So is it a contest to see which group of rioters can be more random in what they destroy?

Kenosha car dealership targeted by rioters during overnight protest
A Kenosha, Wis., car dealership was targeted by rioters during protests overnight in the wake of the police-involved shooting of a Black man that was caught on video and circulated on social media.
The parking lot that typically stores a local business’s selection of used cars was instead filled with rows of the vehicles’ metal remains hours after rioters took to the streets in and around the city’s downtown area, according to several images shared on social media.

First of all, is there any reason to suggest that the cops did anything wrong? The video I saw showed a man suspected of domestic violence with a warrant out for his arrest, refusing to cooperate with the police, physically pulling away from them in a blatant and desperate attempt to garner something from the front seat of his car.

Take away the portion where the suspect is "black" and there would be NO rioting or protesting and there may not be much question as to why cops would shoot someone who is obviously not cooperating and potentially is reaching for a weapon.

But either way... what did the owner of the car dealership have to do with anything?

Seriously...  This is just fucking stupid and anyone supporting this bullshit should find a different country to live in.

I am opposed to senseless destruction of property anywhere, anytime. But I find it hard to believe that after all we have been through, police would shoot a black man SEVEN times in the back as seen in that video, and with children in the car.

Unless the police can make a convincing case that the man was reaching for a firearm, there seems no legitimate reason for doing that, even if he was being obstreperous and resisting arrest.

I understand that he in serious condition, but if he survives, he will be able to speak for himself.

Is it true that all of this centered around some kind of domestic dispute?

I do not pretend to know the full story, and this is just my reaction to what little I have seen or read so far.

There are many historical experts who believe that this President policies and divisive policies will get the Democrats in control for decades

In the last 80 years we had two eras. From FDR, until Saint Ronald Reagan.

Going back even farther, the Democrats were the supporters of the Confederacy, and Abraham Lincoln was a Republican.

The Dixiecrats were in control of the southern states, until LBJ signed the civil rights act, and he knew that the Democrats would lose the Southern states for decades and he was right.

If Biden is successful in moving the country into the future, it will last for decades.

He wasn't pull from the car when the shots were fired, they were fired the moment his hands disappeared behind the door.

I supposed you want them the wait until the cops were dead sure he had a gun. And that's what usually happens. The cops would be dead.

But you'll be happy.

The Republican Party Announces That It Stands For Nothing
The GOP will have no party platform. This is outrageous in the United States. Yet -- here we are.

Opinion by Editorial Board
August 24, 2020 at 12:03 p.m. MDT

IN RECENT years, people have tended to ignore or even gently deride the deliberations of party platform committees. All these arguments over arcane questions of policy, and for what? The nominee, if elected, won’t be bound by any of it.

True enough. Yet the Republican decision this year to adopt no policy platform whatsoever shines a light on the democratic significance of the exercise — and the alarming vacuity of the Republican Party under President Trump. The Republicans are announcing that they stand for nothing. The party’s only reason for being is to gain and retain power for itself and its comparably unprincipled leader. What kind of future can there be for such a party? And how healthy can the two-party system be if one party has no principles?

Leading up to the Democratic convention last week, supporters of former vice president Joe Biden spent hours debating with supporters of some of the candidates he had beaten for the nomination, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). They argued over health care, education funding, foreign affairs and more. They compromised at times, found new ground at times and hammered out a platform that the party could unite behind. If elected, Mr. Biden and Democrats in Congress won’t be bound by it, but the exercise will help shape their governing priorities. It was a useful democratic exercise.

The Republicans can’t risk such a debate. Many of the party’s senators and other leaders used to have principles, or at least claimed to. They believed in fiscal rectitude, free trade, limited executive power. Now they have fallen in line behind a president who believes in none of that. So, are they the party of managed trade, unbridled presidential power, unlimited debt? No one wants to say that. Instead, they define themselves as the party of Donald J. Trump.

As a result, you will hear a great deal at their convention this week about what Republicans are against: socialism, the cancel culture, unbridled crime, Marxism, the “deep state” and — oh, did we mention socialism? At times, their negative passion will be focused on real but exaggerated problems (murder rates have climbed in some cities); at times, the threats will be imagined. And because they believe in nothing, they can put up no resistance when deranged and dangerous conspiracy-mongers move in, as has happened in several GOP congressional primaries.

You also will hear that they are for Mr. Trump’s “America first” agenda. But what is that agenda? No one dares spell it out, because he doesn’t know. One day he is a huge admirer of Chinese dictator Xi Jinping; a bit later, Mr. Xi is the source of all evil. In a cult of personality, no one can afford to be caught still saying nice things about Mr. Xi after the official line has changed. So better to say nothing at all.

And in a cult of personality, the government itself becomes the property of the leader. He wants to give his acceptance speech on the South Lawn of the White House? He wants to use the country’s chief diplomat, the secretary of state, as one more political prop?

The party can only cheer its approval.

This happens far too often because there is a disproportionate amount of crime and social pathology in the inner city black communities.

This is direct due to liberal social and political policies that destroyed the nuclear family only to be replaced by street gangs.

When have more criminal and social pathology you have more interaction with the police.

Michael Cohen to Appear In Democratic Attack Ads
August 24, 2020 at 8:33 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

Michael Cohen will appear in a series of ads for the Democratic group American Bridge in the coming days, telling voters that Trump “can’t be trusted” and that they “shouldn’t believe a word he utters” during the Republican National Convention this week, CNN reports.

From a 90-second video:
“For more than a decade, I was President Trump’s right-hand man, fixer and confidant. I was complicit in helping conceal the real Donald Trump. In essence, I was part of creating an illusion. Later this week, he’s going to stand up at the White House and blatantly lie to you.

“I’m here to tell you he can’t be trusted — and you shouldn’t believe a word he utters.
So, when you watch the President this week, remember this:
If he says something is huge,
it’s probably small.
If he says something will work,
it probably won’t.
And if he says he cares about you and your family,
he certainly does not.”

“President Trump brought our economy back before, and he will bring it back again.”
— Former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley
Trump and his supporters often speak as if he took office in the middle of the Great Recession when, in fact, he inherited a pretty good economy. The United States added more than 250,000 jobs each month in 2014 and 227,000 a month in 2015. It added 193,000 a month in 2016, as Trump barnstormed the country saying the economy was in crisis.
In 2017, Trump’s first year in office, monthly job growth slowed to 179,000 per month. It jumped to 223,000 a month in 2018 — lower than under President Barack Obama in 2014 and 2015 — and fell back to 175,000 a month in 2019.
When in 2018, Trump proclaimed, twice in the same day, “an economic turnaround of historic proportions,” the United States had been adding jobs for 94 straight months, of which 18 were under Trump’s leadership

Three Maryland police officers were "ambushed" and shot while responding to a call Sunday evening, authorities said.

Prince George’s County police were responding to a reported home invasion around 6:30 p.m. in Hyattsville, a city about 32 miles southwest of Baltimore, Interim Police Chief Hector Velez said.

“Within minutes they arrived at the scene, and within seconds they came under gunfire,” Velez told reporters outside Prince George’s Hospital Center. “They were ambushed.”

Officers returned gunfire and took two men into custody unharmed, police said. The injured officers were expected to recover.

“The president quickly took action and shut down travel from China. Joe Biden and his Democrat allies called my father a racist and xenophobe for doing it.”
— Donald Trump Jr.
President Trump’s son overstates the impact of Trump’s actions. On Jan. 31, the president announced that, effective Feb. 2, non-U.S. citizens were barred from traveling from China, but there were 11 exceptions. Meanwhile, U.S. citizens and permanent residents could still travel from China but were subject to screening and a possible 14-day quarantine. Trump’s action did not take place in a vacuum. Many airlines were canceling flights, and by our count, at least 38 countries took similar action before or at the same time the U.S. restrictions were put in place.
The president frequently claims he took bold action that was criticized, but news reports say he was reluctant to impose the ban, citing his relationship with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, but the action was urged by his top health advisers. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar told reporters on Feb. 7: “The travel restrictions that we put in place in consultation with the president were very measured and incremental. These were the uniform recommendations of the career public health officials here at HHS.”
Whatever criticism there was was scattered and relatively muted. Trump points to a comment by former vice president Joe Biden — “This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia … and fearmongering to lead the way instead of science” — but Biden says that did not refer to the travel restrictions.
The virus was already spreading through the United States, and there is little evidence it saved lives, especially because the Trump administration did not rapidly set up an effective testing regime like many other countries.

Fact check

Summary
Speakers in the first night of the 2020 Republican National Convention engaged in political spin, particularly in making claims about Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s policy positions:

Several speakers at the convention misleadingly portrayed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which President Donald Trump signed, as exclusively benefiting the middle class, while criticizing Biden’s tax plan as hurting “working families.” The Republican law largely benefited the wealthy, while the Biden proposed tax increases would fall mainly on the top 1% of taxpayers.
Trump claimed Democrats want to get rid of postal workers, when Democrats have repeatedly tried over Trump’s objections to get $25 billion in emergency funding for the U.S. Postal Service.
Trump wrongly claimed, “It used to take 17 years, 18 years, 20 years, 21 years … to get approval to build a highway,” but that under his administration, “we have it down to two years.” The latest statistics show the same or a bit longer median time in fiscal 2019 for projects to complete the environmental impact process than it took during the last five years of the Obama administration.
Donald Trump Jr. said his father “built the greatest economy our country has ever seen.” Not true. Economic growth and job growth have been faster under previous presidents.
A number of speakers falsely claimed that Biden supported defunding the police, part of a campaign to depict the Democratic nominee as soft on crime.
Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel claimed that Democrats support policies “like banning fossil fuels” and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley suggested that a Biden-Harris administration would “ban fracking.” While some Democrats back such proposals, Biden has only called for prohibiting new oil and gas leases on public lands and waters.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones claimed that Trump “ended — once and for all — the policy of [mass] incarceration of Black people … caused by no other than Joe Biden.” But just as Biden’s 1994 crime bill alone isn’t responsible for mass incarceration, neither did Trump’s 2018 crime legislation end it.
Sen. Tim Scott also made the misleading claim that “revenues to the Treasury increase[d] after we lowered taxes in 2017.” That’s true in raw figures, but according to a Brookings Institution analysis, revenue in fiscal year 2018 was lower than in 2017 in inflation-adjusted dollars.
McDaniel also misleadingly said that Democrats support “[p]olicies that … allow abortion up until the point of birth.” Democrats generally back abortion rights, but Biden isn’t pushing to allow abortions for any reason up until birth. Only 1% of abortions occur after 21 weeks of pregnancy.
Donald Trump Jr. overstated the reach of the travel restrictions imposed by his father, saying he “shut down travel from China.” That ignores the exemptions that allowed tens of thousands of people to travel on direct flights from China to the U.S. in the months after the restrictions were imposed.
A Trump campaign advisory board member made the unfounded claim that if not for Trump’s “China travel ban, millions would have died.” The body of research on travel restrictions shows they can, if they’re very strict, delay the path of the spread of diseases but do little to contain them.
Trump Jr. and his girlfriend, Trump Victory Finance Committee Chair Kimberly Guilfoyle, falsely described Biden as an advocate for “open borders.” Biden says his border security focus would be on “high-tech capacity” and the ports of entry “where all the bad stuff is happening.”
Haley drew a false comparison in saying Biden “is good” for ISIS but Trump “took on ISIS and won.” About half of the territory held by ISIS, or the Islamic State, had been regained under the Obama administration, according to Trump’s own administration.
Missouri resident Patty McCloskey falsely suggested that Trump eliminated a federal regulation that “forced rezoning” in the suburbs. The 2015 Housing and Urban Development fair housing rule that Secretary Ben Carson announced he will terminate said it “does not impose any land use decisions or zoning laws on any local government.”

Several speakers at the convention misleadingly portrayed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which Trump signed, as exclusively benefiting the middle class, while criticizing Biden’s tax plan as hurting “working families.” In fact, the Republican tax law largely benefitted the wealthy, while the Biden proposed tax increases would fall mainly on the top 1% of taxpayers.

Sen. Scott, a Republican from South Carolina, said, “Joe Biden wants to come for your pocketbooks. … Unless, of course, you’re a blue state millionaire,” adding that “President Trump’s once-in-a-generation tax reform bill … lowered taxes for single moms, working families and those in need.” Similarly, Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend and chair of the Trump Victory Finance Committee, said, “President Trump cut middle-class taxes, putting tens of thousands of dollars back in the pockets of working-class Americans.”

Haley, a former South Carolina governor who was Trump’s U.N. ambassador, speaking of “Joe Biden and the socialist left,” said: “They want massive tax hikes on working families.”

The tax law Trump signed in December 2017 lowered many individual tax rates, nearly doubled the standard deduction, eliminated personal exemptions and increased child tax credits, among other changes. It also cut the top corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%.

It is true that all income groups, on average, saw an income tax cut under Trump’s tax cuts, and 82% of middle-income earners — those with income between about $49,000 and $86,000 — received a tax cut that averaged about $1,050 in 2018, according to an analysis by the Tax Policy Center at the time.

But the Tax Policy Center also found that the top 1% of taxpayers would receive 20.5% of the tax cut benefits in 2018 — increasing to 25.3% in 2025 and then jumping to 82.8% in 2027. (Most of the individual income tax provisions expire after 2025, but the corporate tax cut would remain in place, resulting in increasingly larger tax benefits to the top 1%.)

Biden proposes to raise an additional $4 trillion in taxes over the next decade, but the top 1% of earners would bear the brunt of Biden’s increases, according to the Tax Policy Center. The three main provisions of his plan include:

Imposing a payroll tax on earnings over $400,000
Restoring a top income tax rate of 39.6% for income above $400,000 ( the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act had lowered the rate to 37%)
Increasing the top corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%
“Almost 54 percent of the tax increase would fall on the top 0.1 percent of the income distribution,” according to an analysis of Biden’s plan by the Penn Wharton Budget Model. The top 1% would see an average tax increase of about 40%, according to the Tax Policy Center.

Trump Jr. on the ‘Greatest Economy’

He looked like he was high on cocaine
Donald Trump Jr. said his father “built the greatest economy our country has ever seen,” which isn’t true.

Job growth actually slowed under Trump. The economy added nearly 8.1 million jobs during the three years before Trump took office, and 6.6 million in Trump’s first three years as president.

Overall economic growth hasn’t been exceptional either. The best year of Trump’s presidency saw 3% growth in real (inflation-adjusted) gross domestic product, according to recently revised figures from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. That fell short of the 3.1% growth seen as recently as 2015, during then-President Barack Obama’s best year. As recently as 2004 and 2005, under George W. Bush, the economy grew 3.8% and 3.5%.

Trump Jr. began by saying that until recently the country was seeing the “greatest prolonged economic expansion in American history.” That’s true, but the historic boom began under Obama seven-and-a-half years before Trump took office, in June 2009, and ended just three years into the Trump presidency, in February 2020.

The expansion (as determined by the nonpartisan, independent National Bureau of Economic Research) lasted 128 months, topping the previous record expansion of 120 months. That one began late in George H. W. Bush’s term, ran the entire eight years of Bill Clinton’s presidency, and ended two months into the first term of Bush’s son George W. Bush.

The elephant in the room at Monday’s convention, so to speak, was the more than 177,000 Americans who have died in the coronavirus pandemic. The death toll went unmentioned, as did the number of Americans who have contracted the virus, approaching six million.

In a taped segment introducing a panel of health care workers and first responders, Trump made clear that he believes he bears no blame for the number of Americans who have perished or been infected by the virus.

“These are the incredible workers that helped us so much with the COVID. We can call it many different things, from China virus, I don’t want to go through all the names, because some people may get insulted, but that’s the way it is.”

Later, Trump Jr. said the virus had come to the U.S. “courtesy of the Chinese Communist Party.”

A taped montage showed Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, downplaying the threat of COVID-19 early in the outbreak, and Democratic governors, including Andrew Cuomo of New York and Phil Murphy of New Jersey, thanking Trump for his assistance in fighting the pandemic — something Trump explicitly made a condition of disbursing federal help.

A registered nurse from West Virginia who relocated to New York in April to help fight the virus, Amy Johnson Ford, denounced Cuomo, saying, “His lack of action made my job treating patients who had their worlds turned upside down that much harder.”

By contrast, “President Trump recognized the threat this virus presented for all Americans early on, and made rapid policy changes,” Ford said. “And as a result, telehealth services are now accessible to more than 71 million Americans, including 35 million children.” (Trump in fact has predicted repeatedly that the coronavirus would miraculously disappear on its own)

Trump Jr. said, “Biden also wants to bring in more illegal immigrants to take jobs from American citizens,” as if that were Biden’s goal. He added that Democrats are “attacking the very principles on which our nation was founded: freedom of thought, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the rule of law.” Even Trump Jr.’s more aspirational messages were repeatedly punctuated by warnings about what Democrats would do. Cuban American immigrant Maximo Alvarez, in an impassioned speech, suggested Democrats and possibly even Biden are secretly putting the country on a path to communism.

A Parade of Dishonesty

“The Republican National Convention started off with a parade of dishonesty, in stark contrast with last week’s Democratic convention,” CNN reports.

“While CNN also watched and fact-checked the Democrats, those four nights combined didn’t have the number of misleading and false claims made on the first night of the Republicans’ convention.”

Said former deputy attorney general Donald Ayer:
“I think a lot of us are extremely alarmed, frankly, at the threat of autocracy. He’s going to be unleashed if he gets a second term. I don’t know what’s going to stop him.”

Republicans Portray Democrats as Menace to America
August 25, 2020 at 6:15 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“Republicans began their nominating convention Monday with dark denunciations of Democrats and warnings about a future controlled by ‘radical liberals,’ while praising President Trump’s stewardship of the country, including his handling of the coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 173,000 Americans,” the Washington Post reports.

New York Times:
“And they laid out a dystopian picture of what the United States would look like under a Biden administration, warning of a ‘vengeful mob’ that would lay waste to suburban communities and turn quiet neighborhoods into war zones.

“At times, the speakers and prerecorded videos appeared to be describing an alternate reality:
one in which the nation was not nearing 180,000 deaths from the coronavirus;
in which Mr. Trump had not consistently ignored serious warnings about the disease;
in which the president had not spent much of his term appealing openly to xenophobia and racial animus;
and in which someone other than Mr. Trump had presided over an economy that began crumbling in the spring.”

Jewish Neighbor of Gun Wielding Couple Speaks Out
August 25, 2020 at 8:31 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“When Rabbi Susan Talve heard that Patricia and Mark McCloskey would be among the speakers addressing the Republican National Convention, she decided she could no longer stay quiet,” The Forward reports.

Said Talve: “It’s so upsetting that they have a national audience.”

“The McCloskeys are Talve’s neighbors. Their property’s northern wall abuts the property of St. Louis’ Jewish Central Reform Congregation, where Talve is the rabbi.”

“In 2013, the synagogue placed beehives along the wall to produce honey for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. One morning they found the hives destroyed and all the bees dead. Mark McCloskey had taken an ax or sledgehammer to them.”

“His issue? The fence between them sat six inches inside the McCloskey’s property line. The hives were his to wreck.”

But Dems are especially vulnerable this year because they have put so much effort into turning out urban voters. The party, seized by identity politics, is supporting Black Lives Matter and Biden's pick of Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate was part of an effort to bolster the turnout among both women and nonwhites.
One result is that Biden has refused to condemn the violence sweeping through the nation's urban areas, at least in part because that would be tantamount to calling for the police to crack down. And that, in turn, would infuriate the Black Lives Matter movement, which is Marxist and anti-police.

That's not a problem on the GOP side. Speaker after speaker, including black ones, applauded the police and condemned the violence.

Trump's decision to try to compete is actually in keeping with his inaugural address. Then he talked of the 'carnage" in much of America, including its cities, and focused on boosting the economy and creating jobs for the underclass.

He succeeded wildly. For much of last year, unemployment rates for black and Latino Americans hit record lows, and wage increases were often higher, percentage-wise, at the bottom and middle than at the top of the economic ladder.

In short, Trump has a record of creating jobs for nonwhite Americans that any Democrat would die for. And now he's looking for their votes, a hunt complicated by the pandemic that has taken so many jobs...

KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — The father of Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, says his son was left paralyzed from the waist down.

Blake’s father told the Chicago Sun-Times that he was told his son was shot eight times during the Sunday evening confrontation with police, which was captured on cellphone video and led to two nights of unrest in the city between Milwaukee and Chicago.

The father, who is also named Jacob Blake and who was driving from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Kenosha to be with his son, told the newspaper that he learned Sunday night that officers had shot his son eight times and that he saw the now-viral video of it online a few minutes later that appears to show police shoot his son in the back.

He said his son now has “eight holes” in his body and is paralyzed from the waist down, though doctors don’t know if the paralysis will be permanent.

Nikki Haley lied about Democratic positions on health care.

"They want a government takeover of health care," she said at the Republican National Convention on Monday.

Facts First: This is true of some Democrats, but it's not a policy Joe Biden supports. While he does advocate broadening the government's involvement in the nation's health care system, he does not back so-called "single payer" programs like Medicare for All, which were pushed by others in the primary.

While Biden has agreed to back lowering the Medicare eligibility age to 60, from the current 65, as a concession to the party's progressive wing, he is not a supporter of Medicare for All, which would have essentially replaced the private health insurance system with a single, government-run plan. That idea was pushed by Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

Biden would also increase the federal subsidies in Obamacare so more middle-class Americans could afford to buy coverage.

His running mate, Kamala Harris, shifted her positions during her short campaign -- at times strongly backing Medicare for All. But when she eventually unveiled her health care plan, it also included a role for private insurance companies. However, she now supports Biden's proposal.
