I will no longer be keeping track of Covid statistics on the sidebar for several reasons. I am burned out on running statistics on every little thing, because nobody in the media has talked much about Covid since the election, and because I have never "really" cared much about it other than for the politics of it. Now that the election is over, there really isn't much to be gained by it either way.

As it stands the CDC recommendation that the Covid virus would not subject itself to people who were voting was laughable in the face of so many recommendations that we limit holiday family gathering or even hold them outside. The inconsistency and flailing around for policy coming from Fauci and the task force has been stunning. I would respect them all so much more if they just admitted that they haven't the first clue as to how to stop this.
For those who care, 55% of all deaths have still occurred in blue states and the number of deaths per million continues to favor blue states over red states by approximately 60/per million. There are still thousands of deaths that would need to occur in "red states" without similar amounts of deaths in "blue states" before that number would flip.
The latest hotspots include Illinois (10,000 new cases yesterday), Minnesota, Wisconsin, and many of the great lake states. The virus just seems to move from place to place to place, and we are even seeing a rise in new cases in New York and New Jersey. Got help them if that virus gets a second wind in New York City. You know, they did so well managing that first wave.
To be clear, even if there came a time when "blue states" were doing better in terms of deaths per million, it would still come at an economic cost that has been significant as unemployment is more than two points higher in blue states than red states. While we are uncertain what does or doesn't work in terms of how to control Covid, the laws of economics are clear. Blue states destroyed their own economies either for sake of Covid or for sake of politics.

Ch, more and more red state governors are simply changing their tunes and reversing their previous stances as they belatedly go against the Trump party line by mandating or requesting that, for example, masks be worn.
You consistently advocated a WRONG way of dealing with this pandemic, and you did so because you were slavishly following Trump's dishonest lead on it, for reasons of politics, not for reasons of our citizen's health and welfare.

There is talk about the opposite. That many liberal Governors and such will be loosening restrictions. I doubt that there will be a Republican Governor anywhere who will suddenly start locking everything back down in defiance of Trump.
