Tale of two Minnesota rallies

Funny thing is that Biden had "room" for about 3 dozen people properly social distanced and still couldn't fill the room?

Trump rally in Bemidji vs Biden in Hermantown

For Trump, it feels like he's putting on a rock concert. For Biden it must feel like that time my classic rock cover band got booked for two nights at a country western bar (complete with a corral as a stage).

📍A maskless Joe Biden (D) spoke to firefighters following CNN’s town hall in Pennsylvania on Thursday evening after touting mask mandates and criticizing the president for supposedly thinking that masks “don’t matter very much.💉

It's kind of down to what you believe. Your eyes or the never-ending media polls.

Your eyes say that Trump will win by a landslide. He has huge rallies with thousand of people turning out to hear him. In addition, there are spontaneous (as in not organized by the Trump campaign) boat and car parades for Trump involving thousands of boats and hundreds of cars all for Trump.

You contrast that with a Biden event where the turnout can comfortably fit in a conference room and the difference is pathetically striking. They even tried to mimic a car parade for Biden and they only got three cars running around the block.

Granted having small controlled events is a deliberate choice by Biden's handlers. But it is a bad choice because if feeds into the narrative that there is no enthusiasm for Biden and that he is not in charge but rather, he is being controlled and handle.

In any reasonable assessment, Trump is winning the optics war.

The only question is why his handlers don't plan big rallies? There are two answers. If turnout is disappointing in then it feeds into the lack of enthusiasm and they have no confidence their man can handle an unscripted event.

This is where the optics and the feeling on the ground clashes with the polling. The kindest reason would be that Trump voters are enthusiastic about Trump they are not so enthusiastic about answering the polls.

The more likely reason is that media polls are merely exercises in "working the ref". They weigh and skew the results to get the required narrative.

However, the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the wild card that changes everything. At least from my side, if socal conservatives were on the fence about Trump they are no lomger on the fence They will turnout in droves to ensure Trump is re-elected.

As far as Biden voters are concerned, there was no evidence that the court was foremost on their minds in 2016 and there is no evidence now. A lot of Democrats are making noise to the contrary but we shall see. The generation the Democrats depend on to turn out is surprisingly pro-life.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is dead.

So you can tell your progressive friends that voted for Trump or not at all? KISS YOUR FUCKING AGENDA GOODBYE! I’m just going to fight to keep my Social Security and Medicare, and just fuck you Bernie and his zealots! Yep, Social Security, Medicare, and then I am fucking out of here.

Forget about your medical coverage, forget about your student loans (you are going to have them FOREVER). Forget about affordable college, forget about a woman’s right to choose. JUST FORGET ABOUT THE WHOLE PROGRESSIVE wish list!

If you progressive morons are lucky, you might be able to hang onto your $7 something minimum wage! God you guys are soooo... FUCKED!

Go ahead, vote for the Republican ran Green Party. It’s probably going to be the LAST FREE VOTE YOU EVER FUCKING GET!!! Enjoy! Because you have hurt yourselves more that you might ever realize.

As far as a replacement for Justice Ginsburg is concerned, I actually believe her replacement will be in place before election day.

1. Trump will probably send the nomination to the senate next week. Amy Cony Barrett is a favorite not only for her conservative Philosophy but also she has already been vetted before. So a quick hearing follow by a vote is in store.

2. McConnell will hold hearings and a vote, he is not going to let disingenuous blather about Merck Garland get in his way to remake the court,

There are four recalcitrant Republicans McConnell has to deal with, He will probably give Collins a pass, but he will put the hammer down on Grassley, Mukowski, and Romney. Suffice to say if they don't come on board then their career in Republican politics is finished.

But overriding argument is that, face with one of the most contentious elections in history, a hung 4-4 court would be a nightmare. That should give these Republicans the cover to change their mind.

Justice Ginsburg’s dying wish was that her seat would not be filled until a new president is installed! Senate Democrats, do not back down. You have a tough fight ahead but our future is on the line! No SCOTUS appointment before the election!!!

The Biden campaign has called a lid at 8:35am, per pool. So we won’t see Joe Biden today.

That disorganized mess in Minnesota really wore him out. Nothing important going on anyway.

Time to sleep in as retired people are allowed to do.

The time between the formal Supreme Court nomination of Sandra Day O’Connor and her final Senate confirmation was 33 days. (Aug. 19-Sep. 21, 1981).

For John Paul Stevens, the formal process took only 19 days (Nov. 28-Dec. 17, 1975).

There are 46 days until the election.

Trump has time to nominate and get his nominee confirmed to the Supreme Court. EVERY SINGLE VOTE ON A #SCOTUS NOMINEE OF THE LAST 45 YEARS was voted on in less time than what Trump has between now and the end of his current term.

and it is important to have a full court in case of election litigation which appears a real possibility this cycle

The Democrats always play fair, like spying on the Trump campaign, filling the Mueller team with Clinton donors, trying to destroy Brett Kavanaugh, and impeaching the President for something Joe Biden did. So of course the GOP shouldn't nominate a replacement for RBG.

The fact that the death of a Judge means so much to our lives is a sign the court is playing too big a role in our society.

No more activist "judges". They are supposed to FOLLOW the law. Not make it.

irony -

if democrats had not been so explicit and vociferous in their intent to challenge the upcoming election no matter what, they would have a convincing case to delay RBG's replacement until after the election.

but as usual, democrats over-reach, and step on their own dicks. with golf shoes.

January 1, if the Republicans lose the senate. It may be January 1, anyway. Usually every item from the previous Congress gets dumped when the new Congress comes in, even when it doesn't change party hands.

This is true. Even after Marbury v.. Madison, Marshall was extremely reluctant to weld the new power he created for the court. Judicial restraint was the watch word of the time.

I think he would view the role of the court today as tyrannical.

It is most funny that Roger calls Trump supporters pathological. when it's the left-wing Democrats who are providing the most violence laden rhetoric over the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her eventual replacement.

They are actually trying to blackmail the country with violent retribution if a new justice is selected by Trump.

Hope the country is paying attention.
