This answer from Amy Coney Barrett about how it feels to be nominated to the Supreme Court is incredible. It’s very sad and weighty, but also incredible. What a patriot and public servant. Outstanding.
YAWN.......Get the vote over.....she is going to be confirmed as the R's last gasp at power for maybe a generation!!!!!1 Sad the country comes second for all the senators as they confirm a women who will become a pariah and catalyst for 70% of the country to become active against the GOP...
I think we will see that the opprobrium will fall most heavily on Giuliani for trying to piece together so badly crafted a piece of poorly attempted deception, and on Trump for sponsoring it.
Nothing. But the original Wade v Roe decision used the 14th amendment and Due Process to claim that the constitution provides a "right to privacy" that protects the rights of women to choose abortion as a medical procedure.
Ironically, that same "right to privacy" does not expand to things like smoking marijuana, and many other issues that have been deemed unseemly by society. Most will argue that the inconsistency of a constitutional "right to privacy" made it a poor excuse for a legal justification for a predetermined outcome.
Either way, there are enough Justices on the USSC who feel that Wade v Roe is settled precedent that Coney Bennett is not going to be the one to make abortions illegal again.
First, before I ask my second question, isn't that exactly what Kavanaugh lying said he would not do? Isn't that exactly what he told Sen. Collins he would not do?
While awaiting your answer, I would remind you that Sen. Collins’ Democratic opponents, who have long been critical of her vote to confirm Kavanaugh, pointed to his dissent as further evidence that he would NOT follow precedent with respect to abortion rights.
We separate the powers between the federal government and the state government.
Right now I am seeing the Republicans are trying hard to undue Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid and the ACA. They can't accomplish anything like this without stocking The Supreme Court with federalist justices.
Griswold v. Connecticut, 381 U.S. 479 (1965), was a landmark decision of the US Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects the liberty of married couples to buy and use contraceptives without government restriction.
It was on cited when the Supreme Court ruled on Roe v Wade.
One of the reasons I support Roe v Wade because a woman should have control over her body.
At least in the first trimester the women should have total control over her body.
In the second and third trimester, I tend to be troubled. Especially when the infant is viable.

are you suggesting that Kavanaugh has voted to reverse Wade v Roe?
The reality is that Wade v Roe guarantees the right to an abortion. That is it. Nothing more or nothing less.
It never did and never will guarantee any right to have it paid for by the State, nor will it guarantee anything having to do with abortion clinics, or any of the other peripheral issues.
Any and all rulings associated with abortions (other than a direct constitutional challenge to Wade v Roe itself) should IN EVERY CASE be determined by the constitutional nature of the case.
Stating that Wade v Roe is precedent does not require a Justice to rule on every abortion case in favor or "more" abortion rights or "more" abortion access or "more" money for abortion or anything like that.
pederast - not Kavanaugh or ACB or any other justice is going to wake up one morning and decide that today is the day we kill roe.
someone with standing is going to have to make a case and the USSC will have to agree to hear that case.
only an imbecile/democrat thinks otherwise, and those who argue as much are being intentionally dishonest in a bad faith pursuit of a partisan agenda.
what i find most interesting in watching democrat squirm over the past few days is just how tenuous from a constitutional perspective things like Roe, Gay Marriage and the ACA really are.
if these and others were clearly constitutional without question, the left wouldn't be as nervous as a whore in church about ACB's confirmation.
The USSC has not made abortions illegal anywhere, they have not reversed Wade v Roe, and they certainly have not determined that they are illegal in cases of rape or incest.
So what on gods green earth is your point, oh pointless one?
Republicans are trying hard to undue Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid and the ACA. They can't accomplish anything like this without stocking The Supreme Court with federalist justices.
If President Biden sticks the Supreme Court with liberal justices, you would shout #impeachment
these get bandied about in every Roe conversation, yet i've never seen any genuine statistics on how many cases of rape/incest have occurred that required an abortion as a remedy.
liberal "what if's and what abouts" tend to be 99.99% bullshit, and this is no exception.
Kavanaugh’s dissent reveals that his statement to Collins (and to the Senate) regarding his respect for previous Supreme Court decisions in the area of abortion was misleading, and her vote for him may cost her a further term in office.
I’m running as a proud Democrat, but I will govern as an American president. I will work with folks from both sides of the aisle, and I will fight as hard for those who don’t support me as for those who do. That’s the job of a president. It’s a duty of care for everyone.
Kavanaugh’s dissent reveals that his statement to Collins (and to the Senate) regarding his respect for previous Supreme Court decisions in the area of abortion was misleading
Not sure what sort of semantic craziness you are attempting to create here, but it certainly sounds like you (and many others) are attempting to tie the idea that Wade v Roe is a settled matter with other opinions regarding other types of abortion rights.
It's one thing to make a constitutional claim that the right to an abortion is a matter of privacy. It's quite another to expect justices to side with laws written that would force other Americans to pay for them or to demand safety exceptions for abortion clinics in order to make them more readily available or any number of other items that do not actually infringe on the right to have an abortion.
And yes... we all understand that many of these peripheral abortion decisions have been largely 5-4 decisions and that Ginsburg being replaced by Coney Barrett might change that balance.
But none of that has ANYTHING to do with Wade v Roe.
In other words... you are simply spewing a political talking point that has nothing to do with the law or the constitution. Which, of course, why you are tying it to someone's election chances.
And btw... Kavanaugh is under no obligation to help anyone become elected, reelected, or to prevent someone from being elected. His job is to rule completely 100% by the law and constitution and 100% outside of political considerations.
What he would hate is the hateful cancel culture and intolerant left whose gestapo like obsession with control and censorship has turned American freedom from what has been the single most important right of what our country stands for into a stupid series of political debates.
The America that the 2020 left wants looks nothing like America in any other generation. Anyone from the first 220 years of our country who loved the country because of the freedoms it provided would be horrified by what liberals are trying to do today.
"We have to stop this crazy catholic mother judge who thinks her job is to follow the Constitution.
Well Lil Schitty......if she did that without the orthodoxy of the fucking catholic church.....fine....But I do not think for a nano second she will divest herself of her long held tenets from her judicial thinking...Her stand on gay rights, women's rights are high examples of her bias which should disqualify her from the bench!!!!!! And if the mouth of the south assigns harry reid the blame for the current situation.....bullshit!!!! The Washington Examiner Reports that Sasse Says Trump ‘Kisses Dictators’ Butts’ 2:39 pm
Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), in a private call with constituents, excoriated President Trump, saying he had mishandled the coronavirus response, “kisses dictators’ butts,” “sells out our allies,” spends “like a drunken sailor,” mistreats women, and trash-talks evangelicals behind their backs.
He added that Trump has “flirted with white supremacists” and his family “treated the presidency like a business opportunity.” ___________

Biden Takes Double-Digit Lead Over Trump 3:23 pm A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds Joe Biden leading Donald Trump among likely voters, 54% to 43%.
“It’s the highest level of support Biden has achieved since the poll began testing the head-to-head matchup in February. Biden has never been below 50% in the question in the Marist poll, and Trump has never been above 44%.”
Trump Tears Into NBC Before Town Hall Event 3:09 pm President Trump ripped into NBC just hours before appearing on the network for a town hall forum.
Said Trump: “So you know, I’m being set up tonight, right. I’m doing this town hall with Con-cast. So I’m doing it and it’s NBC. The worst.”
He added: “And so they asked me if I’d do it, and I figured what the hell, we’ve got a free hour on television.”
Trump Says Only Jesus Is More Famous 2:35 pm President Trump speaking at a campaign rally in North Carolina: “Someone said to me the other day, ‘You’re the most famous person in the world by far.’ I said, ‘No, I’m not.'”

He added: “I’m not taking any chances.” _______________

I GUESS SHE FINALLY JUST HAD AS MUCH AS SHE COULD TAKE AND SO--- Giuliani’s Daughter Urges Vote for Biden!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3:31 pm
Rudy Giuliani’s daughter, Caroline, writes in Vanity Fair that she’s voting for Joe Biden.
“If being the daughter of a polarizing mayor who became the president’s personal bulldog has taught me anything, it is that corruption starts with ‘yes-men’ and women, the cronies who create an echo chamber of lies and subservience to maintain their proximity to power. We’ve seen this ad nauseam with Trump and his cadre of high-level sycophants (the ones who weren’t convicted, anyway).”
SHE'S TALKING ABOUT HER OWN, UNCONVICTED (SO FAR) FATHER, FOLKS!
Four years ago, pundits said the race was over because of how Trump was polling. According to those same polls in the same key battleground states, he’s doing a bit better than he was doing four years ago.
yep
And I suspect Trump voters are more secure and motivated than they were in 2016. In other words it will be an even bigger "surprise".

“Time for a Free Press to tell the truth about the Biden Crime Family,” tweeted Rudy Giuliani just minutes after the first presidential debate ended. Less than 90 minutes later, Giuliani’s daughter fired back at her dad: “Trump is the one lying about Hunter Biden. And I, for one, do not support spreading false gossip about a politician’s child.”

The Biden campaign says “no meeting, as alleged by the New York Post, ever took place” because it wasn’t on Biden’s schedule. Of course, that isn’t evidence a meeting didn’t occur — but the email (if authentic) isn’t evidence that a meeting did occur, either. The New York Post did not confirm that the meeting happened, and it’s unclear from the email if the meeting did occur.

Halpern was an assistant U.S. attorney for 36 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Diego.
After 36 years, I’m fleeing what was the U.S. Department of Justice — where I proudly served 19 different attorneys general and six different presidents. For the last three-plus decades, I have respected our leadership regardless of whether we were led by a Republican or a Democrat. I always believed the department’s past leaders were dedicated to the rule of law and the guiding principle that justice is blind. That is a bygone era, but it should not be forgotten.
Maybe I should’ve seen this coming, but like many of my colleagues, I fervently hoped that Attorney General William Barr’s preemptive misrepresentation of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report was an honest mistake or a solitary misstep — rather than a deliberate attempt to conceal potential presidential misconduct. After all, Barr has never actually investigated, charged or tried a case. He’s a well-trained bureaucrat but has no actual experience as a prosecutor.
Unfortunately, over the last year, Barr’s resentment toward rule-of-law prosecutors became increasingly difficult to ignore, as did his slavish obedience to Donald Trump’s will in his selective meddling with the criminal justice system in the Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn and Roger Stone cases. In each of these cases, Barr overruled career prosecutors in order to assist the president’s associates and/or friends, who potentially harbor incriminating information. This career bureaucrat seems determined to turn our democracy into an autocracy.
There is no other honest explanation for Barr’s parroting of the president’s wild and unsupported conspiracy theories regarding mail-in ballots (which have been contradicted by the president’s handpicked FBI director) and his support for the president’s sacking of the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, whose office used the thinnest of veils to postpone charging the president in a criminal investigation along with Michael Cohen (who pled guilty and directly implicated the president). It took federal Judge Alvin Hellerstein to stop Barr’s unprecedented “retaliatory” demands to silence the president’s former lawyer as a condition for staying out of jail.
Similarly, it took federal Judge Reggie Walton (who sharply criticized Barr for a “lack of candor”) to at least temporarily stop Barr from dismissing all charges against Flynn, the president’s former national security adviser, who admitted lying to the FBI about conversations he had with the Russian ambassador. Rather than representing the interests of the American public, Barr chooses to act as Trump’s lap dog.
More recently, Barr directed federal officers to use tear gas in Lafayette Park to quell what were, at that time, peaceful protesters. Barr’s assertion the square was not cleared due to the president’s desire for a Bible-carrying photo op is laughable. It is certainly a case that Barr would lose before a jury (again, though, this may not be clear to him due to his unfamiliarity with jury trials).
Barr also turned his back on the rule of law by supporting the president’s selective use of federal troops to assault citizens protesting the killing of George Floyd in Portland, Oregon. Yet he stood silently by when armed right-wing protesters stormed the Michigan state Capitol building to protest the Democratic governor’s public health orders.
Barr’s longest-running politicization of the Justice Department is the Durham investigation — a quixotic pursuit designed to attack the president’s political rivals. Confirming his scorn for honest apolitical prosecutors, Barr refers to some as “headhunters” who pursue “ill-conceived charges against prominent political figures.” It does not appear to be a coincidence that all of these prominent political figures happen to be friends of the president. However, if I’m a headhunter because I charged and convicted disgraced local House members Duncan D. Hunter and Randy “Duke” Cunningham, so be it. It’s a badge that I will wear with honor.
I remained in government service this past year at least partly because I was concerned that the department would interfere with the Hunter prosecution in my absence. Unfortunately, many of my colleagues without such a rationale appear to have started abandoning Barr’s ship. Equally troubling, highly qualified lawyers appear to be unwilling to apply to be federal prosecutors while Barr remains at the helm. Yet, as I leave government service, I take great comfort in the fact that the career people who remain in the Department of Justice are firmly committed to the rule of law, and are some of the most dedicated, ethical and industrious individuals we have in government. At times like these, I take heart in knowing that they are all committed to preserving and rebuilding the Department of Justice that I was privileged to serve.
At his rally Tuesday in Johnstown, Pa., President Trump briefly veered off script to beseech one particular — and pivotal — slice of the electorate.
“Suburban women, will you please like me?” Trump asked. “Please. Please. I saved your damn neighborhood, OK?”
The president’s tone was lightly mocking, although his reference to saving their “neighborhood” (from low-income housing and the people it would bring) continued his barely disguised appeal to prejudice.
The electoral concerns that provoked Trump’s plea, however, are very real. It’s no secret that the president has struggled with college-educated white women (often referred to as “suburban women,” the successors to “soccer moms”). According to exit polls, he lost them by 7 percentage points to Hillary Clinton in 2016, four years after Republican Mitt Romney won them by 6; in 2018, they broke for Democrats by 20 points, flipping the U.S. House of Representatives
This is becoming perfectly Orwellian. This is clearly major news. Indeed, if it is completely fabricated, it would also be a major story. However, these companies are actively preventing voters from fully reviewing and discussing the story.
Biden has put dems in a very uncomfortable position.
The show has obtained new Hunter Biden emails that expose corruption. You will not want to miss tonight’s report. Tune in at 8pm EST on #FoxNews
Most watched for a reason...
Looks like tonight will be on fire.
I might watch the Biden townhall just to hear if Biden even is asked about Hunter's drive. He must be real stressed and in his current state that may lead to fireworks. Would be very curious if he even admits to speaking with him today...
Trump May Have Scared People Into Voting Early 6:19 pm Greg Sargent: “For one thing, Trump’s efforts to intimidate Democrats out of voting are failing. The lies about vote-by-mail being fraudulent were in part about getting Democrats to give up on it, in hopes that they’d also refrain from in-person voting amid a pandemic. For another, Trump has repeatedly told his army to watch the polls for fake fraud very carefully — that is, to engage in voter intimidation. Obviously both are failing.
“And so many people voting early will ease the late crush that many feared due to enormous expected demand for vote-by-mail.
“Above all, the more voting happens earlier, the harder it will be for Trump to play corrupt games around late-arriving ballots.”
AS THEY SAY, TRUMP "SCREWED THE POOCH" ON THAT ONE.
NBC: Democrats Hint at Consequences for Senate 6:15 pm “Republicans are confident a vote confirming Amy Coney Barrett to the the Supreme Court is only days away, but Democrats are looking farther ahead and warning that this swift process on the eve of an election won’t be quickly forgotten,” NBC News reports.
Said Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse: “The rule of ‘because we can,’ which is the rule that is being applied today, is one that leads away from a lot of the traditions and commitments and values that the Senate has long embodied.”
He added: “Don’t think that when you have established the rule of ‘because we can’ that should the shoe be on the other foot that you will have any credibility to come to us and say, yeah, I know you can do that but you shouldn’t because of X, Y, Z. Your credibility to make that argument in the future will die in this room and on that Senate floor if you continue to proceed in this way.”
Christie Says He Was ‘Wrong’ to Not Wear a Mask 5:57 pm Former Gov. Chris Christie (R), who was recently battling a coronavirus infection, told the New York Times that he was “wrong” not to wear a mask at an event honoring Judge Amy Coney Barrett and in his debate preparation sessions with President Trump, and that people should take the threat of the virus seriously.
“Christie said that he had believed he was in a “safe zone” at the White House while he was there.”
“He urged people to follow best practices, like mask wearing and social distancing, but argued there’s a middle ground between extensive, large-scale shutdowns and reopening cities and states without taking proper precautions.”
IF CHRISTIE WAS WRONG, THEN TRUMP AND ALL WHO APPROVED OF HOLDING THE EVENT IN THE WAY TRUMP WANTED TO HOLD IT WERE ALSO WRONG.
POLITICO: Justice Democrats Go All In For Biden 5:30 pm “A leading progressive group that attacked Joe Biden in the primary is launching a six-figure ad buy aimed at electing him this fall. Justice Democrats, the organization that recruited Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to run for Congress, is airing a new digital spot in the battleground states of Pennsylvania and Arizona as part of its effort to support Biden.”

Ch, I would like to ask you two questions.
1) What does the Constitution say about abortion?
When you have answered that, I have a second question for you.
Twitter and Facebook are in a heluva lot of trouble over censoring the NY post Biden story.
I think we will see that the opprobrium will fall most heavily on Giuliani for trying to piece together so badly crafted a piece of poorly attempted deception, and on Trump for sponsoring it.

The media’s predictions of President Donald Trump’s certain defeat are about as confident this year as they were in 2016. You would think pundits’ embarrassing errors in 2016 would provoke some humility, but the narrative has been roughly the same for months: Joe Biden is going to win the election, likely in a landslide.
Charlie Cook declared the race “over” and Hillary Clinton the winner on the strength of a Fox News poll that was issued on October 13, 2016. Four years to the day later, he said Biden will win and that there’s a 40 percent chance he will win “big.” He also said, according to a press release that was just issued, that “if Biden is able to win the states Hillary Clinton lost, he could get enough electoral votes to win the election.” Not much to say about that insightful comment
It is absolutely true that national polls would predict a clear Biden victory if the country elected presidents through the popular vote. He’s up 10 points in the Real Clear Politics poll average nationally. What is left out of the media’s discussions of whether this or the 2016 race is winnable for Trump is the Electoral College. And for that discussion, it’s worth a look at the states whose electoral votes will decide the election.
In 2016, Trump won by winning battleground states that few expected him to win. Right now, he’s polling slightly and relatively better in those states than he did four years ago.
The graph above shows how Trump’s 2020 performance in polls of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina compares to his 2016 polling performance by dates out from the election. One hundred days out from election day, Biden was up nearly 6 points in battleground states, at a time Clinton was only up 2.3 points. Now he’s up 4.9 points at a time Clinton was up 5.1 points.
So you see that Biden is averaging a 7-point lead in Pennsylvania, but Clinton was averaging a nearly identical lead there four years ago — before Trump won it narrowly on election day. Likewise, Biden’s Florida lead is very similar to Clinton’s lead four years ago. Trump won Florida.
Biden is not performing as well in Wisconsin as Clinton was four years ago. Trump won that state. Biden is doing less well in Michigan, according to the polls, than Clinton did four years ago. Trump won Michigan. Biden’s doing a bit better in North Carolina than Clinton did but Trump won that state by a 4-point margin.
There are a lot of people who don’t put much confidence in polling, but this table shows that even according to the polls themselves, Trump’s performance at this point in the election process is on track with where he was in 2016.
Trump will need to do in 2020 what he did in 2016 — campaign hard in these battleground states and win them. But the numbers show he’s polling slightly better in these battleground states right now than he was at this time in 2016. He’s on track — in the media’s own polls — to do well in the Electoral College.
The media like to use polls to set very powerful narratives during a campaign. The narrative is frequently that the race is not winnable for the Republican. The polls get more reasonable closer to election day, regardless of who wins, and the false narrative gets forgotten.
Throughout 2016, the narrative put forth day in and day out by the media was that Donald Trump simply couldn’t win. Sure, the final polls weren’t off as dramatically as that narrative was, but the narrative is pushed at least in part because it advances the political agenda of the media. The wish frequently becomes reality. The media have pushed the same narrative this time as well, if a bit more angrily.
Four years ago, pundits said the race was over because of how Trump was polling. According to those same polls in the same key battleground states, he’s doing a bit better than he was doing four years ago.

The post Trump Republican party needs a new William F. Buckley Jr.
I watched his television show where he actually made me think like a conservative. That's why I voted for Reagan in 1980.
Reagan would not support Trump. Neither would William F. Buckley jr.
That doesn't mean that an abortion would be available Jimmy Hitler
If you don’t like the Supreme Court, blame Harry Reid
Reagan would not support Trump.
Reagan would love Trump.

Biden Takes Double-Digit Lead Over Trump

A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds Joe Biden leading Donald Trump among likely voters,
54% to 43%.
“It’s the highest level of support Biden has achieved since the poll began testing the head-to-head matchup in February. Biden has never been below 50% in the question in the Marist poll, and Trump has never been above 44%.”
Trump Tears Into NBC Before Town Hall Event
3:09 pm
President Trump ripped into NBC just hours before appearing on the network for a town hall forum.
Said Trump: “So you know, I’m being set up tonight, right. I’m doing this town hall with Con-cast. So I’m doing it and it’s NBC. The worst.”
He added: “And so they asked me if I’d do it, and I figured what the hell, we’ve got a free hour on television.”
Trump Says Only Jesus Is More Famous
2:35 pm
President Trump speaking at a campaign rally in North Carolina: “Someone said to me the other day, ‘You’re the most famous person in the world by far.’ I said, ‘No, I’m not.'”
“They said, ‘Who’s more famous?’ I said, ‘Jesus Christ.'”
He added: “I’m not taking any chances.”

Giuliani’s Daughter Urges Vote for Biden!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We’ve seen this ad nauseam with Trump and his cadre of high-level sycophants (the ones who weren’t convicted, anyway).”

πWikipedia has joined Twitter and Facebook in seeking to suppress revelations from the New York Post about Hunter Biden allegedly securing a meeting between his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, and a high-level adviser to Ukrainian energy company Burisma where the younger Biden served as a board member and which faced serious corruption allegations. Editors recently deemed the Post an “unreliable source” on Wikipedia and cited this as a reason to exclude mention of the story.π€£

(Giuliani, who serves as Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, has become infamous as the campaign’s unabashed and often-bungling agent for digging up oppo research on Biden.)
Less than 90 minutes later, Giuliani’s daughter fired back at her dad: “Trump is the one lying about Hunter Biden. And I, for one, do not support spreading false gossip about a politician’s child.”

The Leftist are very unhappy with the failed performance of Harris in the USSC hearings.
Harris was out classed at ever turn by Nominee Barrett.

Most watched for a reason...
Looks like tonight will be on fire.
I might watch the Biden townhall just to hear if Biden even is asked about Hunter's drive. He must be real stressed and in his current state that may lead to fireworks. Would be very curious if he even admits to speaking with him today...

Trump May Have Scared People Into Voting Early
6:19 pm
Greg Sargent: “For one thing, Trump’s efforts to intimidate Democrats out of voting are failing.

Democrats Hint at Consequences for Senate
6:15 pm
“Republicans are confident a vote confirming Amy Coney Barrett to the the Supreme Court is only days away, but Democrats are looking farther ahead and warning that this swift process on the eve of an election won’t be quickly forgotten,” NBC News reports.
Christie Says He Was ‘Wrong’ to Not Wear a Mask
5:57 pm
Former Gov.
