This is a great article if you want to concentrate on fact vs hysteria

Here’s how the media is misreporting COVID-19’s death toll in America

The CDC estimated that about 177,000 Americans died during the 2017-2018 flu season, from either the flu itself or by complications of pneumonia. (The CDC never made a public announcement about this number, but you can count it yourself from data on its site, as I did in the chart below.) That was a bad year, noted at the time, but mostly by medical professionals. Those with good memories will recall seeing more “Wash Your Hands” and “Cough Into Your Elbows” posters.
Still, nobody remembers a panic. Just as nobody remembers mask mandates or political leaders shutting down small businesses and locking the healthy in their homes. Because, of course, none of that happened. (This lack of panics during past pandemics is detailed in our book, “The Price of Panic: How the Tyranny of Experts Turned a Pandemic into a Catastrophe.”)

Given we have no real tangible or empirical evidence that our over the top reaction to this virus has helped us considerably, it's probably fair to say that we (as a country) have been manipulated by certain people who have made this into a more catastrophic event than it had to be.

Originally there was a time when the whole world expected the Covid virus to quite literally be about ten times worse than it has turned out. Original models for US deaths ran into the millions and many medical professionals warned that the death rate upwards of five percent was quite possibly in the cards.

So when we were actually looking at something that killed one in twenty that caught the disease, it seems rather prudent to panic a little. But we seem to have continued, if not increased the panic rate, even as it became evident that original estimates were wildly overstated.

It turns out that our Covid death are currently running about 13% ahead of what the 2017-2018 flu season accounted for. Moreover, the average death rate is equal to or below the flu for pretty much every age group under fifty-five years of age. The virus only gets noticeably more deadly when you get into those sixty-five and above and escalating dramatically for those over seventy-five.

Think about all of the sports games that have been cancelled over Covid outbreaks. Think about all of the political figures over just the past few weeks that have tested positive. How many of those sports figures have died? Not one so far has been reported by either a professional or college sports team. How many of those elderly unhealthy political figures went down to Covid? Other than Herman Cain (who was in his 70s with a history of medical issues), I cannot think of anyone else who passed, in spite of widespread panic over those who tested positive.

Recently, the idea has been floated by a CNN legal analyst that not following all safety precautions should be considered some sort of criminal action, as in attempted murder. But the problem with this is that your actions have to be actually tied to a very real threat of death... which like it or not simply doesn't' exist here. A positive test in and of itself has become almost meaningless from a health standpoint for a vast majority of the public.

So why the panic over people testing positive for a virus that for most people is less serious than catching the flu? Unless someone can provide me with a detailed logical explanation for this, I will continue to simply believe that most of the liberals in this country are either gaslighted or attempting to be in on the gaslighting themselves. Maybe they are being fooled, or maybe they know better, but choose to act fooled anyways.

Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died. By comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected.

According to WOM - the rate for the United States is 2.6%.

More to the point, antibody tests provided to gauge the herd immunity levels indicate that we have seen approximately ten times the amount of cases than have been "reported" with positive testing. Most people who contract the virus would never feel symptoms bad enough to have themselves tested.

That means that the real rate of death is closer to 0.26% not 3.4%.

And more to the point, Roger...

177,000 people died of the Flu or flu related pneumonia in 2017-2018 and currently (in spite of all of the social distancing and mask wearing) we have seen almost 90,000 deaths from Flu and pneumonia during the same 2020 Covid outbreak.

In reality Roger... I still don't personally know anyone personally who has passed from Covid. I have heard about friends who have had other relatives or relatives of friend pass from it. But even then, we are talking elderly people (such as yourself) with obvious health concerns.

It seems that Democrats now have a standard for dealing with anything that puts their candidates in a bad light — blame Russia. That’s the case with Sen. Chris Murphy, who is very angry that the media isn’t completely ignoring the Hunter Biden story.

He’s also of the opinion this was all cooked up by the Russians (who happen to be everywhere, you know) who apparently turned Rudy Giuliani into an asset.

We’re not kidding. The Trump Derangement Syndrome is powerful with this one.

The guy seems kind of paranoid. Do you think that when he goes to sleep at night, Chris Murphy checks under his bed and in the closet for Russkies? Maybe he thinks they are playing with the monsters under his bed that he imagined as a child.

Do you see the trend here? Something bad about their guy comes out. Instantly, Facebook and Twitter jump in to provide cover while giving them more excuses to censor conservatives.

Instead of seriously considering the allegations, Democrats immediately jump to “Russia, Russia, Russia.” Facts be damned.

Twitter has removed a tweet from White House coronavirus adviser Dr. Scott Atlas that claimed masks don't work to stop the spread of COVID-19.

"Masks work? NO," Atlas had tweeted Saturday, followed by misrepresentations of the science behind the effectiveness of masks in battling the coronavirus pandemic. Atlas also shared a link to an article in The American Institute for Economic Research that argues against the effectiveness of masks.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends people wear masks in public settings around people who don't live in their household, especially when it is not possible to maintain social distancing. "Masks help stop the spread of COVID-19 to others," the CDC states on its website.

and two years ago... 177,000 Americans died of the flu?

I find it odd that 177,000 is nothing to you. Do nothing. No mandates, shut downs, riots, or anything. But add a 30-40K to that number and now you see the biggest plague to ever hit the world.

Why didn't you care about the 177,000 people who died from the flu two years ago? Why didn't you wear a mask, social distance, and stay inside 90% of your time to protect Americans from catching the flu?

I will tell you why Roger.

It's extremely simple and predictable.

You were not "told by the Government" to do it 2 years ago.
You are being "told by the Government" to do it today.

That's the only real difference. You do as you are told, like any good citizen in a fascist state.

“Biden’s national buys are seen as a key ingredient in making former swing states like Ohio and Iowa look like battlegrounds again. The campaign is advertising heavily on shows such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, which are popular among seniors, and older people especially are watching more TV during the pandemic.

“Biden’s ad buys are also ‘deep,’ spanning 32 networks that range from Fox to Animal Planet to the DIY network and History Channel.”

The state is one of just two in the nation — the other is Maine — that awards Electoral College votes by congressional district. In this reddest of red states, Donald Trump is on a trajectory to lose one of them.

“In the 2nd District, which includes largely Democratic Omaha and its largely Republican suburbs, the president is running 6 or 7 percentage points behind Joe Biden, according to public and private polling. It’s a case study of his collapse in the suburbs, an example of how the president’s alienation of a traditional Republican constituency is proving costly to his reelection campaign — and how his increasingly desperate last-minute appeals to suburbanites are going unheeded.”

“President Trump leaned into fear tactics Saturday as he accused the left of trying to ‘destroy the American way of life’ in a late reelection pitch to voters in Michigan and Wisconsin — two Midwestern states that were instrumental to his 2016 victory but may now be slipping from his grasp. In back-to-back rallies, Trump accused the left of wanting to ‘erase American history’ and ‘purge American values.’ He claimed, with no basis, that Democratic rival Joe Biden would put communities at risk.

“Trump offered the dark message as he faces headwinds not only in national polling, which shows Biden leading, but also in key battleground surveys. His comments come after his campaign, with far less cash than Biden’s, largely retreated from TV advertising in the Midwest, shifting much of its money to Sun Belt states such as Florida, North Carolina, Arizona and Georgia, as well as Pennsylvania.”

Fort Worth Star Telegram
Cornyn says he broke with Trump on deficit, border wall, but kept opposition private

5:30 AM
U.S. Sen. John Cornyn acknowledged Friday that at times he has disagreed with President Trump on issues such as budget deficits and debt, tariffs and trade agreements and border security.

But, the senior Republican senator from Texas, who is being challenged by Democrat MJ Hegar, said he chose to work on those disagreements with the president’s staff in private discussions, rather than by publicly voicing his opposition.

Although polls show Cornyn with a small lead over Hegar, both candidates are vying for undecided voters during an extraordinary election season in which many once-solid Republican public office seats are now in reach for Democrats.

During a meeting with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Editorial Board, Cornyn was asked if he and other Republicans regretted not pushing Trump to combat the COVID-19 virus more aggressively, or rein in some of his political stances that were unpopular or stood little chance of passing in Congress.

Cornyn initially described his relationship with Trump as “maybe like a lot of women who get married and think they’re going to change their spouse, and that doesn’t usually work out very well.”

Cornyn continued: “I think what we found is that we’re not going to change President Trump. He is who he is. You either love him or hate him, and there’s not much in between. What I tried to do is not get into public confrontations and fights with him because, as I’ve observed, those usually don’t end too well.”

IN OTHER WORDS, THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS WITH TRUMP IS TO BE HIS SYCOPHANT.

Cornyn noted that his friend, former U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., who initially was on cordial terms with Trump’s White House, opted not to run for re-election in 2018 after clashing with Trump on issues such as a border wall.

Cornyn said he worked well with the president on judicial nominations, Hurricane Harvey relief, a U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade deal and tax cuts. In those situations, Cornyn said, he was comfortable praising Trump’s work publicly.

“But when I have had differences of opinion, which I have, I do that privately,” Cornyn said. “I have found that has allowed me to be much more effective, I believe, than to satisfy those who say I ought to call him out or get into a public fight with him.”

For example, Cornyn said he expressed concerns over budget deficits and debt with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, during discussions about COVID-19 stimulus aid.

Cornyn said he also disagreed with the way Trump handled trade agreements with China and other Asian countries. Trump in 2017 pulled the United States out of a Trans-Pacific Partnership, an agreement that would have expanded trade in 12 countries.

“I applaud him for standing up to China but, frankly, this idea that China is paying the price and we’re not paying the price here at home is just not true,” Cornyn said.

Cornyn also opposed taking money from the defense budget to build portions of a border wall, saying he is “very much a defense hawk” who disagreed with the use of national security funds for that purpose.

Ron Johnson says FBI needs to provide answers on Hunter Biden laptop saga

A top Senate Republican who has been investigating issues related to the foreign business dealings of former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, is pressing FBI Director Christopher Wray for details related to emails purportedly from the younger Biden’s laptop and whether the bureau is investigating the saga after the FBI has declined to provide answers.

Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, sent a letter to Wray on Saturday, noting that a “whistleblower” had reached out to his committee on Sept. 24, the day after the release of a report by Johnson and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley’s joint report titled Hunter Biden, Burisma, and Corruption, and had “informed my staff that he had possession of a laptop left in his business by Hunter Biden.”

The New York Post released a number of stories this week based on the emails, with Twitter spending two days blocking the stories from being shared before relenting.

The alleged whistleblower, revealed to be computer repairman John Paul Mac Isaac, “also informed us that he provided its contents to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in response to a December 9, 2019 grand jury subpoena.” The Wisconsin Republican said the FBI had an obligation to provide basic answers to the Senate about the emails related to the younger Biden’s foreign business dealings (especially amid unverified Democratic claims that the story is a Russian disinformation operation) but said the FBI had failed to provide any details.

“As the first step in our due diligence, committee staff contacted FBI officials and asked for confirmation of certain facts in an attempt to validate the whistleblower’s claims and assertions. Unfortunately, several days later, the FBI responded that it would not confirm or deny any information identified by the committee even though several of our questions were not related to the possible existence of an ongoing grand jury investigation,” Johnson told Wray on Saturday.

He continued: “I have a responsibility to validate and verify the contents of any information produced to my committee. The committee must know if it receives information that could be fraudulent or not accurate. As my staff explained to FBI officials, this information is crucial for several reasons. For example, if any information offered to the committee was linked to a foreign adversary’s attempt to interfere in the election, I would expect the FBI to ensure the committee is protected and receives a defensive briefing. Similarly, knowingly providing false information to Congress is a crime, and I would expect the FBI to have informed me if, after having been given notice of what we received, this may have occurred. That is precisely why my staff reached out to the FBI. For these reasons, the committee must know whether the FBI has assessed the validity of materials the whistleblower has provided, and what, if any, actions the FBI has taken since obtaining this information.”

Two Million ‘Saved’ Lives

At the same time Trump is disparaging lockdowns in his tweets and rallies, he also mentions that 2 million American lives were saved — an odd feature to highlight, since state-issued stay-at-home orders likely helped avoid COVID-19 deaths.

“We saved 2 million lives,” Trump said during his Johnstown rally. “They said 2.2 million people, we saved 2 million lives and you know we get nothing.”

As of Oct. 14, more than 216,000 Americans have died from COVID-19, according to the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker — although the true death toll is almost certainly higher.

We’ve explained before that an early model from Imperial College London projected in March that the U.S. could lose 2.2 million people to the pandemic. But that high death toll assumed no mitigation measures were used at all — and that people also wouldn’t modify their behavior.

In other words, it’s not necessarily a realistic benchmark against which to measure the administration’s success.

Research does support the idea that lockdowns — which were instituted by states, not Trump — saved lives earlier this year, although it’s hard to say how many.

A paper published in the journal Nature concluded that lockdowns prevented some 60 million infections in the U.S., but didn’t venture a guess as to how many deaths were averted.

Similarly, Columbia University researchers estimated that if the U.S. had implemented social distancing one week earlier in March, 36,000 fewer people would have died.

The terrorists President.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Sunday said U.S. President Donald Trump’s criticism of her at a rally was “incredibly disturbing” after he called her “dishonest” and drew shouts of “lock her up” from the crowd.

Whitmer, the target an alleged kidnapping plot that was uncovered by the FBI earlier this month, accused Trump of inciting domestic terrorism with his rhetoric. The Democratic governor was speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday.

Trump at a rally in Michigan on Saturday slammed her support for restrictions to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus, which has surged in parts of the United States in recent weeks.

During an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Trump’s criticism of Whitmer irresponsible.

“The president has to realize that the words of the president of the United States weigh a ton,” Pelosi, the top elected Democrat, said. “The biggest antidote to his poison is the vote,” she said.

Trump faces re-election on Nov. 3 and trails Democratic challenger Joe Biden in public opinion polls. The Republican president won Michigan narrowly in 2016, but Biden currently has an edge in that battleground state, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos survey of likely voters.

For an interactive look at Reuters polling, including on the U.S. election, open (polling.reuters.com/) in a separate browser.

Trump’s remarks targeting Whitmer led to chants of “lock her up” at the rally on Saturday, a phrase Trump supporters often directed at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump in 2016.

You just made the connection': Top senator asked if FBI investigated child pornography on Hunter Biden's laptop

A top Republican senator acknowledged the possibility that the FBI investigated whether there was child pornography on a laptop that allegedly belonged to Hunter Biden.

Journalist Maria Bartiromo asked Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, about a Business Insider report that described faint handwriting on a subpoena served last year to a Delaware business that was given a computer to repair but never retrieved. The device purportedly contained data about foreign business dealings and other matters related to the son of former Vice President Joe Biden.

The subpoena appeared to show the FBI agent who served it was someone named "Joshua Wilson." There was a Joshua Wilson, according to a Star-Ledger report published last year, who was an FBI agent based in New Jersey who spent nearly five years investigating child pornography, but it remains unclear if this is the same Wilson and what exactly the bureau was investigating.

Bartiromo twice asked Johnson, a lead congressional investigator, if he knows of any connection on her Fox News program, Sunday Morning Futures.

"I think you just made the connection. Again, this is what the FBI, I think, has to come clean about," the Wisconsin Republican said in his first reply. Johnson was alluding to his letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray about the laptop sent last week.

Pressed a second time after his initial response, the senator said he could not comment any further.

"I don't want to speculate, other than to say that — what I said publicly before. Our report uncovered so many troubling connections, so many things that need to be investigated, that I really think we're just scratching the surface," Johnson said. "And, yes, I have heard all kinds of things that I think will probably be revealed over the next few days."

It is important to note, as Trump did Thursday night, that he also has significant assets. Forbes values them at $3.66 billion, enough to make his net worth an estimated $2.5 billion. He is not broke, despite what many critics claim.

Of course he didn't mention it because it was inconvenient to his point. It's also important to point out that the net revenue (that's profit to you and me) generated from these properties is more than enough to service the debt.

Trump's rallies make no political sense. Here's why he does them anyway.

(CNN)President Donald Trump's bout with coronavirus gave him the chance for a reset on the top 2020 election issue. Characteristically, he has spurned it.

Instead of projecting newfound empathy and sobriety, Trump has flaunted his recklessness at packed, mostly maskless campaign rallies. That gleeful abandon, as he bleeds support from voters fearing he hasn't taken the pandemic seriously, makes no political sense.

But it makes perfect emotional sense for a President who craves the applause of a zealous minority. His hunger for affirmation explains much about his conduct of the presidency -- and why it may soon come to an end.

Trump won the White House by eking out an Electoral College majority on the strength of a narrow but intense support base among less-educated White conservatives. He lost the popular vote, and became the first president in the era of modern polling never to reach 50% approval.

Nor has Trump seriously tried to broaden his appeal. Even after a wrenching midterm election defeat in 2018, he refused to temper his vitriolic style or hard-right approach to issues from immigration to taxation to health care to the environment.
He prefers the safety and comfort of audiences that already embrace him over the uncertainty and risk of encountering those who don't.
As President, he has visited West Virginia, which he won in 2016 by 42 percentage points, eight times. By the tally of CBS White House Correspondent and real-time historian Mark Knoller, that's the same number of visits as he's made to California, which has a population 20 times larger but rejected him by 30 points.

Fighting from behind in his reelection campaign, Trump now lavishes attention on battleground states. But he still won't moderate his message.

Once the pandemic shook Americans and shattered the economy, political prudence argued for an aggressive, focused federal response. Trump refused, indulging the reluctance of supporters who imagined it would mostly harm blue states but spare red ones.

Once racial justice protests mushroomed in the wake of George Floyd's killing by police, public sentiment favored a conciliatory approach. Trump chose "law and order" crackdowns pitched to the ire of blue-collar White supporters.

After institutions from NASCAR to the Pentagon shunned divisive Confederate emblems, accepting 21st-century racial sensibilities became a political no-brainer. Trump defiantly sheltered the prejudices of allies who fear change in a diversifying America.

While debating Democratic nominee Joe Biden at a moment when open racism represents the foremost taboo in contemporary society, Trump ducked an invitation to condemn White supremacists who back him. In his NBC town hall last week, Trump dared not even condemn the lunatic theories of QAnon adherents who have embraced his presidency from the deluded, extremist fringe.

In theory, that might reflect a considered strategy of turbocharging turnout among existing supporters when persuading other voters is fruitless. But Trump's tactics have been so obviously self-defeating as to render that explanation insufficient. It also overlooks his propensity for impulsivity over planning.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

"He doesn't think strategically," observed Tim O'Brien, one of Trump's biographers, who served as an adviser to Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg. "He's completely visceral and reactive."

In her recent book, Trump's niece said a harsh family upbringing had left him with a "fragile ego" that drives him toward the cheers of a crowd. "He knows he has never been loved," wrote Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist.

Two weeks ago, Trump left his sickbed and endangered his Secret Service detail simply to wave at supporters outside Walter Reed hospital from his limousine. Last week, he defied public health advice to stalk the campaign trail in Florida, Pennsylvania, Iowa, North Carolina, Georgia and Wisconsin.

If Trump stages a comeback in the dwindling days of the campaign, in-person rallies are unlikely to be the cause. Research shows that such events exert marginal, fleeting influence on the electorate. The preeminence of social media over local news coverage "suggests the effect will be even smaller in this cycle," noted Thomas Wood, an Ohio State University political scientist who has advised Republican candidates.

Yet rallies provide psychic gratification Trump cannot find watching bleak television coverage of his presidency from the White House. Dancing to "YMCA," slinging masks from the stage, modulating his voice like a vaudeville performer, he draws energy from his fans' adoration.

In a year of violent discord, polls show a broad swath of Americans fear his truculence makes the country less safe. But his North Carolina crowd cheered his boast about the killing of a murder suspect by US Marshals.

Most Americans no longer believe him about the pandemic he downplayed from the start. But at his rallies, they do.

Most Americans heed Dr. Anthony Fauci, a fact campaign advisers have recognized by using the eminent scientist in ads against his will. At Trump's rallies, supporters laugh as he mocks Fauci.
________

Most Americans are going to kick him out of the White House.

Videos provided to The Post — covering dozens of hours of CNP meetings over three days in February and three in August — offer an inside view of participants’ obsessions and fears at a pivotal moment in the conservative movement. The videos, recorded by CNP to share with its members, show influential activists discussing election tactics, amplifying conspiracy theories and describing much of America in dark and apocalyptic terms.

“This is a spiritual battle we are in. This is good versus evil,” CNP’s executive committee president, Bill Walton, said on Aug. 21, addressing attendees at the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City. “We have to do everything we can to win.”

Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, told attendees that same day that the left is “war-gaming” a plan to delay the election tally until Jan. 20, 2021, and enable House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to become acting president. “This is kind of like crazy talk” among political people, Fitton said. But he added: “This is not an insignificant concern.”

Expressing concern about voter fraud and disenfranchisement, Fitton called on the audience to find a way to prevent mail-in ballots from being sent to voters. “We need to stop those ballots from going out, and I want the lawyers here to tell us what to do,” said Fitton, whose organization is a tax-exempt charity. “But this is a crisis that we’re not prepared for. I mean, our side is not prepared for.”

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump called on Friday night for Joe Biden and his family to be jailed, escalating his attacks on his Democratic opponent over unsupported accusations as he struggles to reverse his deficit in the polls.

“Lock up the Bidens. Lock up Hillary,” Trump declared at a rally in Macon, Georgia, stoking the crowd that chanted “lock him up” in favor of the Democratic candidate’s imprisonment.

“We’ve learned over the last couple of months: Joe Biden is a corrupt politician,” Trump said to his supporters, “and the Biden family is a criminal enterprise.”

Trump frequently demanded that his 2016 Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, be incarcerated over her use of a private email server as secretary of state. It was believed to be the first time he has ever used that sort of attack against the Bidens.

The FBI declined in 2016 to recommend charges against Clinton for sending a small number of classified emails through a private server at her New York home.

Earlier: Facebook, Twitter Restrictions on Biden Article Infuriate Trump

Trailing behind Biden in most opinion polls with the election less than three weeks away, Trump has zeroed in on a New York Post report from earlier this week that highlights documents purporting to show the business dealings of Joe Biden’s son Hunter in Ukraine and China.

The Post article, citing unverified emails from a laptop abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop, alleged that Hunter Biden introduced a Ukrainian businessman to his father, who has said he’s never talked with his son about his international business dealings. The emails provided no proof of a meeting. The businessman, according to the article, thanked Hunter Biden for “the opportunity to meet your father.”

The Biden campaign said his calendars turned up no record that the former vice president ever met with the businessman.

The laptop’s hard drive was given to Trump ally Steve Bannon, who gave it to Rudy Giuliani’s lawyer, Robert Costello. Giuliani, the former New York mayor and Trump’s lawyer, gave it to the Post.

“I have no response. Another smear campaign,” Biden said Friday when asked about the reports.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that Trump was warned last year that Giuliani had become the target of Russian intelligence for an influence operation. Giuliani’s efforts to obtain disparaging information about the Bidens from Ukrainian officials contributed to Trump’s impeachment in the House of Representatives.

Earlier: Trump Praises Congressional Candidate Who Has Backed QAnon

Biden and Trump are scheduled to meet for a presidential debate in Nashville next Thursday, their final encounter of the 2020 campaign.

During the rally, Trump raised the possibility of a loss to Biden, though making light of it.

“I shouldn’t joke because you know what, running against the worst candidate in the history of presidential politics puts pressure on me,” he said. “Could you imagine if I lose? My whole life, what am I going to do, I’m going to say, I lost to the worst candidate in the history of politics. I’m not going to feel so good. Maybe I’ll have to leave the country, I don’t know.”

What Trump’s Debate Coaches Are Telling Him
5:40 pm

“President Trump’s team is telling him ahead of Thursday’s final debate:
Stop interrupting Joe Biden
and try to be more likable,”
Axios reports.

“Trump will tell more jokes and try,
if he can stay on message, to strike a softer tone.
At the same time, aides expect Trump to keep going after Biden’s son Hunter.

“Trump’s team thinks that if he’d just yield the stage to Biden while the moderator is asking questions,
Biden would wander rhetorically,
‘look doddering’ and ‘step on himself.'”

_______________

"In other words, Donald, you'll be appearing on stage with a man who even Lindsey Graham has said is one of the nicest, most DECENT people he has ever met...
So you see, you're going to have to put on a HUGE act and try to PRETEND that YOU are decent too.
We know, it's a lot to ask of you, a Herculean task for you, but you've got to TRY to pull it off.

(CNN) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday she and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin must reach an agreement within 48 hours if they want to pass a coronavirus stimulus relief bill before Election Day.

"The 48 only relates to if we want to get it done before the election, which we do," Pelosi said in an interview on ABC's "This Week." "But we're saying to them we have to freeze the design on some of these things. Are we going with it or not? And what is the language."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced on Saturday there would be votes on stimulus measures, including a stand-alone Paycheck Protection Program bill to help small businesses, on Tuesday and Wednesday. But Democrats, who are expected to block McConnell's effort, have been pushing for a larger deal, banking on on-again, off-again talks that Pelosi has had with Mnuchin for months.

Pelosi's office told CNN Sunday that the 48 hours refers to the end of the day on Tuesday and that they need answers to key outstanding questions by then or they won't be able to get a bill passed before the election. Negotiations would still continue after Tuesday if a deal isn't reached, but it wouldn't get done in time before Election Day.

The California Democrat also said during the interview with ABC the White House has watered down language Democrats have been pushing to create a national plan for Covid-19 testing and contact tracing. She also noted that the Trump administration had changed much of the language on testing and tracing after the two sides seemingly came to an agreement last week.

"They took out 55% of the language that we had there for testing and tracing," Pelosi said, and noted that they are "seeking clarity" on the details of the language.

Pelosi and Mnuchin, Trump's lead negotiator, spoke Saturday evening for more than an hour.

This could have some effect on the election.

TRUMP CALLS FOR '12 MORE YEARS'..?

"Trump holds a rally in Carson City, NV. Early voting began yesterday in Nevada, and is now underway in half the country. At a rally in Michigan yesterday, Trump twice urged the crowd to chant '12 more years' instead of '4 more years,' suggesting yet again that he might stay in office for more than two terms. As the election nears, Trump has been leaning more heavily into violent and racist rhetoric. Yesterday he twice encouraged the crowd in Michigan to chant 'lock her up' in regards to Gov. Whitmer, and joked about the alleged domestic terror plot that recently targeted her. Three times he promised to protect 'our heritage,' a phrase widely regarded as a white supremacist dog whistle. Three times he made the false and insulting claim that Rep. Ilhan Omar 'hates,' America, and suggested that she shouldn't 'tell us how to run our country,' even though this is her country as much as his. Hate crimes have been on the rise since Trump began his first campaign in 2015. Last year the FBI reported that violent hate crimes in the U.S. had hit a 16 year high.

What do you think?

“Fueled by personal grievance, the president has tried to amplify stories that diehard Fox News viewers know by heart but have not broken through to a broader public consumed with the sole issue that has defined the campaign: the president’s management of the pandemic. He’s highlighting his difficulties with key constituencies, like women and older voters, by wondering out loud why they’ve forsaken him, rather than offering a message to bring more of them back into his camp.

We have just observed Constitution Day, the celebration of a document that established the rules — the empowerments and constraints that create the governmental playing field — and shaped the democratic norms that have heretofore held off tyrannical ambitions. Never before, not even during the days of the court-defying Andrew Jackson nor the criminality of Richard Nixon, have the rules and norms of democracy been so threatened. I don’t dismiss the centrality of “issues” — health care, climate, immigration, international alliances — but this is that rare election when what is at stake is not the seeking of advantage in the policy wars but the nature of American public life.Lose this one — allow Donald Trump four more years to undermine traditions, norms, practices, rules, behaviors, and policies that have defined the United States for the past 230 years — and it is liberal democracy itself that will be in peril. Here is a partial list of what is at stake, pieces of our political, civic, cultural, and social life that may very well not survive a further Trumpist dismantling:

The incomplete but persistent national commitment to the inclusion, and equal treatment of, all Americans. Americans have always know that “blue lives matter” and have long honored those who sign up at personal risk to serve and protect. But too many Americans have not understood that “all” means Black lives, too, which is why it has been important to underscore that important fact. That goal is still far from being realized but racism will only be nourished by a Trump victory in November.Similarly, the Constitution declares that among the purposes of the new American government is “to ensure domestic tranquility.” A Trump presidency is expert at inflaming violent tendencies, stirring hatred, and undermining any semblance of domestic tranquility.Under the Trumpist cult that has overtaken my Republican Party, no affront to American interests is subject to challenge. Republicans have traditionally been the party that stood against centralization of power in a single executive. Trumpism has built a new paradigm: presidential protections and prerogatives beyond anything imagined by Britain’s George III, whose excesses were sufficient to provoke American colonists to rise in treasonous revolution.

The United States is a powerful nation, but no nation is so powerful as to risk standing alone in an often-dangerous world. Donald Trump’s presidency has separated America from its allies and given encouragement to its enemies. He has unleashed dangerous genies that will not be easily stuffed back into a bottle. Much of the damage Trump has done risks permanent alteration of every aspect of America’s constitutional framework.

President Biden, should that fortunate circumstance occur, will have much to address and the rebuilding will be both urgent and difficult. But, if Donald Trump is reelected, the dismantling of America may be beyond repair and our children’s children will live in a dystopia previously limited to the darkest warnings of fiction. Donald Trump is not fiction; his is a chapter that must be closed.

Trump Biden Ukraine
FILE - In this Oct. 11, 2012, file photo, Hunter Biden waits for the start of the his father's, Vice President Joe Biden's, debate at Centre College in Danville, Ky. In 2014, then-Vice President Joe Biden was at the forefront of American diplomatic efforts to support Ukraine's fragile democratic government as it sought to fend off Russian aggression and root out corruption. So it raised eyebrows when Biden's son Hunter was hired by a Ukrainian gas company. President Donald Trump prodded Ukraine's president to help him investigate any corruption related to Joe Biden, now one of the top Democrats seeking to defeat Trump in 2020. More
The New York Post’s front-page article about Hunter Biden on Wednesday was written mostly by a staff reporter who refused to put his name on it, two Post employees said.

Bruce Golding, a reporter at the Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid since 2007, did not allow his byline to be used because he had concerns over the article’s credibility, the two Post employees said, speaking on the condition of anonymity out of fear of retaliation.

Coming late in a heated presidential campaign, the article suggested that Joe Biden had used his position to enrich his son Hunter when he was vice president. The Post based the story on photos and documents the paper said it had taken from the hard drive of a laptop purportedly belonging to Hunter Biden.

Many Post staff members questioned whether the paper had done enough to verify the authenticity of the hard drive’s contents, said five people with knowledge of the tabloid’s inner workings. Staff members also had concerns about the reliability of its sources and its timing, the people said.

The article named two sources: Stephen K. Bannon, the former adviser to President Donald Trump now facing federal fraud charges, who was said to have made the paper aware of the hard drive last month; and Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, who was said to have given the paper “a copy” of the hard drive on Oct. 11.

Giuliani said he chose The Post because “either nobody else would take it, or if they took it, they would spend all the time they could to try to contradict it before they put it out.”

Top editors met on Oct. 11 to discuss how to use the material provided by Giuliani. The group included tabloid veteran Colin Allan, known as Col; Stephen Lynch, The Post’s editor-in-chief; and Michelle Gotthelf, the digital editor-in-chief, according to a person with knowledge of the meeting. Allan, who was The Post’s editor-in-chief from 2001 to 2016 and returned last year as an adviser, urged his colleagues to move quickly, the person said.

I see the media is talking about the Biden Crime Family !!!

They are investigating media that doesn't bow down to "their" candidate!

As Joe says:

C'mon man. Ask the right kind of questions.

Or the big "O" Put the "right people" on it.

fascinating !!!

Former President Obama knows exactly what evidence exists against Biden. That's the point. That's the plan.

Install Biden/Harris then team Obama give the word to their allies in media, stop protecting, release the evidence and remove Biden. It's the Chicago way.

Anonymously sourced newsroom-malcontent gossip aside, no one has managed to puncture our reporting on the Hunter Files. No one.

Neither Hunter nor Joe denies the drive is real.

Neither denies the inculpating e-mails.

The forgery charge is laughable.

Maybe Obama will be too late in exposing Biden if it explodes before the election

Biden’s Top Labor Supporter Ends Re-Election Bid Following FBI Inquiry

With the announcement that the 20-year general president of the International Association of Fire Fighters will abruptly end his re-election bid, the organization’s reputation as a political force is in trouble. On Aug. 28, federal investigators served the IAFF a flurry of subpoenas, which the Wall Street Journal reports are part of a criminal probe focused on illicit payouts to Schaitberger from the firefighters’ pension fund. IAFF President Harold Schaitberger is, indeed, feeling the heat.

The investigation shines a light on the corrupt practices of politically connected union executives who put their interests above workers. Schaitberger is the top labor supporter of presidential candidate Joe Biden and was the earliest endorser of his primary campaign in April 2019. Yet, as a longtime IAFF local president, I can attest firsthand that Schaitberger’s political views are not widely shared by IAFF firefighters.

I was the first local president to publicly call for an investigation into the allegations against him by IAFF’s treasurer. Anyone who questioned Harold was demonized by his allies, but now the IAFF is being simultaneously subpoenaed by the FBI, U.S. attorney’s office, and Department of Labor — a vindication of our concerns that is long overdue.

The trail of breadcrumbs, however, is just beginning, and will likely lead to uncovering still more corruption and collusion at the expense of firefighters.

Unions are supposed to stand up for the underdogs, but we’ve allowed the bigwigs to start exploiting members in the interest of politics — or for their own gain. As a vice president of the AFL-CIO, Schaitberger has long been a major player in unions’ national political machine, with decades of experience directing the well-funded union lobby to push an agenda that goes far beyond firefighter health and safety. Furthermore, if, as Schaitberger hopes, Biden wins the election, the embattled union executive may be able to obtain a pardon from an old ally.

Because many rank-and-file firefighters passionately back President Trump, IAFF’s endorsement of Biden has met with a stern rebuke. While Schaitberger championed the endorsement on the union’s website, he failed to mention that there was no vote by the membership or even the local presidents. Instead, the decision was made by a committee of 16 bureaucrats from Schaitberger’s inner circle, many who haven’t fought a fire in years.
