The four days of hearing certainly moved the needle... but in favor of confirmation, not the other way around!

Democratic Support for Amy Coney Barrett's SC Nomination Nearly Doubles in Two Weeks: Poll
Among all registered voters, 48 percent said that the Senate should vote to confirm Barret, up from 37 percent on September 26. Just under a third, 31 percent, responded that she should not be confirmed, while 21 percent were undecided. While 57 percent of men favored Barrett's confirmation, only 40 percent of women agreed.
A plurality of 44 percent of registered voters said that they believe the Senate should decide Barrett's confirmation "as soon as possible, regardless of who wins the election," increasing from 39 percent two weeks earlier. The number of those who said that the Senate should "only vote on confirming her if President Trump wins the election" dropped from 40 percent to 36 percent.

Well this is one that the President got right. It was always said that Trump held back Barrett because he wanted her to be the USSC Justice who replaced Ginsburg. The thought was that replacing Ginsburg would be the most difficult task, and that whoever was her replacement would have to be almost beyond reprieve.

As it turned out, the four days of excessive grandstanding and personal attacks against Barrett did nothing to persuade the public that she should not be a USSC Justice. In fact, even Democrats were moved by her performance. It now looks like a no-brainer that she will be confirmed. Moreover, any additional tomfoolery at this point by Schumer and the Democrats will simply push the public more in favor of Barret.

The Democrats should slink away on this one and allow the nominee to get a straight up and down vote. Even under the most difficult of situations, it appears that Barrett did exactly what the President saved her for.

Romney Blasts Trump for Not Condemning QAnon

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) blasted President Trump’s refusal to condemn QAnon during an NBC town hall.

Said Romney:
“The president’s unwillingness to denounce an absurd and dangerous conspiracy theory last night continues an alarming pattern:
politicians and parties refuse to forcefully and convincingly repudiate groups like antifa, white supremacists and conspiracy peddlers.”

THAT'S SOMETHING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS GOING TO HAVE TO CARRY WITH THEM FOR QUITE A WHILE.

Budget Deficit Surpassed $3.1 Trillion

The U.S. budget deficit eclipsed $3.1 trillion in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, by far the biggest one-year gap in U.S. history, the Washington Post reports.

The data are a stark reflection of the staggering blow that the coronavirus pandemic has dealt to the U.S. economy.

More Watched Biden Than Trump, Including Cable

“Joe Biden’s town hall on ABC averaged 13.9 million viewers on Thursday night, easily surpassing the Nielsen ratings for President Trump’s town hall on NBC. That alone was a result virtually no one in the TV business expected. And that’s not even the most surprising part,” CNN reports.

“The Trump town hall was simulcast by two of NBC’s cable channels, MSNBC and CNBC, but even when those channels are included in the total, Biden — on only one network — still prevailed.”

200 fraudulent ballots in 1948 changed the course of 20th Century history. We cannot let election fraud in 2020 do the same to the 21st Century.

In the 1948 Texas Democratic Senate primary, Lyndon Johnson (“LBJ”) came up just short in his race against Coke Stevenson, trailing by less than 150 votes after all the ballots were counted. But six days after the election, the local political boss in Duval County produced 202 more ballots that had been “found.” Exactly 200 of them voted for LBJ, in alphabetic order, and with the same handwriting on the tally sheet that voters had to sign. LBJ won the election by 87 votes. Texas was still a one-party state in 1948, so winning the Democratic primary meant LBJ went to the US Senate in 1949.

What if Coke Stevenson had not been cheated out of his Senate victory? How different might history be if LBJ hadn’t become a Senator?

There would have been no Kennedy-Johnson ticket in 1960 without Senator Johnson. LBJ had become the powerful Senate Majority Leader during the 1950s. Because Texas had voted for the GOP presidential candidate (Eisenhower) in both 1952 and 1956, Kennedy picked LBJ to try to bring Texas back in to the Democrat column. Without LBJ, would there have been a President Kennedy? Without a President Kennedy how different would history be?

What if Richard Nixon had carried a Johnson-less Texas in the 1960 presidential race, defeating JFK and becoming President? There would have been no JFK assassination. And with Nixon stepping down from the presidency in 1965 or 1969, there would also not have been a Watergate in 1973.

More importantly, without a Senator Johnson in 1949 there never would have been a President Johnson from 1963 to 1969. Perhaps the awful damage done to this country by President Johnson could have been avoided.

The civil rights movement started during the Eisenhower administration, and it was gaining momentum when LBJ became President. Just when black Americans were finally escaping the government-mandated poverty of legal segregation, LBJ rushed through the Great Society to keep blacks dependent and poor, destroying the black family in the process. Without LBJ’s poisonous welfare policies, how different might things be today?

How about Vietnam? How different might history have played out if Richard Nixon was Commander in Chief in the 1960s?

Without the Kennedy assassination and Vietnam, how different might the 1960s have been culturally?

Without Watergate in 1973, we likely wouldn’t have had President Carter’s disastrous presidency. Of course, without President Carter we probably wouldn’t have elected President Reagan. But, without President Carter we may not have needed a President Reagan.

The mail-in ballot debacle of 2020 is for the purpose of sowing confusion. Democrats want to harvest as many ballots post-election as are needed to change the results of ballots cast at the ballot box. I will accept the results of election day. I will not accept my candidates losing after ballots continue to be found after the election. 200 fraudulent ballots in 1948 allowed “Landslide Lyndon” the opportunity to cause so much lasting damage to this country. We cannot let it happen again in 2020.

heh:

The Republican Party is keeping pace in mail-in and early voting in three key swing states despite polls showing early voting should clearly favor Joe Biden.

Data out of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio indicates that registered Republicans are returning ballots at about the same rate as registered Democrats in the battleground states.

In Michigan as of Wednesday, just over 1 million ballots have been returned, 40% from registered Democrats, with the same from registered Republicans. In Wisconsin, 40% of the 711,855 returned ballots have been from Democrats, while 38% have come from Republicans. The GOP actually leads in Ohio, with 45% of 475,259 early ballot returns coming from Republicans, compared to 43% from registered Democrats. The preliminary data matches up with the requests by party affiliation for mail-in ballots.

The data contradicts national polls showing Biden supporters overwhelmingly plan to vote by mail or early in person. According to a Pew Research poll released Friday, 55% of voters who plan to cast their ballot in person before Election Day support Biden, compared to 40% who support President Trump.

Biden's lead is even larger among those who plan to or already have voted by mail, with 69% saying they support Biden, compared to just 27% who support Trump. On the other hand, Trump leads those who plan to vote in person on Election Day, 63%-31%.

The latest on the pandemic:

A long-feared autumn spike in infections and serious illnesses has arrived.

“This is not a regional crisis, but instead one that is intensifying almost everywhere in the country,” our Health desk wrote. The number of daily new U.S. coronavirus cases reached its highest point since late July, exceeding 64,000 on Thursday. Nearly every state has reported rising caseloads in the last few weeks, and hospitals in the Upper Midwest and Great Plains are running low on intensive-care beds as tens of thousands of people across the country fall ill with the disease.

The pharmaceutical giant Pfizer announced Friday that it doesn't expect to submit its experimental vaccine for approval before late November. There now appears to be no way that any of the U.S. vaccine candidates will be ready for the public before Election Day, which is likely to disappoint President Trump, but calm those who feared that politics would rush the approval process.

David Frum. A lifelong Republican

In a nightmare alternate universe, Americans find hope by viewing films from a different dimension, where life unfolds as normal. That’s the plot of the Amazon science-fiction series The Man in the High Castle. It was also the experience many Americans had as they flipped back and forth between two town halls last night, one on NBC with President Donald Trump, the other on ABC with former Vice President Joe Biden.

Professionals often watch political debates with the sound off. Because of the bizarre format of the evening, I watched last night’s with the sound on, on two screens at once, sometimes focusing on one dialogue, sometimes on the other. The most striking contrast was how much louder the Trump event was than the Biden event. Trump shouts. Biden talks. Toggling between the two was like switching from heavy metal to midnight jazz.

David A. Graham: Americans saw Trump unfiltered and recoiled in horror

Other differences became apparent too. When Trump has to deal with something he doesn’t like—such as Savannah Guthrie’s questions about his debts—he blusters great clouds of defensive words. The words do not form sentences, do not cohere into ideas, do not contain truthful information. But they do form a defensive wall of noise against unwelcome inquiry. When Biden got a challenging question—for example, whether Trump deserved some credit for peace between Israel and the United Arab Emirates—he used the bullfighter method: Let the charge advance far enough to dissipate some of its energy, and only then strike back. So Biden allowed that Trump did deserve “a little” credit, but “not much.” And then, rather than arguing the point, he offered a different frame for thinking about foreign-policy success: trust by allies, acceptance of America’s standing in the world.

The most important difference, though, was starkly highlighted by the side-by-side presentations. For Trump, the supposed businessman, everything is a war, every question an attack, and every attack demands a counterpunch. Biden, the career politician, treated each encounter as a sale. When he was challenged—on fracking and the Green New Deal, for example—he did not counterpunch. He made a counteroffer.

Trump needs enemies. After the debate, his campaign released this statement: “President Trump soundly defeated NBC’s Savannah Guthrie in her role as debate opponent and Joe Biden surrogate. President Trump masterfully handled Guthrie’s attacks and interacted warmly and effectively with the voters in the room.” The Biden campaign was not so quick to offer its own release, in part because Biden lingered afterward in the hall, talking and taking questions face-to-face, but perhaps also because it did not feel the need to identify a target for hate and rage.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

At the end of the scheduled time, each candidate was invited to address a broader question. Guthrie asked Trump what he would say to uncertain voters. A questioner from the audience asked Biden what he would do to unite the country in the event that he lost the election in November. Trump answered by saying that he would tell the undecided voter what a great job he was doing as president. Biden answered that if he lost, he would have to accept that he had failed as a candidate—but that he would never accept that the divisions in the country are as real as Donald Trump wants them to be.

The contrast was striking and poignant. Even more striking: Trump failed to use his open opportunity effectively. He said nothing to that hypothetical undecided voter that was as forceful as his opening quasi-apology for QAnon, which he praised as a movement strongly opposed to pedophilia. That will be Trump’s most quoted statement of the evening. Biden, by contrast, contemplating defeat, delivered his best case for victory: a statement of faith in the country as something bigger than himself.

One of Trump’s spokespeople derided the Biden event as “an episode of Mister Rodgers Neighborhood.” (In authentic Trump style, she misspelled the name.) If this was meant to suggest that the evening was all smiles and saccharine—well, it only showed that the spokesperson had never watched the classic children’s program hosted by Fred Rogers.

Rogers well understood the darkness in the world. The maker of a documentary about him explained: “What he’s doing is not just providing joy for children but really trying to allay fear.” But of course, in Trump world, allaying fear is the last thing you want to do. What you want to do in Trump world is incite fear, stoke fear, manipulate fear, and exploit fear. That can apparently work—at least with some people, and at least for a limited time. But only for some people, and only for a limited time. Rogers’s show ran for decades. The Man in the High Castle ended after four seasons.

No aspect of Donald Trump’s business has been the subject of more speculation than his debt load. Lots of people believe the president owes $400 million, especially after Trump seemed to agree with that figure on national television Thursday night. Trump Threatens to ‘Leave the Country’ If He Loses

At a campaign rally in Macon, Georgia President Trump speculated on losing the presidential election to Joe Biden.

Said Trump: “You know what? Running against the worst candidate in the history of American politics puts pressure on me. Could you imagine if I lose? My whole life—what am I going to do? I’m going to say, I lost to the worst candidate in the history of politics!”

He added: “I’m not going to feel so good. Maybe I’ll have to leave the country, I don’t know.”

Sources have told Fox News that 'the big guy' is a reference to the former vice president.

One of the people on an explosive email thread allegedly involving Hunter Biden has corroborated the veracity of the messages, which appear to outline a payout for former Vice President Joe Biden as part of a deal with a Chinese energy firm.

One email, dated May 13, 2017, and obtained by Fox News, includes a discussion of “remuneration packages” for six people in a business deal with a Chinese energy firm. The email appeared to identify Hunter Biden as “Chair / Vice Chair depending on agreement with CEFC,” in an apparent reference to now-bankrupt CEFC China Energy Co.
The email includes a note that “Hunter has some office expectations he will elaborate.” A proposed equity split references “20” for “H” and “10 held by H for the big guy?” with no further details. Fox News spoke to one of the people who was copied on the email, who confirmed its authenticity.
Sources told Fox News that "the big guy" is a reference to the former vice president. The New York Post initially published the emails and other controversial messages that Fox News has also obtained.

The Biden campaign denied any such meeting, and its accounts, based on recollections of multiple staff members, are believable. It was a somewhat curious batch of polls. If you didn’t look closely, you might view it as one of the president’s best polling days in weeks, at least at the state level. But it turned out that many of the state results Friday were from the pollsters who tend to give President Trump his best results.

A better day for President Trump? An even race in Florida? Up one in Michigan? Down just five in Pennsylvania? Those are poll results President Trump would be thrilled to have right now, as most polls show him at a significant disadvantage nationwide and in the critical battleground states. But for the most part, these aren’t a relatively favorable set of poll results for him — they’re simply results from a relatively favorable set of polling firms.

Trafalgar Group showed Mr. Trump up by one point in Michigan, but Trafalgar lands pretty consistently about six points to the right of the national average. It’s the clearest partisan tilt of any polling firm this cycle.

HarrisX doesn’t lean quite as far to the right as Trafalgar, but it has been about four points to the right of the national average since the first debate. Over that period, it has had two national polls showing Joe Biden up just five and seven points. In that context, its polls showing Mr. Biden up by 11 in Michigan, five in Pennsylvania and tied in Florida seem pretty standard — and that Michigan result would be great for Mr. Biden by any standard.

OH, WHAT A TRULY BEAUTIFUL MORNING!

Republican Senators Begin to Edge Away From Trump
7:53 am EDT

“For nearly four years, congressional Republicans have ducked and dodged an unending cascade of offensive statements and norm-shattering behavior from President Trump, ignoring his caustic and scattershot Twitter feed and penchant for flouting party orthodoxy, and standing quietly by as he abandoned military allies, attacked American institutions and stirred up racist and nativist fears,” the New York Times reports.

“But now, facing grim polling numbers and a flood of Democratic money and enthusiasm that has imperiled their majority in the Senate, Republicans on Capitol Hill are beginning to publicly distance themselves from the president. The shift, less than three weeks before the election, indicates that many Republicans have concluded that Mr. Trump is heading for a loss in November. And they are grasping to save themselves and rushing to re-establish their reputations for a coming struggle for their party’s identity.”

JOE MADE A STATEMENT TO CBS

Bo Erickson CBS
@BoKnowsNews

I asked Joe Biden: What is your response to the NYPost story about your son, sir?

He called it a “smear campaign” and then went after me. “I know you’d ask it. I have no response, it’s another smear campaign, right up your alley, those are the questions you always ask.”

Funny, now their is now a second independent source and research so far has confirmed facts (addresses, email accounts, timelines). Fox has confirmed that this was without a doubt Hunter's laptop.

Only in a banana republic would Biden still have a chance of becoming president.

But liars will continue to support him.

@BoKnowsNews news director @TheSteveHolzer reprimanded him tonight in public for asking Joe Biden a tough question. He should be fired immediately. He deleted the tweet but I did him the favor of saving it for him. Does @CBSNews stand behind this "journalism?"

It was a fair question which Biden ducked.

There is zero evidence of "Russian" disinformation.

There is a ton of evidence of Biden corruption. And Hillary and Obama and FBI...

The Biden campaign said that the fact that Twitter was blocking the New York Post article about Hunter Biden's emails proved it was false, so does that mean that Twitter now allowing the article proves that it's true?

I guess that would be logical

ROFLMFAO !!!

And there is zero evidence that the russians did not try. yet!!!!........!!!!!!! I guess it is just all rumor and speculation that they haven't in the past either......BWAAAAAAAAAA

Sickening thought, but not far-fetched. The FBI held the info, waiting for Biden to win the election, so they could then manipulate the President of the U. S.

You also have to ask what China and Russia is getting from the Bidens for their large cash donations...

funny, none of this was on their tax returns...

Media: If you relentlessly believed & pushed bogus and ridiculous rumors peddled by a Russian spy and a Russian oligarch's agent that were secretly funded and compiled by Hillary Clinton and the DNC, you can certainly report on actual documents regarding the Biden family.

You would certainly think so.

The American people aren't stupid.

Sarah Palin actually makes a good point when she tweeted imagine if Hunter's last name was Trump, Bush,or Palin.

This media double standard is part of the reason Trump voters stick by him.
