Bad news for Biden...

Protests move to Pittsburgh, PA

It's one thing to have blm rioting and otherwise breaking the law with impunity in liberal strongholds like Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, and the like. It's quite another for them to start their uprising in battleground states, where every bit of polling and common sense shows that these sorts of violence and overbearing actions have run their course. These people won't like it coming to their town and they will not (as much as the left would like) blame it on Trump.

A vote for law and order and putting some degree of normalcy back into the lives of average citizens is going to be a vote for Donald Trump every day, and twice on Tuesdays (pun intended)!

Total U.S. coronavirus deaths this morning: 188,941.

Vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) will make her first campaign appearance in battleground Wisconsin at an event in Milwaukee today, while Vice President Mike Pence heads to western Wisconsin.

Harris is a former state prosecutor.

Pence has no experience with the law enforcement.

The polls show that Biden has a strong lead.

The President's trip last week hasn't helped him

Trump, who avoided military service by citing a bone spur in his foot, has disparaged veterans who were wounded or captured or went missing in action and even compared his fear of sexually transmitted diseases to the experience of a soldier, saying in 1993, “if you’re young, and in this era, and if you have any guilt about not having gone to Vietnam, we have our own Vietnam. It’s called the dating game.” Scam!

Even some Republicans have been showing a conscience.

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy is privately encouraging voting by mail and warned President Trump the party could be "screwed" by his fight against mail-in voting.

The big picture: "We could lose based on that," McCarthy (R-Calif.) told me at a diner in Salt Lake City last week, during a campaign swing that began in the Pacific Northwest. McCarthy said the party can't afford for Republicans to sit home, afraid of getting COVID-19, while Democrats flood the field with mail-in ballots.

McCarthy is particularly worried about deterring senior citizens.
McCarthy said he's spent hours telling Trump that this preoccupation will hurt the president's own re-election, as well as Republicans running for Congress.

"I tried to show him ... you know who is most afraid of COVID? Seniors. And if they're not going to go vote, period, we're screwed," McCarthy told me.
The other side: Trump trashes mail voting in part because he sees the messaging as good cover if he loses to Joe Biden in November, sources close to the president’s re-election campaign tell Axios.

Last week, Trump even encouraged supporters in North Carolina to violate the law and vote twice — through the mail and in-person — to test the process.

We Found the Video Of President Trump Talking About Wounded Soldiers

“In his book, Mr. Cohen says Mr. Trump personally approved the payment to Stormy Daniels in 2016, saying $130,000 ‘is a lot less than I would have to pay Melania.’ Mr. Cohen also recounts Mr. Trump musing that, if it got out, his supporters might ‘think it’s cool that I slept with a porn star.’”

Amid the clamor, it’s easy to overlook those who are not yelling, those who are keeping silent. Where are the senior officers of the United States armed forces, serving and retired—the men and women who worked most closely on military affairs with President Trump? Has any one of them stepped forward to say, “That’s not the man I know”?

How many wounded warriors have stepped forward to attest to Trump’s care and concern for them? How many Gold Star families have stepped forward on Trump’s behalf? How many service families?

The silence is resounding. And when such voices do speak, they typically describe a president utterly lacking in empathy to grieving families, wholly uncomprehending of sacrifice and suffering.

‘I got very lucky’

Years later, Trump repeatedly congratulated himself and others for avoiding military service. Appearing on the Howard Stern radio show in 1995, he said that “during the Vietnam War, I got very lucky. I had a very high lottery number.”

Stern responded that a member of his staff, whom he referred to as Jackie the Joke Man, “convinced the doctor that he had a bad knee. I love that.”

“Well, that was a good job, Jackie,” Trump said.

Trump’s aversion to service reportedly filtered into his own family. In her book, Mary L. Trump wrote that when Trump’s son, Don Jr., said he might join the military, Trump and his then-wife Ivana, “told him if he did, they’d disown him in a second.”

He told his son to avoid the military service. Because he would not be making money.

"...even as Mr. Trump attempts to win over states that were once reliably blue, he is also imperiled in traditionally red-tinted states that have been hit hard by the pandemic, like Florida and Arizona. A Trump strategy that is aimed at driving racial polarization in the Midwest could backfire in more heterogeneous states in the South and West.

"With those dynamics in mind, at least two pro-Biden groups have approached Michael R. Bloomberg, the billionaire former presidential candidate, about the possibility of funding an enormous blitz against Mr. Trump in Florida, arguing that delivering the state’s 29 Electoral College votes to Mr. Biden would effectively end the election. Mr. Trump’s weakness with older voters has made him acutely vulnerable in a state where affluent retirees have been a cornerstone of the Republican coalition.

"But aides to Mr. Bloomberg have so far demurred, explaining that the former New York City mayor has not approved any plans for spending money in the presidential race, people involved in the conversation said.

"Still, the possibility of a knockout in the Sun Belt is enticing to Democrats, particularly as surveys from both parties continue to show Mr. Trump at risk in red-tinted states like Georgia. Sam Park, a Georgia Democratic state legislator who spoke at Mr. Biden’s convention, said the campaign had signaled that it planned to contest the state seriously in the final two months of the race, the first time a Democrat has done so this century.

“'If folks in Georgia turn out, Georgia turns blue,' Mr. Park argued, 'and we see that opportunity, particularly given how diverse this state is.'”

Trump Campaign Has Money Problems

September 7, 2020 at 12:06 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 83 Comments

“Money concerns are very real for President Trump’s campaign — an unusual predicament for a sitting president, and one that worries veteran Republican operatives, with Trump so far behind in swing states as the race climaxes,” Axios reports.

“The campaign’s view is that Trump will get his message out, and he depends less on paid media than normal politicians. But the number of states Trump has to worry about has actually grown, and Joe Biden’s massive August fundraising haul has given his campaign a lift as early voting begins.”

The AP reports the Trump campaign had pulled most TV ads over the previous week, ceding the airwaves to Biden, who was outspending Trump by more than 10 to 1. [!!!!!!!!]

New York Times:
“The light television spending and advertising blackouts in some key states have mystified allies.”

DOVER, Del. - Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden received five student draft deferments during the Vietnam War, the same number of deferments received by Vice President Dick Cheney, and later was disqualified from service because of asthma that he suffered as a teenager.

Officials with Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's campaign released Biden's Selective Service records at the request of The Associated Press. Less detailed records were available from a National Archives facility in Philadelphia.

According to the documents, Biden, 65, received several deferments while he was an undergraduate at the University of Delaware and later as a law student at Syracuse University. A month after a physical exam in April 1968, Biden received a Selective Service classification of 1-Y, meaning he was available for service only in the event of national emergency.

"As a result of a physical exam on April 5, 1968, Joe Biden was classified 1-Y and disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager," said David Wade, a campaign spokesman.

+ From 1964 to the end of 1973, 34.2 million Americans registered for the draft. Of those, 1.8 million men were drafted, but not all went to Vietnam. Over the course of the war, about 8.8 million men saw active duty during the entire Vietnam era.

+ Under draft regulations, all men ages 18 to 25 were required to register with the Selective Service System, generally on their 18th birthday. Men could be drafted any time from age 19 to 26. Draft boards were set up in each community with power to grant or deny requests for exemptions, called deferments.

+ One of the best-known deferments was for students. A high school student could defer being drafted until he graduated or reached the age of 20, whichever came first. A college student could defer the draft on a year-to-year basis provided he made satisfactory academic progress. Beginning in 1971, the deferment was changed so that a student could only postpone service until he'd finished the semester in which he was enrolled.
__________

During much of the Vietnam war, virtually all US college and university students received deferments.

“Jobs and G.D.P., by contrast, sort of are the economy. But they aren’t the economy’s point. What some economists and many politicians often forget is that economics isn’t fundamentally about data, it’s about people. I like data as much as, or probably more than, the next guy. But an economy’s success should be judged not by impersonal statistics, but by whether people’s lives are getting better.”

The Mayo Clinic on herd immunity.

However, there are some major problems with relying on community infection to create herd immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19. First, it isn't yet clear if infection with the COVID-19 virus makes a person immune to future infection.

Research suggests that after infection with some coronaviruses, reinfection with the same virus — though usually mild and only happening in a fraction of people — is possible after a period of months or years. Further research is needed to determine the protective effect of antibodies to the virus in those who have been infected.

Even if infection with the COVID-19 virus creates long-lasting immunity, a large number of people would have to become infected to reach the herd immunity threshold. Experts estimate that in the U.S., 70% of the population — more than 200 million people — would have to recover from COVID-19 to halt the epidemic. If many people become sick with COVID-19 at once, the health care system could quickly become overwhelmed. This amount of infection could also lead to serious complications and millions of deaths, especially among older people and those who have chronic conditions.

John Gruber points out footnote 1823 of the Senate Intelligence Committee report on Russian interference in the 2016 election which refers to testimony from Michael Cohen describing a night he spent with Donald Trump in Las Vegas in 2013:

“It’s a club that puts on shows, and you never really know what the show is going to be. In this specific case they brought out a young man who was in a leotard body suit, who, to me, I would diagnose him as a thalidomide baby. And he was blind as well, but he sang like Pavarotti. And while he was singing — I forget the song, it was like a ‘God Bless America’-type song — there was a woman who was in a thong bikini, who was large, performing sex acts on him while he was singing. Interesting, because I was with Mr. Trump at the time. It was not really a place I expected to be with him at. He looked over to me when he was finished, and I’ll never forget this, he looked me right in the face. He goes, ‘That’s a tough way to make a living.’”

Herd immunity (or community immunity) occurs when a high percentage of the community is immune to a disease (through vaccination and/or prior illness), making the spread of this disease from person to person unlikely. Even individuals not vaccinated (such as newborns and the immunocompromised) are offered some protection because the disease has little opportunity to spread within the community.

Vaccines prevent many dangerous and deadly diseases. In the United States, smallpox and polio have both been stamped out because of vaccination. However, there are certain groups of people who cannot get vaccinated and are vulnerable to disease: babies, pregnant women, and immunocompromised people, such as those receiving chemotherapy or organ transplants. For example, the earliest a baby can receive their first pertussis or whooping cough vaccine is at two months, and the earliest a child can receive their first measles vaccine is at one year, making them vulnerable to these diseases.

We are going to have to reach a level of exposures or develope a vaccine. Opening and shuttering, opening and shuttering will not prevent this. You are simply delaying the inevitable

“Mr. Trump was neither in the embassy nor in Germany that day — and yet there he was. His face was emblazoned on banners, T-shirts and even on Germany’s pre-1918 imperial flag, popular with neo-Nazis in the crowd of 50,000 who had come to protest Germany’s pandemic restrictions. That was June pedo, here’s 2 months later

As other countries face renewed outbreaks, Sweden’s latest Covid-19 figures suggest it’s rapidly bringing the virus under control.

“That Sweden has come down to these levels is very promising,” state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell told reporters in Stockholm on Tuesday.

The Health Agency of Sweden says that since hitting a peak in late June, the infection rate has fallen sharply. That’s amid an increase in testing over the period. “The curves are going down and the curves for the seriously ill are beginning to approach zero,” Tegnell said.

The development follows months of controversy over Sweden’s decision to avoid a full lockdown. The unusual strategy coincided with a much higher Covid-19 mortality rate than elsewhere in the Nordic region. Per 100,000, Swedish deaths even exceeded those in the U.S. and Brazil.

— President Trump, quoted by CNN.

LOOK AGAIN, DONALD:

According to a recent poll in the Military Times,
active duty service members FAVOR JOE BIDEN
over Boss Trump in the upcoming election,
41-37.

Given that a poll on the same date in 2016 showed Trump favored by 20 points over Hillary Clinton, this looks like a significant shift.

Almost half of uniformed soldiers
(49.9%) have an unfavorable opinion of Trump,
compared to 38% favorable,
which is marginally WORSE than his reputation among civilians.

MY GOODNESS! AND THIS WAS EARLIER THAN HIS RECENT COMMENTS.

BAD NEWS FOR TRUMP

How Trump’s Campaign Lost Its Cash Advantage

September 7, 2020 at 7:57 pm

New York Times:
“Money was supposed to have been one of the great advantages of incumbency for President Trump, much as it was for President Barack Obama in 2012 and George W. Bush in 2004.

"After getting outspent in 2016, Mr. Trump filed for re-election on the day of his inauguration — earlier than any other modern president — betting that the head start would deliver him a decisive financial advantage this year.

“It seemed to have worked. His rival, Joe Biden, was relatively broke when he emerged as the presumptive Democratic nominee this spring, and Mr. Trump and the Republican National Committee had a nearly $200 million cash advantage.

“Five months later, Mr. Trump’s financial supremacy has evaporated. Of the $1.1 billon his campaign and the party raised from the beginning of 2019 through July, more than $800 million has already been spent.

"Now some people inside the campaign are forecasting what was once unthinkable:
a cash crunch with less than 60 days until the election.”

Oh, DONTCHA FEEL JUST SO SORRY FOR THE DONALD?

John Bolton denies claim Trump disparaged fallen American soldiers in France: 'Simply false'

Former national security adviser John Bolton disputed the main thesis of The Atlantic's recent report alleging that President Trump disparaged fallen American soldiers in France, calling the claim "simply false" in an appearance on "The Story" Monday.

According to what that article said, the president made disparaging remarks about soldiers and people buried in the cemetery in connection with the decision for him not to go to the ceremony that was planned that afternoon, and that was simply false," Bolton said

Bolton is just one of 15 people who went on the record to deny that ever happen. But all the news outlets are using the same cowardly anonymous sources while ignoring the 15 people who went on the record. That's not journalism. It is propaganda for the Democrats.

Ignoring Health Experts, Joe Biden And Kamala Harris Spread Anti-Vax Conspiracy Theories

"A coronavirus vaccine is a key part of returning America to normal and making our economy great again, and that’s why President Trump is working hard to deliver a safe and effective coronavirus vaccine for the American people as soon as possible. Multiple public health experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, have been saying for months that Operation Warp Speed is free from political interference and that they would take the vaccine as soon as it is ready.

The same can’t be said for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who are spreading fear, fueling anti-vax conspiracy theories, and actively trying to undermine the public’s confidence in the vaccine. “Who’s going to take the shot? Are you going to be the first one to say sign me up, they now say it’s OK?” Biden told Americans this week. When CNN asked Harris if she would take the vaccine once it’s approved, she refused to answer. “Well, I think that’s going to be an issue for all of us. I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump,” she said."

No anonymous sources, Biden and Harris themselves went on the record with their conspiracy theories but all you hear from the media is crickets.

THE CORNER
WHITE HOUSE
Jeffrey Goldberg’s Story Is Believable; It Should Not Have Been Published

Email this article

President Donald Trump delivers his acceptance speech as the 2020 Republican presidential nominee during the final event of the Republican National Convention on the South Lawn of the White House, August 27, 2020. (Carlos Barria/Reuters)
Jeffrey Goldberg, editor in chief of The Atlantic, has authored an incendiary story about President Donald Trump. It accuses him of calling fallen soldiers “suckers” and “losers,” and of refusing to visit a military Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France because of that opinion. Of reacting to the death of Senator John McCain — a war hero tortured by the North Vietnamese — by declaring “we’re not going to support that loser’s funeral” and asking of flags at half-mast “What the f*** are we doing that for? Guy was a f***ing loser.” Of saying of wounded veterans “nobody wants to see that.”

It quotes an unnamed retired four-star general as saying “He can’t fathom the idea of doing something for someone other than himself. He just thinks that anyone who does anything when there’s no direct personal gain to be had is a sucker. There’s no money in serving the nation.” In fact, come to think of it, there are no named sources in the piece.

And therein lies the rub. Many of the claims made in Goldberg’s piece are not even remotely difficult to believe. Trump is on the record trashing Gold Star parents. He’s on the record, as Goldberg notes, dismissing McCain’s service and expressing his preference for “people who weren’t captured.” That record makes me lean toward believing that the parts about him trashing McCain are probably true. Other parts are less convincing, however. As Jim Geraghty points out in the Morning Jolt, Trump has done numerous events with wounded veterans during his time in office and has never given off an impression of disgust, and those moments have often been among the most humanizing of his presidency. The dearth of named sources and contrasting background evidence means that anyone who says with 100 percent confidence that all of the incidents described did or did not happen is probably driven by confirmation bias.

NEWSTrump Declares Obama, Biden Should Be Jailed For ’50 Year Terms For Treason’: ‘They Spied On My Campaign’
ByGuardians of Democracy StaffPublished on September 7, 20201 Comment

President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden, claiming both men deserve to be sentenced to a 50-year prison sentence for “treason” because he falsely claims they “spied on my campaign trying to defeat me.”

“USA Today, my question is about the Durham report, which you have talked about recently. You said, ‘Let’s see what happens.’ Now, you have accused people of committing crimes against you during the Russia investigation – President Obama,” a reporter asked the president at a Labor Day press conference.

“Yeah, sure, sure. They spied on my campaign,” Trump interjected.

“My question -,” the reporter began to ask before Trump once again cut him off.

“They spied on my campaign, and if they were Democrats they would have been in jail two years ago, they would have been in jail, literally, if this side were -the Democrat side, they would have been in jail two years ago for 50-year terms for treason and other things,” Trump angrily declared.

But it begs the question, If it's believable, why not publish it.

Because deep down he knows the story is a tissue of lies.

Commonsense said...

Yeah, sure, sure. They spied on my campaign,” Trump interjected.

Fact check: True. The Obama administration did spy on the Trump campaign.

They spied on my campaign, and if they were Democrats they would have been in jail two years ago, they would have been in jail, literally, if this side were -the Democrat side, they would have been in jail two years ago for 50-year terms for treason and other things,” Trump angrily declared.

Fact Check: Exaggerated but essentially true. If Trump was a Democrat candidate and the Obama administration was a Republican administration, several senior members of that administration would already be in jail including the former vice-president, attorney general and the DNI as well as the FBI director, The one exaggerated part is the 50 year sentence.

Kamala Harris Flip-Flops on Fracking After Polls Tighten in Pennsylvania

A week ago, Joe Biden notoriously flip-flopped on his long-held anti-fracking position while campaigning in Pennsylvania, where fracking is a major industry.

“I am not banning fracking. Let me say that again: I am not banning fracking. No matter how many times Donald Trump lies about me,” Biden said.

Unfortunately for him, there was ample evidence that he’s promised to end fracking if elected president.

Now that polls have tightened, and Trump and Biden are tied in the state of Pennsylvania (a crucial swing state), Kamala Harris, who also campaigned on banning fracking, has also flip-flopped on the issue. Harris now says she’s comfortable with Biden’s newfound support for fracking because (wait for it!) it provides “good-paying jobs in places like Pennsylvania.”

As Donald Trump laid the groundwork in 1999 to run for president as the Reform Party candidate, he made a little-remembered attack on the person he saw as a rival in a possible general election campaign: Republican John McCain.
Many considered McCain a war hero for surviving five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, and a television interviewer asked why Trump felt he was more qualified to be commander in chief.
“Does being captured make you a hero? I don’t know. I’m not sure,” Trump said in the CBS interview.
A few years earlier, Trump had bragged on a morning radio show about avoiding the Vietnam draft, remarking that one of the show’s hosts who had gotten out of service by declaring he had a bad knee had done a “good job.”
Long before Trump’s views of the military would emerge as a flash point in his 2020 reelection campaign — before he would shock the political world with the more widely seen 2015 attack on McCain, in which he said the senator was “not a war hero” and declared, “I like people who weren’t captured” — Trump had a long track record of incendiary and disparaging remarks about veterans and military service.

Many of his remarks are memorialized in television interviews and the tapes of radio conversations with shock jocks, dating to his years as a private citizen and businessman.
It’s called the dating game.”

Now, this year, polls indeed show that most Americans, while sympathetic to Black Lives Matter, do not like looting, rioting, or violent protests. Gallup found that only 8 percent of US adults thought “looting and property damage during protests on racial justice” was justified. Meanwhile, 33 percent said they were sympathetic with those protesters but that their actions were not justified, and 57 percent were not sympathetic to them at all, meaning a combined 90 percent thought looting and property damage were unjustified.

So it's the classic question. Are the voters lying about the issues they care about or the candidate they will vote for. Betting here is they are lying about voting for Biden.

This why the Atlantic piece was published now. Instead of two years ago. The new media outfits did not question the timing and motivation behind the story before they "confirmed it" with the same anonymous sources that were originally used.

from the day george floyd overdosed until just about two weeks ago, we have been assured that the protests were mostly peaceful. now, miraculously they have devolved from mostly peaceful to violent, and blame for the violence has suddenly shifted exclusively to Trump. care to explain the sudden narrative shift? what was behind it exactly?

IF he had the financial and economic mental firepower to debate his topic he would, but he drank and medicated it away.

Have you noticed that not one of the regular supporters haven't spoken out! Lyndsey Graham or any other Congressman or senator, who have defended the President of the lazy losers?

Just his own staff. Non of you believed Bolton until now!

HUGE NUMBERS: Trump Approval Surges to 52% – Black Voter Approval Jumps to 45% in Race Against Joe Biden

This is despite the continued media onslaught over the coronavirus panic-porn and the continued and constant attacks on this president by the liberal mainstream media.

What is more significant– President Trump has 45% approval from black voters.
This is a HUGE number and must terrify Democrats.

Yes approval is a different question than who you will vote for but it is a leading indicator.

No way to spin it, it is bad news for the Biden campaign.

It's because of Bolton's well known distain for President Trump that makes his statement all the more credible.

Washington Post poll results showed

Let me stop you right there before you say "all polls are wrong" "2016!", or other crap. If you want to discuss this specific poll, great. If not, just keep moving.

✅55 percent of Americans say what Trump has said about protests “makes the situation worse,” while 42 percent say either that it has had little effect (29 percent) or has made things better (13 percent).

✅55 percent say Joe Biden would do a better job keeping the country safe, versus only 42 percent who say the same about Trump.

✅59 percent say Biden would do a better job handling the protests, versus 39 percent for Trump.

✅64 percent say Biden would do more to unite Americans rather than divide them, versus 33 percent for Trump.

✅59 percent say Biden would do a better job reducing violence in the country, versus 39 percent for Trump."

The other polls show 8%

I believe none of them want to dignified the story with a comment. As it is, Democrat operatives are angry and frustrated that no Republican has jumped on the bandwagon to condemned Trump. Not even Mitt Romney.

Rogers reason for stealing the Abe Lincoln quote.

That's another D+15 poll right? They are polling for the result the Washington Post wants. And that is true of every other media sponsored poll. You give the guy paying the bill what he wants.

personally i'm glad that lindsey graham has finally decided to shut the fuck up. his credibility is shot. he blustered about telling everyone who would listen all about the scores of people he was going to investigate and compel to testify and so far that number has not budged from exactly zero.

graham was also big buddies with pappy mcstain, so there's that.

yeah, hopefully someone got to lindsey and told him to stfu. he's an assclown.
