Hypocrites!

Unless you are one of the few who did not adhere to the Russian collusion conspiracy in 2016, you have no business criticizing Trump or anyone else for questioning the process in 2020.

It's one of those times when you have to ask the serious question? Who do these people actually think they are?  To the left, the liberals, apparently the media are like Greek gods! Infallible, worthy of falling at their feet in worship, and responsible for all truth and justice in the world. To the right, the conservatives, the media are self absorbed, underinformed partisan low lives, who have more interest in promoting an agenda than covering the news.

But the hard cold reality is that the media fawned the Russian Trump collusion theory for all it was worth for years after Trump was elected. Daily questioning the legitimacy of the election and the President. This, was never (in their minds) an issue with Democracy or Americanism, other than where they believed it was upon themselves to open the eyes to the fake corruption and conspiracy that was pushed franticly, but never proven.

If Twitter held themselves to the same standards for liberals as they do for conservatives, there would have been no liberal side of twitter between late 2016 and sometime during 2019... there would have been far too many warning messages and account bans for anyone to keep up with. But alas, when liberals make claims without any proof what-so-ever it is simply considered free speech, rather than harmful propaganda that needs to be censured.

To be clear, even if there ends up being no truth to any of the allegations raised by the various lawsuits and complaints; how is that different from the Russia Collusion fiasco pushed in 2016? Ultimately nobody uncovered any proof of anything other than the "proof" that Robert Mueller was a tired old figurehead to allowed Partisan Democrats to try (and fail) to manufacture something concrete to justify all of their allegations.

The reality is that we simply do not know if all of the claims, some of the claims, or none of the claims about 2020 election corruption are true. We will never know, unless there is actual investigations into those allegations. Covering them up and not allowing anyone to investigate doesn't prove anything other than the double standard that liberals want to live by.

2016 set the precedent. No matter how stupid your wild accusations are (like our President being a Russian agent), those allegations should be provided multiple investigations that take years,  including a partisan special counsel working outside the actual chain of command. Not sure why 2020 should be any different.

And anyone screaming and hollering over how these 2020 allegations are some sort a stain on democracy or damaging to America should be locked away in a funny farm and not let back out until Trump is proven to be a Russian agent.

So Roger...

Spending three years demanding our President was a Russian agent, an illegitimate President, and the 2016 election was rigged and unfair is perfectly acceptable.

But following up on the many legitimate reports of possible voter fraud, vote tampering, and other election irregularities is unacceptable in 2020?

Or as you put it... the Russian collusion hoax for three years without proof of anything was perfectly acceptable, because it harmed the "bad orange man".

But investigating whether or not election law were broken - is fucking insane?

You won't see this from the big media, but the Trump challenges are turning up results.

In WI, out of 60 counties, 54 had roughly the same or less turnout as 2016 and 2012. But 6 of them any a highly unusual spike in turnout. Officials are looking for illegal ballot stuffing there.

In GA, we've learned that 27,000 people over age 90 voted, 1000 over age 100 voted. The state hand recount will look at all of these because there aren't that many people there in these age groups.

The media, including the newly Trump hating fox news, won't report this and insist on calling Biden president elect, even though he is not.

And then there's PA, with 600k ballots that arrived after Nov 3rd and will be found ineligible because the state Supreme court illegally over rode the state legislature.

Bid3n would hold off measuring the drapes in the white house.

David Iglesias was the U.S. attorney for the District of New Mexico from 2001 to 2007.
Attorney General William P. Barr has opened the door for federal prosecutors to launch criminal probes of election fraud even before states have finished the counting process. To understand why this departure from long-standing Justice Department policy is such a terrible idea, consider this: What would citizen Barr have said in 2016 had the Obama Justice Department issued such an abrupt policy change after Donald Trump’s narrow victories in key states?
Voter fraud, to the extent it occurs, is a serious violation, one that should be prosecuted. But the operative phrase in that sentence is “to the extent it occurs.” As the U.S. attorney for New Mexico in 2004, I was asked to teach federal prosecutors about the topic. That was a difficult challenge, because of the thankfully scant history of such cases. My office had not prosecuted any voter fraud cases in over 10 years; that prosecution involved only two individuals.
Why was the Justice Department training its prosecutors in 2004 on voter fraud? In my home district of New Mexico, some believed that the Al Gore campaign’s razor-thin, 366-vote win in New Mexico in 2000 was the product of fraud. I myself assumed that this was a systemic problem, especially after the local newspaper ran lurid headlines with many instances of apparent fraud. I pledged to find and prosecute such cases.
The Bush administration wanted to ensure that the reelection campaign was not marred by fraud. I was one of two U.S. attorneys in the country to set up voter fraud task forces. I held a news conference with the FBI, the New Mexico secretary of state, the New Mexico State Police and the Department of Veterans Affairs office. We established a toll-free number for citizens to call in tips.
At the end of the day, and after working closely with the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section’s Election Crimes branch, I concluded I did not have a single case I could prove beyond a reasonable doubt. Like any ethical prosecutor, I therefore did not file any voter fraud prosecutions. It turns out that not filing unprovable voter fraud cases was a main reason for my firing in 2007.
Here we are, once again, despite dozens of studies by various think tanks showing a fair election system.
And now the Justice Department is threatening to step in. Among the fundamental rules that govern its operations is that prosecutions must be based on law and facts, and that partisan politics will not play a role. For 40 years, the department has had a policy under which federal prosecutors would wait until the election had been concluded and certified to file voter fraud cases.
The reason for that caution is even assuming voter fraud exists, its minuscule numbers would not affect the outcome of the election. Barr recognizes this when he states that "specious, speculative, fanciful or far-fetched claims” should not be the basis for beginning a federal investigation.
Barr’s memo authorized federal prosecutors across the country to abandon this restrained approach — a move that prompted the long-time election crimes chief, Richard Pilger, to resign from his position. One can surmise only that Pilger did not want to be party to such an aberration in practice and policy.

The complaint filed in Pennsylvania by the Trump campaign is a superb piece of legal craftsmanship.

It was filed in federal court, not state. The gist is that some of the state's actions, and particularly the exclusion of Republican poll-watchers during the counting of hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots, violated federal constitutional requirements.

The point is obvious enough once one thinks of it, but it's brilliant all the same. It shifts the focus from state law, where a politicized Pennsylvania court has the last word, to federal law, where the U.S. Supreme Court rules.

As for the obviousness of the point, consider as a thought experiment a state law requiring that all votes be counted in secret by an unelected board named by the party in power. Could it survive a constitutional challenge?

As my old Harvard constitutional law professors would have said, "to ask the question is to answer it." It is hard to count all the constitutional guarantees violated here: Equal Protection, Due Process, Privileges and Immunities. Indeed, the complaint stacks up the Supreme Court precedents supporting its arguments, including the long line of ringing statements in the chain of one-person-one-vote decisions.

Major social media platforms continue to crack down on such misinformation, at least officially. Facebook has pinned the election results to the top of users’ newsfeeds, and is appending labels to Trump’s posts explaining the truth behind the election.

Twitter is no longer fully restricting Trump’s tweets, but continues to add labels warning users that: “This claim about election fraud is disputed”.

YouTube fails to remove video falsely declaring Trump victory

Even YouTube is taking action, demonetising videos from outlets such as the Trump-affiliated One America News Network that claim that “Trump won,” although the platform said it is not against its policies to seek to damage the electoral process unless it is done before the election occurs.

tough to repair a pipe that never burst to begin with.

In response the only public records generated as a result of the alleged “burst pipe” that halted the counting of ballots in Atlanta (Fulton Co.) were a few text messages. These messages were with the Sr. Vice President of the Atlanta Hawks, Geoffrey Stiles, who called it a “slow leak” that was “contained quickly,” and he said the entire thing was “highly exaggerated.”

Well, Ch, I am still under the impression that there is ample evidence that Trump supporters in the inner circle of his campaign, and Trump himself, welcomed the fact that they were getting help from the Russians in their attempt to defeat Hillary Clinton for the office of president.

Sounds sort of like collusion to me.

The fact that Trump lied about so many things made it imperative that this be looked into. The fact that he favored what Putin told him above the statements of his own intelligence service adds to the sense of collusion.

There are a lot of Republicans (I heard one on the BBC two nights ago) who are saying that with regard to the possibility that there may be a need for an examination of the present electoral vote count, Trump should NEVER have used some of the rhetoric that he used. He didn't just say there was a possibility that mistakes were made, he said there was a concerted attempt to RIG the election and to STEAL it from him, a charge he kept putting forward without evidence.

That evidence still has not emerged and many people are convinced it will not, especially those Republicans and Democrat observers on the local level who were totally committed to an accurate, honest vote count.

Local election leaders, both Republican and Democrat, are getting increasingly PO'ed BECAUSE, knowing how important this was, and how close the election might be, they worked so hard to assure that everything would be done according to the best accepted and mutually agreed upon norms -- yet they keep getting these baseless accusations of somebody trying to rig and steal the election.

On the radio last night I heard Larry Elder frantically trying to come up with something -- ANYthing -- that could make it seem that Trump had won the election. He is even trying to question the vote numbers in Michigan.

Even conservative news sources are admitting that there has not been one single court victory for that line of thinking. Yet Trump continues his insane, spiteful burnt earth strategy, shouting in the ears of all the world about a rigged and stolen American election, and Republican leaders (some of them) and sycophants like you (all of them) meekly go along with it.

Why Is Trump Filing So Many Flimsy Lawsuits? Here's Why:

“The Trump campaign is moving from state to state to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s win, in a series of increasingly wild legal maneuvers without credible claims that face astronomical odds and carry little precedent,” CNN reports.

“Lawsuits in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Arizona now are attempting to advance a smattering of accusations and legal theories, some based upon vague and unsupported allegations of fraud or complaints of minor ballot processing access, as a way to prevent state officials from certifying the popular vote results, which currently all favor Biden.

“President Trump’s campaign strategy increasingly appears to be to cast enough doubt over vote counts so it can find judges to block states from certifying the choice its voters made.”

Big Majority of Republicans Say Election Was Not Fair
9:33 am
A new Politico/Morning Consult poll finds 70% of Republicans now say they don’t believe the 2020 election was free and fair, a stark rise from the 35 percent of GOP voters who held similar beliefs before the election.

Axios: "If millions of citizens finish the year believing — without proof or even evidence — that the rightful leader of the nation has been deposed in a coup, the U.S. could face long-term instability and a deepening crisis of legitimacy.”
_______

The fact that, in spite of Trump's baseless accusations, there are still 30% of Republicans willing to admit that the election WAS free and fair has some significance.

Not every Republican is willing to be a crass sycophant, like you denizens here.

Trump Eyes Digital Media Empire to Take on Fox News
7:55 am
President Trump has told friends he wants to start a digital media company to clobber Fox News and undermine the conservative-friendly network, sources tell Axios.

Said a source: “He plans to wreck Fox. No doubt about it.”

“Trump’s digital offering would likely charge a monthly fee to MAGA fans. Many are Fox News viewers, and he’d aim to replace the network — and the $5.99-a-month Fox Nation streaming service, which has an 85% conversation rate from free trials to paid subscribers — as their top destination.”

Trump Stacks Intel Agencies with Loyalists
7:15 am
“There is no evidence so far that these new appointees harbor a secret agenda on Iran or have taken up their posts with an action plan in hand. But their sudden appearance has been a purge of the Pentagon’s top civilian hierarchy without recent precedent,” Politico reports.

“Administration officials said the appointments were partly about Afghanistan, where the president has been frustrated by what he sees as a military moving too slowly to fulfill his promise that all American troops will be home by Christmas.”

Lawmakers Press Ahead with Trump Era Probes
7:13 am
“Donald Trump will be a private citizen in January. But Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill are poised to carry on the investigations and legal battles that helped define his presidency. In the House, Democrats are still in court fighting to obtain Trump’s financial records and testimony from his first White House counsel Don McGahn, a key figure in the obstruction of justice case against Trump,” Politico reports.

“In the Senate, where GOP control hinges on two Jan. 5 runoffs in Georgia, Republican lawmakers are plotting ways to expand and intensify their investigations targeting the former Obama administration and President-elect Joe Biden and his son Hunter, with Senate Republicans saying they will use the lame duck period to ramp up their probes.”

THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET INCREASINGLY FED UP WITH ALL THIS.

White House Rushes to Execute Lame Duck Moves
7:04 am
“On Monday, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows gathered senior aides on a call. One of his goals: to plot the conservative policy moves they could push through in their final 10 weeks on immigration, trade, health care, China and school choice,” Politico reports.

AND MEANWHILE, IN OUR HURTING NATION WITHOUT RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP IN THE WHITE HOUSE----
The Coronavirus Soars
7:03 am
Washington Post: “The number of new daily coronavirus cases in the United States jumped from 104,000 a week earlier to more than 145,000 on Wednesday, an all-time high. Nearly every metric is trending in the wrong direction, prompting states to add new restrictions and hospitals to prepare for a potentially dark future.”

Project Veritas Tuesday night released a video with USPS whistleblower Richard Hopkins asserting that he did not recant his allegations of election fraud, a lie that was published by the Washington Post.

Additionally, James O’Keefe posted recordings of federal agents attempting to coerce and intimidate Hopkins into recanting.

The tactics used to coerce and intimidate the USPS whistleblower is something you would see in a Communist country.

Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Election Day to be considered valid and counted, per US law.

In the newly released recording, Agent Russell Strasser says that “I am trying to twist you a little bit.”

“We have senators involved. We have the Department of Justice involved. We have-” Strasser says.

The “burner” Twitter account for Federal Agent of the IG Office Russell Strasser reveals he is a Trump-hating Joe Biden supporter.

No wonder why he wanted to intimidate USPS whistleblower Richard Hopkins who went on record about Postmaster Rob Weisenbach’s orders to backdate ballots to November 3rd in Erie, Pennsylvania, so that late ballots would be accepted.

The Democrats’ strategy from the beginning was to flood the ballot boxes with millions of illegal mail-in ballots in order to steal the election from Trump after Election Day.

In fact, the Democrats admitted they would do this and said Trump’s landslide victory on election night would be a “red mirage” because Democrats would continue to count (illegal) ballots for weeks until Joe Biden won.

Russell Strasser also believed in the “red mirage” and by intimidating Richard Hopkins he is trying to make sure that the Postmaster does not get exposed for backdating ballots.

Notice how Russell Strasser claimed “slow counted mail-ins would lean heavy blue.”

By slow counted, he is referring to the illegally backdated mail-in ballots being delivered to elections officials and going 100% for Joe Biden.

and you and Hillary were so overconfident, so convinced of a fucking lock, you never took any precautions to steal it because never in a million years could anyone have predicted a Hillary defeat.

intelligent people know the difference between then and now.

your fakebook rant makes you look like an idiot.

"Yes, it is possible for a story to be factually accurate and for it to be part of a misinformation campaign aimed at undermining confidence in an election."

—NYT columnist Kevin Roose after being fact-checked on his claims that factual reports about election fraud were "right-wing misinformation."

From the book by President Obama !

At the end of my presidency, Michelle and I boarded Air Force One for the last time and traveled west for a long-deferred break. The mood on the plane was bittersweet. Both of us were drained, physically and emotionally, not only by the labors of the previous eight years but by the unexpected results of an election in which someone diametrically opposed to everything we stood for had been chosen as my successor. Still, having run our leg of the race to completion, we took satisfaction in knowing that we’d done our very best—and that however much I’d fallen short as president, whatever projects I’d hoped but failed to accomplish, the country was in better shape than it had been when I’d started.

For a month, Michelle and I slept late, ate leisurely dinners, went for long walks, swam in the ocean, took stock, replenished our friendship, rediscovered our love, and planned for a less eventful but hopefully no less satisfying second act. For me, that included writing my presidential memoirs. And by the time I sat down with a pen and yellow pad (I still like writing things out in longhand, finding that a computer gives even my roughest drafts too smooth a gloss and lends half-baked thoughts the mask of tidiness), I had a clear outline of a book in my head.

Barack Obama's book, A Promised Land.
This post was excerpted from Obama’s forthcoming book.
First and foremost, I hoped to give an honest rendering of my time in office—not just a historical record of key events that happened on my watch and important figures with whom I interacted but also an account of some of the political, economic, and cultural crosscurrents that helped determine the challenges my administration faced and the choices my team and I made in response. Where possible, I wanted to offer readers a sense of what it’s like to be the president of the United States; I wanted to pull the curtain back a bit and remind people that, for all its power and pomp, the presidency is still just a job and our federal government is a human enterprise like any other, and the men and women who work in the White House experience the same daily mix of satisfaction, disappointment, office friction, screwups, and small triumphs as the rest of their fellow citizens. Finally, I wanted to tell a more personal story that might inspire young people considering a life of public service: how my career in politics really started with a search for a place to fit in, a way to explain the different strands of my mixed-up heritage, and how it was only by hitching my wagon to something larger than myself that I was ultimately able to locate a community and purpose for my life.

Beyond the struggle to put words on a page, what I didn’t fully anticipate was the way events would unfold during the more than three and a half years that have passed since that last flight on Air Force One. The country is in the grips of a global pandemic and an accompanying economic crisis, with more than 230,000 Americans dead, businesses shuttered, and millions of people out of work. Across the nation, people from all walks of life have poured into the streets to protest the deaths of unarmed Black men and women at the hands of the police. Perhaps most troubling of all, our democracy seems to be teetering on the brink of crisis—a crisis rooted in a fundamental contest between two opposing visions of what America is and what it should be; a crisis that has left the body politic divided, angry, and mistrustful, and has allowed for an ongoing breach of institutional norms, procedural safeguards, and the adherence to basic facts that both Republicans and Democrats once took for granted.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — During a Pennsylvania court hearing this week on one of the many election lawsuits brought by President Donald Trump, a judge asked a campaign lawyer whether he had found any signs of fraud from among the 592 ballots challenged.

The answer was no.

“Accusing people of fraud is a pretty big step,” said the lawyer, Jonathan Goldstein. “We’re all just trying to get an election done.”
