What Joe Biden needed to do is the same thing that Trump did after the Charlottesville riots, which is to condemn the groups responsible for the violence. In Trump's case, he specifically called out the KKK, neo-Nazis, and White Supremacists by name. Biden needed to do the same, otherwise he continues to be politically saddled by whatever blm and antifa does moving forward.
Now there is no question that Biden's most loyal soldiers will buy this nonsense hook, line, and sinker. But if you are a Biden supporter who truly believes that Trump and white supremacists are the ones responsible for recent violent rioting, then you are willing to believe pretty much everything and anything dementia Joe puts out there.
But blm and antifa are not losing support among the hardcore loyalists who believe everything bad that happens in the world is Trump's fault. The riots and actions of these groups are causing fear, disappointment, resentment, and about 100 different other emotions among the rank and file voters who are capable of flipping votes from one Party to the other.
Joe Biden played lip service to the idea that those rioting, looting, and committing acts of assault should be prosecuted. But the only people he specifically mentions are Police Officers, unidentified white supremacists, and the 17 year old boy who spent his day cleaning graffiti and administering first aid. Biden made it clear that those are the people who are "actually" responsible. Those Police officers and 17 year old boys are the ones that the rank and file voters need to fear.... not blm or antifa rioters.
This goes back to the old Groucho Marx routine when he asks the question: "do you believe me or your own lying eyes". Does Joe Biden and his team "seriously" believe that the American public is going to look at what has taken place in Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and now Kenosha and actually believe that the rioting is NOT being done by blm and antifa, but rather is being initiated by white supremacists and Donald Trump?
Biden may or may not have helped himself by denouncing the violence. But he definitely hurt himself by making a very dangerous and blatantly dishonest argument that President Trump and conservatives in general are the ones to blame for the riots and violence. NEW YORK, Sept 2 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump’s attempt to make civil unrest a central theme of his re-election campaign has yet to boost his political standing, as most Americans do not see crime as a major problem confronting the nation and a majority remain sympathetic to anti-racism protests, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.
The Aug. 31-Sept. 1 national opinion poll showed that 40% of registered voters support Trump, a Republican, compared with 47% who said they will vote for his Democratic opponent Joe Biden. Biden’s lead is largely unchanged over the past three weeks during which both parties held conventions to nominate their candidates Trump and Biden for the presidency.
Trailing Biden in most national opinion polls since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus this year, Trump has sought to change the subject from a pandemic that has killed more than 180,000 Americans, blaming Black Lives Matters protesters for violence in the cities and accusing Biden of being weak on crime.
But the poll showed the majority — 78% — remain “very” or “somewhat” concerned about the coronavirus. Nearly 60% said Trump is at least partly responsible for the protracted school and business closures due to the virus, as well as for the high number of coronavirus cases in the United States. More than 6 million Americans have been infected with the virus, more people than in any other country.
By contrast, most Americans do not see crime as a major priority and do not think it is increasing in their communities, the poll showed.
Only about 8% of American adults listed crime as a top priority for the country, compared with 30% who said it was the economy or jobs, and 16% who said it was the healthcare system.
And 62% of registered voters, including 62% of Democrats and 65% of Republicans, said crime was not increasing in their communities
According to the poll, 53% of American adults said they remain sympathetic to people out protesting against racial inequality, nearly unchanged from 52% in a similar poll that ran in late July.
While support for the protesters has declined overall since the immediate aftermath of the police killing in May of George Floyd in Minneapolis, which sparked a national conversation on race, the poll showed more than half of suburban Americans and more than half of undecided registered voters are still sympathetic to them.
Trump and his Republican allies tried to re-focus the country’s attention on crime in America during their convention last week, as new confrontations erupted following the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, a crucial battleground that will help decide November’s election.
Trump also has attempted to stoke fears, especially among suburban white voters, about crime-ridden cities and falsely asserted that Biden would “defund the police.” Biden has rejected that position.
“No one will be safe in Biden’s America,” Trump said last week at the Republican national convention.
Biden has pushed back, accusing Trump of stirring up racist fears in the U.S. in hopes of reviving his campaign.

It's like my mother who had horrible COPD and couldn't go anywhere with an oxygen tank. She got sick with some sort of bad cold and then passed. Had she not gotten the cold she would have probably not died at that time. But if she didn't have COPD then that cold would not have killed her.
It was a matter of time. The next bad cold, flu, or any other virus was likely going to kill her. Had she caught covid, there is no doubt that she would have died.
But in my mom's case... the cause of death on the death certificate was COPD (not the cold). I would suspect that this is the way most death certificates are written up for people with heart conditions, respiratory conditions, etc.
It's just not how we are tracking deaths for Covid. We are literally changing procedures specifically for this virus.

The Facts
Scavino tweeted a manipulated video from his personal account that makes it look like Biden fell asleep during a TV interview. The video spliced together two different clips — one from a 2011 KBAK interview with actor Harry Belafonte and the other of Biden at a virtual town hall event with Hillary Clinton in April 2020.
The video has a photoshopped chyron that reads “On air: Joe Biden | The importance of this election.” A soundtrack of snoring has been added.
It has a look of authenticity, but close observers might have been confused when, at one point in the short clip, anchor Leyla Santiago says, “This is your wake up call, Harry,” referring to Belafonte.
Belafonte, in a response to the New York Times, said the original video flub was due to a technical glitch, and he criticized the fake video.
Twitter marked the content as “manipulated media,” and the video was disabled on the platform “in response to a report by the copyright holder.” The video, initially shared by Trump supporter Brian Smyth, had 2.4 million views, according to the original tweet.
We sought comment from the White House, as Scavino is a White House official, but we were directed to the Trump campaign. Communications director Tim Murtaugh said: “This was a retweet of someone else’s video, and it was quite obviously a parody. It is sad that there is actual concern that people could mistake it for the real thing, though.”
The Pinocchio Test
The video is a clear case of splicing, or editing together disparate videos, which fundamentally alters the story that is being told. However, the edit is not necessarily as obvious as the Trump campaign suggests. Less-skeptical or less-observant viewers could believe the content of the video, given the fake chyron, and think Biden fell asleep during an interview when he did not.
Scavino’s tweet is the latest example of the Trump team’s efforts to cast Biden as “Sleepy Joe,” mentally absent or unfit to run for president. The Trump campaign is also not opposed to altering images or video of Biden for political gain. As the 2020 presidential election ramps up, we will continue to hold both campaigns accountable for sharing misleading visual content with millions of potential voters.
