After investigating the fake Russian collusion hoax for three years...

Democrats mad as hell that allegations of election fraud will be looked into?

Certainly we can all look back and make our own determination as to how useful the Russian Collusion investigation (and Special Counsel) actually were. After all, there was never "any" evidence provided by "anyone" at "anytime" that "any" of the rumors were actually true. But as it stood, there was a large segment of the population that would have never been satisfied had there not been any investigation.

For those of us who were smart enough from the start to know it was a hoax (smarter than a 5th grader), the idea that it went on for literally years was frustrating and in many ways the most corrupt use of law enforcement and intelligence in the history of our country. But at the very least, it provide some "closure" for a vast majority of the country (at least for those who knew it was a hoax and for those who had an open mind).

Moreover, the allegations of election tampering in places like Wisconsin were actually gone over with a fine tooth comb, only to come to the conclusion that there was not any evidence of machine tampering when compared to actual ballots, and that the vote counts were accurate. Recounts and other election interference allegations were also looked into in the wake of the 2016 Trump win.

So while it probably will not make any difference to the results of the 2020 election, I believe fully that the integrity of this election (and future elections) will be determined by whether or not these allegations of fraud are investigated. If we just cover it up and move on (which we didn't do in 2016) then we do the entire county a disservice. Why was it so important to investigate under every nook and cranny when Trump won, but now the same people demand how important it is to just "move on" when it appears he has lost?

To be clear, even if the allegations of fraud are found to be 100% true, there is still little reason to believe it would affect the final output. But if there were poll workers counting illegal ballots or supervisors telling workers to count illegal ballots, then there should be criminal referrals (because this would be tampering and an election crime). If poll workers were actually stamping dates on ballots that were past the point of being counted, then those poll workers (and anyone who directed it) should be prosecuted. If GOP poll watchers were illegally prevented from watching poll workers, then whoever is responsible for that should face those legal consequences. For too long we have "looked the other way" or just brushed it aside with a "boys will be boys" sort of "big city Democrats will be big city Democrats" argument.

I think most of the country is fed up with this sort of shenanigans, and I would expect that even honest Democrats would be against any sort of cheating and would want people prosecuted for it (even if they were Democrats who were favoring Democratic ballots).

Moreover, if there were ballots sent to dead people and those dead people voted, then we need to figure out who received those ballots and who is responsible and they should be prosecuted for election fraud. Same with allegations of double voting, and other individual voting crimes that seem to go unpunished every year. The fact that these individual election crimes may not change the end result, doesn't make them any less of a crime... in the same manner that just because you didn't put a bank out of business when you robbed it, doesn't make bank robbing any less of a crime.

Make no mistake: every illegal vote counted disenfranchises one legal voter. For anyone who is not in favor of disenfranchising voters all need to stand together and demand that we remove any illegal activities from our election process or at the very least investigate until we can put it all to bed.

If you are against that, then you are against Democracy.

On December 14th they vote based upon the election results.

I'm not a lawyer but I think that the Trump administration is trying to stop this vote.

It could end up in the house of Representatives where each state has one vote. They could declare Trump the President elect.

On January 20th the American dream would come to an end.

The Trump campaign and its allies unveiled a new tactic to contest election vote counts, suing to stop state officials from finalizing results due to fraud allegations in Michigan and limits imposed on poll observers in Pennsylvania.

Judges likely would be reluctant to take the rare step of blocking final vote counts without seeing substantial evidence of fraud or irregularities widespread enough to change the election, legal analysts said.

President-elect Joe Biden was declared the winner by the Associated Press in Michigan and Pennsylvania by margins that election-law experts say would be difficult to overcome in court. In Michigan, Mr. Biden’s lead was 146,000 votes with 99% counted, and in Pennsylvania it was over 45,000 votes with 99% counted.

The Trump campaign filed a federal lawsuit in Pennsylvania, and a conservative legal group said it filed a state lawsuit in Michigan, calling on judges to block state officials from certifying the election results.

The Trump campaign’s Pennsylvania lawsuit alleges that poll observers were kept too far away from vote counters, and that voters in Republican- and Democratic-majority counties received different treatment during the election, in potential violation of the Constitution. The suit asks a judge to require Pennsylvania officials to invalidate ballots in cases where voters were notified and allowed to fix problems.

Philadelphia Republican election officials said they had set up an area where candidates and party representatives could view the room without impeding the vote-processing operation. State election officials have said they followed all

write us a lengthy comment in your own words without the plagiarism you perennially use as a crutch to dissect Scott's post, refute the points made and set him straight.

the fact is is that if the left had any respect for the rule of law as they claim, they would welcome every inquiry to into the machinations of this election. rushing it through gets your dementia patient into the oval office, but it does so under a massive and legitimate cloud of suspicion and illegitimacy. suspicion and illegitimacy i would add that you falsely assigned to Trump's victory which he won fair and square.

as it stands right now we have several legitimate reasons to believe that massive voter fraud on an industrial scale stole this election. evidence is being collected, signed affidavits compiled, and we have quite a climb to get to any sense of legitimacy and legality with this election.

now, i'm under no illusion that slow joe an da ho give one flying fuck about HOW they win as long as they win. this is how the left operates. they have no sense of honor or decency, and anything goes, no matter how corrupt. with the left the end ALWAYS justifies the means.

Trump Burrows Loyalists Inside Government
11:02 am
James Hohmann:
“Perhaps as consequential as President Trump FIRING Defense Secretary Mark Esper via tweet on Monday, which has been widely expected for months, was the HIRING of Michael Ellis to be the National Security Agency’s general counsel.

“As one of the most controversial staffers in the White House over the past four years, Ellis has shown himself to be as much a staunch Trump loyalist as anyone else in the administration. But his new job means that he will no longer be a political appointee. Instead, as a civilian member of the senior executive service, he gets protections that will make it quite difficult for President-elect Joe Biden to fire him.

“Burrowing down into what Trump derides as “the deep state” will give Ellis, a former Republican campaign operative, a powerful platform from which he could seek to complicate or undermine the incoming Democratic administration’s agenda. This is a preview of the sort of behavior from Trump that many on Biden’s transition team expect, and fear, during the lame-duck president’s final 71 days in power, even as he refuses to concede defeat.”

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

The Economic Divide Grows Wider
11:18 am
Brookings:
“The stark economic rift that Brookings Metro documented after Donald Trump’s shocking 2016 victory has grown even wider. In 2016, we wrote that the 2,584 counties that Trump won generated just 36% of the country’s economic output, whereas the 472 counties Hillary Clinton carried equated to almost two-thirds of the nation’s aggregate economy.

“A similar analysis for last week’s election shows these trends continuing, albeit with a different political outcome. This time, Biden’s winning base in 477 counties encompasses fully 70% of America’s economic activity, while Trump’s losing base of 2,497 counties represents just 29% of the economy. (Votes are still outstanding in 110 mostly low-output counties, and this piece will be updated as new data is reported.)”

Trump callously takes advantage of people who don't know better to make them think he cares for them, when he doesn't. That will become ever clearer, now.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Roberts suggested that allowing the challenge would dramatically expand the court’s practice when it comes to finding that a party has legal standing to bring a lawsuit.

He questioned whether the court should let “somebody not injured” by a provision “roam around through those thousands of pages” of the ACA and “pick out whichever ones” they want to take on.

Acting solicitor general Jeffrey B. Wall, representing the Trump administration, said the court would not be opening the floodgates or creating a massive loophole in its past practice. But he said Congress had “left standing the naked command to obtain insurance” when it eliminated the penalty.

“Those choices have legal consequences whether or not Congress foresaw them,” Wall said.

Roberts expresses skepticism about argument that parts of the law cannot be separated

By Amy Goldstein

Addressing the attorney representing the Republican states seeking to overturn the ACA, Roberts pushed back against the argument that parts of the law cannot be severed, even if one section is found unconstitutional.

“I think it’s hard for you to argue that Congress intended the entire act to fall if the mandate were struck down, when the same Congress that lowered the penalty [for not buying insurance] to zero did not even try to repeal the rest of the act,” Roberts said. “I think frankly, they wanted the court to do that. But that’s not our job.”

Kavanaugh suggests a ‘straightforward case for severability’

By Ann Marimow

Kavanaugh told the lawyer for the House that it is difficult to justify the legality of the individual mandate under Congress’s taxing authority now that the penalty has been reduced to zero.

But Kavanaugh said he is inclined to agree that this is a “straightforward case for severability.”

Donald B. Verrilli Jr., representing the House, agreed, telling Kavanaugh that when Congress zeroed out the tax, lawmakers did not think it was essential to the overall operation of the health-care law. In the last term, the court embraced the concept that when it finds an unconstitutional element in a law, it must look carefully at whether the rest of the measure can remain in place. Kavanaugh wrote one of the two opinions.

---------
Because the individual mandate has been removed from the ACA the justices are very skeptical about overturning the entire law.

Would not be sufficient to alter the outcome of the election.

what a piss poor standard by which to manage an election process.

"Bring on the fraudulent ballots!!! There won't be enough to alter the outcome of the election!!!"

until there is.

this is the mentality that has allowed us to slip into a state where the sanctity and integrity of our electoral system is completely shot.

so many concessions have been made to our electoral process to make it easier, with each of them the potential for fraud has risen exponentially.

early voting, late voting, ballot harvesting, vote by mail...

each of these creates more opportunities to steal an election, which has always been the intent. under the guise of voting ease and voter access, or course.

if as a nation we were sane and actually cared about the sanctity and integrity of our elections, we'd go back to in-person voting on election day only, and those with valid reasons would have ample time to secure an absentee ballot. period.

what's at risk this time if fully 70+ citizens growing so disgusted with the process they say fuck it and walk away.

which is exactly what the left would love to see because it gives them a permanent path to power.

here's a voter who took the time to say "Fuck it. I'm done."

I will not vote again; they’ve made it abundantly clear that my voice doesn’t matter. Whatever irrational, suicidal lunacy the nanny states thinks is best is what I’ll get. What it decided I need is a geriatric pedophile who shouldn’t be charged with anything more rigorous than choosing between tapioca and rice pudding at the old folks home, and a casting couch skank who rails against racism while being a descendant of slave owners.

I’m free to dismember a baby in my womb and kill it because “my body my choice”, but God help me if I won’t cover my face with a germ laden Linus-worthy security blanket or refuse let them inject genetically altering chemicals into my body or my child’s. I can be doxed, fired, shunned and destroyed for daring to venture that there are only 2 genders as proven by DNA, but a disease with a 99+% survival rate for most humans is a deadly pandemic worth murdering an economy over. Because science. Idiocracy is real, and we are living it. Dr. Lexus would be an improvement over Fauci.

I am done. Don’t ask me to pledge to the flag, or salute the troops, or shoot fireworks on the 4th. It’s a sick, twisted, heartbreaking joke, this bloated, unrecognizable corpse of a republic that once was ours.

I am not alone. Not sure how things continue to function when millions of citizens no longer feel any loyalty to or from the society they live in.

I was raised to be a lady, and ladies don’t curse, but fuck these motherfuckers to hell and back for what they’ve done to me, and mine, and my country. All we Joe Blow Americans ever wanted was a little patch of land to raise a family, a job to pay the bills, and at least some illusion of freedom, and even that was too much for these human parasites. They want it all, mind, body and soul. Damn them. Damn them all.

They were supportive of the reconstruction of Europ after World War Two. They rejected the isolationist philosophy. Donald Trump's America First philosophy has caused our allies to wonder what the f&** is wrong with the country.

But unless the Republicans break away from Trump, they are facing a huge problem. If Biden is able to get us back into the Paris agreement and brings our troops back to Germany we will be a transitional movement. The Republicans will continue to be strong in the red states, but the number of them is shrinking.

Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and perhaps Ohio are not red states.

You mean like claiming Joe Biden colluded with the Russians with literally no proof that he did? At least there is real proof in 2020 being provided of numerous actions that were illegal.

If it's not going to change the election... and you were in favor of investigating anything and everything in 2016, then why not just root this all out. Some people who break the law would go to jail, but Joe Biden would still be President elect, and everyone should be happy.

Why is it that you need to undermine any attempts to expose or otherwise investigate possible illegal election action?

If you are right about no fraud, then none will be found!

Scott, as long as Barr conducts a non partisan investigation, it's within the law. If fraud is found, the people should be indicted.

But consider this. The number of fraudulent ballots are not sufficient to alter the outcome of the election.

Much of this, is the President is losing, and his past behavior he is incapable of accepting defeat.

But, on January 20th 2021, Biden will be sworn in as President.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo battled reporters over President Trump's refusal to accept the results of the presidential election, predicting "there will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration" despite the fact that Joe Biden is the projected winner of the race.

The comment from Pompeo, a top ally of the president, came during a combative news conference at the State Department on Tuesday when the Cabinet member was asked whether the agency is prepared to engage with President-elect Joe Biden's transition team.

"There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration," Pompeo replied with a smile.

He’ll also build on the Affordable Care Act with a plan to insure more than an estimated 97% of Americans. Here’s how:

Giving Americans a new choice, a public health insurance option like Medicare. If your insurance company isn’t doing right by you, you should have another, better choice. Whether you’re covered through your employer, buying your insurance on your own, or going without coverage altogether, Biden will give you the choice to purchase a public health insurance option like Medicare. As in Medicare, the Biden public option will reduce costs for patients by negotiating lower prices from hospitals and other health care providers. It also will better coordinate among all of a patient’s doctors to improve the efficacy and quality of their care, and cover primary care without any co-payments. And it will bring relief to small businesses struggling to afford coverage for their employees.Increasing the value of tax credits to lower premiums and extend coverage to more working Americans. Today, families that make between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level may receive a tax credit to reduce how much they have to pay for health insurance on the individual marketplace. The dollar amount of the financial assistance is calculated to ensure each family does not have to pay more than a certain percentage of their income on a silver (medium generosity) plan. But, these shares of income are too high and silver plans’ deductibles are too high. Additionally, many families making more than 400% of the federal poverty level (about $50,000 for a single person and $100,000 for a family of four), and thus not qualifying for financial assistance, still struggle to afford health insurance. As President, Biden will help middle class families by eliminating the 400% income cap on tax credit eligibility and lowering the limit on the cost of coverage from 9.86% of income to 8.5%. This means that no family buying insurance on the individual marketplace, regardless of income, will have to spend more than 8.5% of their income on health insurance. Additionally, Biden will increase the size of tax credits by calculating them based on the cost of a more generous gold plan, rather than a silver plan. This will give more families the ability to afford more generous coverage, with lower deductibles and out-of-pocket costs.

Trump’s rhetoric has inflamed some of his supporters around the country, who have gathered in small “Stop the Steal” protests and declared that they do not have faith in the results.
As a result, two starkly different tones prevailed throughout the day. Inside the White House, aides described a deflated president aware of the difficulty of reversing the outcome and even declaring plans to run again in 2024. But publicly, Trump fired off tweet after combative tweet asserting without evidence that results in Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Nevada had been illegally rigged against him. And his campaign announced at least one new federal lawsuit, in Pennsylvania, seeking to block state officials from certifying the results.
“Pennsylvania prevented us from watching much of the Ballot count,” Trump tweeted despite extensive reporting, and some live feeds, showing poll watchers had access. “Unthinkable and illegal in this country.”
Since Election Day, the Trump campaign and GOP allies have made claims of election irregularities in six states where Biden holds the lead in the vote count. But they have yet to prove any widespread fraud and have largely suffered defeat in courts.

Former CIA Director John Brennan warned yesterday on CNN that Trump is like a "cornered cat" and may lash out before he leaves office.

"The fact...that he has the powers of the presidency in his hands is quite worrisome," Brennan told CNN's Chris Cuomo.

"If Vice President Pence and the cabinet had an ounce of fortitude and spine and patriotism, I think they would seriously consider invoking the 25th Amendment and pushing Donald Trump out because he is just very unpredictable now," he continued. "I'm very concerned what he might do in his remaining 70 days in office. Is he going to take some type of military action? Is he going to release some type of information that could in fact threaten our national security interests?"
___________

After Trump's apparent loss in the election, his supporters, including Donald Trump Jr., suggested the president should "declassify everything" before he leaves office.

"If Vice President Pence and the Cabinet had an ounce of fortitude and spine and patriotism, I think they would seriously consider invoking the 25th Amendment and pushing Donald Trump out, because he is just very unpredictable now."

BRENNAN: They're missing what is a very, very worrisome development. It's clear that Mark Esper was removed as Secretary of Defense because he rebuffed Donald Trump's efforts to politicize the U.S. Military. And I think it's quite apparent from reporting that Mark Esper has stood up to Donald Trump repeatedly. Who knows what else he has refused to do?

And the Secretary of Defense position is, I think, the most consequential position in the U.S. government aside from the President of the United States because it is the Secretary of Defense who carries out the orders given by a president for military operations.

And if Mark Esper has been pushed aside because he is not listening to Donald Trump, to carry out these orders, who knows what his successor, this Acting Secretary, Chris Miller is going to do if Donald Trump does give some type of order that really is counter to, I think, what our national security interests need to be.

CUOMO: One more rebuttal to a shoulder-shrug. "70 days, you know, he'll be gone in 70 days anyway once the Electoral College meets and we have the Inauguration."

BRENNAN: 70 days, you can do a lot of damage in 70 days. He still is the President of the United States.

And is he going to carry out these vendettas against other individuals, as you pointed out, Chris Wray or Gina Haspel or others? It is clear that Donald Trump is trying to exercise the power because he can. And he is going to settle scores.

But I'm very concerned what he might do in his remaining 70 days in office. Is he going to take some type of military action? Is he going to release some type of information that could in fact threaten our national security interests?

So, I think people need to be looking very carefully at what he's doing. And unfortunately, Republicans in Congress continue to give Donald Trump a pass.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

CUOMO: All right, so this is the key question. What can be done? Short of him messing with the Electoral College, and trying to have Republican or friendlies pick their own electors, and go grand scale with faithless electors, what can be done to stop anything he wants to do in the next 70 days?

BRENNAN: Well, if Vice President Pence and the Cabinet had an ounce of fortitude and spine and patriotism, I think they would seriously consider invoking the 25th Amendment and pushing Donald Trump out, because he is just very unpredictable now. He's like a cornered cat - tiger. And he is going to lash out.

And the fact that again that he has the powers of the Presidency in his hands is quite worrisome. Now, we know that Attorney General Barr has done Donald Trump's bidding in the past. Will he continue to do that vis-a-vis this election? I don't know. But I do think it's something that the Members of Congress, the leadership of the Republican Party really needs to send clear signals to Donald Trump that if he goes - continues to go along this path they are going to put up road blocks.

CUOMO: What do you make of the Attorney General saying that his investigators before the Electoral College will look at substantial allegations of voting irregularities? As you and I both know, irregularities is not a legal standard or any kind of criminal rubric. But what do you make of that?

BRENNAN: Well, I think it's an unprecedented move.

And again, since William Barr has shown that he is willing to be Donald Trump's personal defense lawyer, as opposed to the Attorney General of the United States, I am concerned that he's going to be looking at this in a very one-sided manner.

And so, I think this is something that hopefully the state attorney generals and others are going to stand fast and also the Department of Justice professional - professionals are going to carry out their duties irrespective of whatever type of political winds they feel are blowing their way.

_____
Former CIA Director John Brennan told MSNBC on Tuesday that he has full confidence in current CIA Director Gina Haspel and FBI Director Chris Wray to keep the agency and bureau out of partisan politics, but warns they may be on Trump's "target list."

"I encourage them to continue to hold fast and hold strong and not give in to any directives that the president might, Donald Trump might, issue that would impact our national security," he said.

During the past four years, President Trump has asserted such an intense influence on the Republican Party that it can be hard to imagine the GOP without him as its standard bearer. But Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential race means Republicans now have to consider life after Trump in the Oval Office.

Trump’s relationship with the GOP hasn’t always been congenial. He once was a registered Democrat and frequent donor to Democratic candidates. He seriously flirted with a Reform Party presidential bid in 2000. In his 2016 bid, Trump humiliated his establishment rivals and frequently ripped GOP figureheads like then-House Speaker Paul Ryan and former President George W. Bush.

Trump reversed Republican conventional wisdom, ignoring the urging of party leaders to embrace more moderate views on immigration and other issues to expand the GOP coalition. Many high-profile GOP figures who had once criticized his tactics eventually adopted them and became some of his most fervent advocates.

In the past four years, the Republican Party has become the party of “Trumpism,” a loosely defined term used to describe Trump’s signature political style: a flair for spectacle, anti-elite rhetoric, racial grievance, an adversarial view of rivals and a tenuous relationship with — and sometimes outright disdain for — the truth. In just over two months, Trump’s presidential tenure will end.
Will Trumpism continue without a President Trump?

A majority of the American people have fired him.

For some reason I don't understand, why CH CH stands up for him.

Discussions in regards to the agenda of President elect Biden would be more challenging

A Pennsylvania postal worker whose claims have been cited by top Republicans as potential evidence of widespread voting irregularities admitted to U.S. Postal Service investigators that he fabricated the allegations, according to three officials briefed on the investigation and a statement from a House congressional committee.

Richard Hopkins’s claim that a postmaster in Erie, Pa., instructed postal workers to backdate ballots mailed after Election Day was cited by Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) in a letter to the Justice Department calling for a federal investigation. Attorney General William P. Barr subsequently authorized federal prosecutors to open probes into credible allegations of voting irregularities and fraud, a reversal of long-standing Justice Department policy.

The Con Father

Staring; Donald Trump himself

Co star: rrb in drag Melina Trump

The Trump campaign has been unrelenting in recent days with its all-caps, bold font, exclamation-point-ridden fundraising appeals: “THE DEMOCRATS WANT TO STEAL THIS ELECTION!” “We can’t allow the Left-wing MOB to undermine our election.”

ADVERTISING

They urge supporters to make donations to President Donald Trump’s election integrity defense, to ensure he has the “resources” he needs to keep the election from being “stolen.”

In reality, there is no election defense fund; the donations are siphoned into a mix of various committees. Up until Tuesday, some of the money was being used to pay down the Trump campaign’s debt. As of Tuesday morning though, the formula was changed to funnel most of the money into Trump’s new leadership PAC called Save America.

“Donors who are giving in response to this urgent fundraising message to help defend the integrity of our election are actually helping fund Trump’s post-presidential political vehicle,” Brendan Fischer, director of federal reform at the Campaign Legal Center, told TPM.

In the fine print of the fundraising blasts, it lays out that 60 percent of the contributions will first go to the new PAC, up to the maximum contribution of $5,000. The remaining 40 percent goes to the RNC up to the maximum $35,500. If that first 60 percent of the donation exceeds $5,000 the remnants go to the campaign’s “recount account”; if the 40 percent exceeds the $35,500 RNC maximum, only then does it go to the RNC’s legal defense fund.

“Not a penny is dedicated to a legal expense account unless donors have maxed out their contributions to the first two committees, $5,000 to the leadership PAC and $35,500 to the RNC,” said Paul Ryan, vice president of policy and litigation at Common Cause.

Far from arming Trump in his fight against the election results, in most cases, most of the money will end up in the new leadership PAC. (Trump’s baseless claims of election theft are widely acknowledged to be the complaints of a sore loser which, while harmful to democracy, are completely lacking in validity.)

The Trump campaign did not immediately return a request for comment. TPM.

For all my Facebook friends. Please read this.
" I'm a Democrat. I’m not a snowflake. I can tell you that being a Democrat doesn't mean what a lot of you apparently think it does.

Let's break it down, shall we? Because quite frankly, I'm getting a little tired of being told what I believe and what I stand for. Spoiler alert: Not every Democrat is the same, though the majority of Democrats I know think along roughly these same lines:

1. I believe a country should take care of its weakest members. A country cannot call itself civilized when its children, disabled, sick, and elderly are neglected. Period.

2. I believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Somehow that's interpreted as "I believe Obamacare is the end-all, be-all." This is not the case. I'm fully aware that the Affordable Care Act has problems, that a national healthcare system would require everyone to chip in, and that it's impossible to create one that is devoid of flaws, but I have yet to hear an argument against it that makes "let people die because they can't afford healthcare" a better alternative. I believe healthcare should be far cheaper than it is, and that everyone should have access to it. And no, I'm not opposed to paying higher taxes in the name of making that happen. (Although with Universal Healthcare, taxes would increase, but health insurance premiums would all but disappear.)

3. I believe education should be affordable and accessible to everyone. It doesn't necessarily have to be free (though it works in other countries so I'm mystified as to why it can't work in the US), but at the end of the day, there is no excuse for students graduating college saddled with five- or six-figure debt.

4. I don't believe your money should be taken from you and given to people who don't want to work. I have literally never encountered anyone who believes this. Ever. I just have a massive moral problem with a society where a handful of people can possess the majority of the wealth while there are people literally starving to death, freezing to death, or dying because they can't afford to go to the doctor. Fair wages, lower housing costs, universal healthcare, affordable education, and the wealthy actually paying their share would go a long way toward alleviating this. Somehow believing that makes me a communist.

5. I don't throw around "I'm willing to pay higher taxes" lightly. If I'm suggesting something that involves paying more, well, it's because I'm fine with paying my share as long as it's actually going to something besides lining corporate pockets or bombing other countries while Americans die without healthcare.

6. I believe companies should be required to pay their employees a decent, livable wage. Somehow this is always interpreted as me wanting burger flippers to be able to afford a penthouse apartment and a Mercedes. What it actually means is that no one should have to work three full-time jobs just to keep their head above water. Restaurant servers should not have to rely on tips, multi billion-dollar companies should not have employees on food stamps, workers shouldn't have to work themselves into the ground just to barely make ends meet, and minimum wage should be enough for someone to work 40 hours and live.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

7. I am not anti-Christian. I have no desire to stop Christians from being Christians, to close churches, to ban the Bible, to forbid prayer in school, etc. (BTW, prayer in school is NOT illegal; *compulsory* prayer in school is - and should be - illegal). All I ask is that Christians recognize everyone's right to live according to their beliefs. When I get pissed off that a politician is trying to legislate Scripture into law, I'm not "offended by Christianity" -- I'm offended that "Christian" legislators are trying to force people to live by their religion's rules. You know how you get really upset at the thought of Muslims imposing Sharia law on you? That's how I feel about Christians trying to impose biblical law on others. Be a Christian. Do your thing. Just don't force it on anyone else.

8. I don't believe LGBT people should have more rights than everyone else. I just believe they should have the *same* rights as everyone else.

9. I don't believe illegal immigrants should come to America and have the world at their feet, especially since THIS ISN'T WHAT THEY DO (spoiler: undocumented immigrants are ineligible for those programs they're supposed to be abusing, and if they're "stealing" your job it's because your employer is hiring illegally). I'm not opposed to deporting people who are here illegally, but I believe there are far more humane ways to handle undocumented immigration than our current practices (i.e., detaining children, splitting up families, ending DACA {Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals}, etc).

10. I don't believe the government should regulate everything. But since greed is such a driving force in our country, we NEED regulations to prevent cut corners, environmental destruction, tainted food/water, unsafe materials in consumable goods or medical equipment, etc. It's not that I want the government's hands in everything -- I just don't trust greedy people or corporations trying to make money to ensure that their products/practices/etc. are actually SAFE. Is the government devoid of corruption? Of course not. But with those regulations in place, consumers have recourse if they're harmed and companies are liable for medical bills, environmental cleanup, etc. Just kind of seems like common sense when the alternative to government regulation is letting companies bring their bottom line into the safety equation.

11. I believe our current administration is Fascist. Not because I dislike them or because I can’t get over an election, but because I've spent too many years reading and learning about the Third Reich to miss the similarities. Not because any administration I dislike must be Nazis, but because things are actually mirroring Authoritarian and Fascist regimes of the past.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

12. I believe the systemic racism and misogyny in our society is much worse than many people think, and desperately needs to be addressed. Which means those with privilege -- white, straight, male, economic, etc. -- need to start listening, even if you don't like what you're hearing, so we can start dismantling everything that's causing people to be marginalized.

13. I am not interested in coming after American's blessed guns, nor is anyone serving in government. What I am interested in is sensible policies, including background checks, that just MIGHT save one person’s life, perhaps a toddler’s life, by the hand of someone who should not have a gun.

14. I believe in so-called political correctness. I prefer to think it’s social politeness. If I call you Chuck and you say you prefer to be called Charles, I’ll call you Charles. It’s the polite thing to do. Not because everyone is a delicate snowflake, but because as Maya Angelou put it, when we know better, we do better. When someone tells you that a term or phrase is more accurate/less hurtful than the one you're using, you now know better. So why not do better? How does it hurt you to NOT hurt another person?

15. I believe in funding sustainable energy, including offering education to people currently working in coal or oil so they can change jobs. There are too many sustainable options available for us to continue with coal and oil. Sorry, billionaires. Maybe try investing in something else.

16. I believe that women should not be treated as a separate class of human. They should be paid the same as men who do the same work, should have the same rights as men and should be free from abuse. Why on earth shouldn’t they be?

I think that about covers it. Bottom line is that I'm a Liberal because I think we should take care of each other. That doesn't mean you should work 80 hours a week so your lazy neighbor can get all your money. It just means I don't believe there is any scenario in which preventable suffering is an acceptable outcome as long as money is saved."

So, I'm a Democrat, and Damn proud too!!!

-copy and paste if you agree; don’t if you don’t.

Scientific Brief: Community Use of Cloth Masks to Control the Spread of SARS-CoV-2

Updated Nov. 10, 2020

Languages

Background

SARS-CoV-2 infection is transmitted predominately by respiratory droplets generated when people cough, sneeze, sing, talk, or breathe. CDC recommends community use of masks, specifically non-valved multi-layer cloth masks, to prevent transmission of SARS-CoV-2. Masks are primarily intended to reduce the emission of virus-laden droplets (“source control”), which is especially relevant for asymptomatic or presymptomatic infected wearers who feel well and may be unaware of their infectiousness to others, and who are estimated to account for more than 50% of transmissions.1,2  Masks also help reduce inhalation of these droplets by the wearer (“filtration for personal protection”). The community benefit of masking for SARS-CoV-2 control is due to the combination of these effects; individual prevention benefit increases with increasing numbers of people using masks consistently and correctly.

Richard Hopkins said that he was instructed by a postmaster in Erie, Pa., to backdate ballots mailed after Election Day. His claim was cited by GOP officials as the most credible evidence of voter fraud, including Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham who wrote a letter to the Justice Department calling for a federal investigation, reports the Washington Post.

Covid-19 hospitalizations in the United States hit an all-time high of 61,964 on Tuesday, and new daily cases passed 139,000 for the first time, as the raging pandemic continued to shatter record after record and strain medical facilities.

The number of people hospitalized with the coronavirus, tallied by the Covid Tracking Project, has more than doubled since September, and now exceeds the peak reached early in the pandemic, when 59,940 hospitalized patients were reported on April 15. A second peak in the summer fell just short of matching that record.

Those spikes in April and July lasted only a few days and quickly subsided, but as winter approaches experts do not expect that this time.

The United States, which surpassed 10 million known cases on Sunday, is averaging more than 111,000 new cases a day, a record, according to a New York Times database.

More than 139,800 new cases were announced in the United States on Tuesday, the highest total of the pandemic.

one of my all time faves from that screed is always "health care is a right." uh, no. health care professionals are not subservient to you and you do not get to demand their services and then decide they must be compensated what you declare.

so tell your 'friend' that i said they can go fuck themselves - today, tomorrow, and everyday until they stop acting like a child and wake up to the fact that in a free country your 'demands' are bullshit.

“As the weaknesses of President Trump’s legal cases to overturn Joe Biden’s win become clearer,
Republicans are talking more about the Electoral College —
hinting at an extreme last-chance way for Trump to cling to power,” Axios reports.

“In this long-shot scenario, Trump and his team could try to block secretaries of state in contested states from certifying results. That could allow legislatures in those states to try to appoint new electors who favor Trump over Biden.”

Said one lawyer: “It’s basically hijacking the democracy. They’ve got nothing else; you’d be trying to deny Joe Biden 270.”

Don't even pretend to want to be faithful to the will of the 75 million Americans who voted for Biden and gave him an electoral victory in seven states, NV, AZ, GA, PA, MI, MN, WI, or possibly eight (NC).

Last night on Larry Elder (a Trump sycophant) I heard something that sounded almost credible.

Elder claimed that a certain Lt. General Thomas McInerney had evidence that the Biden team employed a sophisticated computer program to alter vote totals, altering only 3% of the vote to avoid suspicion.

It sounded convincing enough to disturb me, so I looked up Lt. General McInerney at Wikipedia.
_____
Thomas McInerney (born March 15, 1937)is a retired United States Air Force Lieutenant General, served in top military positions under the Secretary of Defense and the Vice President of the United States.
______

The man, now 83, had a distinguished military career, but when it came to Obama he was a fanatical political opponent, a birther who supported a fellow birther who got court martialed for refusing to go to Afghanistan on the excuse that Obama was not an American citizen, and thus not our President.

Mcinerney also appeared on a radio program in South Carolina where he accused John McCain ("Songbird John") of doing propaganda broadcasts for the Vietnamese! (The host of that radio show later apologized to the McCain family.)

As for the computer claim, it is a bogus as these other claims.

See for yourselves
from Wikipedia:

Post military career
Between January 1, 2002, and April 20, 2008, McInerney appeared 144 times on Fox TV.

In 2002, he said a military campaign against Iraq, would be "shorter" than the 42 days it took to complete the Persian Gulf War in 1991, and further, "It is going to be absolutely awesome, and that's why this war, if we do it properly, will go very quick, and we'll have less civilian casualties than we did last time."

In 2004, he claimed that with the aid of a Russian Special Forces team with GRU, Saddam had transported weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) to Syria and the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon for safekeeping. Although McInernery said they had been moved to three places in Syria and one in Lebanon, the final report of the Iraq Survey Group, by Charles A. Duelfer, special adviser on Iraqi weapons to the C.I.A., concluded that any stockpiles had been destroyed long before the war and that transfers to Syria were "unlikely."

In 2006, McInerney advocated for regime change via military action against Iran and North Korea.

General McInerney has been a member of the Boards of Directors of military contractors, including Alloy Surfaces Company, Kilgore Flares Co, Nortel Government Solutions Inc. Pan American International Academy (Flight Simulators), Agusta Westland NA, and Crescent Partnerships.

In 2010, McInerney provided his support against the court martial of fellow birther Terrence Lakin, who refused to deploy to Afghanistan due to his suspicion of President Barack Obama's birthplace.

On September 6, 2016, McInerney was 1 of 88 retired generals and admirals who endorsed the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump.

On September 15, 2020, McInerney was 1 of 235 retired generals and admirals who endorsed President Trump's re-election for president.

Controversies

Previously, McInerney had called President Obama a treasonous leader who is “aiding and abetting the enemy." McInerney also has said there were "widespread and legitimate concerns that the President [Obama] is constitutionally ineligible to hold office."

In 2015, as a Fox News contributor, and a member of the Iran Policy Committee. McInerney was noted for suggesting on Fox News that terrorists could have flown the disappeared Malaysia Airlines 370 to Pakistan.

In a May 2018 interview with Charles Payne on Fox News, McInerney asserted that torture had "worked on" John McCain and "That's why they call him 'Songbird John," referencing the claim against McCain during the Republican primary in South Carolina in 2000 that McCain recorded anti-american propaganda broadcasts vor the Vietcong during his time as a POW. Payne later apologized to McCain and his family for the remark. Afterward, Fox News announced that McInerney would never appear on Fox News or Fox Business again.

McInerney has also asserted that the 2020 election was stolen by the Democrats using computer programs (called Hammer and Scorecard) developed by and for NSA and CIA. This program, McInerney claims, was used to intercept the vote and flip votes to Biden from Trump.

What a sham! Shame on Larry Elder.

Washington Post: “As a worrisome summer gives way to a harrowing fall, the nation’s surge of coronavirus cases shows no signs of easing. With little help and scant guidance from a Washington stuck in political limbo, some states and localities rushed to put in place new restrictions aimed at slowing the virus’s spread. Still, almost every metric appeared headed in an ominous direction.

“On Tuesday, the country hit another one-day record, logging more than 135,000 new coronavirus cases, along with 1,403 additional deaths. At least five states, including Missouri and Wisconsin, set single-day highs for fatalities. At least five more, including Illinois and Pennsylvania, set single-day highs for new cases. Almost nowhere in the country are caseloads actually subsiding.”

We are turning the corner according to the lame duck President

NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. hit a record number of coronavirus hospitalizations Tuesday and surpassed 1 million new confirmed cases in just the first 10 days of November amid a nationwide surge of infections that shows no signs of slowing.

The new wave appears bigger and more widespread than the surges that happened in the spring and summer — and threatens to be worse. But experts say there are also reasons to think the nation is better able to deal with the virus this time around.

“We’re definitely in a better place” when it comes to improved medical tools and knowledge, said William Hanage, a Harvard University infectious-disease researcher.

Newly confirmed infections in the U.S. were running at all-time highs of well over 100,000 per day, pushing the total to more than 10 million and eclipsing 1 million since Halloween. There are now 61,964 people hospitalized, according to the COVID Tracking Project.

Several states posted records Tuesday, including over 12,600 new cases in Illinois, 10,800 in Texas and 7,000 in Wisconsin.

Deaths — a lagging indicator, since it takes time for people to get sick and die — are climbing again, reaching an average of more than 930 a day.

Hospitals are getting slammed. And unlike the earlier outbreaks, this one is not confined to a region or two.

“The virus is spreading in a largely uncontrolled fashion across the vast majority of the country,” said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious-disease expert at Vanderbilt University.

Governors made increasingly desperate pleas for people to take the fight against the virus more seriously.

In an unusual prime-time speech hours after Wisconsin set new records for infections and deaths, Democratic Gov. Tony Evers announced that he was advising people to stay in their houses and businesses to allow people to work remotely, require masks and limit the number of people in stores and offices.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, ordered bars and restaurants to close at 10 p.m., and Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, a Republican, said she will require masks at indoor gatherings of 25 or more people, inching toward more stringent measures after months of holding out.

While deaths are still well below the U.S. peak of about 2,200 per day back in April, some researchers estimate the nation's overall toll will hit about 400,000 by Feb. 1, up from about 240,000 now.

69 days until the horror story ends.
