic action from the president or pushing back on his calls to delay an election that few people think he can win come by every so often. However, the courage and criticism that many had expected in the wake of terrible numbers have failed to surface in any substantial fashion within the party in the recent months.

Instead, after record unemployment, atrocious death totals, and the kind of behavior reserved for cartoon characters, Republicans have stunningly and stupefyingly decided to stick with the president in their decision that voters will not forgive and forget. Make no mistake, voters are angry. More than 160,000 families will be without a brother, a sister, a mother, a father, or a friend on this Labor Day. Because of the failed White House response to the coronavirus, an estimated 200,000 families will set one less dinner out at Thanksgiving. This was an absolutely avoidable tragedy.

While the campaign of the president would like Republicans to believe it, this election is not like 2016. As some forecasters have noted, Joe Biden is polling better than Hillary Clinton at her peak. There is no magic rabbit for Trump to pull out of his oversize suit and change his political fortunes. The president and the party which he calls home are headed toward a decisive defeat. Republicans are so desperate they have even enlisted the celebrity in the midst of a mental breakdown to drain voters from Biden.

Rather than admit that they overplayed their hand and allowed the cultish character of Trump to take hold of the party, Republicans use diversionary tactics that are simply destined to further turn away suburban women and minorities, the same people who handed Democrats control of the House two years ago. The 2018 midterm election was not some outlier.

It was a warning to the party of Abraham Lincoln. The country is not better off with the outsider candidate from New York as our leader. It has instead become much worse off. Racial divisions are increasing, the economy has been cratering, and faith in institutions is at historic lows. If the president wants America to resemble Russia, his mission was a success. For the life of me, I do not understand why Republicans have allowed this to happen, especially those in the Senate who face election every six years.

If Republicans want to win, they must first lose. It is the only way to shake the stench of the last four years. Manifesting unyielding loyalty to the man whose loyalty is simply to himself seems to me nothing short of a political offense. Much like the response to the coronavirus, things did not have to be this bad for the party. Voters might forgive Republicans for this craven power grab. But what they will not forgive and not forget is their doubling down on this terrible behavior to back the president at all costs.

Walking themselves off a cliff is one thing. Walking the country off a cliff is another. Pain in this election for gain in the future is the only strategy that allows Republicans to come out of this era with their party standing. It will not be pretty, however, it is absolutely necessary to remain alive.

From a retired postal service worker
The deliberate crippling of the postal service by the Trump administration is unacceptable and horrific, especially since much of its work is essential.
“I am a retired US Postal Service worker. I spent 15 years working there on the workroom floor sorting mail on computerized machines that processed over 40,000 pieces of mail per hour. At other times I worked in CFS, the Computerized Forwarding System where changes of address and redirection of the mail took place. Sometimes I also worked in the manual cases where the mail that could not be processed by computer was sorted by hand. All of these jobs and more were meshed in a well-oiled machine that come rain or shine, etc. would get mail to its assigned destination in an assigned window of time.

The 2 highest priorities of the Service from the first day I worked there were 1) the sanctity of the mail, insuring that your mail would make its way to its destination without being read or stolen, with checks and even cash arriving safely. 2) that the mail would arrive in a TIMELY manner. We worked as quickly as we had to to achieve these company and individual goals. These priorities were pounded into our heads on a daily level and we took pride in working to carry out our mission. Postal Inspectors surveilled the floor from above on catwalks or with video to insure that the workers would not pilfer or read the mail.

The recent managed and deliberate slowdown of the mail runs totally against the soul and lifeblood of all postal workers I have known and also the present crew, which include tens of thousand of veterans and handicapped individuals. As a customer, I am 71 years old and living in an assisted living facility. I receive medication through the mail. In the past, my medications arrived in a structured, timely manner. In the past two weeks, my meds are running late pushing me to the point of running out. I take meds for atrial fibrillation and inhalers for COPD and I also have a pacemaker.
Without my meds, I would be first of all, on the edge of panic. I would also be putting my life at risk, notice I said life not health. There are also other important documents and licensed sent safely through this Constitutionally protected system. (Look it up).

Now for one of my biggest fears: With a corrupt puppet postmaster pulling the controls firing dedicated, experienced, honest management and replacing them with his own puppets and gumming up the wheels of organized, structured systems of 100’s of years of building into an efficient, reasonably priced communication there is a next step that is even more horrifying to me. That would be the power to open the mail and read our most precious thoughts and even use them against the powerful’s enemies. I’m sure with an incompetent puppet in charge, this may be the ultimate goal. I am sure that someone is slobbering in anticipation of reading the protected thoughts of all Americans. It brings tears to my eyes to watch the deliberate destruction of an American tradition and mainstay, the United States Postal Service. As a people, we must stop this patterned, planned destruction today, ASAP. Wake up; this is some scary sh**, people!”

One of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports looked at children with COVID-19 who needed hospitalization. Hispanic children were hospitalized at a rate eight times higher than white kids, and Black children were hospitalized at a rate five times higher, it found.

The second report examined cases of a rare virus-associated syndrome in kids. It found that nearly three-quarters of the children with the syndrome were either Hispanic or Black, well above their representation in the general population.

Trump shuts down briefing after he's fact-checked by reporter 02:53
Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump abruptly ended a Saturday news conference after a reporter challenged him on a lie about veterans health care he has told more than 150 times.

Trump, speaking at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club, had claimed again that he is the one who got the Veterans Choice program passed -- adding, "They've been trying to get that passed for decades and decades and decades and no president's ever been able to do it, and we got it done."
In fact, former President Barack Obama signed the Choice program into law in 2014. The law, which allowed eligible veterans to be covered by the government for care provided by doctors outside the VA system, was a bipartisan initiative spearheaded by two senators Trump has repeatedly criticized, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and the late John McCain of Arizona.

Trump gave the election to sleepy Joe Biden.

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday called President Trump's executive order to cut payroll taxes "a reckless war on Social Security."

One of the several orders Trump signed from his private club in Bedminster, N.J., Saturday afternoon directs the Treasury Department to allow employers to defer payment of employee-side Social Security payroll taxes through the end of the year for Americans making less than roughly $100,000 annually.

Trump also said that he intends to forgive the deferred payroll taxes and make permanent payroll tax cuts if he is reelected in November.

In an emailed statement addressing the president's order, Biden said that such a move would "undermine the entire financial footing of Social Security."

The presumptive Democratic nominee said that unlike the 2012 payroll tax plan put forth by the Obama administration, Trump's executive order does not appear to include "protections or guarantees that the Social Security Trust Fund will be made whole."

"He is laying out his roadmap to cutting Social Security," Biden said. "Our seniors and millions of Americans with disabilities are under enough stress without Trump putting their hard-earned Social Security benefits in doubt."

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Today, Trump announced that if he is re-elected he will permanently defund Social Security. That may make sense to the billionaires at his country club, but it makes zero sense to me.

No, Mr. President. We will not let you destroy Social Security. We will defeat you – badly.

What Trump signed was a 2018 law, the VA MISSION Act, that modified and expanded the eligibility criteria from the Choice program. Rather than tout that bill, Trump has claimed over and over that he created Veterans Choice itself -- after others had failed for "50 years."

"Why do you keep saying that you passed Veterans Choice?" CBS News White House correspondent Paula Reid asked Trump at the Saturday news conference, during which Trump announced executive actions on coronavirus relief.

As Trump tried to call on another reporter instead, Reid continued, "You said that you passed Veterans Choice. It was passed in 2014...it was a false statement, sir."

Trump paused, then responded: "OK. Thank you very much, everybody." He then walked away as the song "YMCA" played.

Trump had either never or almost never been challenged on the Veterans Choice claim before Reid did so.

Trump’s action on unemployment does not funnel additional money to the existing unemployment program, but instead creates a new program for “lost wages” that states will have to set up from scratch, said Michele Evermore, an unemployment expert at the National Employment Law Project.
